I have a couple pair of the ones with arch supports for running and fencing. And since I was thinking about it, I order a 5-pack of them because I do exercise on my feet with walking, running, fencing, etc. and they do feel more comfortable.

Carol - I'm so sorry about your friend.
Tracey - Hope the socks help. When your feet hurt that much, each move can be agony. The compression socks have been wonderful for my ankle, I know that, so whatever keeps you upright and moving forward is probably worth it.
Pap smears - During that last gyno exam, the doc said I no longer have to have any Paps, not because of my age, but because I don't have a cervix, and there was no sign of any abnormalities in 20 years of tests. My cervix was taken along with everything else in the hysterectomy in 2001. Haven't missed it. They still took Paps every four or five years, though, to check for any abnormal cells. Pleased to be done with them...🐾👣🚶♀️🌞😃
On my earlier post, the whole medical-lalapalooza wears on me after a while, but it was good for me to write it all out earlier. Possibly just self-justification for some risky decisions, but that's OK, too. We have to make ourselves comfortable with the decisions we make one way or the other.
I also went on a complete rant on side trip into another couple of subjects, and those passages are now safely inserted in my journal on my private, passworded laptop,. Might get a little sticky if I run for President later, but hey, I'll risk it. 🙃
Not much on the agenda for today... I've reassembled the now-dry, clean vacuum cleaners with all filters, etc., and have both of those put away. Am debating on cleaning out the woodshed, which we plan to extend and re-roof later, or working inside on demolishing the drywall in the back bedrooms, or working on the quilt.
Those are the three things at the top of my to-do list.
I also always have the option to simply not do a blessed thing. 🐈⬛ Egg thinks I should just pet her and forget the rest... 🙃👀😀
Later, y'all,
Hope it's a lovely, peaceful Wednesday,

Carol ... so sorry that you have experienced another loss. Hugs.
Lisa ... I understand your decision to say "no" to the Watchmen at this time and I also understand how hard it is to say "no" to something that would benefit your health.I'm scheduled to have my cochlear implant placed on the 29th. I've been under more stress than usual the last 2 weeks. Started having some "twinges" for a lack of a better term on the left side of my chest last week... after I had already answered the anesthesiologist's questions who didn't order traditional EKG, Chest X-ray, etc. I'm fairly certain it's anxiety. I'm not short of breath or experiencing any problems during exercise. Sleeping poorly on my left side on a mattress that should have been replaced years ago... it may even be muscle related. And I've had these weird feelings in the past when I've been upset ... so they're not new. I hesitated to contact my doctor because the surgery is less than two weeks away and I think I'm mostly just anxious. But then I thought about how stupid it would be to go forward with a surgery IF there is some underlying condition that needs addressed. I have an appointment tomorrow.
Tracey ... I am appalled by the stories of disrespect and misbehaved children in today's classrooms. I firmly believe they are a symptom of poor policies and failed parenting.

Beth-I agree with you on the kids. My friend works at an elementary school and she said they cannot touch the kids, even to gently guide them in the correct direction (which is sometimes needed with little ones) or even raise their voices at the kids. The kids just run all over the adults. I could not do her job.

Rita-I think it would be fun for you to choose who would be which character based on what you know about us...all in fun of course. :-)

Good day to all!
Well, my trip is booked! I'm taking my niece to Savannah, GA! I have wanted to go there for 30+ years (after reading a book set there) and I want to take her on some trips, so she and I are doing a girl's trip there. Those of you who have been there or know anything about it, please chime in on the do not miss sights. She's not of legal drinking age, so boozing it up isn't in the cards.
The mister is finally feeling better, but now I feel icky. I'm not sure if it's a cold or allergies. The pollen counts are very high right now, so hopefully that's it.
Carol-Sorry about your friend.
Not much time today. I'm out for the rest of the week and weekend. I'm not sure how much I'll be able to keep up with you all.
Have a great day/week.

