Happy Easter!
It is raining. Oldest granddaughter reached out to us Thursday night about going to a car show with her! This is the first time she has done this. It did my heart good. Then yesterday she said she would like us to take both mustangs and could she drive the 2008. Ummmmm.....she is still on permit. I told her she needed more experience and an actual license before she could. Then she and her mom(H) just stopped by!!!! That was complicated yet thankful. We found a car for our oldest grandson which his parents are buying from us. Oldest daughter (C) rarely asks for assistance. Remember delicate balance with H who we have bought a house for. She expects lots. We'll, the transfer of the car from seller was going on when they showed up! Of all times! SMH. They just know our friend was visiting. I did go around the block with N driving her family van. She isn't a bad driver, just very much a beginner. She will be 21 in May. Her brother will be 16 at end of April and like our other grandson is driving on the highways already. I haven't ridden with them yet. Anyway....exciting end to Saturday.
Today we may be picking up N to go to car show from 2-4 ish. Weather depending. Not looking good. Then Oldest daughter and family are coming up to get car after that. We are doing Mexican restaurant for dinner.

John has gone off to meet his daughter at the railway station. He wasn't feeling tip top. Not sure why. A bit light headed.
I hope it's nothing.
Before he went, I cooked myself a Curry Laksa, with six jumbo prawns. If I say so myself, it was as good as the one I used to have in London. 14 years ago now! I looked up the current price in the restaurant - £15.50. And you don't get as many prawns.
I used to have it either before, or after, an early showing at the arty cinema next door. A favourite, solitary treat, with a French, or Spanish film. It used to make the sweat break out on me, (exquisite masochism) and afterwards you'd get really thirsty! I've woken up thirsty from my nap,, so I know it's authentic!

Good morning all! Happy Easter!
Well, I made it through my work day, Friday, and managed to stay awake to make the hour long drive to the airport to pick up my DYS when his flight landed at 10:30pm. (Of course I did; I adore that kid!) With picking him up, waiting for baggage, and the drive home; it was 1:00am before I was in bed. After being up at 5:00am, it made for a loooong day. Saturday, I was up at 8:30. I got my shopping done, came home and got some cooking done for the upcoming childcare week, then had a late lunch. DYS then informed me that his baptism and confirmation was going to take place at the Saturday night Easter vigil. Hoo-boy! The service started at 9pm (had to be there by 8:30) and lasted until 11:45. Reception after. Home and in bed by 1:00am, again. Mama! I couldn't sleep past 7:30 this morning. So I am up and preparing for a simple Easter meal of ham and potatoes. No other extras, although I will make a salad for myself.
Annie- Sorry to hear about your dad's fall. Hope he recovers from it as painlessly as possible.

Heather - Interesting question re: When/at what times do we feel close to our partners/spouses?
I feel closest to him during times of high emotion. Not anger. Either happiness (laughter) or sorrow (tears). Children/family tend to bring these feelings about the most. Physical touch/desire (on his part) will often evoke anger from me. I am sure because I always feel stressed trying to "do" everything. Due to his advanced RA and chronic pain, I am the one working, cleaning, cooking, shopping, etc. Physical intimacy initiated by him tends to bring up feelings of resentment from me. Most times it feels like another thing that someone wants from me. It also makes me feel bad, because I KNOW that he needs that intimacy to feel loved. He has confessed that he is very worried that I will leave him and find someone else. lol IF he only knew that if I left him it would be only to have time for myself. lol Oh well, like you, I try to leave time in my schedule/on my to do list for intimacy. That way, it doesn't feel like something I have to squeeze into my already busy schedule.
Well, having DYS go through the rite of baptism and confirmation, has made me think of my own spirituality. There was a time when I never missed a Sunday and went to church regularly. Now, I feel the most connected to God through quiet and nature. Nature doesn't ask anything of me. Just leave it as is, do my best to NOT leave a large carbon footprint on this world, and perhaps help heal damage done by planting trees and taking care of my corner of the earth.

