@trooworld Can you post the sweet potato chick pea bowl recipe? Did you go to water aerobics?
Maybe you could double up on some of your recipes and freeze half for the days when you are tired and don't want to cook and clean. You can just pop it into the microwave like a frozen dinner. I went out for coffee today too. What book are you going to discuss? I just read a really good book. It was one of the Amazon First Reads this month. Remember Me Tomorrow.

@cbabie Next time slice the blueberry bread and then freeze it. Then you can occasionally bring out a piece and toast it. Ha. I just read @trooworld's next post and she had same idea as me. :D Did you do your meal planning? I did mine today for this next week. I'm using the MFP blueprint for f&v and I've got it all worked out for 4 weeks now. So now it doesn't take long. I just see which veggies I'm doing and then plug those into pinterest and whatever recipes come out I just use that.

@fabgeekmom Sorry about your granddaughter. That pizza sounds really good. I was looking for some turkey pepperoni the other day and couldn't find it. How much lemon zest do you use for that marinade?

I made a cabbage, broccoli, red pepper stir fry tonight with a bit of diced chicken on it. It was really good and quick since I used ready made John Soules chicken. It was one of those decisions do I cook what I planned and then I don't have time for the gym or do I find a quicker recipe that's healthy. I just used a bag of coleslaw for the cabbage and then cut up the rest. Then I went to the gym. I did a hill program on the treadmill and did 20 minutes in Zone 2 and 10 other minutes in Zone 1. Then some stretching. Then came home and ate. So I feel good about my choices today. I actually lost some weight too this week. 2.8 lbs

@fabgeekmom Yes! That's good you did your exercise. I hope dinner was good.

@theslightedgeforever Sure, here it is (I was going to serve it over farro but you can do brown rice or quinoa): https://www.gimmesomeoven.com/roasted-sweet-potato-and-chickpea-bowls/ I did not go to water aerobics. It seems my husband likes to monopolize my time on the weekends, I've noticed. That's a good idea to double up recipes although they already serve at least 4 servings. I made chili last night that serves 8, I'll probably freeze the leftovers. I love going out for coffee! We go out each day on the weekend for coffee and sit and read. The book discussion: it was interesting. It was held in a bookstore that I like a lot. There was only one person doing the discussion, it was more of a book talk. He gave a quick synopsis of some books that he's been reading and/or that have come out recently in either hardback or paperback. We sat and drank more coffee while he did this. Some of the books he discussed:
All That Glitters by Orlando Whitfield - this is a true story about art theft
The Best Short Stories 2024: The O. Henry Prize Winners
Tell Me Everything by Elizabeth Strout (he didn't describe this, only mentioned it came out)
The Life Impossible: A Novel by Matt Haig - he wrote the Midnight Library which got a lot of hype but I didn't really enjoy
Somewhere Beyond the Sea by TJ Klune - I have been waiting for this to come out and got it on Audible! It's part II of House in the Cerulean Sea.
Thanks for the Amazon First Reads, I never know what to pick and usually end up picking nothing! That was a good decision to make the stir fry. Good job with the gym and weight loss! Sorry this is so long lol.

Hi all. My new surgery center sent me a tracking app to use (Baritastic, it is specific to bariatric patients). I am tracking 100% honestly and I can see why I've been gaining weight. I started using it on Saturday: 2,787 cals was my total. Sun: 2,364 cals. Today should be better. Weekends have been bad lately as far as eating goes as sometimes we go out for a beer and there is usually some sort of dessert or pizza. I made chili in the Instant Pot last night for dinner, it came out really well. I used dried beans. I also made beer bread which was really good. I've made that before, it's a favorite. I'm looking into getting a rebounder, which is a small exercise trampoline. I am going to sell my walking pad as I don't use it and probably won't. I wish there was a way to "try before you buy". I think I will use the rebounder as it is supposed to be fun. Nobody ever called a treadmill "fun".

