Morning everyone!
Got in 13K / 8.08M (at 09"58). Ran first 2.2M with 9 year old.
Still under the weather ... Had to honk a few times whilst running (sorry ladies - I know plenty find that disgusting!). But feeling a bit better.
Crossed conservative 130M goal I set myself at the start of the month!
Totally smiling upon catching up on some of the posts...
@martaindale first off- well done Sarah! So close - and I know how cr-ppy you were feeling in the run up! Brunch sounds nice! ☺️ Shakshuka sounds delicious. You'd have lost me if it was a fancy version of Denny's with an avocado scoop and that irritating slice of orange as decoration on the side that literally no one wants or needs! Lol.
Ooohh... And Baklawa ice-cream looked amazing 🤤
LOL @ that guy following you on Strava. After all that. Haha
@chris_in_cal BROOOO... Strava where it's at for the runner ladies! 🤣😂
@ContraryMaryMary @quilteryoyo
As for the "I told you so" supportive/non supportive spouse bit... Shes supportive of fitness and clean living... But thinks I'm a running obsessive. Thinks the 60 goal is silly. "Only a matter of time before you efff up your knees again". She runs occasionally but mixes it up with other things. (Ran a marathon about 7 or so years ago. At her peak... Wayyyy faster than I am/was; but she had a fall during her 26er and limped over the finish line; so her timing got screwed... And well I absolutely creamed her timing when I ran mine. We don't talk marathons lol.) She's into her Pull-ups a lot. Not gonna lie - not manly to admit... Can't do a single one! Push-ups. Sure. 'Drop and give me 20'. Easy. Pull-ups? Nope. Im out! Lol.
@TheMrWobbly you got a Half today? Musta missed that. Good luck mate.
@codygirlfriday - welcome!
Have a lovely Sunday all8 -
@martaindale I hate that guy hahaha! It happens every single time for me. Except sometimes it’s a run/walker and then I feel embarrassed because I’ve been running my butt off the whole time. Great race!
@Leigh_b sounds like a really rough week. The mindfulness has been a lifesaver for me lately as well. This too shall pass and maybe the spring will be your best miles yet!!
I am going to try getting in a mile or two on foot today after a long drive.
Have a nice easy Sunday everyone! Starting March 1 I will set a mileage goal for myself7 -

@martaindale That brunch sounded amazing. Finally a brunch even @tarun_yadavA wouldn’t cringe at .
As to the trail vs. street debate, I am a total trail runner but prioritise first and foremost minimal car traffic. Most of my running paths are long distance bike paths/agricultural use paths too, so they are usually a mix with paved surfaces, gravel, and dirt/mud slosh . I love it even if I always have to watch my feet, I don’t have to watch out for cars or stop at lights. Although when cars do come by, they literally make me jump because I’m just not expecting them and usually can’t hear them with my headphones in.
Today my son had a 6 hour soccer tournament, so I went running during the first few games. As I wasn’t too familiar with the area, I picked out my route last night and used navigation during my run for the first time. It worked pretty well, although it is not necessarily something I want to use often, but for the situation it was perfect. I ran 12.1km.
So far 237.7/200km for February. Tomorrow I should surpass my monthly record I got last month. Am excited to see how much I will get in before Friday .10 -
Just a happy note: My childhood buddy is at our hometown race today, The Ventura Marathon. He and two of his children are running the half. His son is targeting 1:30:00, his daughter 2:00:00, and he wants to break 3:00:00.
That sounds like a good time, I wish I could be there to cheer them on. Good luck fam!
Gordon's third child is at home with his new granddaughter

@chris_in_cal So cool that your friend is running with his family! I wish my family ran too. I've done individual races with my husband and kid but neither of them is interested in running at the moment.2

Hoped to get a few miles in today, but my overnight recovery was not what it needed to be, so giving myself the day to recover. Will do some walking and stretching and eating well so that I can get out the door strong tomorrow. I want to finish the month strong even if I’m not going to make the goal.
9 -
Well maybe I will make the stretch goal of 130 for the month. 2 long run days in a row. I think at heart I am a distance vs speed runner but sometimes it's hard to classify. I do try to change things up depending on how I feel when I get started.
Some really fun reads here the past few days. My last real beach vacay was to Tybee island so some fond memories of that location.
Impossible to think that Feb is almost over also... My cat is pretty much back to normal and I weaned her off the gabipentin last week. She did catch a small kennel cold from her vet visit I think tho. One of the reasons I really hate taking them in to the vet. sigh. But she's jumping much better and totally acting herself including her daily barfing. 😳🤣 I guess time to reinstate the daily prilosec dosage altho I do wonder if that could have been causing the other issues.

It was a pretty easy, slow, longer run at the beach. Today is a little overcast so not too crowded.
We get one extra leap day this year to try and hit our monthly goals.