Happy Easter everyone. My sister called yesterday to see if I wanted to be there for mom’s cremation and I told her sure. She then told me that Joey (brother) called and asked her if she wanted to be there because the funeral home told him they had a limit of 5 people could attend. Him, his girlfriend, Emilio, a guy that gave mom massages, Janie (sister) and I guess butch, her husband. Amanda (Janie’s daughter) wanted to come and she asked me. She said I was going to get in no matter what and to show up when the day came. The drama continues. Apparently Joey wasn’t treating mom good towards the end so now that she’s gone, I’m sure he’s having regrets. He was crying when she passed and talking to her (in Spanish), and I was thinking, why now.
This is my third experience with death with a person that was close to me. First, my husband, next our oldest sister, and now mom. Funny is was present for all three when they went. I was laying on the bed with Lenny when he went. One thing I noticed about myself, I don’t cry at that moment, I still haven’t. I know there is no right or wrong way to grieve and it doesn’t mean anything if you don’t cry. I told Janie if and when I cry it won’t be because I miss her and loved her so much it is because it’s sad on how she destroyed the family and how our family could have been so different. 2 brothers haven’t been told, the oldest and the 3rd from the top and Janie is absolutely fine with that. Janie’s motto they don’t ask about mom, she doesn’t tell. No one talks to Jesse, the oldest, I am close to tony and Judy (wife) and she usually asks how’s your mom doing and I tell her if I’ve seen her and what’s going on . Last time I talked to her she asked, I didn’t know how to get around it and told her she was at Stanford hospital and she asked what was wrong, I told her to call Janie for details because I wasn’t sure and that was that. Mom was there since the 3rd and she may have called me on the 5th. I called Janie almost if not every day asking how mom was and if Judy has called, she hadn’t. Until this moment she still hasn’t called Janie. She hasn’t called me except for one time and at a that time she didn’t ask about mom so I didn’t say anything. Now that she’s gone, I feel torn like I should tell them but it’s not my responsibility or obligation, if they want to know how she’s doing why haven’t they called to ask. I have to see Judy for a luncheon on 4/13 and I know she’s going to ask and my response will be have you called Janie? Know you know why I don’t post on here much lolol11 -

Absolutely no sleep last night..oh lordy.. the cat is going to drive me insane..I love her to pieces but sheesh.hopping up and down off the bed,and knocking stuff off the nightstand,and if I close the doot she scratches at the door and meows until i open it up..criminy!!
Haven't heard from Tracy today I always message her in the morning.. My brother just called bless his heart..
Dan will be here after one to pick up garbage.

Pip - HUGS. I wouldn't worry about all those other people. You just do you, in a way you feel appropriate for you. Let them be who they are. I know families can be hard. You could just get together with one or two of the nice ones and have your own remembering. I'm not even having a service, as I don't believe my mortal remains are me. When we free ourselves from other people's expectations, and we free ourselves from expecting other people to be different from how they are, our life is so much more peaceful. 💖

Today and yesterday (and most of the time) I listened to podcasts called "Happier" "More Happier" "The Happiness Lab" and "10% Happier" I didn't read, listen to, or watch the news. I talked to or spent time only with people who have a positive outlook on life. I spent a lot of time with myself or my husband or my dogs. I read from a variety of books on spiritual topics and read only fiction that I enjoy. I spent about two hours outdoors. I got exercise in a variety of ways. I made time for meditation. I consider all of those ways of spending my time to be my recipe for happiness and contentment. Time is finite and I want to make the best of it. Best wishes to those of you who celebrate today. I hope you've made plans that will enhance your enjoyment of the day. Barbie in NW WA 5 -
If it isn't dogs barking endlessly in this neighbourhood, it's the neighbour a few doors down who has decided to annoy the whole neighbourhood with his radio or TV.
He dislikes us all and has started fights with a neighbour on one side of him, which have ended up involving other neighbours ... the police have even been called. This has been going on for at least a couple years.
Now he has decided to have the radio or TV going full blast. It's quieter during the day, but gets quite loud in the evenings. We can no longer sit in our new patio area in the evening because it is too noisy. We developed the new patio area because the old patio area was too close to another neighbour's dog who would not stop barking and growling at us.
The police have been called to check on him ... to see if he was still alive and to offer a suggestion that he might turn the noise down. It quieted for a couple days, but it has been back for 2 or 3 weeks now.
Getting a bit weary of it all.
Silence is golden!! And much desired.
Very thankful I will be seeing the dentist next on Tuesday. Very sore jaw.

Here, the neighbor boy(early 20's I think) has his car stereo blasting again this morning.
I don't mind the Mexican music but I don't like the THUMP THUMP THUMP that is rattling our windows.
It was really loud yesterday afternoon-he had friends over so think he was showing off a bit. I did go out and motion to him to please lower it and he did. They hang out right at the fence line and that is where his car is-less than 20ft from our front door.
He started up again sometime after I got up at 8:30.
Other than that and the occasional time their friends take the parking spot right in front of our house so I have no place to park but they move if I go ask them, they are pretty good neighbors. Better than the last ones.
BUT- that thumping is giving me a headache.
my solution is to go ask him to turn it down- dh's solution is to get a bigger speaker and blare it towards their house late at night. He is very confrontational. He is like that to the other neighbor because one time the wife came and talked/yelled(I am pretty sure she wasn't really yelling but maybe a bit loud) because I put a not on their van to please move up just a foot so we could park our van there too. That was a few years ago and he still goes off about it.