Just finished a Zoom with my girlfriends. One is in Northern Cyprus. Lots of medical stuff. My friend G is taking the first steps towards training to be a support for mothers of young children. Volunteer work. She's done training for things before and not continued with it. The reality is hard.
Nice lunch out with Max, who seemed on pretty good form. He walked down with John and chatted all the way. At lunch we talked mainly about language. Fish and chips great, as always.
It was nice to do something to take my mind off the pain. Bad day. Nothing much seemed to touch it. I'm thinking of ordering a TENS machine. Anyone with experience? You can get wire free ones nowdays.
I also, after years of frustration, ordered a replacement burner for the gas hob. It's the big wok one, which has distorted and throws flames out everywhere. I can, supposedly send it back if it doesn't work, or fit, but it's not Amazon direct, only Marketplace, so may be more bother. I'm just not in the mood for things not working properly.
Pinhead oatmeal for dinner with stewed fruit and yoghurt on the side, plus prunes. My fish portion at lunch was HUGE! No more protein needed.
Love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx4 -
Thinking of uou , Beth. Big thing you are doing. Plus all the stress with your mother.

Tracey ~ I feel for you working with the students who are not being respectful. I taught 5th grade for 30 yrs and I had some students who were a pleasure but there was almost always a rotten apple who made the day awful. And the rotten apples usually had parents who sided with these kids no matter what.
Beth ~ Prayers that you will get through the cochlea implant safely. And, that your misgivings about the procedure will be unfounded.

Annie - having cash in hand to give your father would at least keep him from going to the bank.
Lisa - thank you for the explanation. For some reason it’s niggling in my mind that my grandmother had a-fib, she lived until she was 95 with no intervention.
On the other hand a friend of mine with UC was gone within 2 years of being diagnosed at 57 years of age.
Rodger said last night that he hated having to show his work, what did it matter as long as he had the right answer.
Beth - I’m sure it is anxiety, but it might be better to talk to your doctor about it.
I agree on the poor policies, but I also believe some of it falls back on poor parenting. I don’t think for a second we should go back to physical discipline, but there should be consequences.
Tina - what was the book series you read? I love when an author describes it so well that it makes me want to visit the area.
Heather - I have a TENS machine, it didn’t help my actual hip pain, but it helped immensely with the low back pain I was getting from the bad hip. I also use it in my shoulders, neck and have been using it on my calves to help loosen them to help with the plantar fasciitis. I have a Dr. Ho one. My physiotherapist scrunched her face up at it, but my massage therapist thought it would be beneficial. I found the massage therapist to be more helpful than physio all over so went with her. I’m glad I did.
Carol - I agree with listening to your child, but you need to back the teachers too.
I’m off to school, start at 1130 this morning. Then have lunch at 1224. It’s just odd scheduling.
We had a huge dump of snow overnight. Rodger told me to be careful on my drive as he came home driving sideways more than straight. I’m sure it was an exaggeration but I’ll still be careful.
I’ll check in later this evening.

Beth thinking of you!
Tina how exciting!
My dad had another adventure walk. He fell on the sidewalk, but he denies any pain. His walk sure is wobbly though. Then he asked a stranger for a ride home. That scares me, too. I wonder if he would lie to me about pain, or if he is in denial, or if he really has no pain. He made a remark about soon being confined to the house.
So I cancelled his physical therapy today. He is napping, which is for the best.

Rebecca - Love the cut - It's pretty much what I've had for years, and I love having short hair.
Beth - Totally agree with what Heather said. So many stresses in your life right now, and you can't consider them separately, your body sees them as more pressure on your system. Glad you're seeing your doctor about how you're feeling. Many good thoughts for a swift and successful procedure and a painless, quick recovery.
Annie - I'm so sorry about your dad's physical decline.
Tina - I've always been fascinated by Savannah's history and architecture, but the one time I made it to Georgia, I couldn't get there. Hope it's a terrific trip.
I was up far too early and was able to wave Corey off to work this morning, so no morning call, but talked to my daughter, then my son, then my best friend. Right now, my best friend is supposed to get here May 2. My son and his fiancée will drive down on Saturday, May 4, for a visit, then head back home (about an hour and a half away). My friend's supposed to be here for about eight days, and I'm so looking forward to it! She and her husband are in their RV, which makes everyone happy... 😀🙃. I still think it's five years since we saw each other, but she thinks it was longer than that. We agreed to disagree, even though I'm right... 🙄😀
Naptime. Six hours sleep just is not enough any more.
Later y'all,
Love,