It was a beautiful morning. It was 69°F when I started out and about 70° when I got home. I ran 11 miles in shorts and a tank top. 😊 It was a little windy, but that helped keep it from being too hot. I know it will be hot soon, but it was so nice not to have to wear gloves or sleeves.
@tarun_yadav When it cones to road vs. trail, I also prefer road.
Congratulations on your race @martaindale! I know it is frustrating to come so close, but you still did great.

My ankle was a little tight after yesterday’s long run (which was long and lovely and huuuuuuumid) so I thought I’d have a very gentle 5km while my daughter was at ballet. Headed off along the cycle way by the motorway then thought, rather than turning and having another 15 minutes of commuter traffic fumes, I’d run the suburban streets parallel with the motorway back to my car. Unfortunately my internal compass is worse than useless so I didn’t realise I wasn’t running parallel with the motorway but away from it. Fortunately, I knew where I was, so knew how to get back to a point where I could find my car. Ended up stumbling across it by accident, which probably saved me another 10 minutes of running, but as it was I ended up close to 6.5km! Oops.10
-
@ContraryMaryMary Glad you found your way back!
@kgirlhart Glad you could ditch your gloves and warm clothing.
I had to go find my gloves/headband/running jacket this morning. Brrr it was cold. I’m still thawing out. Got in a nice and easy 10.2km. Saw a fox and a little squirrel carrying a giant pine cone, but otherwise uneventful but enjoyable run.
247.9/200km for February.9 -
Morning everyone!
Got in 5 (09"51).
Have a nice Monday!9 -
Early morning 10K. You know those runs that you feel like you could run forever...yeah this wasn't one of them. Felt uncomfortable and forced the whole time. Might be because it was the first time in several months that I have ran before work, but what ever it was I didn't enjoy it.12
-
3.5 before work. The sky was amazing and the moon was beautiful. That almost dawn pink and orange. My run wasn't great as my body is feeling the weekend mileage but then I never get really comfortable until after 3 miles. It's supposed to be hot today so good thing you got it in early Scott. 90 degrees!!!🥵🥵🔥
Tarun, your streak is VERY impressive. What if you did the whole year? wow.😳😳

The story.
It started like this...
and then this...
and then it went like this...
The details...Did you know new vehicles do not come with spare tire, jack, wrench...nothing! I did not. A client mentioned it this past week since it happened to him. I did not think to much about it, since mine is 2020. So apparently, a screw went in to my tire and came back out causing it to deflate rapidly on the interstate this morning. Lo and behold, I have no spare, no jack, no wrench....
I made it up the off ramp into a gas station. I had to call a tow truck since I really do not know anyone with skills to help. Tow truck comes, man does not believe me and searches van and he did not find a spare, jack, or wrench. So, van towed to tire place close to where I live. Running partner A saves me and my mother off the road. We make it home, grab my little work truck and off we go to her appointments that we are really late for. Tire place calls and tells me about the screw and that they can patch it, but that every vehicle automatically gets alignment inspection and it was really bad. REWIND: three weeks ago I hit a pot hole from hell. Same pothole running partner A hit and caused major damage to hers. So all that to say, God is good! If not for that screw, I would have continued out of alignment and really messed up the van.

@tarun_yadavA I think that means you're wife cares about your health. Do be careful. I gotta tell you, I'm sitting at daycare, watching the kids nap, so when I read pull-up, the picture that came to mind was kids potty training pull ups. I doubt if the wife is "into" those.🤣😜. BTW, I have zero upper body strength, so have never been able to do a pull up either.
@daria0919 Sounds like you have found a great training team. You are doing great.
@chris_in_cal Congratulations to your friend's family. They all did great!
Nice running @SummerSkier and glad your cat is feeling better.
@yirara Glad you are feeling better.
Glad you were able to find your car @ContraryMaryMary . Great use of your time to get your run in.
Sorry your run was tough @Scott6255 . I hope tomorrow is much better.
@AlphaHowls I had heard that, but forgot. I know mine does have a spare. I forget to check the pressure in it though. I'm glad someone saved you and your mom on the interstate and that you got the alignment done. That can cause a lot of damage. I hope your mom's appointments go well.

@Scott6255 those runs are tough. It’s hard to overcome a mental challenge with running. For me it’s harder than any physical one. I can psych myself out pretty quick. Hopefully next one is better!
Today I got in a run and a long walk. Tomorrow I have a huge exam I have been studying for full time since December. So trying to keep myself out of anxiety by being outside most of the day. Hope everyone has a good start to their week!

Hoping to get miles in over the next 3 days to reduce the deficit to my goal - which I now have no hope of making. Will likely come in 19ish miles shy of my goal - will have to increase my goal over the next few months to make up for my loss.

Nice run and good luck on your exam tomorrow @codygirlfriday .
Great running everyone.
Thanks for setting up the March thread @AlphaHowls !4
