Rita-very sad about Jim. If they suddenly wanted the enforce a rule they have ignored for years, they could have grandfathered him. Are they going to make you and others leave?
Allie-sweet picture of kids.
Lisa-of course a man who mops is a keeper!
Pip-sorry Kirby took a tumble-hope he wasn't hurt too bad-keep an eye on him with that head hit.
Lanette-I have found some brands I like on Amazon. Same as diabetic supplies. Sad so many things have to be locked up now.
Rested yesterday. Got up early today with stupid time change. Went to church with son and dil-granddaughter was baptized today. She was an absolute gem! I really like the couple they asked to be godparents. Known the boy for years and his wife is the sweetest thing. They announced at lunch that they are expecting their first!
Going to go work for an hour or so-stuff is so behind. Just taking things one task at a time. Will be glad to get testing over with so I know if we are going to do anything.
Take care all,

I went back to see what my pace was when I did that 11 mile run. Being that a 1/2 is 13.1 miles, I would have finished in about 2 hours 15minutes. Always next year4

Yea Allie. Fantastic fantastic weight loss.
Annie – this menagerie sure makes for interesting things...lol Last night we kept Pixel and Cosmo in one bedroom and the bathroom and closed the door. Tonight we’ll probably let them in the house but they can go in the rooms if they want to. Everyone seems to be getting along. Sometimes Ganon gets jealous, tho. Earlier he had a bone on the porch, he left it and came in the house. In the meantime Fred was laying on the bone. Well, when Ganon saw that he actually let out a yelp. Now Vince is concerned that Fred has been traumatized. I just said to Vince “oh, he’ll get over it”. Honestly, now every little noise, it’s Ganon’s fault. Regardless of the fact that there aren’t any cats near there, it’s Ganon’s fault. Ganon is learning that there are cat toys that he shouldn’t play with and they need to know that he has toys they shouldn’t play with. I keep telling him that the more he is concerned, the worse it’ll be. He just says “I don’t know”. Honestly, this is about how you treat a child. If you make a big deal out of every little scrape, they get paranoid.
Vince grilled chicken for this week and the freezer. Last time he grilled chicken thighs it was very smokey. So I thought that it might be the skin on the thigh so this time I took the skin off. It was still smokey so now I know that if ever we have chicken thighs, I need to cook them in the oven.
Pip – OUCH!! Kirby’s bruise looks horrible (not him, just his bruise). I do hope Kirby heals fast and well. What a disappointment for him (and you)!
Took Ganon out for the last time. Now to take a shower and probably go to bed. See, I didn’t get much sleep since I took the decongestant for my sinuses which always makes me wide awake.
Made dog biscuits. Will probably take some with me when we go for a walk because we usually see other dogs. I realized that I probably shouldn't go to the gym Wed. after work but come home and take Ganon for a walk.

Hello friends.
Have finally caught up after falling behind by a week. Thank you all for the photos.
Barbie: I'm glad to hear Jake is home and you have good medical facilities nearby.
Allie: Awesome weight loss.
Annie: Hope your gut issues stay calm. Same for your youngest, Rebecca.
Kim: My tenant has been here 2 years and doesn't seem to be in any rush to find his own place. We get along great, but I have to admit I do a little happy dance everytime he goes and stays at his girlfriend's place. All in all, it's a win-win. I feel a bit safer and I have built in plant sitter for when I travel, which I can more readily afford thanks to the rental income.
It's only 6:45 pm but I almost feel like going to bed. After a gloriously warm and mild fall thus far, we have a storm coming through and the temps are falling. Heather: would you mind sharing link for your thin, warm socks?
I've been working alot more hockey and basketball games. The PT exercises the ortho gave me have definitely helped my hips. Next week I have an appointment to check the arthritis in left knee and Mortons neuroma in left foot. These flare at night making it more challenging to fall asleep.
This will be a fun month. N is enroute here (from New Hampshire) in his Hippie van. He will golf in some southern states he needs to check off his list, but seems confident he can be here Nov 14th. He wants to stay in town a few days. I have tickets to a symphony, but beyond that no concrete plans for activities or meals. He will depart around the 19th so that I can get myself packed and ready for trip to Phuket. I really don't want to spend the money for business class seating on the plane so am practicing nightly sleeping upright with my airline neck collar and eye shades. And melatonin!
On my gratitude list today: warm kitty sleeping on my lap on a cold night. Stay well, friends. We can do this

Rita - how incredibly sad. I hope the park learns some lessons in empathy.
Beth - It’s funny how many of the residents complain about the entertainment but when they think no one is watching they are singing along, tapping their foot or hands in time to the music, bobbing their head or just smiling. I don’t know why they do it.
Rebecca - I don’t want to be a grumpy old person either. I think a lot can lead to it though. Children and family that ignore, pain, too much loss. I am forever having the discussion about quality over quantity of life. My DH doesn’t understand my thinking.
They have proven that loneliness can lead to dementia’s
Lisa - love the colours in Corey’s afghan.
I do better at making things personalized to the person too.
Lanette - What an obituary!
Annie - In Canada they set up polling stations in the nursing homes. Any of the residents can vote, but they must be able to hold the pencil themselves and be alone behind the station.
Allie - Those Grands of yours are the cutest.
Congratulations on the weight loss.
Rori - Nice to see you pop in.
It’s been a long few days, today I forced myself to organize all of the scrapbooking supplies I was given a couple of weeks ago. I feel better having it done.
Yesterday we had our first Christmas market. It was disappointing, it was very nicely laid out, in a good location and well organized. The only complaint I have is that there was no advertising other than FB. If they had had signage out on the roads it would have been much better attended I think.
Oh well, we made our table fee back and it was for the Canadian Mental Health Association but kept in the community office.
Lauryn and the Grands spent the night Friday night so that she could help me. The Grands spent the day with Rodger.
Our door opens into the kitchen but blocks our hallway off in doing so.
Rodger was coming up the hallway as I entered the door today. I came in the house and he says “you hit me with the door”
I said “Didn’t you put your hand out”
He says “yes but it hit my hand that’s part of my body so I can say you hit me with a door in court.
😂😂😂
He makes me laugh almost daily.