Morning all, I am going to call the Dr today as my knee is still bum, but it is much better. I even got up this morning first time and was not in pain..however as the morning as went, It is stiff and hurts again LOL. I didn't eat well, but I didn't go on a binge, so its a win for me :). I still have to make my meal plan, but still have a couple left from last week so I have time to do it today. I am going to be helping in my daughters class tomorrow, should be fun.

@trooworld Yes I don't really like my walking pad, I prefer a treadmill so I can walk the incline. Maybe in a bit I will be able to get one. I won't do the trampoline yet. LOL I know the kids have fun on the trampoline...I think bouncing is a stress releaser.

@fabgeekmom I hope your grand daughter feels better. I have had sick kids and thankfully they are on the mend! I am going to try to make a pizza this week. I have a pan I bought a long time ago and have never used..it's time.

@theslightedgeforever Yes I could have frozen it but then I still and the only one eating it. I am going to make it again this week as it was really good. I am going to give 2/3's of it away, or at least try. If not I will freeze it. I like being able to cook and have it for future as well.

@theslightedgeforever You’ve made good choices with food and exercise. That was a substantial weight loss! I use the zest of one lemon. You probably could juice the lemon and add it to the marinade. @trooworld I have already read the Elizabeth Strout book and I enjoyed it. I didn’t know about the sequel you mentioned and ordered it on Audible. I tried to put a hold on it and the wait time was too long. Plus I had 1 credit. The weekend can really be a challenge especially since you like to go out places. But now you see what you have to do. @cbabie Too bad about your knee. I think most of the time pain increases as the day goes on. So hopefully you called the doctor. Hi, all. I went swimming today. Lunch was leftovers from last night. Tonight we’re having meatloaf that I made last week and froze. Plus potatoes from last night and salad. DS is out of town so I am doing the cooking.

@cbabie I'm glad you are calling the doctor. I hope they can help. I hope your knee holds up okay to help in the class. Yeah, I am just not one to like either a walking pad or treadmill, I find it boring lol. I think I am someone who needs fun in everything lol. And I could use some stress relief!

@fabgeekmom Oh that's good to hear about the book. I hope you like the new TJ Klune book. I really liked the first one! That's good you had a credit on Audible. I hope it's the same narrator, I thought the first narrator did a good job. Yeah I have a love/hate relationship with weekends. I love all the fun but hate the way I eat! Good job with the swim. I love to have leftovers in the freezer.

Hi all. I was able to schedule my gallbladder ultrasound for the beginning of October, so I'm one step closer to being approved for surgery. It has been nice weather here the past 3 or so days: low to mid-70s with some misty rain. Much better than the hot weather we were having, although it is supposed to warm up again this weekend.

@trooworld That’s good that you are closer to your surgery. Yes, the narrator is the same. I started listening and it is really good. Hi, all. I went to the recreation center and worked out on the recumbent elliptical, listening to the T J Klune book. Then I went grocery shopping. I made 2 soups for the rest of the week: Skinnytaste creamy chicken and mushroom soup and another chicken soup with corn, butter beans, and tomatoes. Tonight we are having the spaghetti rings with beef. I’m making extra for leftovers.

@fabgeekmom Yes, I'm getting excited. That's good the narrator is the same. I'm glad to hear you like it. i have the audiobook from Audible but it will probably be a little while before I can listen to it as I have 17 holds with the library that will probably all come in at once lol. I will probably squeeze it in though, and do "deliver later" on some of those titles. Good job with the rec center! All that food sounds amazing. :D

Hi all. Nothing much going on here. My husband's phone is acting up so we have to take it to a repair shop after work. Luckily, he pretty much prepped everything we are having for dinner tonight last night. I'm already really tired, I woke up at 3:17 am and decided to just get up. It's going to be one of those days.

