04/22--I have developed a muffin-top which is the stage right before you need a new size. I’m pretty disgusted right now and can’t take much more disappointment. The struggle is real. You are not alone.

04/23-- I’m popping on to check in and keep up on reading the posts. I am doing so-so which is not good enough to reverse any damage, I’m sure. Feeling bloated and chubby. Today was a PCP local doctor appointment for myself and my son too. I saw the doctors scale and had to bend down and pick my eyeballs off the floor. Of course I was fully dressed and it was 1:00 in the afternoon with meals and a pot of coffee in me, but still much worse than expected. I am not emotionally ready to go through that again so I will seriously try to focus over the next couple of days. Afterward I traveled about 2 hours each way for a special order building supply for the renovation. I chose chicken for dinner but at this point nothing seems to matter or help. Tomorrow I will travel about 3 hours round trip so no meal away will be necessary. It will be an in & out thing. I am waiting on the call to hear that our new glasses are in. There will be some travel there to pick them up. I just want a one week stretch at home with no travel to really focus but like Mick said, β€œYou can’t always get what you want.”

Hello I'm Darlene. Retired, 63-year-old. Married (Greg), one adult daughter (Allyson), and one goldendoodle (Monty). I have been on this weight loss journey since January 2023. I found MFP in March, and this group in April. This challenge is the first I signed up for on MFP, so it holds a very special place in my heart. πŸ’– This month is a year with some of these amazing people. πŸ’– I am so thankful for their support and accountability.

My Goals for April

βš–οΈ Lose 2% of my body weight - changing my goal this month, my 4 pounds per month is getting really difficult now that I almost to my goal weight - but still am going to try to get that 4 pounds!
πŸ‘£ Average 17k Steps Daily with one day of rest
πŸ“ Log Daily
πŸ₯— Stay under my calorie range
πŸ’ͺ Strength Train 3 days per week
πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈ Tai Chi or Yoga 1 day per week
πŸ«€ Aerobics 3 days per week
πŸ’¦ 6+ glasses of water
πŸ“– Putting this one back in there - read almost every day
πŸ§‚ Stay Under 2400 mg of sodium daily

πŸ‘£ πŸ“ πŸ₯— πŸ’ͺ πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈ πŸ«€πŸ’¦πŸ“– πŸ§‚

Highest Weight 228

SW Dec: 228 | Jan: 217 | Feb: 212 | Mar: 207.6 | Apr 200.2 | May 194.8 | Jun: 189.6 | Jul: 187.4 | Aug: 179.8 | Sept: 174.2 | Oct: 169.6 | Nov 164.6 | Dec 164 | Jan 159.8 | Feb 156.8 | Mar 152.8

April Starting Weight: 152.8

🌈April 🌈🌷
b]April 1: 152.8 πŸ‘£ πŸ“ πŸ₯— πŸ«€πŸ’¦πŸ“– I love the beginning of a new month. Feels like a fresh new start; a clean slate. I have noticed a pattern in my weight loss. I do fantastic the first week of every month, then I kind of get lazy and for two weeks and the weight loss slows. Then I see the end of the month coming; and Yikes - only one week to finish my goals. I usually finish out the month strong. This month I'm hoping to skip that laziness in the middle of the month. Keep me to it!

April 2: 152.4 πŸ˜πŸ‘£ πŸ“ πŸ’ͺ πŸ’¦πŸ“–πŸ§‚ I added a new goal to my monthly, I will post whether I was under my daily sodium goal. It has huge affect on my daily weight flucuations, so if I am accountable for it, maybe I won't abuse it so much. Had a good night with Mom at bingo, she won (always a good thing), and I won twice last night. Had a brownie - put me over my calorie limit.

April 3: 151.6 πŸ˜πŸ‘£ πŸ“ πŸ₯— πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈπŸ«€πŸ’¦ πŸ§‚ Silly me, I looked back at my entries - they should have been 152.x not 154.x. I guess I was stuck in that 154 range for so long last month it just got stuck in my brain. I fixed them. Dentist appointment this morning - not my favorite.

April 4: 151.6 151.6 πŸ‘£ πŸ“ πŸ’ͺ πŸ’¦πŸ“–πŸ§‚ Busy day ahead today. We have to bring the car in for it's oil change. Then off to Sams Club for shopping. Then the grocery store to pick up all that we need for our Easter celebration this weekend. It's going to be rainy (and snow) day today, so inside walks and a HIIT workout are on the schedule. Then tonight going to a fundraiser for the Women's club/Firehouse. Hoping I won't binge too much.