Morning, my chickens,
The same weather system that is snowing on Rori in Colorado at its western edge is rolling over us in wave after wave of rain and lighting. Between the thunderboomers and the time change, it popped me right out of bed at 2:30. That's OK, I can nap later. The northern end of the same system is stretching up as far as KJ in Michigan, and looks like it might roll over Ginny's way, as well, in Ohio. A central section may well be raining on Vicki in Nebraska. There may yet be others of us touched by this one, it's a BIG beastie.
See - this is how I look at the weather - who's getting rained on today! Margaret - is it supposed to get as far as you? The southern end of this same system may well be raining on Rita in New Mexico, who really doesn't need any more rain. Hope the dam that you were talking about didn't break, dear heart.
Vicki - thinking about you for completely different reasons as well. Hope you're doing OK. 🥰
Would like to accomplish a couple things before I roll back in bed, so I think I will go get something done. Egg wanted to go outside, but under the carport, where it is never raining, you know. Silly kitty.😹Need to check on her first.
Be good out there, and if you're living in the path of a storm, keep your powder dry, ladies... 😂
Love y'all!
Lisa in AR5 -
Rain just now ...
- not in Tasmania
- not much in the UK
- definitely coming to where my parents are, with a bit of snow nearby
- and maybe a little where my brother is

Good morning beautiful ladies!
Rebecca I love how you challenge all the routine things. Hope your hair project goes well. I stopped brushing mine so much because I pull out strands and it's thin to begin with. I ought to take the biotin again, that seemed to help.
Lisa and Lanette yes my gut is healing. I'm going to stay at this level, rice and eggs in small portions, at least until Wednesday if I can resist.
Rita so sorry about the flooding! The wrong time to be in a tent.
Pip Kirby sounds really banged up. Was he checked for concussion?
Michele yes dogs and cats have to learn to get along. It's better that they signal when they are upset instead of hiding it. Sounds like you have it under control.
Rori when I think about life after caregiving, I think of you and you inspire me!
Machka don't forget about all that moving exercise! Slugging boxes!
My Dad was talking about burning leaves. We have a burn ban because it's so dry. Plus I don't think it's allowed in town. So I think I will just move the matches.
Have a great day! May you all be happy, healthy, safe and free!

Yup, I moved the matches way out of sight. My dad is very bad at looking for things.

Hi y'all Penny from Texas here. Still getting to know y'all. I just turned 50 and have a lot of weight to lose. I was listening to a podcast this morning titled "Hugging the Cactus " that's been inspiring me today. It was about how conquering a bad habit was not focusing on the habit but on the type of person you want to be. In my case stop trying to focus on losing weight and focus instead on being a healthy disciplined person. I like that. Off to pick up my first at home sleep study kit for apnea this morning. Down 11 pounds after my first 2 weeks. Yay! I'll try and check in daily and respond at least once to someone else's post as well. Thanks for the group!7

Welcome Penny in Texas. I like your plan of focusing on the type of person you want to be. One of the first decisions I made in this journey was change my identity of being a great chocolate chip cookie baker. I left baking aside and now am known as a walker and a knitter. I knit blankets for Project Linus and do most of my knitting while riding my recumbent exercise bike and watching TV. People in my neighbourhood know me because they see me walk past their house every day no matter what the weather. Yes, you can be the person you want to be. Keep coming back and you'll get lots of good ideas and support.

Pip, One of the toughest adjustments I've had to make in life was changing what I've been doing to accommodate my husband's changing abilities. It has been a challenge and I know you'll do well.

I am making him stay home and I will walk the kids. He wanted to go but I told him that he won’t be walking as fast as I will so he said he would stay home and start getting the Christmas lights out.

Lisa We are getting rain here too! No storms though! We need the rain we have had little rain in September and October! I went to a wonderful concert yesterday. A fellow choir member is in another singing group where you need to tryout to be part of it. Gorgeous music. Weight is holding steady 154-155 morning and 156-157 at night. Still no sinus infections, less aches and pains, no getting sick often(minor 2 day cold this summer), digestive system working better, and clothes fit better. Turned down a cookie offered yesterday as I left the concert. Thanked them but said I no longer eat cookies!4

Oh no Pip, so sorry Kirby had a stumble! You guys are quite the team, thru stumbles and races, and bike rides, and in life!👍🏼💖

Stormy, windy and rainy, and gray on the island. Had some flickers but no major power outages..yet. I envision some dopey wires hung from Deception Pass bridge that a branch knocks over, like thousands of us rely on that one blasted wire.
Rinsed my hair with ACV today. It is still managing well. Its almost been three weeks since I used shampoo. They say I should be over the worst part just the first month. I am hoping it won't be too strange when I visit my sister. I don't want to shampoo it and have to kind of start over. But if it looks too funky, of course I will.
Yesterday made a roast, potatoes, carrots and an onion. It was really yummy! I might make a nice soup today, husband is having French Dip sandwich.
Hugs ladies!
