    08/23-190.0-(Trend Weight 190.4)- Neurologist called and said I have borderline damage from diabetes to my feet. He said that was good news. No surgery or treatments necessary at this time. I donโ€™t need to see him again unless problems get worse. Finally some good news! Another good tidbit, Iโ€™m down 0.6 for the round. Itโ€™s just half a pound but itโ€™s progress in the right direction. I know I can do better, I still have to work on the snack issues, but Iโ€™m so happy to see any loss. While Iโ€™m still on the struggle bus with many of you, my attitude is good and Iโ€™m really appreciating all the support. Tomorrow is a birthday party so I will try to make today a good day since Iโ€™m finally home all day. I started with my Youtube workout this morning which is a step in the right direction. What I can, when I can and always striving for improvement! See you next round.

    08/24-DNW-(Trend Weight DNW)- No-weigh Saturday this week instead of Friday. I forgot to take my Fosamax yesterday so I took it this morning. Good meals yesterday but snacks were bad. I canโ€™t blame my daughter this time (although she had her totes and bags of candy with her). It was all my own fault this time as I over-ate my snacks alone. I did manage to avoid hers. Today is DGDโ€™s birthday party. Iโ€™ll travel about 60 miles each way. I probably wonโ€™t bother to weigh tomorrow as I already know how the party food and my inability to take my Lasix will affect me. Pointless. Iโ€™ll be back on board Monday for sure.

    Hello I'm Darlene. Retired, 64-year-old. Married (Greg), one adult daughter (Allyson), and one goldendoodle (Monty), back for another month with this supportive group. I have been on this weight loss journey since January 2023, and with this group since April 2023. I have lost 84.5 pounds since the beginning of my journey. This group (along with a couple others I am in) has played a very important part in me reaching my goals. Thank you jm216 for setting it up again this month!     My July Reflection for anyone who cares to read:
    July Reflection

    July was a tough month for me. I do not really understand why I lost motivation this month, but probably a combination of not being able to do my normal exercise routine coupled with getting close to my goal and self-sabotage.

    I lost 1.5 pounds this month. My goal was to at least lose 2% of my body weight which would have been about 3 pounds. I got close for a couple of days โ€“ but then went over the top and gained some back. The good thing is that I got back at it right away and did not allow the one-day binges to continue into a weekend, or weeklong binge. Down 84.5 pounds since I started this journey.

    Exercise was different for me this month as well. The doctor asked that complete non weight bearing exercises, so no real walking. My strength, cardio, stretch, and steps were all done in the chair most of the month. I did get the green light to start up again at the end of the month and am slowly transitioning from chair to standing.

    Now for the good news โ€“ I reached the 1,500-mile marker on my quest to walk 2,024 miles in 2024, logging about 150 miles in July (mostly seated). I found a place on my Garmin app which gives me the total intentional exercise time โ€“ so much easier for me to track my second goal which was 2,024 miles of intentional exercise (I count 20 minutes as a mile). I was previously doing it on an excel spreadsheet โ€“ which probably wasnโ€™t too accurate. With this new calculation I am at 1,181 miles to date โ€“ just where I should be to complete it for the year. I can do it.

    There are a lot of obstacles in my way for the month of August. Family picnic this weekend, followed by my birthday, then a three-day girlโ€™s trip to Turning Stone Casino, and then finally a three-day trip for my wedding anniversary. With that in mind am going to keep the same goal as July โ€“ a 2% loss. Yes, I would love to see that ideal number (3.5 pounds), but that dangling carrot hasnโ€™t helped me with my goals, so am going to shoot for that in September when it is much more reachable. It is also break time for both the Hogwarts and BLC challenges โ€“ so need to motivate myself โ€“ not as easy to do.

    I have thought a lot about what my final goal should be. My initial goal was five pounds under the ideal range or 135 pounds. But when I look at myself, I still do not see fit. So am adjusting it to 100-pound loss or January 8, 2025 (my two-year starting date) whichever comes first.

    PRIOR WEEKS
    Aug 1: 142.8 ๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ‘ฃ ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿฅ— ๐Ÿ’ช ๐Ÿ’ฆ ๐Ÿง‚ I'll never get it - didn't really do anything different - but a nice swish. Nothing exciting happening - end of the month is reflection and budget day so spent a good amount of time at the computer. I added a new goal this month - declutter - thinking one declutter thing a week. We'll see how that goes on my goal to become more minimalistic. My Aunt cancelled the family picnic that was planned for this weekend. My other Aunt is up from Florida and we were all going to get together - but it is supposed to rain all day so she cancelled. I'm sorry to see it because I haven't seen a couple of my cousins in a long time - but one less temptation this month is probably a good thing as August is filled with one to many for me.

    Aug 2: 142.7 ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘ฃ ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿฅ— ๐Ÿฆต๐Ÿซ€ ๐Ÿ’ฆ ๐Ÿง‚Nice day yesterday, went out on the boat, a little dip in the water. I love our little lake (which only town resisdents can use). I counted the boats that were on the water - 2 boats, 1 jet ski, and a paddle board (plus us). My knee was feeling great yesterday, and I got in 17K steps. This was my daily goal pre knee injury so was so happy to see it. I'm feeling a little sore this morning though, so will curb it a little today.

    Aug 3: 142.4 ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘ฃ ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿฅ— ๐Ÿ’ช ๐Ÿ’ฆ ๐Ÿง‚Hot and Humid in Connecticut yesterday. Got our walk in, but was super sticky. We harvested our first pot of potatoes (we picked the little one to see how they were doing) and got seven good potatoes from the pot. Super happy with that. After a terrible garden year, it was nice to see some profits from our work. We talked about next year's garden and all we can seem to grown this year is tomatoes and potatoes (and ok arugula). Even the fruit trees - no apples, no pears - we do have peaches but the squirrels are taking them one by one before they are ripe. No big plans for today - it's also going to be a hot and humid one.