Ginny – I will probably have any chemo gift sent here. Trying to do it with Amazon overseas, I can just see a hassle regarding international payment. If I just have whatever shipped here and then send it to her, that will probably be easiest. A bit more expensive (more, it’s more to send something to Switzerland than it is to send it to Germany!)
M – I don’t know if you can buy the fruit in FL. To be honest, I’ve never looked. I got it here in NC
Put down the paver sand yesterday. It only takes me an hour now. I’m thinking that I’ll clean the deck tomorrow since it’s supposed to be sunny. Took my car to be fixed and it should be ready by the end of next week. At least that’s what he said. Need to call Fri. to see about my jury duty. Told the gal at bowling that I guess there’s a chance I might be there if I don’t have to go to court. But I won’t know until after 5 so if she doesn’t hear from me, she should assume that I won’t be there. Got the permanent bridge put it. It feels a little funny – probably because I haven’t been using the waterpik
Welcome everyone new!
Annie – my gf in Switzerland was taking Ozempic for her weight but said that she stopped because the side effects were so bad. Not sure what side effects she had, tho. I like how you’re little by little increasing your exercise
Someone at BK must get somehow things that are going out of date and bring them to BK. Molly (store manager) just asked me to take them to the soup kitchen. While there today they had these cupcakes that had fallen over and the icing came off so the store couldn’t sell them. I took a few home, just put the icing back on. Doesn’t look fantastic, but I’m sure Vince won’t mind the taste.
Beautiful day Sunday so we worked on the pool. The spa still looks like pea soup, but the pool is getting there – still cloudy. Didn’t go to ceramics last night since Vince went to the eye MD where they dilated his eyes and he would have had a hard time seeing to paint, so we just skipped it
Heather – that’s a great idea! I know that she loves flowers, I remember the time we were there she’d go to the market and get some
Had to reschedule the dermatologist appt. since that’s the day we will be leaving to go to Denise’s for PJ’s graduation
pip – I transplanted some weeds that I thought were pretty. Wonder if they’ll make it since I touched them?????
Barbara – I have no idea of diatomacious earth would help or not. I’ll just see what (if anything) the white vinegar will do
Had to work today (Wed – I usually don’t work Wed). Seems the guy who usually does (I think just a little because I always have so much to be done on Thurs) had to come in either late or not at all so they asked me to come in. Afterwards, went to Lowe’s Hardware for pool salt, muriatic acid, paversand, and a weed and grass killer.
Rusty – absolutely I would play if I could
Seems that Jerry is in this place that’s an assisted living. Not sure why he’s there. He did tell one gal that he was looking forward to returning to BK (oh please don’t) but I doubt that’ll happen. He’d have to find someone to drive him here, stay 2 to 3 hours, then drive him home. I don’t think he’ll find anyone to do that (good)
Carol – so sorry to hear about your friend. Isn’t growing old s***y
Rita – I think I’d like to be Nosy. Sounds like fun
M – congrats on the cancer free
Still have an “ache” on the side of my right leg. Not the sciatic, that’s for sure. It feels like something is inflamed. The callous is still there, but much smaller.
Tina – your trip sounds great! When are you going? And how long will you be there
I remember that one time Jess did something (I don’t remember what) on the bus and I told them to have her clean the bus. They wouldn’t..
Oh Annie – I’m so glad you can come here and vent. What a worry on your shoulders!

Rebecca I can see that second hairstyle on you. It is perfect.
Beth, hugs and prayers. No wonder you are overwhelmed.
I have been reading but not commenting. Going through a bit of overwhelm myself. Nothing compared to what some of you are dealing with. I’ve missed some condolences - Pip, Carol, maybe more. Also lots of hugs and prayers - not going to even try to name them all. I’m sure I’ll miss somebody. And some congratulations - Machka on the house, Heather on the interview and book launch, and welcome to several new posters.
Re our mystery - I want Delta Burke to play me.

Deb--There is no excuse for it hurting like that. I do hope you let them know and he needs to know before he hurts anyone else.
Carol--Sorry to hear about your friend.
Beth--Sending prayers that it all works out so you can go ahead with your cochlear sugery.
Heather--I have a tens unit and when my back is hurting I wear it for several hours and it does help.
Tracey--Kids now days scare me. They can be so mean and the parents just look the other way. But there always seems to be one that wants to learn and is a joy to have around.
Blessings,Vicki GRAND ISLAND, NE3 -
Allie - A squirt bottle worked to train Egg to get away from the bedroom door. Squirt guns work, too. Egg now hears it if I even pick up the squirt bottle by the bed and beats feet. I think it took twice. Cats are smart.5
