I have 4 nights of specialty dining but they give you small portions and I can ask for appetizer portions if needed

Just sent some flowers to my DSIL. Sometimes it's harder on the supporting partner, I know from experience.
So many emotions. I hope I sleep tonight. The Great British Bake Off was a good distraction. I have asked DSIL to let me know when he's up to visitors.
I would go to see my ex, but I'm not sure his wife would be happy about that. The family are flying up end of October.
He is often in my dreams.

Thank you everyone for your concern. We’re fine. Were without power for about 8 hours and internet for about 60. Trying to catch up. So my apologies to everyone if I don’t respond to you personally. Some downed trees in my neighborhood, that’s about the worst. Fortunately, we don’t have many trees on our property. In our last house if we lost electricity, we couldn’t flush the toilet or take a shower. This house we don’t have that problem. Got to watch Dr. Zhivago (love that movie) again and 9 to 5, so it wasn’t a total waste
Brought one of our new neighbors to bowling Monday. He just moved to this neighborhood and doesn’t know anybody so I invited him because there are people our age (retired). I think he enjoyed himself
Lanette – yea for the return of smell. Asheville is about an hour west of us and Jess is east of us. We’re all fine, thank you so much for your concern. How scary for your doctor
Ordered one of those message cookies for Thursday. I’m going to have them put a picture of the sad emoji on it, with the words “I’m sorry”. Friday it’ll be 3 years I’ve been at BK
Medicare Advantage – what I don’t care for is that you can only go to a doctor or hospital in the network. Like the closest hosp. In FL isn’t in network, you have to go to the next town.
Allie – they sure couldn’t film Blazing Saddles today!!!! Somewhere I read that elderly people tend to get a lot of UTI’s and one cause is that they don’t completely empty their bladders when they go to the bathroom
Sorry, Barb, but Miracle Whip isn’t good for anything (neither is Duke’s). Vince was just talking the other day how his parents, before they passed, had a very frank discussion with him about their final wishes. He remembers his father even crying. I think we need to do that with Jess. Oh, my goodness, your premiums!
Came home from work yesterday and the guys were putting down mulch. So I had to run and pick up the ceramics. Wish I’d known in advance that they were going to be doing it
Vince still has the plantar fasciatis. He went bowling Mon and kept saying how it was excruciating. Didn't go to ceramics at night. I know it hurts badly, but you can't stop living and just sitting. I do hope he goes bowling tomorrow because if he doesn't, they'll start to worry. So far he'll only have gone to one session with this league
when the power finally came back on, got 4 loaves of sourdough baked!
Allie – oh how sweet, Miles kissing Delia. Have an awesome time on your trip
Tina – that’s scary about your eye. HUGS
Deb – thanks for telling everyone all’s well here
Did some pilates the other day. Haven’t done any in a long time and boy, did I feel it!!!
Heather – when we went to Paris, Vince kept saying that I would be the one who most likely would get pickpocketed since I’m such a trusting person. So guess who got pickpocketed??? (Hint: not me)
I have a small purse that I take into BK with me. I just have my phone, a pen, lip balm, bandaid, key fob. What I like is that there is a zipper in the middle, that’s where I keep the key fob. I don’t need keys at BK, or credit cards, etc. I do take my credit card to Food Lion or the dollar store but keeping it in the zippered part
Rori – inquiring minds want to know, tell us all about the trip
Also got a few of the towel toppers done while we didn’t have internet.
Fired my palm tree the other day so I’ll get it tonight. There is a woodie with a surfboard (that I haven’t done yet) that go next to it

Oh my Allie! That ice cream cone is almost as biģ as the kid.
Michelle - glad you and yours are all safe.
Who was it had a recipe for balsamic chicken breast in the crock pot? Could you please, please post it again. I would be very grateful.
This morning started out beautiful but when I went out a little bit ago it was cloudy and getting quite chilly. I usually sit on the gazebo with Tootsie our barn cat for a little while after I feed horses in the afternoon but it was too cold to stay there for long. I have lights pn in the house already because it is so cloudy.
Having burritos for dinner tonight.

Still not feeling good-the coughing is getting annoying. I did get a little relief at night from Robitussin Gummies. took them three times during the night.
I think I will use the nebulizer a few times(should have done it last night but too tired to set the machine up) today so hope that helps. Plan on skipping class again tomorrow unless I really feel better.