    Aug 4: 142.5 ๐Ÿ‘ฃ ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿฅ—๐Ÿฆต๐Ÿซ€ ๐Ÿ’ฆ ๐Ÿง‚One of my spare bedrooms has my treadmill in it and a weight machine. We had a twin sized bed in there as well (it was Allyson's room way back when). Finally decided to get rid of the bed. Also cleaned out the bureau - now the bureau is empty (going to move some things from my bedroom to make it so my closet isn't stuffed) and we moved the ab chair into the room. Threw away a big bag of stuff, another big bag going to good will and a couple bags of stuff for Allyson to go through. If she doesn't want it another two bags to goodwill. Now it is truely a workout room. ๐Ÿ˜Š

    Aug 5: 142.9 ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿฅ— ๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿง‚Rest and stretch day for me. I also didn't get all my water in - hoping the uptick is just that. Tonight is bingo with the Mom and the gang. Celebrating my birthday (and one of the other in Mom's circle of friends). So will have a light eating day today to make up for the cupcakes tonight. Prelogged my day and if I stick to it should still end up with a deficit. Cleaned out the closet in the workout room - another two bags to goodwill.

    Aug 6: 143.2 ๐Ÿ‘ฃ ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿฆต ๐Ÿ’ฆ ๐Ÿง‚Totally expected, the cupcake sugar high made me ravenous and when I got home I binged - added another 650 calories of junk to the mix. Back at it today. Good thing is that I won for a change - went bingo twice, and won the $10 door prize.



    WEEK TWO



    Aug 7: 142.9 ๐Ÿ‘ฃ ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿฅ— ๐Ÿซ€ ๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿง‚Good day yesterday. Didn't get the expected amount of rain they were predicting, so got in my AM walk. We also took a drive to the shore, took a little stroll down the boardwalk at the mouth of the Connecticut River.

    Aug 8: 143.4 ๐Ÿ‘ฃ ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿ’ช๐ŸฆตOver my sodium goal yesterday and my calorie limit was 12 calories over - I know not by much but the sodium on top of it and the scale shows every bit of my being off plan. I haven't been sleeping well either which I think contributes to the scale. Today is my actual birthday (64), but not doing much today - will celebrate tomorrow and Saturday when Allyson will be here.

    Aug 9: 144.5 ๐Ÿ‘ฃ ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿซ€๐ŸฆตOut last night to celebrate my birthday. I logged everything and it wasn't pretty. But I did have a nice time.

    Aug 10: 143.5 ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿฅ— ๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธ ๐Ÿ’ฆ ๐Ÿก๐Ÿง‚ Back to where I started at the beginning of the month. Hopefully can make a dent downward before I leave on my trip on Thursday (three day girls outting). Rest day yesterday. Allyson stayed most of the day. She is writing a book and when she finishes a chapter she reads them to me. I got two this weekend. ๐Ÿฅฐ Then we went out on the boat for a bit, took a little plunge in the water. Had our dinner at lunchtime, then Allyson headed home. I got a new tv for my workout room - so after she left set that up.

    Aug 11: 143.5 Somehow this post got lost

    Aug 12: 143 ๐Ÿ‘ฃ ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿฅ— ๐Ÿซ€ ๐Ÿ’ฆ ๐Ÿก๐Ÿง‚Harvested the potted potatoes yesterday - got about 15 pounds in the six pots. Still have a few plants that we sowed in the ground - we are leaving those for now - they don't appear to be finished quite yet. Yup, next year potatoes and tomatoes - that's all that seems to grow well. We have another woodchuck that just consumed the peppers and squash plants - Greg saw him crawl over the gate! It hasn't been a great year for the garden.

    Aug 13: 142.6 ๐Ÿ‘ฃ ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿฅ— ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ’ฆ ๐Ÿก๐Ÿง‚Went for nice walk yesterday - we were going to our usual spot but the bridge over the river was closed so had to turn around. Stopped at Machimoodus state park. We haven't been here in a really long time.

    WEEK THREE


    Aug 14: 142.4 ๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ‘ฃ ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿฅ— ๐Ÿซ€๐Ÿฆต ๐Ÿ’ฆ ๐Ÿก Went to Allyson's yesterday AM, she was having issues with the new chromebook she bought - apparently the office 365 app not compatible - so since she bought it to work on her book during her lunchbreaks - it is being returned. I thought maybe I could figure out a way to get there on the web - but couldn't get it done. Then I got home and checked the garden, I was going to pull out the eaten squash and found a hiding squash in the one plant that wasn't demolished - HUGE - almost three pounds. They aren't as good when then get big. Oh well, tried a new skinnytaste receipe for Stuffed Zucchini. It was tasty. Tomorrow AM going on my trip with the girls - so won't be posting for the next few days. We are off to Turning Stone Casino for three days of fun and gambling. I met this milestone yesterday!

    Aug 15: ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿก Didn't think I would check in today because of my trip - but leaving later than I anticipated. Diisasterous day; I made cookies for the trip and of course had to taste them. Tasting led to a sugar binge - chip binge - a beer. Typical for me - I go off plan just a bit and it is like it is a freedom to do whatever I want. The good part of yesterday was that I tried my paddleboard. I didn't stand up on it - tried but the wobbling of it wasn't good for my knee and didn't want to re-injure it - so just did it kneeling; it was fun. My plan for the trip is to get up earlier than the others and head to the fitness room for a treadmill walk. If I still have time I might do some MFP (bringing my laptop) before my roomies rise. Hope I don't wake them. That's the plan anyway - we'll see if I can get my butt out of bed after a night out.

    Aug 18: 147.3 ๐Ÿ‘ฃ ๐Ÿซ€I'm back and it isn't pretty; and I only have three days before my next trip. I am back at it full swing for the next few days - then going away for a couple days to celebrate our anniversary and then I'll have nine days to try to get back to my August starting weight. Yikes, it's going to be a tough one. I did have a wonderful time - spent a lot of $, obviously I ate a lot of junk, too much salt, too much sugar, no fruits and veggies to talk about, but it was nice to get away with the girls. We do this once a year and every year one of us has one big. I had my year last time so wasn't expecting it. My younger sister did well this time around!