Annie - I hope you can get a nap in today as well. It’s common, I think, for elderly people to be up and down during the night.
Heather - hopefully things will move fast this week for you with getting the doctor’s notes and the refund.
Terri - I like when my daughter hosts things too. DH prefers when I do it, but he’s not the one that has to do all of the work.
Machka - “what I think my natural colour is”, I have the same problem. I’ve been dyeing my hair since I was 14 when a friend and I did it over her bathtub. I am not going to let mine go grey for quite a while yet, I want to look younger for the job I want.
Anyone that can do math will know my approximate age though when they learn I have grandchildren.
I am thankful we have pretty good neighbours around us, sometimes dogs barking, a truck running and a young guy whose music is loud when he pulls in, but mostly quite quiet. Well except the planes taking off and landing.
Ginny - sorry for the loss of your friend. Our children sure can cause us heartaches.
Lanette - you are a braver woman than I! I wouldn’t be touching anything like that, and sure wouldn’t like to see the vultures and ravens enjoying a feast.
Lisa - thanks for the yoga information!
I need to find a place to do something exercising, maybe when my friend leaves I can set up a mat on the floor in the craft/spare room.
Kylia - sounds like a positive day all the way around.
Kelly - those are some late nights, I have them and then end up recouping over the course of a few days.
Pip - So many complications, I hope you find some peace and your siblings start sharing information.
Carol - beautiful grandchildren.
I slept so well last night. I was in pain before I went to bed, but I iced my neck, used my Dr. Ho then used heat. I took a muscle relaxant that Kaitlyn had given me, two Advils and went to bed. I slept until after 10 this morning and don’t feel as tight as I have been in my neck and shoulder. I’ll do that again tonight, but will have to go to bed earlier since I have class in the morning.
Rodger is sleeping, I have laundry going and I need to finish tidying up the house.
I should get at it!

Tracey - Glad you had a better night. You can put a yoga mat down almost anywhere. I do snow angels with my arms, so I need a bit more space, but there's a lot that can be done within the mat.
Usually when we lose connection with our loved one, it's because we are not talking about how we feel. "I statements", not blaming. Saying we want more connection and we miss them. I know you got that connection back before, so I know you can do it. All relationships need a tune-up now and then. I think of it as clearing out the sludge that inevitably accumulates in the channel.
John had a wonderful time with his daughter. Her train was late, of course, but they went to the Persian restaurant and ordered lots of starters, instead of a main. She had been saying she had to rush off, but, inevitably, she changed her mind, and they went to Maroccos on the seafront for their fabulous ice cream. They queued for 20 minutes.
Then they walked along to the i360 and she wanted to stop for a glass of rosé wine on the balcony. Then they parted on the seafront and she went off to the station and missed her train.
John was very pleased with his day, so that's good. He came back happy and grateful.
We had our celebration snack meal with champagne. Delicious!
Tomorrow my son will pick us up at 8.30 for us to babysit while they go out for a 90k bike ride. I am entrusted with putting the lasagne he made into the oven. I will take some art supplies over so we can have some different activities for the girls to do. (And me!) We will give them their posh chocolate animal faces.

As Heather said, a mat is literally all it takes. I keep a yoga mat rolled up under the end table of the couch, and I yank that out and unroll it to do almost everything except the band moves, which should be something to add on much later, if at all. Glad you had a good night! Once I can sleep, I can get through most things.
I keep bouncing off the thought of the Wednesday morning ultrasound coming up, much like when you have a sore in your mouth.... I touch on that and then just have to make myself stop thinking about it. Major stress points for me, these tests where they knock you out, but I did get them to put me on for first thing in the morning, so hopefully in and out reasonably quickly.
Corey's out mowing on the big zero-turn, I'm having a bit of a day off. Pushed just a bit past my limits yesterday, and today I'm paying for it.

Afternoon ladies
No rest for the weary.. didnt take any nap..but here is hoping I can stay awake until 9..
Tomorrow is prep day oh happy day lol ,well not until Tomorrow afternoon,but Im sticking with a liquid diet starting in the morning.
Smiles did the Easter egg hunt this morning,but wanted to open each egg one at a time lol6 -
Slept a bit later than usual but still had time for an hour's walk, some with and some without dogs, before going to pick up our groceries for the week. Walked with my friend for 30 minutes and with Annie the puppy for another 30 minutes before preparing lunch (homemade chicken mole with corn tortillas). After lunch rode my exercise bike for almost two hours while watching TV with Jake then while reading an e book on my phone while he and Annie napped on the couch. Got caught up on some financial computer work and now have time to spend with all of you. It could be a nice afternoon to work in the yard but if I open the door, the sound will wake Jake and the dogs and it will suddenly be time for dog feeding so I'll continue to be quiet. One of the things I read in my quiet time this morning said, "Just for today, I will adjust myself to what is, and not try to adjust everything to my own desires. I will take my "luck" as it comes, and fit myself to it. " What a great approach to feeling happier about my day. The new thread for April will be posted soon. I'm looking forward to another great month with all of you. Barbie in NW Wa 2