Vicki: I'm thrilled to hear you have a promising new employee, and congrats on the bath makeover.
Heather: So very sorry to hear of your dear ones suffering.
Michele: Big relief to hear from you. Glad you, family and your property are all okay.
Our five days in Maine were lovely. N picked me up on Saturday night in Boston and we went directly to our hotel in the coastal town of Ogunquit. It is one of those towns that made a big impression on me when I visited for a day in fall about 15 years ago. Going back had always been a goal, and it didn't disappoint. Beautiful weather. Summer flowers were flourishing even as pumpkins and mums were being set out. The coastline is rocky and the water is cold, but the sunrises are glorious and we had some really nice slow walks by the water. Met a senior woman who lives there and swims in the ocean every day. She radiated good health and vitality. I'm seriously intrigued, and will research how to get started doing cold plunges. We ate fresh seafood everyday. Even had lobster incorporated into an omelet, a first for me. The time went quickly, as it always does whenever we get together. We are both back to our busy home lives, and stay in touch with daily texts and occasional calls. Our next date is tentatively set for early November, location TBA.
It has been unseasonably warm here. Hit 90 yesterday and will be back into high 80s tomorrow. Wish our pool hadn't closed. Not sure if I shared that the orthopedic doctor said that the arthritis in my hips is not bad at all. The pain and stiffness I'm have is a classic case of strained hip flexors. With strength exercises and rest, it should improve. Just hearing that news made everything feel better! She prescribed 12 exercises to be done daily, working up to the full number of reps recommended.
I worked my first hockey event of the new season the other night. I'm still not a fan of the sport, but I find the behind the scenes preparations and people so interesting. Basketball season is just around the corner...yay!
Okay, 'nuf jammering. I need to drink more water and do my journaling. Stay well, friends. We can do this.

Happy October! October is my month! Yesterday, I decided to rest instead of working out. Today, I joined my doctor's group, "Move and Groove," and I loved it! We walked on the walking trail, and prior to that, my physical therapist went over warm-ups. One lady around my age said she was ready to go back after one mile, so I would go with her, but my therapist told me to keep going. I told them I couldn't tolerate hills but did fine with them. I weighed in at the doctors, and they were happy that I had lost 30 pounds since the last time I saw them. With my labs, they ordered another pill. My cabinet looks like a pharmacy. So, as of today, I am 100 pounds less than my highest weight. It took a few years of ups and downs, but I did it. Now I have 75 pounds to go. My neighbor Rotweiller was out for two days in a row, and she had me screaming and running to my car. I had to honk for the neighbor to put her away. Maybe I should carry one of Rose's treats so it can leave me alone. I had to calm the other neighbor, who was scared as well. I did a small amount of organizing my desk today and paying some bills. My Uncle in love in California is in ICU. DH is worried that his mom may need to go to LA. My brother-in-law has retired, so he may need to take her.
Barbara- That baby was given too much Benadryl and was knocked out. I just sternal rubbed her, and she woke up and frowned at me. The doctor walked in and felt better, too, so she responded. It would have been bad if her heart stopped and she was blue. She was just in a deep sleep. She does have seizures, so I had to assess her for the nurse. She is only 1and1/2 years old. She is so cute. I had been caring for her, but I had no patients since I was in charge.
Lisa- I love scrunchies, especially the Christmas ones. I like to match my scrubs with them. You are doing great with your weight loss.
Barbie, you had a lot going on but started our month with pearls of wisdom. Thank you, and I managed to get in this month without a problem. I will keep Jake in my prayers.
Rebecca- It is scary when your baby is sick, even if he is an adult. They will always be our baby. I am glad both of your boys are fine.
Allie- Were you able to pick up Selena before your cruise?
Pip, since it is a new month, put your donation stuff on this page in case anyone wants to donate again. You are almost there.
Beth, the weight could be water weight. Check your macros and see the sodium level you eat in a day. Drink your water, too. You will succeed in your goals for this month; I know it.
I am so thankful that Michelle is okay.
Well, I will hit the shower and put my serums on my face for bed. Take care and be safe
everyone.
XO

We couldn’t afford for our girls to be in a lot of activities. They were both in Sea Cadets. It was a program that actually paid them, it kept them plenty busy and taught them lots.
Kaitlyn and Brodey met in Kingston, ON summer of 2009 during their summer program.
Heather - sorry your brother is so ill. Hopefully a couple nights in hospital sets him on the path to wellness.
Sorry you’re having so many hits at once.
I think it’s your birthday by the time you see this. I hope you have a wonderful day.
Rita - great job on your goals!
Michele - glad you are all safe.
I was off my feet for months with my plantar fasciitis, I tried to work through it and made it so much worse. As a matter of fact it’s flaring again this week after the busy weekend.
I’m heading to bed early.

Yes, it's my birthday today. My son is popping over at 7.30 am, to bring presents and say hello.
Not too bad a night. Read for an hour.
Looking forward to getting dressed up for my lunch.
Will take John a cup of tea, and I'm expecting presents to open!

