I feel your frustration, I found for me strength training helps to get that scale moving, muscle burns more fat and calories, and definitely keep an eye on those inches. The scale disappointed me this week, but the jeans finally fit. Don't give up, you've got this!!!!!5 -

Hello I'm Darlene. Retired, 63-year-old. Married (Greg), one adult daughter (Allyson), and one goldendoodle (Monty). I have been on this weight loss journey since January 2023. April Starting Weight: 152.8
πApril ππ·b]April 1: 152.8 π£ π π₯ π«π¦π I love the beginning of a new month. Feels like a fresh new start; a clean slate. I have noticed a pattern in my weight loss. I do fantastic the first week of every month, then I kind of get lazy and for two weeks and the weight loss slows. Then I see the end of the month coming; and Yikes - only one week to finish my goals. I usually finish out the month strong. This month I'm hoping to skip that laziness in the middle of the month. Keep me to it!
April 2: 152.4 ππ£ π πͺ π¦ππ§ I added a new goal to my monthly, I will post whether I was under my daily sodium goal. It has huge affect on my daily weight flucuations, so if I am accountable for it, maybe I won't abuse it so much. Had a good night with Mom at bingo, she won (always a good thing), and I won twice last night. Had a brownie - put me over my calorie limit.
April 3: 151.6 ππ£ π π₯ π§ββοΈπ«π¦ π§ Silly me, I looked back at my entries - they should have been 152.x not 154.x. I guess I was stuck in that 154 range for so long last month it just got stuck in my brain. I fixed them. Dentist appointment this morning - not my favorite.
April 4: 151.6 151.6 π£ π πͺ π¦ππ§ Busy day ahead today. We have to bring the car in for it's oil change. Then off to Sams Club for shopping. Then the grocery store to pick up all that we need for our Easter celebration this weekend. It's going to be rainy (and snow) day today, so inside walks and a HIIT workout are on the schedule. Then tonight going to a fundraiser for the Women's club/Firehouse. Hoping I won't binge too much.
April 5: 152.2 π£ π π«π¦ It's what I expected, had a little too much fun last night and the salt gets me everytime. I estimated and logged what I think I had - and MFP says I am under my calorie goal, but I'm not counting it as completed. I did manage to meet my exercise goals yesterday. Today's goal - get my outside walk (it's blue sky today), then some strength training, and a little treadmill tonight. I made a vow that I wouldn't watch any of "my" shows unless I was on the treadmill. I'm binge watching Jane the Virgin, and I have an episode of Ghosts that are calling my name.
April 6: 153 π£ π πͺ π§ββοΈ π¦π I had a little set back yesterday - I think the thought of Easter preparations, and the small trip for two days led me to self sabatoge. Over on my calories, and sodium - not a good combination. I did track it though.
April 7: 153.4 π£ π π₯ π«π¦π π§ Not the right direction, but I will get back there. I'll be away for the next couple days and then giving myself a couple days to get rid of the excess vacatioin weight before I weigh in (don't want to know). Celebrating Easter with family today - then off until Tuesday night. See you beautiful people when I return!
April 8: DNW π Only goal I met was logging. Estimated serving sizes and picked the best option I could find for the things I didn't make.
April 9: DNW π π¦π Away - drank a lot of water, read a lot in the car, logged (estimations again).
April 10: 153.4 π£ π π₯ πͺ π¦π π§Well that was a pleasant surprise this morning. I expected to be up from before I left - but I was SO careful yesterday. Still way up from my lowwest 151.6 - now it is time to get serious for the remainder of the month. For now - the only obstacle I see is me.
April 10: 152.8 π£ π π₯ π¦π π§Another day on plan - creeping back. I really want to get out of this decade this month. I have been here for 3 months already. It's time!
April 11: 152.2 π£ π π₯ πͺ π§ββοΈ π¦π Pretty good day, met most of my goals. I did go over the sodium limit, but only by a smidge.
April 12: 151.6 π£ π π₯ π« π¦π Going for our monthly visit to Greg's cousin. Will be away most of the day and lunch with her. I'll be careful. I worked too hard this week to get back to this number to give it up now.
