    Thanks for thinking of me Lanette. I live in the Texas Hill Country now. All of my friends are safe. One friend lives in Sulphur, OK. Her town was hit hard, but she and her family are all good.

    Okie - thanks for checking in! Glad you were weren't affected. I saw photos of Sulphur - terrible devastation, glad your friend and her family are all good.

    Vicki has been on my mind quite a bit lately. Hope we hear from her soon.

    Rita - Thanks for posting the rest of the story! Lots of work for you, hope it was fun for you, as well. :smiley:

    Annie - Corey bought a battery-operated walk behind for me that's self-propelled or not, as you choose, and it takes a tremendous amount of effort out of the process. No gas, just keeping the battery charged in between mows. It has a 45-minute charge so it limits the amount of effort due to that, as well. Mine's a Ryobi, and I'm quite happy with it. It starts with a push button, and it comes with a bag that you can use or skip, if you prefer to mulch instead.

    Spent a couple of hours working flat out in the house, and got a lot of the things done that I wanted to accomplish. Even got myself to vacuum!

    And, in the meantime, met the new downhill neighbor. So young, which I assumed with the little rugrats running around. I had a great first impression of her, and they've already done a lot to clean up a place that was just used as a cockroach-infested drug shack and trashpit by the last three sets of people over the last six years. I hope they stay, and welcomed her as much as I could. I hope they stay, but the place is in such bad shape, and the landlords will do nothing to help clean it up or fix it up. They're paying a very low amount for rent, but there's a reason for that.

    Anyway, off to bed, my chickens,

    Forgot, the best part of selling all the stuff was that it was all "my" stuff-none of his Godzilla stuff sold.
    When he goes to the shows he always sells a bunch of his and just some of the other regular stuff. I know this show was different but I also know he pushes his stuff more too. He makes more money on his stuff/higher priced, but I make up in volumn.

    Left to go to class on time, get to the corner and the light comes on to check my tire so turned around and came home. Flat tire- piece of metal in the tire and a big slit. Have to go get a new tire in the morning. DH changed it, took about 20 min so was just a little late to class instead of 15 min early

    Now I'm into Season 2 of The Bletchley Circle. On the edge of my seat! :#

    Need to figure out what's next. Maybe reruns of Vera? :p

    I've always envied those with colouring and those who do not need to wear makeup. But I inherited my half-dead look from my mother, along with her horrible cellulite. I hate looking in the mirror and seeing her sad, old, tired face and eyes. Hence the lift to my spirits when I make the effort.

    My new steamer worked beautifully. I now have two pristine t shirts . Just like being on a cruise!

    I went looking for that stuff and discovered it is fairly expensive. ($20 for what looks about the size of a toothpaste tube). I'll stick with my current foundation. I bought a bit of it when the brand vanished from stores several years ago and I still have enough to last me for years to come.

    That's the only make-up I use ... just a thin layer of foundation.

    I'm fortunate, I guess, to have a southern European/Mediterranean light tan on my face almost all the time. If I am out in the sun, and I burn, the next day, I am back to a light tan. If I spend many days in the sun and my arms and legs get dark, my face has a light tan. If I spend time indoors through the winter and the dark tan on my arms and legs goes away, my face still appears to have a light tan ... until right near the end of winter if I haven't spent any time outside in months ... then I go a bit pale and people start asking me if I am OK. But usually a month later I am back to the light tan.

    Nice but also probably why I had skin cancer on my nose for so long before finally getting it taken care of. I do spend a lot of time outside but my face doesn't change colour. So I didn't think of my nose being in danger.

    Have you thought about dying your hair dark and doing it in a Phryne Fisher bob? Like in the 1920s? Pale skin dark bob. It might be a good look for you. 😀

    Rusty, I'm sorry to hear about your son's surgery. The end of the year is a long time to wait!

    Rebecca, Lanette and Lisa, thanks for chiming in about lawnmowers. Lots of ideas rumbling around in my head. Rebecca you are right that as long as there is a lawnmower here, my dad will use it! He talks about hiring a neighbor kid, but that's not common anymore.