The kids gave me a Happy Birthday message. Can't post the video, so this is a screenshot. Max was v uncomfortable, and Edie is wearing her swimming towel.
My son turned up in his running gear. Apparently he drives her to her 6 am lesson and goes for a run for an hour. Great idea.
I had asked for, and got, an array of painting canvases and a canvas roll of brushes and palette knife. It's a joint present with John. Super funny homemade cards from the kids.
Consumables and a book from John. He bought me the clothes from M&S a while back.

Good morning beautiful ladies!
Michele so happy you are okay! Yay!
Mo sorry you were chased by the neighbors dog. It may be time to get a trainer involved.
Heather happy birthday!
Machka Canada, eh? I thought you had been quiet. So glad you were able to get back there. Did you see family?
I'm a little frustrated this morning. We were supposed to go walking in the forest but dad refused to get up. I can't leave him alone. I could have walked around the house I suppose.
Have a great day! May you be happy, healthy, safe and free!

Hello, my chickens...
Hope it is/was a good Wednesday for all and sundry. I am a happy camper, already folded the first load of laundry from the new washer. I was trying to get at least as large a capacity as my old one, but I think I ended up getting one that's a fair bit larger, as it's quite a bit more of a reach to get to the bottom of the drum! I can always use a stretch. 😊
Machka - Kinda thought you were traveling - hadn't seen as much of you. Hope your Canada visit was wonderful, how did Rowan do with the traveling? You're traveling a lot more of late. Hope it's going fairly easily, as well as rewarding. Also, how are your parents, particularly your mom?
Karen VA - Good to see you pop up.
Michele - Glad you and Vince are OK.
Mo - Glad you were able to help your little ones.
Finished up a few nitnoid bits and pieces yesterday and this morning, working on Christmas fabric gift bags, but thinking on a couple of design pieces while I do other things that don't engage that part of my mind.
Oh - and my iron and blood count testing came back and every single one is in the normal range. Woot! I know when I'm feeling anemic, and am pretty sure no one with the energy levels I have is anemic... 😂 still nice to have it confirmed, though...
One thing I did want to say, though--talked it over with a friend yesterday at length... I was trying to figure out what I actually do for self care--whether it's art or a long shower, or some form of relaxation, and realized that I'm finally coming around to what I call "yoga" as a form of self-care. It's probably better called "extended stretching," as it's not done with any religious bent or thought, it's just various postures and gentle movements right now that are meant to help my flexibility. But it is finally becoming something that I use for self-care, with all that entails. She pointed out that when you've spent your whole life looking at exercise as a chore or an obligation, it's a really good mental step to take.
Just thought I'd share.
Later,
Love,
lisa.

Yippee. Today we'll pick up garlic starts. Next steps will be to clear out the sunflowers and poppies in the small raised bed and sift the compost to get the bed ready for planting the garlic.
Heather, Happy Birthday. How great that your family knows how you like to celebrate.
Mo you have found such a good balance in your life. Congrats on the weight you've lost so far and the good habits you've developed to continue the journey.

I am not sure. I know Crohn's is an automatic disqualification when joining the Navy, but since he's already in maybe that is something they'll work with. I know ships don't do "special dietary needs" nor could be be on watch on meds, so its hard to know. I do know they won't just do a "you have this disease, bye" sort of mibdset.🙏🙄💖

Good morning ladies!
Happy Birthday Heather, sounds like a great day of celebrating.
Mo - your loose neighbor dog makes me nervous. Hope the owners find a way to keep it in their own yard. Congrats on your weight loss by the way, you've done a great job.
Rori - I always enjoy hearing about your adventures with N. Fabulous food in Maine- look at the lobster peeking out. Did you ever think after your DH passed that your life would take such an adventurous route? Your fun job and fun N?
I managed to get a coating of stain on the deck floor early yesterday afternoon, and was looking forward to having it dry quickly since the Hippy Dippy weatherman predicted sunshine until dark. Right after I finished and was cleaning up, the clouds rolled in along with a chilly breeze like Sue experienced. Crossing fingers we'll get sunshine back today. My only concern is Rosie walking on it since it's not dry yet, so I've been carrying her in and out to do her business.
Noodles the Executive Assistant Pooch:Interesting and funny things keep popping up in my YouTube feed. Lately, I've been hooked on Noodles. She's a malti-poo with the same attitude and tricks I had (or WISH that I'd had and could get away with ) during my last few years of work when I'd get roped into answering the phone and organizing meetings. Plus, I swear I had annoying co-workers identical to the ones she comments about. If you have time to waste, check these out.
As you can see, there's a bunch of these. I didn't drink on the job, but I do remember when the county commissioners kept a bottle in their desk drawers.
Make it a fun day!