April 5: 152.2 πŸ‘£ πŸ“ πŸ«€πŸ’¦ It's what I expected, had a little too much fun last night and the salt gets me everytime. I estimated and logged what I think I had - and MFP says I am under my calorie goal, but I'm not counting it as completed. I did manage to meet my exercise goals yesterday. Today's goal - get my outside walk (it's blue sky today), then some strength training, and a little treadmill tonight. I made a vow that I wouldn't watch any of "my" shows unless I was on the treadmill. I'm binge watching Jane the Virgin, and I have an episode of Ghosts that are calling my name.

April 6: 153 πŸ‘£ πŸ“ πŸ’ͺ πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈ πŸ’¦πŸ“– I had a little set back yesterday - I think the thought of Easter preparations, and the small trip for two days led me to self sabatoge. Over on my calories, and sodium - not a good combination. I did track it though.

April 7: 153.4 πŸ‘£ πŸ“ πŸ₯— πŸ«€πŸ’¦πŸ“– πŸ§‚ Not the right direction, but I will get back there. I'll be away for the next couple days and then giving myself a couple days to get rid of the excess vacatioin weight before I weigh in (don't want to know). Celebrating Easter with family today - then off until Tuesday night. See you beautiful people when I return!

April 8: DNW πŸ“– Only goal I met was logging. Estimated serving sizes and picked the best option I could find for the things I didn't make.

April 9: DNW πŸ“ πŸ’¦πŸ“– Away - drank a lot of water, read a lot in the car, logged (estimations again).

April 10: 153.4 πŸ‘£ πŸ“ πŸ₯— πŸ’ͺ πŸ’¦πŸ“– πŸ§‚Well that was a pleasant surprise this morning. I expected to be up from before I left - but I was SO careful yesterday. Still way up from my lowwest 151.6 - now it is time to get serious for the remainder of the month. For now - the only obstacle I see is me.

April 10: 152.8 πŸ‘£ πŸ“ πŸ₯— πŸ’¦πŸ“– πŸ§‚Another day on plan - creeping back. I really want to get out of this decade this month. I have been here for 3 months already. It's time!

April 11: 152.2 πŸ‘£ πŸ“ πŸ₯— πŸ’ͺ πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈ πŸ’¦πŸ“– Pretty good day, met most of my goals. I did go over the sodium limit, but only by a smidge.

April 12: 151.6 πŸ‘£ πŸ“ πŸ₯— πŸ«€ πŸ’¦πŸ“– Going for our monthly visit to Greg's cousin. Will be away most of the day and lunch with her. I'll be careful. I worked too hard this week to get back to this number to give it up now.

April 13: 151.6 πŸ‘£ πŸ“ πŸ₯— πŸ’ͺ πŸ’¦πŸ“– Nice visit with Greg's cousin yesterday. Today another busy day - going to see The Mystery of Edwin Drood at the Goodspeed. We are lucky to live just 20 minutes from the play house and go to most of the shows. It is the where some pretty famous musicals got their start (Annie, Man of La Mancha, and Shenandoah) and has sent 21 productions to broadway. It's a small theater and every seat is wonderful; but our favorite is down by the orchestra. We will be going out to lunch beforehand - again hoping to be careful.

April 14: 152.4 πŸ‘£ πŸ“ πŸ«€ πŸ’¦πŸ“– Had a wonderful time yesterday. The play was very enjoyable. The Mystery of Edwin Drood is a musical based off the unfinished novel of Charles Dickens. The show has multiple endings determined by the audience to determine who was the murderer and to determine which members get a happy ending. We were in the front row, - so when Princess Puffer (the prostitute) does her scene she harassess a member of the audience - she chose Greg which was kind of funny. Then they chose Allyson to help tally the votes to determine the murderer. Food wise - I made a good choice for lunch - but had a drink and dessert. I did have a very light breakfast and dinner and I logged the best I could - but always choose the most calorie option when I estimate. And was over my calorie limit a bit (and of course the salt). Tonight is Bingo night with Mom - missed it last week because we were away for the Eclipse. Will skip the junk food tonight at the table - can't have three days in a row off plan.

April 15: 151.8 πŸ‘£ πŸ“ πŸ₯— πŸ’ͺ πŸ’¦πŸ“– πŸ§‚Half the month gone and going nowhere! I am determined to finish this month strong.

April 16: 152.4 πŸ‘£ πŸ“ πŸ₯—πŸ«€πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈ πŸ’¦πŸ“– Well that isn't in the right direction. I worked my butt off yesterday - not only did I get all my exercise goals completed, I worked in the garden shoveling dirt and raking. Probably the sodium slip? But still determined to finish strong this month.

April 17: 151.6 πŸ‘£ πŸ“ πŸ₯— πŸ’ͺ πŸ’¦πŸ§‚ Swish! It's about time. Worked really hard in the garden again. Accomplished most of my goals. Rainy day here today, so inside work today - the house needs cleaning.