    There's nothing on the calendar today which means he will ask me what he should do. Hmm.

    I need to get my tires looked at. I put air in, but a week later the light came back on.

    Rusty - I'm sorry the surgery to reverse the stoma is so far away. I know it has to be frustrating for you both. It does sound like a rational motivation for weight loss

    Machka - Do you carry dual citizenship, or did you have to give up your Canadian citizenship once you got your Australian status?

    Heather - I found the Neutrogena CC cream on sale, and with a $4 coupon, on Amazon, so picked up a tube of it for just over $6. It's ordinarily $18, so I was pleased. No idea if I picked the right shade, always hard to tell on a computer, but we'll see. Unfortunately, it also means my feeds are now FILLED with ads for makeup. :neutral: Just annoying.

    Laundry going, dishes about to be started. Absolutely gorgeous morning outside, but a little chilly for me yet.

    My friend is on her way, they spent the night in Gallup, New Mexico, after a stop in Winslow, Arizona, and to see the Meteor Crater. I'm glad they're enjoying the trip across. They should be here by Thursday. They'll be fine, they will stay on I-40 all the way through, but it's a little stressful. They usually travel about 300 miles a day. And honestly, once you're past Albuquerque, there's not much to look at. (I keep hearing Bugs Bunny's voice, "I knew I shoulda taken that left toin at Al-buh-koi-kee! :smiley: )

    Got the oven on self-clean, a few hours left for that to finish, dishes running in the dishwasher, washer and dryer going, and while all that's in progress, going to get my yoga going. Restless sleep last night, and didn't do my yoga yesterday. I apparently need the yoga to help my body sleep well, but am wary of pushing a body that breaks down quite easily. Have to find a happy medium somehow. I'll figure it out eventually.

    In the meantime, it's time to get my groove on, baby... 👟🧘🏻💪🏻🏋🏻‍♀️🐈‍⬛ Egg is reasonably unimpressed. :smiley:

    @Annie I agree. No mower available= he can’t mow. Getting a rider will give him means of going down the road, or ‘go for a ride’ somewhere he shouldn’t. Hiring someone and giving them the mower would be my suggestions as well.

    :)Annie, Jake bought a battery powered lawn mower, trimmer, and leaf blower. They have enabled him to do far more yard work than he would have otherwise. Because the battery lasts only 30-60 minutes, they limit how long he can work in one session.

    Annie - Another thought on the battery operated mower if you are considering that route.
    My DH had many tools and chargers for the Ryobi brand like Lisa is using (no mower.) When I went to use his Ryobi string trimmer, I discovered my hands weren't big and strong enough to release the battery from the tool. They may have changed it, but his required a firm squeeze on both sides to depress the clips securing the battery. I couldn't manage that.

    So I went shopping and found the Stihl was not a problem and favorite of "old ladies" according to the dealer, lol. I now have three batteries and three chargers for the string trimmer, leaf blower, and mower. (Each tool came with a charger.) I get around 20 minutes from the smaller batteries and if I want to go longer I pop out the battery, stick it in a charger, and put a charged one in and keep going.

    By the way, Rita and Rebecca had a good point. I knew an old fella who had his license pulled so he decided to drive his lawnmower to town one day (on a state highway, lol.)

    A local lawn service/mower would make things a lot easier. ;) Unless you want to take over and get the exercise. That's why I didn't get a self-propelled mower. Pushing mine around is a workout but I don't mind. Might change my mind in a year or two.

    Great job on the bike and walking, you are back in the groove. :p

    Lisa - I know you'll have a great time with your friend. Best visitors we ever had was DH's cousin and wife. DH gave them his car keys (he was retired by then) and they spent a day at Mt. St. Helens then another day at the coast. I really enjoyed hearing them reminisce and tell funny stories about relatives and people they knew in common. I know it did my DH a world of good. We were sorry to see them leave.