    Aug 19: 145.2 ๐Ÿ‘ฃ ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿฅ— ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿฆต๐Ÿซ€ ๐Ÿ’ฆ ๐Ÿก๐Ÿง‚ Got it all done!

    Aug 20: 143.5 ๐Ÿ‘ฃ ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿฅ— ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿซ€ ๐Ÿ’ฆ ๐Ÿก๐Ÿง‚ Another great day, another swish from the girls trip bloat. Down to my August starting weight. I skipped bingo night out with Mom and the gang so no goodies! We leave for our Anniversary trip tomorrow (37 years). I expect a rise again, but not as bad as the girls trip. We are going to Mystic, Connecticut for 2 nights (you might remember the village from the movie Mystic Pizza movie from the 80's). It's just a 50 minute drive away, but still a get away for us. Then when I get back - no more obstacles for a bit! Phew! I hope to at least lose this month, even if it's just a couple tenths of a pound.

    Aug 21: 143.2 ๐Ÿ‘ฃ ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿฅ— ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿซ€ ๐Ÿ’ฆ ๐Ÿก๐Ÿง‚Figured I'd get a snapshot of my beginning weight before the trip (and I couldn't sleep so I am up). We are going to get a short walk in before we leave so Monty gets some exercise. I'll be back Friday afternoon! Looking forward to it.

    Hi,
    I'm Cindy. I'm 50, 5'4" and 159.6 as of Aug 1st. Lost 4.6 lbs in July. I didn't quite reach my goal weight for July, but I was close. I have fought with the same 10lbs for the last year.
    So my doctor wants to put me on Wegovy or Zepbound. Between the cost and doing a little research, I don't think its a great solution for me. Looks like it might be a rest of life commitment. No thank you!

    Started at the gym 7/3. Been going 5 days a week. Missed a few days due to life.

    I see my doctor again at the end of August, so I want to loose at least 10 lbs by then to prove I can do it without meds. My ultimate goal is 135 lbs.

    Starting weight: 164.2 (July 1, 2024)
    August starting weight: 159.6
    August goal weight: 155

    Aug 1st - 159.6 :) - Used the rowing machine at the gym for the first time. My friend and I liked it. Why aren't more people using it. No one is ever on it.
    Aug 2nd - 160 :neutral: - Probably the few bites of cookies I had after dinner last night. My daughter wanted Crumble Cookie. How could I say no after the crazy week we have had?

    Aug 4th - 160.4 :( - not paying attention to what I ate yesterday and ate dinner late. Need to work harder this week on what I am putting in my mouth. Last week was a little crazy and I was trying to feed a bunch of young adults. Needed quick, cheap, and easy.

    Aug 6th - 157.4 :) - Not sure how that happened, but I will take it. Only did cardio at the gym yesterday afternoon. I was in a hurry. Had lots to do yesterday evening.

    Aug 13th - 158.6 :( - Ugh! Why? Not looking good to meet my goal. I have my doctor appointment on the 27th. I'm afraid she will try to push the drugs again.

    Aug 15th - 158.4 :neutral: - The scale needs to move down! Weights and cardio for about an hour afterwork yesterday. Only ate a salad with tomatoes and cucumber last night for dinner. I won't say what I ate for lunch. :) I think the lesson learned is eat a lighter dinner and a heavier lunch.
    Aug 16th - 157.8 :) - Makes a difference when I stay away from bread. Now for the weekend. Have party to attend for my husband's grandfather tomorrow. He will be 101 and still going strong. Drives and lives by himself. It will be pool side so I probably won't want to eat much because its Texas and it will be hot tomorrow.
    Aug 17th - 157.4 :) - Yay! I made it to the gym 5 times this week. I always take Saturday and Sunday off, so just have to watch what I eat over the weekend. I have a week and a half until my doctor appointment.
    Aug 18th - 156.6 :) - Can't believe it. Getting super close to my goal. I might just make it by the day of my doctor appointment.
    Aug 19th - 157.6 :( - And my body says just kidding. Ugh!
    Aug 20th - 158 :( - No gym yesterday. Had to take my daughter to the dentist after work. Ate Frito Pie for dinner. Too much salt. Surprised my gain wasn't more. Will be at the gym after work today, so hopefully will be back down tomorrow.

    Aug 22nd - 156.6 :) - during the first part of the week my weight trends up and then it goes back down. I don't get it.

We leave for Disney next Sunday. It is making me nervous. We are driving, so I will probably take make scale to try and keep myself motivated to eat as healthy as possible. I worked too hard the last two months to gain it all back in a week.

    Welp. My body is definitely telling me off. I have a UTI. ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿคฆ Perfect timing, what with still needing to do some double shifts at work this week, and two other MFP challenges starting.

    I did start taking cranberry capsules this morning, and I'll call my doctor's office tomorrow to get an antibiotic, and I'll go back to taking my estrogen cream - this serves me right, since I'd been slacking off and not taking it, it's just messy and slightly inconvenient.

    But the timing isn't great for this, bleh. No matter. I'll quit my whining now and just push through, because I'm not dead yet, only mostly dead, which means slightly alive. Thank you Miracle Max.

Today is DGDโ€™s birthday party. Iโ€™ll travel about 60 miles each way. I probably wonโ€™t bother to weigh tomorrow as I already know how the party food and my inability to take my Lasix will affect me. Pointless. Iโ€™ll be back on board Monday for sure.

    My July Reflection for anyone who cares to read:
    July Reflection

    July was a tough month for me. I do not really understand why I lost motivation this month, but probably a combination of not being able to do my normal exercise routine coupled with getting close to my goal and self-sabotage.

    I lost 1.5 pounds this month. My goal was to at least lose 2% of my body weight which would have been about 3 pounds. I got close for a couple of days โ€“ but then went over the top and gained some back. The good thing is that I got back at it right away and did not allow the one-day binges to continue into a weekend, or weeklong binge. Down 84.5 pounds since I started this journey.