April 13: 151.6 π£ π π₯ πͺ π¦π Nice visit with Greg's cousin yesterday. Today another busy day - going to see The Mystery of Edwin Drood at the Goodspeed. We are lucky to live just 20 minutes from the play house and go to most of the shows. It is the where some pretty famous musicals got their start (Annie, Man of La Mancha, and Shenandoah) and has sent 21 productions to broadway. It's a small theater and every seat is wonderful; but our favorite is down by the orchestra. We will be going out to lunch beforehand - again hoping to be careful.
April 14: 152.4 π£ π π« π¦π Had a wonderful time yesterday. The play was very enjoyable. The Mystery of Edwin Drood is a musical based off the unfinished novel of Charles Dickens. The show has multiple endings determined by the audience to determine who was the murderer and to determine which members get a happy ending. We were in the front row, - so when Princess Puffer (the prostitute) does her scene she harassess a member of the audience - she chose Greg which was kind of funny. Then they chose Allyson to help tally the votes to determine the murderer. Food wise - I made a good choice for lunch - but had a drink and dessert. I did have a very light breakfast and dinner and I logged the best I could - but always choose the most calorie option when I estimate. And was over my calorie limit a bit (and of course the salt). Tonight is Bingo night with Mom - missed it last week because we were away for the Eclipse. Will skip the junk food tonight at the table - can't have three days in a row off plan.
April 15: 151.8 π£ π π₯ πͺ π¦π π§Half the month gone and going nowhere! I am determined to finish this month strong.
April 16: 152.4 π£ π π₯π«π§ββοΈ π¦π Well that isn't in the right direction. I worked my butt off yesterday - not only did I get all my exercise goals completed, I worked in the garden shoveling dirt and raking. Probably the sodium slip? But still determined to finish strong this month.
April 17: 151.6 π£ π π₯ πͺ π¦π§ Swish! It's about time. Worked really hard in the garden again. Accomplished most of my goals. Rainy day here today, so inside work today - the house needs cleaning.
April 18: 151 π π£ π π₯π«π§ββοΈ π¦π π§A smile; it's been a long time since I gave myself one of those. Finally made it through this tough spot. I added intermittent fasting back into my day, in my sodium range, and left 75% of my active calories on the table. This is my new formula. And I met this goal yesterday!
April 19: 150.6 π π£ π π₯ πͺ π¦ππ§ Burning alot of calories working on the new garden bed; almost finished. We are dumping all the old dirt from our container garden into the new bed, then using the new dirt in the containers. Have another 15 containers to dump.
April 20: 150.6π π£ π π« π¦π π§ Went a little over on my calories yesterday - but way under for the week. Finished the garden bed - today Greg is taking down a tree that we noticed has a huge crack in the bottom - afraid it will fall on the house. So clean up the mess from a fallen tree is on the agenda.
April 21: 150 π π£ π π₯ πͺ π¦π§ Met most of my goals yesterday, just didn't get to my book. The good thing is 3 smiles in a row. Skipping Bingo with Mom tonight. We dropped the tree yesterday - but took longer than we thought because it got caught in another tree and had to use a pulley and rope to get it out. Luckily my hubby knows what he is doing, and has all the equipment to do it safely. Today will be clean-up day and will probably be dirty and tired so I know I won't feel like going out.
April 22: 151.4 π£ π π₯π« π¦π π§Don't get it - but it is what it is. Met all my goals yesterday. Today more of the same - finishing up the tree removal. We got the branches from the top of the tree done - now just need to cut up the trunk. Then I think I will need a break from the trees! π²
April 23: 152.4 π£ π π₯ πͺ π¦π§Was having troube with my bathroom scale. Got on multiple times - each with a different result. New scale - new weight (ugh). I liked last week's numbers better - but they probably weren't accurate.
April 24: 152.8 π£ π π« π¦ I was out of control yesterday. Made cookies for my Mom's birthday party today (she's 86) and of course ate cookie dough, tasted some cookies. Then that spiraled to a snack after dinner. I did count everything! But of course over on the calories and the sodium. Today is the party - so expect another uptick tomorrow. I need to get it together!3 -