    Rebecca - sorry to hear about the toe! Ouch! Makes my once-broken toe ache just reading about it. Glad your kitchen will be put back together. Cabinets are a good sign. ;)

    Painful night. :# Still not much better, but it's easier to distract myself in the daytime.
    I've prepared roasted cauliflower and sauce vierge for when John gets back. Having it with Lincolnshire sausages.
    While John was out, I made a quick card for him, for our meeting anniversary next Monday. 21 years!!!! Same day as Max's birthday. He's taken the card he painted for him over there. On Monday, a Bank Holiday, we are having lunch at a famous local gastropub with John's younger daughter.
    I've got a few presents for our morning opening session. Ordered them this morning. :D

    My brother is coming to us tomorrow after lunch for a couple of hours. I hope he will say hello to my old school friends at my Zoom at 4 pm. We all used to be in the same Drama Club and he had a crush on them! Then he and his wife will go off to see DSIL'S niece. May pop in later to say goodbye. I expect they will leave their car in our drive and get the bus into town.
    I've chosen one of my painted cards for him.

    Lisa - hope the cc cream is just as good for you as it is for me. My new hypoallergenic mascara isn't perfect, but much better than my old one. My eyes aren't streaming by the evening.

    Rita - What fun the story was! I can feel it energised you. Looking forward to the next one.

    Rusty - Waiting for an unknown date is really hard. He is so lucky to have you 💖

    Yoga's done, added a few new moves (in green) and moved a few around. Added a number of repetitions and time ticks to quite a few moves. Total 38 minutes, 220 calories. Happy with that.

    Another half hour, the oven will finally be in cool down mode and I'll be able to stay in the kitchen for more than a few moments at a time! Wanted to get the cleaning done now, as once the weather gets hot, it's just not an option to use the Self Clean, it heats up the whole house!

    Got a couple more things to take care of on my list for today, and now that my yoga's complete, I will do whatever my energy will allow, pretty much. Beautiful day, warmest so far this year, supposed to get up to 86 (30C). Already beginning to get muggy. Hanging sheets on the line is the next chore, and after that, getting some old paint smears off the floor from the laundry room and pantry painting and my refrigerator mural... such fun! :blush:

    Hello, Friends,
    83F in Jacksonville, FL

    Busy weekend with the grandson's. Jake put new LVP in Tim's room, so all of Tim's stuff stored around the house with the boys running around was a bit chaotic, but we made some cookies, went for a few walks, and made the best of it.

    The fluffballs and their parents have moved on for now. Makes sense since the pond where the nest was is fenced in. If Mama Goose had waited too long to move the family, the kids wouldn't have been about to get out of the fence until they could fly. Hopefully, they will all venture back soon.

    My daughter, Stevany, stabbed herself at the base of the thumb trying to clean hair out of her vacuum. She is a combat medic with the National Guard, so she cleaned up the wound, stopped the bleeding, and glued it shut. She was having a lot of pain, so she went to one urgent care who told her to go an ER because they couldn't x-ray it. (I think the tech was out, but Stevany wasn't clear on the reason). She went to another who said it needed a CT, which she would have to go to an ER for. I was a bit livid at this point. Urgent care is to keep people OUT of the ER. Patch 'em up, refer them to a primary or specialist if needed. Here they were pushing her to go to the ER.

    She was frustrated so, I met up with her and took her to a freestanding ER. They did do an x-ray, which looked good. Gave her pain meds, antibiotics, and the doc even told her how to take a vacuum apart. :D Even if the first urgent care didn't have access to their x-ray machine (I know they have one), the other one should have been able to treat her. I got her and Jack lunch, we picked up her meds, and got her settled at home. Checked on her last night and she was feeling pretty good after pain meds. This morning she is almost pain-free and the hand is much less swollen.

    Rita- thanks for wrapping up that story. That was fun! If we do it again, is there away to do it separate from the main thread? I don't get to check in every day and it was hard to catch up sometimes. Either that or I need to figure out if these groups are searchable somehow.

    :)Annie As you figure out what to do about your dad and mowing the lawn, it might be important to find out whether he is motivated by wanting a tidy lawn or does he actually enjoy mowing

    Linda-random thought on urgent care-they may not have had the correct staffing. More medical facilities are running into that. Hope she heal quickly!