    Exercise was different for me this month as well. The doctor asked that complete non weight bearing exercises, so no real walking. My strength, cardio, stretch, and steps were all done in the chair most of the month. I did get the green light to start up again at the end of the month and am slowly transitioning from chair to standing.

    Now for the good news โ€“ I reached the 1,500-mile marker on my quest to walk 2,024 miles in 2024, logging about 150 miles in July (mostly seated). I found a place on my Garmin app which gives me the total intentional exercise time โ€“ so much easier for me to track my second goal which was 2,024 miles of intentional exercise (I count 20 minutes as a mile). I was previously doing it on an excel spreadsheet โ€“ which probably wasnโ€™t too accurate. With this new calculation I am at 1,181 miles to date โ€“ just where I should be to complete it for the year. I can do it.

    There are a lot of obstacles in my way for the month of August. Family picnic this weekend, followed by my birthday, then a three-day girlโ€™s trip to Turning Stone Casino, and then finally a three-day trip for my wedding anniversary. With that in mind am going to keep the same goal as July โ€“ a 2% loss. Yes, I would love to see that ideal number (3.5 pounds), but that dangling carrot hasnโ€™t helped me with my goals, so am going to shoot for that in September when it is much more reachable. It is also break time for both the Hogwarts and BLC challenges โ€“ so need to motivate myself โ€“ not as easy to do.

    I have thought a lot about what my final goal should be. My initial goal was five pounds under the ideal range or 135 pounds. But when I look at myself, I still do not see fit. So am adjusting it to 100-pound loss or January 8, 2025 (my two-year starting date) whichever comes first.

    PRIOR WEEKS
    Aug 1: 142.8 ๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ‘ฃ ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿฅ— ๐Ÿ’ช ๐Ÿ’ฆ ๐Ÿง‚ I'll never get it - didn't really do anything different - but a nice swish. Nothing exciting happening - end of the month is reflection and budget day so spent a good amount of time at the computer. I added a new goal this month - declutter - thinking one declutter thing a week. We'll see how that goes on my goal to become more minimalistic. My Aunt cancelled the family picnic that was planned for this weekend. My other Aunt is up from Florida and we were all going to get together - but it is supposed to rain all day so she cancelled. I'm sorry to see it because I haven't seen a couple of my cousins in a long time - but one less temptation this month is probably a good thing as August is filled with one to many for me.

    Aug 2: 142.7 ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘ฃ ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿฅ— ๐Ÿฆต๐Ÿซ€ ๐Ÿ’ฆ ๐Ÿง‚Nice day yesterday, went out on the boat, a little dip in the water. I love our little lake (which only town resisdents can use). I counted the boats that were on the water - 2 boats, 1 jet ski, and a paddle board (plus us). My knee was feeling great yesterday, and I got in 17K steps. This was my daily goal pre knee injury so was so happy to see it. I'm feeling a little sore this morning though, so will curb it a little today.

    Aug 3: 142.4 ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘ฃ ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿฅ— ๐Ÿ’ช ๐Ÿ’ฆ ๐Ÿง‚Hot and Humid in Connecticut yesterday. Got our walk in, but was super sticky. We harvested our first pot of potatoes (we picked the little one to see how they were doing) and got seven good potatoes from the pot. Super happy with that. After a terrible garden year, it was nice to see some profits from our work. We talked about next year's garden and all we can seem to grown this year is tomatoes and potatoes (and ok arugula). Even the fruit trees - no apples, no pears - we do have peaches but the squirrels are taking them one by one before they are ripe. No big plans for today - it's also going to be a hot and humid one.

    Aug 4: 142.5 ๐Ÿ‘ฃ ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿฅ—๐Ÿฆต๐Ÿซ€ ๐Ÿ’ฆ ๐Ÿง‚One of my spare bedrooms has my treadmill in it and a weight machine. We had a twin sized bed in there as well (it was Allyson's room way back when). Finally decided to get rid of the bed. Also cleaned out the bureau - now the bureau is empty (going to move some things from my bedroom to make it so my closet isn't stuffed) and we moved the ab chair into the room. Threw away a big bag of stuff, another big bag going to good will and a couple bags of stuff for Allyson to go through. If she doesn't want it another two bags to goodwill. Now it is truely a workout room. ๐Ÿ˜Š

    Aug 5: 142.9 ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿฅ— ๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿง‚Rest and stretch day for me. I also didn't get all my water in - hoping the uptick is just that. Tonight is bingo with the Mom and the gang. Celebrating my birthday (and one of the other in Mom's circle of friends). So will have a light eating day today to make up for the cupcakes tonight. Prelogged my day and if I stick to it should still end up with a deficit. Cleaned out the closet in the workout room - another two bags to goodwill.

    Aug 6: 143.2 ๐Ÿ‘ฃ ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿฆต ๐Ÿ’ฆ ๐Ÿง‚Totally expected, the cupcake sugar high made me ravenous and when I got home I binged - added another 650 calories of junk to the mix. Back at it today. Good thing is that I won for a change - went bingo twice, and won the $10 door prize.



    WEEK TWO



    Aug 7: 142.9 ๐Ÿ‘ฃ ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿฅ— ๐Ÿซ€ ๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿง‚Good day yesterday. Didn't get the expected amount of rain they were predicting, so got in my AM walk. We also took a drive to the shore, took a little stroll down the boardwalk at the mouth of the Connecticut River.

    Aug 8: 143.4 ๐Ÿ‘ฃ ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿ’ช๐ŸฆตOver my sodium goal yesterday and my calorie limit was 12 calories over - I know not by much but the sodium on top of it and the scale shows every bit of my being off plan. I haven't been sleeping well either which I think contributes to the scale. Today is my actual birthday (64), but not doing much today - will celebrate tomorrow and Saturday when Allyson will be here.