April 18: 151 😁 πŸ‘£ πŸ“ πŸ₯—πŸ«€πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈ πŸ’¦πŸ“– πŸ§‚A smile; it's been a long time since I gave myself one of those. Finally made it through this tough spot. I added intermittent fasting back into my day, in my sodium range, and left 75% of my active calories on the table. This is my new formula. And I met this goal yesterday!
lobl94x2gg87.png

April 19: 150.6 😁 πŸ‘£ πŸ“ πŸ₯— πŸ’ͺ πŸ’¦πŸ“–πŸ§‚ Burning alot of calories working on the new garden bed; almost finished. We are dumping all the old dirt from our container garden into the new bed, then using the new dirt in the containers. Have another 15 containers to dump.

April 20: 150.6😁 πŸ‘£ πŸ“ πŸ«€ πŸ’¦πŸ“– πŸ§‚ Went a little over on my calories yesterday - but way under for the week. Finished the garden bed - today Greg is taking down a tree that we noticed has a huge crack in the bottom - afraid it will fall on the house. So clean up the mess from a fallen tree is on the agenda.

April 21: 150 😁 πŸ‘£ πŸ“ πŸ₯— πŸ’ͺ πŸ’¦πŸ§‚ Met most of my goals yesterday, just didn't get to my book. The good thing is 3 smiles in a row. Skipping Bingo with Mom tonight. We dropped the tree yesterday - but took longer than we thought because it got caught in another tree and had to use a pulley and rope to get it out. Luckily my hubby knows what he is doing, and has all the equipment to do it safely. Today will be clean-up day and will probably be dirty and tired so I know I won't feel like going out.

April 22: 151.4 πŸ‘£ πŸ“ πŸ₯—πŸ«€ πŸ’¦πŸ“– πŸ§‚Don't get it - but it is what it is. Met all my goals yesterday. Today more of the same - finishing up the tree removal. We got the branches from the top of the tree done - now just need to cut up the trunk. Then I think I will need a break from the trees! 🌲
April 23: 152.4 πŸ‘£ πŸ“ πŸ₯— πŸ’ͺ πŸ’¦πŸ§‚Was having troube with my bathroom scale. Got on multiple times - each with a different result. New scale - new weight (ugh). I liked last week's numbers better - but they probably weren't accurate.

I dont know what to make of this number this morning. I highly doubt losing 5 lbs of water weight in 2 days. I suppose its possible but seems unlikely. I did weigh without clothes this AM. So maybe a combination of those? I guess we will see if i have a rebound the next few days
I am doing low carb and that can cause a big loss of water weight but usually after several days not 2. Idk im teying not to look a gift horse in the mouth here but...

04/24-- Today I take the short round trip (about 3 hours) to look at an investment opportunity. I hope to have a good day with my eating. I don’t worry about my meals since I enjoy the foods on my plan very much. It’s the snacks and the night time. Having bouts with my binge eating disorder is not just disruptive, it’s dangerous for my diabetes and my overall health too. I’m really trying to get it under control. I did talk to the doctor yesterday about it a bit. However, he was not my regular doctor, he was on loan to help my doctor catch up on his work load. All he basically did was order another A1C saying that any rise in my sugar numbers could be causing the symptoms. I tried to explain that it’s the other way around. The symptoms are what causes me to binge and raise my sugar numbers. He did make it clear that the larger glucose numbers will cause a hunger that cannot be filled. It would make me eat and eat. In the end, I don’t think he wanted to step on my doc’s toes and address a β€œnew issue” on his own so I got no answers on how to fix all this. Hopefully the labs will be passed onto my doc along with the appointment notes and I’ll hear something. I was really at the appt to re-check the foot issue anyway but the loaner doc said that my foot, likely diabetic neuropathy according to the hospital, is also just another symptom of the unstable diabetes even though I still feel like I probably actually stepped on something causing an injury. Maybe some answers will come of all this. I love when I have my strong days when the cogs on the wheels work so smoothly together and dieting is easy and doesn’t feel like dieting at all. I hate these hard times, weak times, bad times. I don’t always understand how it flips from one to the other so easily. What a roller coaster! What a journey! What a ride this is!

Been quite active but it’s making me so hungry. 🀀 I’m annoyed as hell that I’ve gained this month. I’m making an effort to push myself just a little bit and go to the gym regularly even if I don’t want to. I’m in a world of pain but that’s chronic illness for you.

See you all in May I hope. Keep working away at it.

April 24: 152.8 πŸ‘£ πŸ“ πŸ«€ πŸ’¦ I was out of control yesterday. Made cookies for my Mom's birthday party today (she's 86) and of course ate cookie dough, tasted some cookies. Then that spiraled to a snack after dinner. I did count everything! But of course over on the calories and the sodium. Today is the party - so expect another uptick tomorrow. I need to get it together!
