Hello,
My name is Kat! I am new to My Fitness Pal, but I am no stranger go trying to lose weight. I have severe PCOS along with other health conditions that have made it practically impossible to try and lose weight.
I have tried just about every diet there is and none have worked over the last 10 years.
I know that if I stay at the weight I’m currently at, that my life will be shortened. So I did a lot of work on things in my life before I started this journey, to prepare myself so that when I started, I could really focus on this journey and not have things happen that could derail me. I’m in it for the long haul!
I’m on week 2 of the GLP-1 and so far it has had many benefits! I didn’t know that it could help with the side effects of PCOS. Between the advice of my doctors, research, talking to others in my situation or ones similar, starting the journey with a GLP-1 combined with keeping track of nutrition is going to be key. And I have already seen weight loss just in my first two weeks!
I have had way less hunger and this app has been great to start using as a place to track everything.
I would love to make friends as time goes on. I have 150 lbs minimum to lose and I am already starting to think about how amazing it will feel to be active again, fit in my old clothes that I love, and regulating my body to achieve optimal health. I finally have hope that a new lifestyle can work and will help me forge a healthier body.
I would love to hear from others who are not only taking a GLP-1, but have seen success and also those that have not. What did you end up doing?
Changing your weight and lifestyle habits can be a very lonesome journey. So I welcome all who are in/starting this lifestyle change and also using
GLP-1. I lost 8 lbs in my first week! I know that might be water weight, but that has never happened with any other diet/lifestyle change in the last 10 years!
I am excited to meet others and for all the positive things to come!

Hi Kat, Thanks for your post. My husband and I took our first shot yesterday. He wants 50 lbs. gone, me at least 75. The only thing we know to do is get enough protein and still stay regular. Well so far so good. Good luck with your journey.2

Hi Kat,
I'm no stranger to My Fitness Pal but I have just started on Mounjaro. I took my first shot on Monday.
My journey is different but similar to yours in the fact that I started the GLP-1 for health reasons. I've been overweight for about 30 years, but recently my A1C has been out of control. I've tried just diabetic medications and kind of changed my eating habits but not really. I also have an eating disorder, (binge eating and withholding) so it's difficult for me to stick with making healthier choices. After 3 years of medications and my A1C just going up, my doctor said it's now affecting my kidneys and I absolutely have to lose some weight and figure out this food thing, so here I am!!
Side effects so far have been minimal so thank the gods and goddesses for that.
Here's to all of us being successful!!3 -
Hey kat wish u well on mfp go get it0

Hi Kat!
I just started Ozempic Friday so I’m eager to see what this first week brings. I believe I have already gotten a few benefits though, as I’ve not really wanted food the last two days. I’m doing everything I can to get my protein on and stay hydrated. I’d love to hear an update from you since it’s been 2 months since your post.
amyshield - I struggle with ththe exact same binge eating disorders you do. I’ve seen therapists and specialists and still struggle. How are you doing since starting GLP-1?
Here’s to everyone’s success!1 -
Hi Kat. I started using Semaglutide 2 weeks ago. I’m 69 and am on a GLP-1 to help with cardio, diabetes, and weight loss. I have spent 40 years battling my weight. This week I have for the first time experienced what a miracle the absence of food noise is in my life. I am a caregiver for my older sister with dementia and finally have embraced that it’s okay to be a caregiver also for myself. I am nervous and hopeful.4

Hi Kat! I have lengthy history with GLP-1 going back 3 years. Was ozempic for 2 years but ran into some struggles with insurance. Was off it from January to April and regained 30 lbs! Back on Wegovy now for 5 months and starting to lose again. My focus this time is to eat healthier foods and lose more than I did the first go round. My goal was 60 lbs but I only made it to 40. 😬 how have you been doing?0

I've been on wegovy for about 7 months and have lost 42 pounds. If anybody has questions or needs to talk, i feel you and would be happy to.1

Seven MONTHS on Wegovy and I have not shifted a single gram.
It has stopped the desire to binge and quelled the 24/7 food noise, but hasn't helped with the feelings of satiety. Most people I talk to crow about the "can't eat one more bite" factor or even feeling queasy if they eat too much. No such reaction here.
And no, I don't need anyone pointing out having to diet with or without meds. No sh#t Sherlock. I'm just posting to say I don't see any difference between meds and no meds. For me, it's always been ONLY about a strict calorie count. Luckily, my insurance covers the meds, but on whole - it's been a $9K USD waste of money. YMMV.0 -
I took ozempic for 2 years and barely lost anything. Maybe 3-5 pounds. I still felt hungry a lot of the time. I exercised and tried to limit my calories. I just didn't have success with it. However, I stopped taking it and gained 20 pounds.
Fast forward to now. I started taking rybelsus about 4 months ago. It's in pill form, which I prefer. On the starting dose I didn't feel much of a difference but still was able to lose 10 pounds. It must have been helping. Then my weight stagnated for a month or so. I am now on a 14 mg dose and for the first time since taking this type of medication I really feel a decrease in appetite! I have lost another 5 pounds in the past month. I'm thrilled. If I keep going this way I feel confident that I can lose this weight and reach my goal. It's a relief to feel full and not have to eat all the time.