    Aug 9: 144.5 ๐Ÿ‘ฃ ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿซ€๐ŸฆตOut last night to celebrate my birthday. I logged everything and it wasn't pretty. But I did have a nice time.

    Aug 10: 143.5 ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿฅ— ๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธ ๐Ÿ’ฆ ๐Ÿก๐Ÿง‚ Back to where I started at the beginning of the month. Hopefully can make a dent downward before I leave on my trip on Thursday (three day girls outting). Rest day yesterday. Allyson stayed most of the day. She is writing a book and when she finishes a chapter she reads them to me. I got two this weekend. ๐Ÿฅฐ Then we went out on the boat for a bit, took a little plunge in the water. Had our dinner at lunchtime, then Allyson headed home. I got a new tv for my workout room - so after she left set that up.

    Aug 11: 143.5 Somehow this post got lost

    Aug 12: 143 ๐Ÿ‘ฃ ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿฅ— ๐Ÿซ€ ๐Ÿ’ฆ ๐Ÿก๐Ÿง‚Harvested the potted potatoes yesterday - got about 15 pounds in the six pots. Still have a few plants that we sowed in the ground - we are leaving those for now - they don't appear to be finished quite yet. Yup, next year potatoes and tomatoes - that's all that seems to grow well. We have another woodchuck that just consumed the peppers and squash plants - Greg saw him crawl over the gate! It hasn't been a great year for the garden.

    Aug 13: 142.6 ๐Ÿ‘ฃ ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿฅ— ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ’ฆ ๐Ÿก๐Ÿง‚Went for nice walk yesterday - we were going to our usual spot but the bridge over the river was closed so had to turn around. Stopped at Machimoodus state park. We haven't been here in a really long time.

    WEEK THREE


    Aug 14: 142.4 ๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ‘ฃ ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿฅ— ๐Ÿซ€๐Ÿฆต ๐Ÿ’ฆ ๐Ÿก Went to Allyson's yesterday AM, she was having issues with the new chromebook she bought - apparently the office 365 app not compatible - so since she bought it to work on her book during her lunchbreaks - it is being returned. I thought maybe I could figure out a way to get there on the web - but couldn't get it done. Then I got home and checked the garden, I was going to pull out the eaten squash and found a hiding squash in the one plant that wasn't demolished - HUGE - almost three pounds. They aren't as good when then get big. Oh well, tried a new skinnytaste receipe for Stuffed Zucchini. It was tasty. Tomorrow AM going on my trip with the girls - so won't be posting for the next few days. We are off to Turning Stone Casino for three days of fun and gambling. I met this milestone yesterday!

    Aug 15: ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿก Didn't think I would check in today because of my trip - but leaving later than I anticipated. Diisasterous day; I made cookies for the trip and of course had to taste them. Tasting led to a sugar binge - chip binge - a beer. Typical for me - I go off plan just a bit and it is like it is a freedom to do whatever I want. The good part of yesterday was that I tried my paddleboard. I didn't stand up on it - tried but the wobbling of it wasn't good for my knee and didn't want to re-injure it - so just did it kneeling; it was fun. My plan for the trip is to get up earlier than the others and head to the fitness room for a treadmill walk. If I still have time I might do some MFP (bringing my laptop) before my roomies rise. Hope I don't wake them. That's the plan anyway - we'll see if I can get my butt out of bed after a night out.

I am back at it full swing for the next few days - then going away for a couple days to celebrate our anniversary and then I'll have nine days to try to get back to my August starting weight. Yikes, it's going to be a tough one. I did have a wonderful time - spent a lot of $, obviously I ate a lot of junk, too much salt, too much sugar, no fruits and veggies to talk about, but it was nice to get away with the girls. We do this once a year and every year one of us has one big. I had my year last time so wasn't expecting it. My younger sister did well this time around!

    Aug 19: 145.2 ๐Ÿ‘ฃ ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿฅ— ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿฆต๐Ÿซ€ ๐Ÿ’ฆ ๐Ÿก๐Ÿง‚ Got it all done!

    Aug 20: 143.5 ๐Ÿ‘ฃ ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿฅ— ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿซ€ ๐Ÿ’ฆ ๐Ÿก๐Ÿง‚ Another great day, another swish from the girls trip bloat. Down to my August starting weight. I skipped bingo night out with Mom and the gang so no goodies! We leave for our Anniversary trip tomorrow (37 years). I expect a rise again, but not as bad as the girls trip. We are going to Mystic, Connecticut for 2 nights (you might remember the village from the movie Mystic Pizza movie from the 80's). It's just a 50 minute drive away, but still a get away for us. Then when I get back - no more obstacles for a bit! Phew! I hope to at least lose this month, even if it's just a couple tenths of a pound.

    Aug 21: 143.2 ๐Ÿ‘ฃ ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿฅ— ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿซ€ ๐Ÿ’ฆ ๐Ÿก๐Ÿง‚Figured I'd get a snapshot of my beginning weight before the trip (and I couldn't sleep so I am up). We are going to get a short walk in before we leave so Monty gets some exercise. I'll be back Friday afternoon! Looking forward to it.

    Aug 23: 147.2 ๐Ÿ‘ฃ ๐Ÿ“ Another nice day with way too much foodie stuff. But had a good time. Glad to be heading home to get back to my routine. I have one week to lose the bloat to get below my August starting weight to at least say I lost something this month.

    Aug 24: 142.4 ๐Ÿ‘ฃ ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿฅ— ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿฆต๐Ÿ’ฆ ๐Ÿง‚I'm back down to my August lowwest weight and extremely happy. I have been working really hard this month on my "non vacation" days. I know that I won't make my 2% goal, but am still so happy I won't have a gain this month. I am determined more than ever to get to that ideal BMI weight in September. I can do it!

    @deepwoodslady Excellent news about the feet; so glad to hear. And attitude is one of the most important parts of this journey. Take the "t" out of can't and make it CAN! The party looks like it was a big success. Look at that cutie - Happy Birthday to her!