@trooworld Getting up that early really tires you out. For the last 2 days I have woken up at 5:00. Having a meal prepped really helps. Hi, all. DH had his surgery today. He’s doing well. Luckily we got a scooter and that is really helping. I didn’t get any exercise today as we got home about 1:30 and I didn’t feel like exercising. Plus I didn’t want to leave him alone. Our daughter took us to the surgery center and stayed with us a while. We ate the creamy chicken and mushroom soup and a toasted cheese sandwich for lunch. Tonight we’re eating the spaghetti rings I cooked last night.

@fabgeekmom Yes it does! And yes, meal prepping helps. I'm glad your DH had his surgery and it went well. That soup sounds good, is it from Skinnytaste? Do you have the recipe link?

Hi all. We didn't end up going to the phone repair place but we will go tonight. We do have leftover stuff in the fridge if it takes too long. I got better sleep last night. I'm considering getting a rebounder (mini-trampoline) but I wanted to try it before I buy it. I did a Google search and found a place that has rebounder fitness classes: https://sandiegoboogiebounce.com/ That link has a video of the class going on, it's neat to see. I need to call to make sure they still have the classes but I think it's a good option to try them.

@trooworld That’s a good idea to try the trampoline first. Also you’ll find out how the jumping affects your knees. It’s good that you have leftovers to eat when you’re too busy to cook. I don’t have a link to the soup. If you go the Skinnytaste site, look up creamy chicken and mushroom soup. Then you’ll see the recipe. Hi, all. DH is recovering well. I exercised inside today . Tonight I prepared dinner: air fried chicken, rice and roasted delicata squash.

@fabgeekmom Yes, that's a good point. Okay, thanks I found it. I'm glad your DH is recovering well. Good job with the exercise. I hope you enjoyed dinner!

Hi all. Not much going on here. I'm picking up our groceries tonight because we have a busy weekend. I hate picking my groceries up after work: the stores are really busy and it's hard to find parking in the pick-up area. It's very stressful for me and shoots my anxiety up very high. I have a physical therapy appt today. I've been doing the exercises with a few exceptions.

Morning all, My knee has been awful, I did go to the Dr, had to get it x-rayed and just waiting for the Dr to call me. If she doesn't call by 3 today, I am calling her. It's been 2 days and it should be back by now.
    Otherwise same old news here.

@trooworld glad you are going in the right direction with your surgery. As always you guys are always so busy. Sorry the grocery store gives you so much anxiety. I think that's why I buy online and have delivery..LOL. I hate being around so many people. Plus where I go I have to bag all my own groceries. I think I am getting lazy. :)

@fabgeekmom So glad DH is doing well. He has a great support team. I love soup and grilled cheese sandwiches..

@trooworld I hope all went well with the grocery pickup. Good job in doing the therapy exercises. @cbabie I’m sorry you are having so much trouble with your knee. I hope you heard from the doctor. Hi, all. DH told me it was okay to leave him alone so I could go swimming. So I did and it felt good. Now I know I can leave him to go walking tomorrow. DS went to Sam’s Club and got steak for tonight and some other stuff for next week. That was a big help as it is exhausting to go there by myself. My cousin brought us some challah rolls that were really good. They were sweet and almost like cake. So that was dessert.

@cbabie I hope your doctor has some answers for you. Thanks, me too. Yes, we do get busy! A little too busy for my taste. ;) I would do delivery but I go to 3 different stores: Walmart, the local grocery store, and the produce store...oh, also Sam's Club, so 4! No wonder I have anxiety over it. I should do the delivery for Walmart at least. If I bring my own bags to Walmart, I have to bag them myself. And always have to bag my own at Sam's Club, as you know.

@fabgeekmom Thanks, we were almost late which made my anxiety go really high. I'm glad you got to go swimming. That was nice of DS to go to Sam's Club for you. I hope you enjoyed dinner.

Hi all. We got our groceries last night but were almost late, which really got my anxiety up high...there was traffic getting there and it took about twice as long to get there. Pick-up went okay. What stresses me out (besides being almost late) is that at Sam's Club, there are only 8 spots, and half of them are taken up by people who are just too lazy to walk far to the store: they park in the designated pick-up spots (not having anything to pick up) and go in the store and shop. So, that leaves just a few spots for pick-up, which are always taken. Today, Comic Con tickets go on sale so I have to try to get them. It's not guaranteed. I have a sleep apnea video consultation this morning and then later today, we are going to a huge street fair with 5 stages of music. We go every year, it should be fun!

