Hello. I'm new ish to the app. I have been struggling with a food addiction my whole life. It's hard because I don't know many people who struggle with addiction. Many don't think food can be an addiction. I used to be 240 lbs but had the opportunity to have weight loss surgery. I have been doing okay to maintain my new figure but stress has lead me back to food. I started gaining weight back and it's hard to motivate myself to make changes. Hopefully I can use this app to keep myself accountable and build a community.

Sorry to hear, I can relate to an extent. I used food as a coping mechanism whenever I got stressed and depressed. I would eat to the point of feeling so full it would be uncomfortable. It took a lot of mental shifts and retraining my stomach to make any progress. I sent you a FR.

    You are definitely not alone.

I don’t think I can call myself a “food addict” but I do know that I can emotionally eat, and, while I do try hard to avoid certain things…. If I have an especially kitten-y kitten day? I will eat a lot of garbage food.

The first step is acknowledging it happens.

There’s some new research on such things, suggesting that for some people at least, there may be a biological/hormonal connection to hunger cravings.

Anyway. I just wanted to say you’re not alone.