@lifechanges2day wow! You are doing so well! Great job!
@koeitjiesa you are right there at your monthly goal! Awesome!
@ozdeelite you got this!
@iLive2Walk cookies are my downfall. When the pandemic started and we were home for 3 months I was doing a lot of baking. And eating dozen cookies a day was not unusual.
@judefit1 you are doing great. you deserved those margaritas.
@jm216 diet fatigue is a struggle and can really derail progress. Glad you took a break and are back on track.
AFM:
I had a bit of a rebound but still lower them when I started. Sticking to my eating plan and getting over 12k steps. Haven't started weights yet but will once I'm fully in the swing in a week or 2. Checked my blood ketones last night and I'm at 1.0 definitely back in ketosis and I feel the extra energy coming back. Now to keep it going through my vacation which starts today after work. Just staying home. But with all that time on my hands I have to be mindful of snack attacks.

04/24-- Today I take the short round trip (about 3 hours) to look at an investment opportunity. I hope to have a good day with my eating. I donβt worry about my meals since I enjoy the foods on my plan very much. Itβs the snacks and the night time. Having bouts with my binge eating disorder is not just disruptive, itβs dangerous for my diabetes and my overall health too. Iβm really trying to get it under control. I did talk to the doctor yesterday about it a bit. However, he was not my regular doctor, he was on loan to help my doctor catch up on his work load. All he basically did was order another A1C saying that any rise in my sugar numbers could be causing the symptoms. I tried to explain that itβs the other way around. The symptoms are what causes me to binge and raise my sugar numbers. He did make it clear that the larger glucose numbers will cause a hunger that cannot be filled. It would make me eat and eat. In the end, I donβt think he wanted to step on my docβs toes and address a βnew issueβ on his own so I got no answers on how to fix all this. Hopefully the labs will be passed onto my doc along with the appointment notes and Iβll hear something. I was really at the appt to re-check the foot issue anyway but the loaner doc said that my foot, likely diabetic neuropathy according to the hospital, is also just another symptom of the unstable diabetes even though I still feel like I probably actually stepped on something causing an injury. Maybe some answers will come of all this. I love when I have my strong days when the cogs on the wheels work so smoothly together and dieting is easy and doesnβt feel like dieting at all. I hate these hard times, weak times, bad times. I donβt always understand how it flips from one to the other so easily. What a roller coaster! What a journey! What a ride this is!
04/25βI got the call and our eyeglasses are ready for pickup. Due to meeting buses and babysitting tonight, overnight and tomorrow, I wonβt be picking them up until Saturday. This will give me two days at home to try and get back on track with both diet and exercise. My foot continues to get better and better. I usually donβt weigh on Fridays anyway due to the bus schedule and the Fosamax medication taken only on Friday mornings so weighing in will have to wait still. However, I will track my food which is much easier to do when eating at home. I appreciate all the comments of support and understanding. No worries, my friends. Iβll never throw in the towel. Iβm too stubborn of a Taurus for that. I just need a mental break from it all during a time that is more challenging than I usually have to deal with. Just too much all at once. Iβll be fine. Today, I start using my tools again. I just worry about tonightβ¦β¦If I can get through that, I can accomplish anything!

I need to get it together!
April 25: 153 π£ π π₯ πͺ π¦ Party was fun; Mom was happy. I adjusted my breakfast and dinner to make up for the lunch and the goodies I ate at the party, but was over my sodium limit which is probably why I'm up again today.3 -

I'm still dropping water. Crazy how much I was holding. I'm hoping fat is next. These large over night losses should start slowing very soon. I definitely feel less swollen and a pain I was having in my knee is gone. Got 14k steps yesterday. Stuck to plan and got 7.5 hours sleep π₯³ . Today hubs and I are going to look at patio furniture. I'm excited! Will have to be careful of lunch. I know he will want to eat out. π

04/26-DNW- I typically donβt weigh on Fridays. Yesterday I stuck to my eating plan. When the snack monster creeped in last night after I already had my snack, I ate some beef jerky. It may have put me slightly over calorie, Iβm not sure, but it was definitely better than previous nights. On the mend? Zero exercise as I babysat yesterday after meeting the school bus. I simply ran out of time once the workers left. Iβll try for some movement this morning before they get here since Iβm up early for the school bus for DGS. But first, coffeeβ¦coffeeβ¦coffee.

04/15: 342.2 ( I have to stay away from that devilish Chick-fil-A sauce, added it to my chicken last night for some added flavor, love the taste, but it has so much fat in a serving, it is insane! π¨ )

I've been staying within my calorie goal for the most part and having long walks but the damn salt will mess you up. Have to see what happens tomorrow on scale.π€)

Thanks @TheRusticRebel My streak is 98 days. π When I started in April, I never pictured getting in the low 190βs, much less close to 180βs. My goal was 199 for the past 40 years. Yep, Iβve been morbidly obese for 40 years. Iβm going to keep going!