Morning all, I took baby girl and went to see a friend yesterday afternoon. It was nice. It's getting cooler here, but also muggy. GO figure. LOL. My knee is still yucky and the Dr didn't call and I tried to call, but forgot they don't answer on Fridays..so I wait. My thoughts...Physician heal thyself...

@fabgeekmom That was nice of DH and so glad he is well enough to stay by himself. It probably did you both good. I have never heard of challah rolls but they sound good! (bread and sweet) my two favorite things. LOL

@trooworld I hope you get your Comic Con tickets. I know you love going every year. The street fair sounds fun if you like people..LOL. I will stay home in my cozy house. (next you can hear my sister say of course you would). Sorry Sams is that way, you would think they would monitor that. I do a Sams order once a month and put it in the freezer as I just mostly buy my meat there, plus staple product. LOL
    well enjoy your weekend!!

@trooworld That’s too bad about pickup but it’s already done. Now you can enjoy using what you ordered. Like @cbabie said, I’m not a crowds kind of person. But that’s something you enjoy and it’s nice to have things to look forward to. Also the street fair. @cbabie That’s too bad that the doctor didn’t call. Hopefully Monday you can get some answers. Challah is a sweet eggy bread. My cousin made it into rolls. Traditionally it’s a braided bread with an egg wash. Plus more calories that I had planned to use, but it’s not something I get often. Hi, all. I went for a walk this morning and it was nice outside. I did a strength workout even though I didn’t want to. Tonight we are having Mediterranean takeout as DH can’t leave the house. DD, my SIL and my granddaughter are coming over.

Hi all currently in Savannah Georgia. I’ll be here til Monday and then go to South Carolina and fly back to MN on Wednesday

Getting in lots of steps but I’m enjoying too much southern food I think

Had a nice walk on the river where a guy was making saltwater taffy. I bought 3 pieces

@cbabie That's good you got out and that it is getting cooler. That sucks it's getting muggy. I'm sorry your knee is still yucky, I hope you try to call on Monday. Physician heal thyself... :) Yeah Comic Con tickets...more on that below. I do love going every year. The street fair is so much fun even though there are annoying people there lol. Yeah it sucks about Sam's. I love going there but that is really annoying. I wish I had a freezer big enough for stuff but I only have the little freezer part above my fridge. Thank you!

@fabgeekmom True. Yes, I did look forward to it. Despite the crowds (I'm not huge on crowds, either). I'm glad it was nice for your walk. Good job with the exercise. Yum, I love Mediterranean food and it's pretty easy to get something kind of healthy.

@theslightedgeforever You jet setter, you! That sounds like a nice trip. I love Southern food and taffy. Enjoy!

Hi all. We were not able to get Comic-Con tickets, unfortunately. BUT...we have one more chance to get them: at the end of October, tickets to the general public go on sale (yesterday's sale was for returning attendees). So, hopefully, we have better luck. The sleep doctor wants me to get a new sleep study done (I was diagnosed with mild sleep apnea years ago). He said that my waking up to go to the bathroom every 2-3 hours can be a sign of sleep apnea. We went to the street fair at about 11 and it was hot but nice to walk around. My knee started hurting and I didn't bring my cane, so I was kind of having a hard time. We went back later after dark and listened to some bands. My knee was really bothering me so we went home. This morning, I am FINALLY going to water aerobics with one of my friends.

    Good Morning!

Getting my cleaning and organizing done before the next class starts next month. Got through the freezers and tossed a lot of stuff that I wasn’t eating and that has gone past its Best Buy/Sell By dates. Next up is fridge and pantry, vacuuming, dusting. Wash the walls I’m going to try to get to today. If not will pick a night during the week to do. Washing floors might have to wait until it’s not so wet out. Dogs, rain and dirt don’t fair well for floors.

