From what I know, at some point, it does become difficult to lose more. Your body does get acclimated to the dosage. I would speak with your doctor about that. There could be a lot of different reasons for why you're plateauing, and without all of the facts and knowing your history, there's simply nothing else I can suggest for a safe option for you.
Adding cardio exercises like recumbent bike, swimming, etc are definitely helpful, but with your arthritis, I am assuming you can't do them for very long. But even 15 minutes is a good start. The goal is to increase your heart rate in a healthy way. Good luck!!2 -
I have been on Tirzepatide Compound for 7 weeks I have lost about 14 lbs. Which I am fine with as long as that number on the scale keeps going down... I pay $230 per refill. each bottle is 30ML. My insurance doesn't cover it but the clinic I go to goes through this pharmacy. I love the fact that I don't think about food. I do have to force myself to eat, but I focus on getting as much protein and water in and don't worry about anything else...
They have been talking a lot about the GLP-1's in the news lately, and they said they can charge Americans 3X the price and get away with it...Hopefully this will change soon...2 -
Hi, I’m Pam and I’m looking for folks using any of the GLP1 drugs for weight loss drug. Please share tips and tricks you are using.
I used it for about 4 months. Started making me sick. My Gallbladder was starting to act up. I had lost 25lbs. I quit and the weight came right back. Just know you'll have to stay on it. Be careful and notice any changes in your system!2 -
@JodieHut - I lost this thread for a while but joining back and bookmarking it this time. Sorry for the delay on your message back to me early on. I ended up doing alot more digging and research, talking to some friends who also went on this medication and ultimately finding a good telehealth company. I started on compounded Tirzepitide back in July. I have made major changes with my diet and exercise routine since and stayed consistent because I know this medication will not be life long . I had to look at it as a tool to help me reset my system so to speak. I have lost about 32 lbs and currently sitting at about 180 lbs. My goal weight is 165 but I would love to get to 150 ideally. I focus on protein and fiber , HIT workouts and strength training. Its been HARD but very rewarding because I am starting to feel SO MUCH BETTER . Physically and mentally.
There is alot of news right now about the availability of the Tirzepitide becoming unavailable because the FDA took it off the shortage list a few days ago but I think given the demand for these compounded meds, the compounding pharmacies will continue to find a way to navigate and make it available. I sure hope the supply doesn't dry up because its been a blessing for me.

I am on Zepbound since the end of March. I have been on 2.5 till this week. I just did by first 5mg shot. Down 21lbs. I think I am a medium responder. I have to work at it but the tricks that never worked now do. I track my food and try to stay around 1400 calories.
I have experienced the same thing. Healthy eating of whole foods, keeping within a calorie deficit and excercise made little dent in my progress once I hit perimenopause . I was totally discouraged and kept packing on the pounds no matter what so I decided to give these meds a try. Best decision I have ever made for myself and my health. With the reduction of weight, my cortisol is now more controllable. Increased fat cells generate more cortisol and cause additional hormonal issues for women my age which is part of why its so difficult.4 -
I was originally prescribed Ozempic because my GP learned that it can help NAFLD, which I have had for years.
My A1C has been excellent since I was diagnosed with diabetes. I had already been eating pretty good, but tightened it up easily enough. It’s been a couple years since diagnosis. And I’ve lost a decent amount of weight, with one long plateau that demoralized me enough to fall off the wagon for a year and gain some back.
I have noticed that I do struggle with some hangry times. Usually late at night.
It took a bit of back and forth with my insurance, but I recently got approved and took my first dose last night.
Fingers crossed
Zero side effects so far…. 20 pounds would be good. 45 pounds would be fantastic.
And I think I have been doing this long enough that I have the skills to maintain once I reach goal.

@MargaretYakoda - sounds like your on the right path to a healthier maintainable habits. That's the biggest challenge, sticking to the plan over time. Lucky you were able to get your insurance to cover it.
I wish mine would but for now , the compound option is working , albeit still a bit of a hit on the monthly budget1 -
@HappyDonkey75 ... I think tirzepatide with go back on the shortage list as well. I hope so, cause I feel great on it. I've lost 58 pounds in 23 weeks.. but I have a long way to go, so I still need it! I have enough, currently, to get me through December. After that, I will switch to compound semaglutide if tirz is still unavailable.2

@JodieHut - wow, congrats , thats amazing. I am just over 12 weeks on the Tirz. I have lost about 20 lbs since starting the meds in that time frame. I had lost about 12 lbs prior to starting meds with just getting my calories under control and getting back into a fitness routine but I had stalled at 200 lbs and was afraid of losing ground at that point.
My body was fighting me hard to not get below that 200 lb mark.. I would like to lose another 25 lbs to get to my ideal weight.
I still have side effects for two days after the shot even after all this time. Mostly mild nausea, malaise and fatigue and a slight headache. by day 3 it goes away and so I deal with it.

I lost about 15 pounds without medication but my weight loss stalled for over a year so I tried ozempic. Unfortunately It didn't help. So I stopped taking it and gained 20 pounds in a year. I guess it was doing something. I spoke to my doctor and started rybelsus this year. I lost 10 pounds in 6 weeks and then stalled for a month. I started on a 14mg dose this morning and haven't had much of an appetite all day! If this continues I think the scale will start moving down again. I'm excited that this medication at this dose seems to be helping. It's the first real reduction in appetite I've experienced. I'm lucky that I don't have any side effects like nausea and headache. I also like that rybelsus is in pill form. I didn't like the injections. I've always had quite a healthy diet but just ate too much. I walk a lot so get a fair amount of exercise. I feel hopeful again! Good luck to everyone!1

I use Ozempic for Type 2 diabetes and part of that was a 10% weight loss. Challenging drug. I have already picked up the tips about protein and fibre and find them to really help reduce side effects0 -

Perimenopause!! I feel this so hard right now. I started moving into perimenopause 7 years ago. I had always been fit and at a healthy weight. I was running marathons and out of nowhere the weight started coming on fast. I’ve worked a trainer and dietitian, my doctor, weight loss clinics, and my weight won’t budge. I maintain 220. I sometimes fluctuate between 215-220, but never more or less no matter what I’m doing. I just started my first injection yesterday, and hoping for good results.

@Zoomie402 - Are you starting Tirzepitide or Semi? Yes , the perimenopause a killer. Its so maddening. The non budging weight was a huge deciding factor for pulling the trigger on starting med Bs for me. Best decision I have ever made, granted its pricey but I feel so much better. The biggest thing is PROTEIN, FIBER and strength training. I am staying at 1500 calories per day but have recently started with upping my protein and that seemed to be helping me with a recent stall. I am at about a 30 lb loss and was about 176 lbs a week ago (before a week long vacation ) so a stall was expected *but it still made me annoyed** I have about 25 more to go which seems daunting to be honest. Best of luck and happy to answer any questions on the meds , what to expect, how to manage the side effects, or really anything. I joined a few fb groups that have been a great source of support.0
