LESS Alcohol ~ FEBRUARY 2024 ~ One Day at A Time
Replies

@tmbg1 : Friday drinks are the hardest for me to give up. Followed by Saturday and every other day. 🥴 Another way to put it is if you master Friday night, the others are easier.
I’ve stuck to drinking only one night in Feb so far. Now we’re off on a sunny vacation. I plan to not drink for the first few days so I can recover completely from my cold. Then, 2 standard drinks or less on any day. Back to 100% dry when I get home. This is a challenge, let’s see how I do!7 -

What does LA stand for? I looked at the acronym list but did not see it. Thanks1

Less Alcohol....as in, low alcohol wine...Mocktails....alcohol free beer....2 drinks on a Friday night as opposed to 5...only imbibing on weekends as opposed to every single night...going alcohol-free with an occasional slip up....
What ever gets us to a healthier relationship with alcohol and our selves.
Welcome aboard.3 -

For me it means 1-2 drinks. I use this because I'm not giving up A entirely, but I'm just trying to drink less.3 -

Checking in while on vacation. Lots of dining out and socializing over the weekend. Also biking, and long walks on the beach.
Went overboard on Sat night at a big celebration dinner but only 1 glass of wine on Sunday night.
Some planned red wine this evening but will stay within limits. Heading out for another adventure tomorrow!

Only 3 days left for a completely dry February. Really my underlying goal was not ordering food for the whole month, and not drinking alcohol was the catalyst (wrong choice of word I think) for allowing me to meet that goal.
The number of days streak without alcohol (and other rec drugs) was important to me up until probably around day 20, then I sort of forgot about it and the streak for the sake of the streak became less important.
Friends are coming into town this weekend so I'm probably going to drink one or two days, but I'm not overly concerned about any inclination to order food. I think I've broken that habit after ordering at least 10 times/ week for I don't even know how long.5 -

More drinks than I'd care to announce for February but nothing I'm terribly ashamed of either. I have lost about 4 pounds this month. I'm going to try to "behave" for the next two and a half weeks so I can extra misbehave during spring break. 😁10

I am so proud of everyone for attending our February thread and supporting all the wonderful folks that post here (and lurkers behind the curtain too).
My personal accountability this month is: Very happy with this number.
26 Alcohol FREE days
3 Alcohol days ( 6 standard size drinks total for month)
See you over there, bring a friend or two. We can all benefit from LESS ALCOHOL in our lives.

Final check in - really wanted a glass of wine last night but once I got to the point to slow down and have one...I didn't want it anymore
Planned A tonight leaves me:
20 days on target (8 A/12 AF) and 9 days over target
Slightly over my original goal of 15 AF days but I can see the improvement as I work through the month. Time to get March started!3 -
Arrived home last night from a 5-night girls vacation with daily activities as well as numerous social gatherings. I preferred to cook in a couple of nights but that wasn’t the majority vote, so us gals dined out and had wine daily. For me, I did let me hair down with the wine intake and maybe should have accounted for that in advance (no husband, kids, or grandkids with me this time). It was also a difficult month personally but no excuses.
I did not hit my LA goal of 18 AF days — so that will be my new LA goal for March.
Feb. accountability including today!

February was a challenge. Now it's time to get back to January thinking....
Light years ahead of last year!! In 2024, I have had 42 days AF. In the entire year of 2023, I had 43 days AF. Wow, even my less than stellar February was better than 90% of the months in 2023!
Thank you @Missmay for hosing this group and thank you all for keeping me accountable, without accountability, I wouldn't have these details to know the progress being made!!
Time to focus on March!

Not a great result for Feb but I did manage to maintain my weight as of today 2lbs under goal. So I'm looking on the brighter side of life!4 -
@xbowhunter - you can still celebrate all those AF days you racked up. Good for you!1
-
@MissMay - your final stats for February are truly, truly admirable. A huge congratulations to you. You are right, we can all benefit from Less Alcohol in our lives. Thank you for that honest truth.2

It looks like a lot of success for the month of February. I officially started Feb.4 with no alcohol and made it the rest of the month. I did drink non alcohol beers which helped tremendously. I'll eventually quit drinking those too. Sparkling water with lime seems to do the trick too. Wishing everybody a successful March. See you there.1

I didn’t do very well with being AF this month. I am disappointed in myself. I was completely dry in January but this month had a few celebrations which just ignited the taste for 🍷. Nice work to all of you who were more successful! Will there be a community group for March?2

After drinking or using rec drugs, or both, every single day since mid-2020, except for a few 4-5 day periods on vacation outside the country, I successfully had a completely dry February.
I never would have even had the idea or thought to do this if it weren't for joining MFP, and specifically seeing this thread, and for the willingness of others in this thread to allow me (and others) to use the thread as a personal journal when I can't really share my journey with anyone in my real life.
Thank you to all, and here's to hoping for a good (admittedly not completely dry) March. January and February are my light months and work gets crazy for the rest of the year so I probably won't be back to reading and posting here for a while because if I don't force myself to pull away from forums I spend way too much time.