    @cattherien Prayers for your friend. And for you! How are you feeling? I hope better today.

    @cinw1501 I took my scale with me when we went to Hawaii, and yes it did help. I gained, but just a little and it was gone withing the next week that I got back. It definitely motivated me to not go overboard. Are you in a hotel room, or do you have access to a kitchen? My tip, just eat 1/2 of your meal - or get an appetizer instead of a meal. You will still be able to enjoy being out - and 1/2 is usually more than you need anyway. I had one glass of wine a day. If the hotel/resort that you are staying has access to a gym - use it (even though you'll be walking a lot anyway). My motto was - noone ever came home from a vacation saying I wish I ate or drank more. Just my two cents. You can do it.

    @sweetbea2012 Welcome aboard. No worries about jumping in the last week - there is never a bad time to start - only a good time! You started at the same exact weight I did when I started this journey (although I am a lot shorter than you). The persistance and not perfection attitude will get you where you want to go.

    I didn't get my late snacking logged, overshot my limit on both salt and calories, and too many healthy carbs, because I didn't have energy to cook. I did get extra fluids though, and rested much of the day. When I had energy, I did laundry and washed dishes; when the low grade fever got to me, I'd stop and go lay down.

    I work today but just the AM shift; and I'm off work tomorrow. So I'm hoping by the time I have my doubles on Wednesday, I'll be doing much better. I've occasionally had uti's before - and the estrogen cream is a preventative that I'd been slacking on - so I'm getting my dose of consequences and accepting it as a teachable moment.

    08/26-190.0-(Trend Weight 190.8)- Wellโ€ฆ..trying to look on the bright side hereโ€ฆโ€ฆno Major damage from the birthday party over the weekend as my weight is the same as before it. Another bright sideโ€ฆโ€ฆI am glad that I posted on my weekly challenges first as it shows I am down 2.2 lbs from last Monday and my trend weight is down 0.3 . I ate good meals again yesterday as I find that I usually enjoy my go-to low carb and low calorie meals. The snacks thoughโ€ฆHumph! Well, one thing I know for sure is that I donโ€™t want to go into the end-of-year holiday seasons with the sweet tooth that I have right now. Iโ€™ve got to overcome!

    Hi everyone. So Iโ€™ve actually gained 2kg since July. It shouldnโ€™t be surprising really considering I rarely stick to my goal. But Iโ€™m so depressed about my weight then I eat for comfort itโ€™s a vicious cycle ๐Ÿ”„

    Trying to eat healthy on a budget is another issue. Pasta is cheap and easy so we eat it frequently.

    Hello I'm Darlene. Retired, 64-year-old. Married (Greg), one adult daughter (Allyson), and one goldendoodle (Monty), back for another month with this supportive group.     My July Reflection for anyone who cares to read:
    July Reflection

    July was a tough month for me. I do not really understand why I lost motivation this month, but probably a combination of not being able to do my normal exercise routine coupled with getting close to my goal and self-sabotage.

    I lost 1.5 pounds this month. My goal was to at least lose 2% of my body weight which would have been about 3 pounds. I got close for a couple of days โ€“ but then went over the top and gained some back. The good thing is that I got back at it right away and did not allow the one-day binges to continue into a weekend, or weeklong binge. Down 84.5 pounds since I started this journey.

    Exercise was different for me this month as well. The doctor asked that complete non weight bearing exercises, so no real walking. My strength, cardio, stretch, and steps were all done in the chair most of the month. I did get the green light to start up again at the end of the month and am slowly transitioning from chair to standing.

    Now for the good news โ€“ I reached the 1,500-mile marker on my quest to walk 2,024 miles in 2024, logging about 150 miles in July (mostly seated). I found a place on my Garmin app which gives me the total intentional exercise time โ€“ so much easier for me to track my second goal which was 2,024 miles of intentional exercise (I count 20 minutes as a mile). I was previously doing it on an excel spreadsheet โ€“ which probably wasnโ€™t too accurate. With this new calculation I am at 1,181 miles to date โ€“ just where I should be to complete it for the year. I can do it.

    There are a lot of obstacles in my way for the month of August. Family picnic this weekend, followed by my birthday, then a three-day girlโ€™s trip to Turning Stone Casino, and then finally a three-day trip for my wedding anniversary. With that in mind am going to keep the same goal as July โ€“ a 2% loss. Yes, I would love to see that ideal number (3.5 pounds), but that dangling carrot hasnโ€™t helped me with my goals, so am going to shoot for that in September when it is much more reachable. It is also break time for both the Hogwarts and BLC challenges โ€“ so need to motivate myself โ€“ not as easy to do.

    I have thought a lot about what my final goal should be. My initial goal was five pounds under the ideal range or 135 pounds. But when I look at myself, I still do not see fit. So am adjusting it to 100-pound loss or January 8, 2025 (my two-year starting date) whichever comes first.

    PRIOR WEEKS
    Aug 1: 142.8 ๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ‘ฃ ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿฅ— ๐Ÿ’ช ๐Ÿ’ฆ ๐Ÿง‚ I'll never get it - didn't really do anything different - but a nice swish. Nothing exciting happening - end of the month is reflection and budget day so spent a good amount of time at the computer. I added a new goal this month - declutter - thinking one declutter thing a week. We'll see how that goes on my goal to become more minimalistic. My Aunt cancelled the family picnic that was planned for this weekend. My other Aunt is up from Florida and we were all going to get together - but it is supposed to rain all day so she cancelled. I'm sorry to see it because I haven't seen a couple of my cousins in a long time - but one less temptation this month is probably a good thing as August is filled with one to many for me.

    Aug 2: 142.7 ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘ฃ ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿฅ— ๐Ÿฆต๐Ÿซ€ ๐Ÿ’ฆ ๐Ÿง‚Nice day yesterday, went out on the boat, a little dip in the water. I love our little lake (which only town resisdents can use). I counted the boats that were on the water - 2 boats, 1 jet ski, and a paddle board (plus us). My knee was feeling great yesterday, and I got in 17K steps. This was my daily goal pre knee injury so was so happy to see it. I'm feeling a little sore this morning though, so will curb it a little today.