Need to make sure I eat healthier. I was less than 7 pounds from being under 200lbs then gained like 4 pounds. Frustrating with the next class coming up and will have to stay away from gym to get classwork done. At least after this course I’ll be halfway through.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

@theslightedgeforever Oh, I get that about Southern food. So good but unfortunately usually not healthy. But you were on vacation so you enjoyed it. And yum to salt water taffy! @trooworld Too bad you didn’t get the tickets but hopefully you’ll get them the next time they go on sale. I hope you enjoyed the water aerobics. @gemwolf110 Wow, you got a lot done. I guess it’s frustrating not being able to go to the gym. Hi, all. I walked outside and did some strength workouts. I also went grocery shopping. Luckily DS was home so he unloaded my groceries. DD came over and made chicken noodle soup for dinner. It was a Skinnytaste recipe. It’s on the website; just look up chicken noodle soup.

@gemwolf110 Good morning! Sounds like you are keeping busy. That's a good idea to go through all that stuff before class starts again. I can't believe you are halfway through already, it seems like you just started! :D

@fabgeekmom Yes! Thank you. Good job with the exercise. Chicken noodle soup is so comforting.

Hi all. I did make it to water aerobics yesterday with my friend. It felt really good. The pool was large so there was no need to worry if there would be too many people and I wouldn't be able to attend (this was part of my anxiety). I got a lock so another part of my anxiety (people stealing stuff) was relieved. The water was pretty warm and it was sunny out and kind of hot so it was perfect. There were a lot of other attendees and they were very welcoming. It was nice because the attendees were the only non-staff people at the pool, so I didn't have to worry about onlookers (another part of my anxiety). The class itself was good: we got in the water a little ahead of time and just kind of puttered around. I ended up burning 600 cals. I will go back with or without my friend. I came home and my DH and I ran a few errands. I was pooped out so I took a nap. It was a nice day and a nice weekend.

Morning, well nothing to report...still can't get ahold of the Dr...fighting depression today. Otherwise all is good..

@trooworld so glad you enjoyed the pool. I have a pool and never get in it..LOL. I think all the knee therapy helped me not to like the water. I still hope you get those tickets.!!

@fabgeekmom so glad you are getting your movement in..strength training is probably the best for us at this stage in our life. I need strong muscles and bones. (Not to mention balance). LOL. I am glad DH is recovering nicely and he has such a good support team with him. You guys are awesome.

@theslightedgeforever enjoy your mini trips...oh enjoy the food too...3 salt water taffy is great planning for you. This is stuff you won't normally have access to so enjoy it!

@trooworld Good job on the water aerobics! 600 calories is a lot. I burn more calories swimming in about 40 calories than any other exercise. Plus it’s fun and most people are friendly. @cbabie That’s terrible that you can’t get in touch with your doctor. And sorry about the depression. Hi, all. I went swimming today. For dinner I made Skinnytaste Coconut Chicken Rice bowl (recipe is on the website). It was very good and easy to prepare. DS made beef stew for dinner tomorrow so all he has to do is microwave it. Tuesday night is family dinner. I have been doing chores that DH usually does so now I appreciate him even more. He’s doing ok but it’s a long recovery.

@cbabie I'm sorry, friend. Do you think you should just go to urgent care about your knee? That's what I do when I can't get ahold of the doctor or can't get an appointment. Can you send them an email or message through their app? Big HUGS. Yes, I enjoyed the pool. I hope we can get the tickets, too!

@fabgeekmom Thank you! That's great. Good job swimming. That sounds yummy, I'll look it up. Oh gosh, a long recovery, that must be making things more complicated for you doing those chores.

