Hope you all have a safe and enjoyable Memorial Day weekend as we remember all of our fallen heroes.
We lost our tennis match, which is a bummer, just a lot of errors on our part. My partner was having an off day and she kept apologizing, but honestly, no need, we all have off days!!!! We went for a quick drink afterwards.
Then hubby and I played 9 holes- and he didn’t book a cart! Ugh dude, I played tennis for two hours in the hot sun! Why are we walking??? Grrr. So dinner and one glass of wine.
I didn’t go over my alcohol limit, ate two salads with protein plus half a burger and some nuts…. And the freaking scale didn’t move! I must have burned 600 calories yesterday, and nothing. So frustrating.

Good morning!
Yep, we all have off days @Womona. Great
reminder.
On the exercise front……I didn’t expect to love the 29-minute circuit training class yesterday, but did. I haven’t used my muscles in these ways in years (13 different stations). Surprisingly it didn’t involve my neck or pulling anything out of whack! Will definitely rotate this new class.
On the alcohol front……changed my mind last night and had two glasses of white wine with a quiet evening searching online for new window shades.
AF tonight - babysitting grandkids!
Nice to see my 10 days finally! 😊 congrats to those who are making LA happen and encouragement to those who need it today.

Drank a bottle of wine again last night but for no other reason than I just did.😕 But, no drinking tonight.6 -
I know the jury is out about NA beers. Some feel they are triggering while some find them a helpful way to stay AF or LA. For me, I enjoy one, or two max, in place of a regular one. I have been mostly AF for the better part of 3 months and completely AF the last 2 weeks. My liver enzymes were high on my last blood test and the doc told me to completely stop drinking. As of NOW, I do not miss it at all. Tomorrow, who knows? That's why they say take it one day at a time. I will do more blood work in a couple months to see if it has improved.
I wish everyone a safe and happy Memorial Day.5 -

I wish I liked beer more! NA beer sounds like the perfect compromise. I am enjoying the lower alcohol white wine. Wegman’s didn’t have what I normally buy, so tonight I will try Cupcake Light Heart Pinot Grigio. Hope it’s decent!
Went sailing yesterday, which was lovely. Back at it again today. I really need to stick to just one drink on the boat. Also need to rein in the calories! Went way over yesterday with food. I should have logged as I went instead of doing it this morning. Lesson learned.

Still haven't had a drop of alcohol in 26 days and I'm really proud of myself. I do plan on having some on our big trip, but even then I'm going to limit. We'll see.
But I am starting to feel the difference in being alcohol-free. Mostly in my sleep habits and just generally how I feel. I definitely have a better attitude because of that. So I'm going to try going back AF after our trip.8 -
@danikat15 I agree how LA can improve attitude! I notice this in myself as well. Great job on your AF goals.

@danikat15 What a great accomplishment! Good for you!
@NonnieDoiron Hugs to you. You've got this!
No drinking for the next 4 nights will make me 15 AF and 14 A before we have one more cruise with family. I'm ok with that considering I will have been on a cruise 10 out of the 31 days in May.

Thanks for the hugs, @chicbuc. Very much needed lately.
No drinking today, but have been baking and cooking. I made Glazed Blueberry Rolls and Blueberry Whoopie Pies. My MIL bought a metric ton of frozen fruit and never ate it like she said she would. It’s taking up all kinds of space in my freezers, so I’m trying to use it up instead of throwing it away. I’m also slow cooking a brisket tonight for tomorrow’s family get-together It smells divine in my house right now!
Have a good night!4 -

Only one drink on the boat yesterday. Beautiful sailing weather, we logged 13 nautical miles!!! Had two glasses of the low alcohol Cupcake Lightheart Pinot Grigio. It was good, very light but so are most Pinots. So my favorite is the Decoy Featherweight, then the Cupcake lightheart. Third place is the Kim Crawford Illuminate.
Today is a cookout- or maybe a cook-in since it’s supposed to storm all day. They mostly serve beer so I’ll probably just stick to water.5 -
8th Week Report -- Alcohol Free Diet
Consecutive Days AF: 56
Starting date & weight: 04/02/2024 & 174.5#
Today's date & weight: 05/27/2024 & 160.1#
Total Weight Lost: 14.1#
Wt Lost this Wk: 2.0#
Ave Weekly Rate of Loss: 1.7625#
Ave Daily Rate of Loss: 0.252#
Wt Range This Past Wk: 160.1-162.1#
Original Goal Weight: 160#
Adjusted Goal Weight: 158#
Wt Loss Remaining: 2.1#
Estimated target date: June 4-5, 2024
Only changes in diet: No alcohol of any kind & reduced portion sizes.
Daily cal intake: ~1500-1600 cal
Primary form of exercise: Rowing - 10k meters/day; 7 days/wk; 70 mins & 500 cals/day.
Note:
My original goal wt was 160 and my wt today was 160.1. I'm only 1/10th off. So, I'm calling it "mission accomplished!"
When I was "in maintenance" @ 160# before, my wt varied between about 158-162.
So, my goal now is to stay w/in this weight range and, in the short term, I want to get back down to 158, which is now my adjusted goal weight, which I can reasonably expect to reach w/in another 8-9 days.
I'm going to remain AF to do this and, after I reach 158, I'll have to decide whether to remain AF or to start drinking booze again and, if so, how to go about doing that in order to stay @ 160.
We'll see . . .

So happy to have found this group and plan to participate fully in June 2024.
16 = AF in May and plan to remain AF until May ends.
My story in a nutshell: I like to drink craft beer and I have gained ~ 10 lbs from this habit. One craft beer can have >350 cal/12 oz.
I play golf, swim, go to the gym and walk but this weight has not budged. This is when I looked into the cals in a high ABV beer. Then it all made sense.
My goal is to lose 10 lbs sensibly (I eat plant based and high protein), continue my activity level BUT eliminate beer drinking with the exception of 1 day/week when I will have 1 beer.
Does this make sense or should I go for total AF. I do not have problem drinking and rarely go past 1 beer BUT the alcohol is very high in these craft beers.
Again happy that I found this site. All the best to everyone with their individual goals.6 -

I chose to go entirely AF during my current weight loss effort because it allows for no excuses.
Your plan makes sense to me, as long as you're counting your cals & weighing yourself regularly (which recommend be done daily) & can stick with your commitment to just have 1 beer/wk.
It may take a bit longer for you to achieve your goal, even if you're only drinking 1 beer/wk, but you should achieve that goal eventually, as long as you are consistent in that effort.
Good luck!