    Aug 3: 142.4 ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘ฃ ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿฅ— ๐Ÿ’ช ๐Ÿ’ฆ ๐Ÿง‚Hot and Humid in Connecticut yesterday. Got our walk in, but was super sticky. We harvested our first pot of potatoes (we picked the little one to see how they were doing) and got seven good potatoes from the pot. Super happy with that. After a terrible garden year, it was nice to see some profits from our work. We talked about next year's garden and all we can seem to grown this year is tomatoes and potatoes (and ok arugula). Even the fruit trees - no apples, no pears - we do have peaches but the squirrels are taking them one by one before they are ripe. No big plans for today - it's also going to be a hot and humid one.

    Aug 4: 142.5 ๐Ÿ‘ฃ ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿฅ—๐Ÿฆต๐Ÿซ€ ๐Ÿ’ฆ ๐Ÿง‚One of my spare bedrooms has my treadmill in it and a weight machine. We had a twin sized bed in there as well (it was Allyson's room way back when). Finally decided to get rid of the bed. Also cleaned out the bureau - now the bureau is empty (going to move some things from my bedroom to make it so my closet isn't stuffed) and we moved the ab chair into the room. Threw away a big bag of stuff, another big bag going to good will and a couple bags of stuff for Allyson to go through. If she doesn't want it another two bags to goodwill. Now it is truely a workout room. ๐Ÿ˜Š

    Aug 5: 142.9 ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿฅ— ๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿง‚Rest and stretch day for me. I also didn't get all my water in - hoping the uptick is just that. Tonight is bingo with the Mom and the gang. Celebrating my birthday (and one of the other in Mom's circle of friends). So will have a light eating day today to make up for the cupcakes tonight. Prelogged my day and if I stick to it should still end up with a deficit. Cleaned out the closet in the workout room - another two bags to goodwill.

    Aug 6: 143.2 ๐Ÿ‘ฃ ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿฆต ๐Ÿ’ฆ ๐Ÿง‚Totally expected, the cupcake sugar high made me ravenous and when I got home I binged - added another 650 calories of junk to the mix. Back at it today. Good thing is that I won for a change - went bingo twice, and won the $10 door prize.



    WEEK TWO



    Aug 7: 142.9 ๐Ÿ‘ฃ ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿฅ— ๐Ÿซ€ ๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿง‚Good day yesterday. Didn't get the expected amount of rain they were predicting, so got in my AM walk. We also took a drive to the shore, took a little stroll down the boardwalk at the mouth of the Connecticut River.

    Aug 8: 143.4 ๐Ÿ‘ฃ ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿ’ช๐ŸฆตOver my sodium goal yesterday and my calorie limit was 12 calories over - I know not by much but the sodium on top of it and the scale shows every bit of my being off plan. I haven't been sleeping well either which I think contributes to the scale. Today is my actual birthday (64), but not doing much today - will celebrate tomorrow and Saturday when Allyson will be here.

    Aug 9: 144.5 ๐Ÿ‘ฃ ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿซ€๐ŸฆตOut last night to celebrate my birthday. I logged everything and it wasn't pretty. But I did have a nice time.

    Aug 10: 143.5 ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿฅ— ๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธ ๐Ÿ’ฆ ๐Ÿก๐Ÿง‚ Back to where I started at the beginning of the month. Hopefully can make a dent downward before I leave on my trip on Thursday (three day girls outting). Rest day yesterday. Allyson stayed most of the day. She is writing a book and when she finishes a chapter she reads them to me. I got two this weekend. ๐Ÿฅฐ Then we went out on the boat for a bit, took a little plunge in the water. Had our dinner at lunchtime, then Allyson headed home. I got a new tv for my workout room - so after she left set that up.

    Aug 12: 143 ๐Ÿ‘ฃ ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿฅ— ๐Ÿซ€ ๐Ÿ’ฆ ๐Ÿก๐Ÿง‚Harvested the potted potatoes yesterday - got about 15 pounds in the six pots. Still have a few plants that we sowed in the ground - we are leaving those for now - they don't appear to be finished quite yet. Yup, next year potatoes and tomatoes - that's all that seems to grow well. We have another woodchuck that just consumed the peppers and squash plants - Greg saw him crawl over the gate! It hasn't been a great year for the garden.

    Aug 13: 142.6 ๐Ÿ‘ฃ ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿฅ— ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ’ฆ ๐Ÿก๐Ÿง‚Went for nice walk yesterday - we were going to our usual spot but the bridge over the river was closed so had to turn around. Stopped at Machimoodus state park. We haven't been here in a really long time.

    Aug 14: 142.4 ๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ‘ฃ ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿฅ— ๐Ÿซ€๐Ÿฆต ๐Ÿ’ฆ ๐Ÿก Went to Allyson's yesterday AM, she was having issues with the new chromebook she bought - apparently the office 365 app not compatible - so since she bought it to work on her book during her lunchbreaks - it is being returned. I thought maybe I could figure out a way to get there on the web - but couldn't get it done. Then I got home and checked the garden, I was going to pull out the eaten squash and found a hiding squash in the one plant that wasn't demolished - HUGE - almost three pounds. They aren't as good when then get big. Oh well, tried a new skinnytaste receipe for Stuffed Zucchini. It was tasty. Tomorrow AM going on my trip with the girls - so won't be posting for the next few days. We are off to Turning Stone Casino for three days of fun and gambling. I met this milestone yesterday!