Hi all. I had to go to the cardiologist yesterday as part of my clearance for bariatric surgery. The cardiologist wants to do 3 more tests on my heart, she's concerned because I sound a bit out of breath while walking and going up stairs. So, I have 3 appointments for tests over the next 2 weeks + a follow-up appointment for the results. I also have PT appointments + 2 other appointments for tests the surgeon ordered, so I have a lot going on lol. On top of that, my husband started coughing yesterday and now this morning, he sounds awful. I hope he doesn't pass that along to me!

@trooworld It’s good that you’re having all those tests. Too bad abut DH. Are you able to sleep in another room? @gemwolf110 I’m glad you enjoy your water exercises. Hi, all. I went to Sam’s Club today. I got salmon for tomorrow and steaks for Friday plus some other stuff. I did a weight workout and progressed to 5 pound weights. Workouts were tough but I was okay. The beef stew was good tonight. I got a bagged salad at Sam’s to go with dinner. I ate a few cookies for dessert and skipped the bread.

@gemwolf110 That's great to hear! Thank you! Yes, this surgery center is very thorough.

@fabgeekmom Yes, I am glad to be getting them done. Yeah, I am sleeping in the bedroom and he's sleeping in the living room (although last night, he came into the bedroom to sleep in the middle of the night grrrh). Good job with the exercise and congrats on progressing!

Hi all. DH is still sick. He took a COVID test and it was negative so it's probably the flu or a cold. Fingers crossed I don't catch it, so far so good. Before he got sick, he made this Mac & Cheese that has cottage cheese and a layer of spinach in it. We've had it many times and like it. So, we had that last night with some tri-tip. Morning all, I had a rough day yesterday, read the post, but couldn't stop to write. I FINALLY heard from the Dr this morning. x-ray was normal..LOL NOW she wants to see me in person, just to schedule an MRI...UGH. that is what should have happened the first time. Once you break a bone you never forget the pain. Especially MY KNEE. oh well, just go with it. I am just tired of my rear in getting bigger while I am not moving at my normal pace. :)

@trooworld I am glad you have all those appointments as they need to be thorough, but I am also sorry that you have to do all of them. I know I am tired of booking appointments, messes with your entire day. LOL. So glad you like the water aerobics. I hope DH heals quickly and there is a wall of protection around you and your health.

@fabgeekmom Yes we do appreciate our DH when we have to pick up the slack. Hopefully they feel the same with us. LOL. yeah for doing the weights. I just saw something on weights and I thought you know I should be doing that. I will have to find my weights...not sure what I did with them. LOL

@trooworld I hope your DH gets over his cold and you don’t get it. The meal sounds good. @cbabie I know what you mean about remembering the pain of breaking a bone. Hopefully the MRI will show what is wrong with your knee. If you can’t find your weights, you can do body weight exercises. Hi, all. Today was a swim day. I cooked dinner tonight: air fried salmon with teriyaki sauce, Israeli couscous with onions and mushrooms, and a kale salad with beets and goat cheese dressing. And a small piece of chocolate for dessert.

@cbabie Oh gosh, I'm sorry you have to go back to the doctor but at least you will find out what is going on. I agree about breaking a bone, I've broken my tailbone (it still remembers!), my arm, and a few toes. re: the appts...thanks, yes you are right, they need to be thorough. My only sticking point is taking so much time off work: I don't have that much sick time/vacation time and it's burning through all that for these appts. I need that time for my surgery! So far, I'm not sick lol but he's trying: he slept in the bedroom with me last night.

@fabgeekmom Thanks, me too! Yeah the meal was good. Good job with the swim. I would have loved your dinner, it sounds amazing!

Hi all. I started work early today because today's my birthday and I want to get done early so I can do something fun. Either I'm going to do Halloween crafts or my friend is going to take me out, I'm not sure, it depends on if her plans she already has fall through. My husband is still sick so he can't take me anywhere lol. There was a lot of junk in the break room yesterday for my birthday. I succumbed to some of it. And then my officemate brought me a Nothing But Bundt Cakes pumpkin spice cake and I had that. It was a bad eating day.

    Water yesterday: 114.1 oz

My phrase for the year: "New year, new me!"
