@enlightenme3 is traveling, so I'm posting this month's challenge on their behalf.

@enlightenme3 would normally say, "πŸ˜€ Welcome all new first timers to this challenge and "Hello again" to those returning for another month, another year, another round. πŸ˜€"

@enlightenme3 joined back in September of 2021, which was their first month back on MFP. In the first 9 months, @enlightenme3 lost 40 pounds and uses this challenge as motivation to stay on track. It is nice to have a medium-term goal that gets broken down into manageable chunks.

Pick your own goal, check in once per week, and at the very end of the month. Let's keep encouraging each other & staying focused on our individual goals.

You can change the dates to suit you, but try to keep it weekly as it shows off the weekly progress betterπŸ˜€

Pick whatever unit suits you -- lbs, kg’s or stones.

Feel free to copy & paste the chart:

August Start Weight:
August Goal Weight:
Ultimate Goal Weight:

August 1:
August 8:
August 15:
August 22:
August 29:
August 31:

For those unsure how to do your weekly weight input:
When you want to do your weekly update do a search for your original post, copy and paste as a new post in the add post box then you can edit in your new weekly weight. A lot of people also maintain their post in a notes application on their device and just cut and paste into a new post.

It’s not a race go at your on pace, imagine where you could be in 6 months time!πŸ˜€

Best of luck to everyone - have fun! πŸ˜€πŸ˜€

The last two months the weight loss has ground to a crawl. I'm ok with losing a lb a week and even that has been tough. Hopefully Aug. will be a good month as summer winds down. Best of luck to everyone.

    Hi Everyone,

Thank you @mtaratoot for continuing the challenge. I restarted my weight loss journey (for like the 30th time) just last month. I was at my heaviest 194.5 lbs. I had been trying on my own during the Spring to lose some weight. I would have a few good days, or a week even, and off I went again (usually for Ice cream). Since joining this challenge, I was able to shed 9 lbs. in July. And although I'm a year away from my goal, I am just so happy I am re-focused on making the number on the scale move downward again. The business of weight loss is simple, not easy. If you create a calorie deficit and sustain that deficit over time, the pounds tend to come off. Plateaus will and do happen. They are the most discouraging part of dieting (for me anyways). Dig deep and resolve to weather the storm. The sun shines brightly a short distance away. You deserve this! Good luck to all.

Hi, I’m back for August. Been on MFP for a year and a half and lost 12 lbs. and gained a couple back since spring. Goal is to get to 144 by my 65th birthday in October. I stayed exactly the same weight in July (up/down but ever so slightly).

My short term goal before next WI is staying within caloric range and increasing protein and vegetables.

08/04-189.2-(Trend Weight: 189.8)- We went to a Casino yesterday to celebrate my oldest DGS’ 18th birthday. It was one of the few casinos that allow an 18 year old in to gamble. My son and I lost about $250.00 over several hours but we had fun. The birthday boy was very conservative with his money and did much better than the rest of us. I was happy it was a fun experience for him. He had brought along a best friend. Both breakfast and dinner was out with the whole gang so it’s showing up on the scale today. However, my trend weight is still inching down so I am going to try to plan, as best as I can with DD and DGS here, to have a good low calorie, low carb healthy day. I want to hurry and get back on track before my trend weight notices that I strayed.

Hi. This week's weigh in was disappointing. Although I stayed within my daily calories, I only lost .5 lbs. I should have had better results. I don't care for intermittent fasting, but I do recall getting better results last year. Eating within a 6 hour time frame, while fasting for 18 hours is really difficult for me. Chronic insomnia amplifies this. I feel like I'm starving myself. I prefer to spread my calories out during the day across 12 hours. I may not have a choice though. If after a week of seriously hard work, I only losing .5 pounds, I know I won't stick with it. It's too soon to plateau. I will tweak what I can and work toward doing better next week. Maybe I will try 8/16 hour plan this week. I hope you guys have better results this week. Good luck!

I’m starting my reverse trend and had a successful week in terms of sticking to my calorie goal most days in MFP (allowance of 50-100 extra on a few days). Working to get back to my February start weight of 146 before next week and then go down from there.
Had sugar yesterday, so none for another week!

@Juslilly while only a .5 pound seems disappointing to you, it is still a loss!

I would say keep up the positive changes that you implemented because weight loss usually takes time while eating in a caloric deficit, and it’s not really about intermittent fasting. Just a personal opinion if you are looking for lasting change. But we all have to find what works for us.

@Michieb125 You're absolutely right! Thanks for the encouragement. I did some research yesterday on counting macros. I thought maybe that would speed things along. After applying the formula to my own stats, I figured out that I would need to eat 1,630 calories daily just to maintain my weight. Since I am averaging about 1,230 a day, it would take me 9 days to burn 3,600 calories. 3,500 calories is equal to a pound. The fact that 2 out of my 7 days last week were actually at 1,350 calories, it makes perfect sense that I would only lose .5 lbs. Factor in a compromised thyroid, and my goal of sustaining a 2 pound loss per week is unrealistic. I can do a little better if I add a bit of exercise, but I'm right where I should be because the math is the math.