    Aug 15: ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿก Didn't think I would check in today because of my trip - but leaving later than I anticipated. Diisasterous day; I made cookies for the trip and of course had to taste them. Tasting led to a sugar binge - chip binge - a beer. Typical for me - I go off plan just a bit and it is like it is a freedom to do whatever I want. The good part of yesterday was that I tried my paddleboard. I didn't stand up on it - tried but the wobbling of it wasn't good for my knee and didn't want to re-injure it - so just did it kneeling; it was fun. My plan for the trip is to get up earlier than the others and head to the fitness room for a treadmill walk. If I still have time I might do some MFP (bringing my laptop) before my roomies rise. Hope I don't wake them. That's the plan anyway - we'll see if I can get my butt out of bed after a night out.

I am back at it full swing for the next few days - then going away for a couple days to celebrate our anniversary and then I'll have nine days to try to get back to my August starting weight. Yikes, it's going to be a tough one. I did have a wonderful time - spent a lot of $, obviously I ate a lot of junk, too much salt, too much sugar, no fruits and veggies to talk about, but it was nice to get away with the girls. We do this once a year and every year one of us has one big. I had my year last time so wasn't expecting it. My younger sister did well this time around!

I skipped bingo night out with Mom and the gang so no goodies! We leave for our Anniversary trip tomorrow (37 years). I expect a rise again, but not as bad as the girls trip. We are going to Mystic, Connecticut for 2 nights (you might remember the village from the movie Mystic Pizza movie from the 80's). It's just a 50 minute drive away, but still a get away for us. Then when I get back - no more obstacles for a bit! Phew! I hope to at least lose this month, even if it's just a couple tenths of a pound.

I know that I won't make my 2% goal, but am still so happy I won't have a gain this month. I am determined more than ever to get to that ideal BMI weight in September. I can do it!

Then I had a Vascular appointment, they found one vein that has Venous reflux (blood flowing in the wrong direction). Also some of my vericose veins are on the larger size. It's usually enought to get insurance to approve treatment - hoping that is the case and I can get the sclerotherapy done on the ugly vericose veins. The venous reflux treatment is a little more invasive, and since it really isn't bothering me we decided to hold off on that one for now. If insurance won't cover the vericose without doing the venous reflux I'll do both.

    I felt noticeably better yesterday morning, no more low grade fever or burning, so I decided to take the cranberry the rest of the week instead of getting an antibiotic, to see if I can kick this UTI without totally messing up my microbiome. I've been able to do that before when I'd caught the infection early enough; but if the fever comes back or other symptoms return, I'll definitely hit my doctor up!

    Yesterday after work, I made a new recipe for gluten free granola bars, because I had bought some at the grocery store, but they were expensive and flavorless, and I knew I could do better. These came out really good... They are even Allen approved! They remind me of a Cliff bar, and the recipe is pretty forgiving. They are not low carb; but more like an energy bar for playing disc golf or walking the treadmill. I love doing those virtual walking tours on YouTube; and my Ravenclaw house is doing a virtual walking tour of Scotland this term, so I'm gonna get my steps in!

    @deepwoodslady I'm glad you looked at your weekly group, too! Progress by the inch is still progress, my friend! ๐Ÿ› I'm very glad you like your go-to low carb meals, that always helps. But the sweet tooth monster, yeah. So I dunno if you're interested, but when I was doing low carb I did have some recipes that helped (lots of them from Big Man's World, have you ever seen his website? His Snickers dupe was super helpful to me). I also had sugar-free popsicles in the fridge as a staple. I found that my sugar cravings would get out of hand and I would either have to give in to a portion and risk a binge, or have the low carb snacks on hand. But I did appreciate how lower carb eating does greatly improve the sensitivity of the sweet receptors on the tongue, and it didn't take much to satisfy it.

    @ozdeelite yeah the emotional eating cycle really can only be broken by psychology instead of willpower, at least that's what a therapist told me. There are some good books on the subject though, and you could get them for free at your local library, I bet!

    So I totally agree about pasta being cheap. But I found that if I make the pasta saucier than I normally did, that helped. What I mean is the ratio of sauce to pasta, so that whatever I made was....I guess you could say soupier? More sauce than pasta. And doing that still scratched the pasta itch but was fewer carbs by about a third. Oh- as long as the sauce itself didn't have any added sugar (either by the maker or by me).

    @ilive2walk I'm surprised you don't feel any symptoms from the reflux! That's good though, right? Praying insurance covers both for you. Do you wear a health watch to track your heart activities (hr/sp02/rhr, etc)?

    I'm Cindy. I'm 50, 5'4" and 159.6 as of Aug 1st. Lost 4.6 lbs in July. I didn't quite reach my goal weight for July, but I was close. I have fought with the same 10lbs for the last year.
    So my doctor wants to put me on Wegovy or Zepbound. Between the cost and doing a little research, I don't think its a great solution for me. Looks like it might be a rest of life commitment. No thank you!

    Started at the gym 7/3. Been going 5 days a week. Missed a few days due to life.

    I see my doctor again at the end of August, so I want to loose at least 10 lbs by then to prove I can do it without meds. My ultimate goal is 135 lbs.

    Aug 1st - 159.6 :) - Used the rowing machine at the gym for the first time. My friend and I liked it. Why aren't more people using it. No one is ever on it.
    Aug 2nd - 160 :neutral: - Probably the few bites of cookies I had after dinner last night. My daughter wanted Crumble Cookie. How could I say no after the crazy week we have had?

    Aug 16th - 157.8 :) - Makes a difference when I stay away from bread. Now for the weekend. Have party to attend for my husband's grandfather tomorrow. He will be 101 and still going strong. Drives and lives by himself. It will be pool side so I probably won't want to eat much because its Texas and it will be hot tomorrow.
    Aug 17th - 157.4 :) - Yay! I made it to the gym 5 times this week. I always take Saturday and Sunday off, so just have to watch what I eat over the weekend. I have a week and a half until my doctor appointment.
    Aug 18th - 156.6 :) - Can't believe it. Getting super close to my goal. I might just make it by the day of my doctor appointment.

Can't wait to hear what she has to say about me canceling my weight loss appointment with her. This one is for my hormone patch. I hope she understands my reasoning. 7.8 lbs lost since I started on July 1st. I think that is pretty good in 8 weeks at the age of 50.
