Diana: Welcome to the group. Don’t be put off by the number of posts. No need to reply to them all. Just jump in when you feel the urge. 😂
Barbie: 🥰 the colours on that blanket.
Heather: I keep a stack of those little cards on my desk to doodle on when the notion strikes. I have loads of different pens there as well.
Machka: The weekend feels different for me because I do so many U3A activities during the week. (U3A: the lifelong learning charity that I am a volunteer leader for).
I did indeed have a restful day. Tomorrow afternoon I have Monday Painters. We are doing currently portraiture practice.
🤗🤗🤗 and 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 for those who need them.

Did a Jillian Michaels Beginning Winner DVD. This was a new one for me. Then I did a Kathy Smith Project You (yoga) DVD then my walk around the block then to WalMart. I’m starting to get my Thanksgiving ingredients. Just some of the things that have a long expiration date.
Made more of the fudge for Vince. I think it has a good consistency. I’m always looking for the consistency like the kind you get in the stores and this recipe comes pretty darn close.
I’m thinking that probably Tues I’ll walk to Food Lion and order the turkey. I want a fresh one.
Annie – right now I’ve stopped wearing eye makeup for a bit. I’ll probably start up again when I get to FL. It just feels good not to have to worry about it smudging or getting on the sheets, etc. Not that I try to get it on, but accidents happen. I make the apple crumb pie. Wonder if I need to put less crumbs on it so it vents more?
Tracey – I can’t get over how talented you are!!! Wish I had even 1/100th of your talent
Vince had his gallbladder removed and he doesn’t have any dietary restrictions at all.
Grey sky here, too. Not rainy – just gloomy. When I took my walk, I needed to put on a long sleeved shirt and wore a vest. Boooooooo
Yea for Sesame Street day! I loved it when the kids were smaller, not just them. Wish we could find it on PJ’s TV. Next time we’re up there (which will probably by in April) I’m going to Google it and see if I can find out the channel and time up there
Went to CVS with Vince so he could pick up some prescriptions, then to WalMart because he wanted to look for adult cat food. Maybe they'll eat it? Then went to JCPenney since I had a coupon for $10 off so I got Lynette a quilted vest for Christmas. Wound up costing me $7 and change. Only thing is -- I had to order her size online. They don't carry it in the store. Plus (and this isn't a biggie) it cost $1 more than what's in the store since it's a much larger size.
She told me she lost 40 pounds but gained 10 of it back. I would have thought someone on Ozempic would have lost more, but I guess not.
Diana – welcome!

Terri - thank you!
Heather - Yes! I find it takes away from the enjoyment and I love sharing the talent. 😂
I have found myself really compartmentalizing my projects. Ceramics, scrapbooking and stockings are only for family and close friends so I love doing them and don’t think I would want to try to sell them.
The stuff we do for sales, I enjoy but mostly I find it a means to an end. I enjoyed it more when we sat at the table and worked on stuff at the same time. Now I feel it’s one big argument and mess.
It’s been grey and gloomy here for two days and that’s enough for me. It’s amazing what the sun does for our moods.
Ginny - that beef roast sounds good, is it in the freezer section?
Rebecca - that would have been a rude way to wake up.
I woke up very slowly this morning. I had slept so soundly that I felt I hadn’t moved for hours. It was an odd feeling. Even my dream kept lingering. It seems all of my loved ones were in it, even those that have passed.
Lanette - thank you. I hadn’t thought of having it replace anything but I can picture it now that you’ve said it.
Barbie - I love that blanket.
Michele - I had to Google to see if Sesame Street still airs. It does, it’s next season in 2025 will be having a new reimagined style.
40lbs is a a great loss no matter how you get it.
I made some more buildings today after I went to Dollar Tree for more trees.
Then I decided to finish one of Kaitlyn’s projects for her to surprise her next weekend.
I have a little more to do on it tomorrow.
Tomorrow I have to do something housework and some personal paperwork. Neither of which I want to do. If it gets as nice as it says I may decorate outside after the Remembrance Day services.
I slept in until 10 yesterday and 9 today. I don’t know why I’m so tired.

Does anyone remember if it was Penny at the Pole who cut up 1 pound of veggies each day and then ate them throughout the day? Did she do just veggies or veg and fruit. I really need to include more fresh food in my food plan and was thinking this might be a good way to get started. I was thinking that I might include veg and fruit in the one pound though. If it is cut up, ready to go there is no excuse not to eat it.
Everyone take care, Sue in WA6 -
Sue - Yes, Penny did that, and KJ for a while. Where are you KJ? We miss you!
Woke up v early, so did my hip and glute exercises. Then I still couldn't sleep, so decided to write. Managed about 400 words, so a very good morning.
That frees up my morning to go to M&S. Looking for warm and comfy leisure trousers. Like Lisa's and Mo's. As my size has changed a lot, I really need to try them on. I will also buy some 'treat' food for our anniversary coming up. Fillet steak? Dover Sole?
I will have my egg and cress sandwich and Earl Grey tea. All part of the ritual.
Window cleaner and normal cleaner today! Next door are having their gutters cleaned.
Love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx5 -

Welcome @Latitude27N Diana on Padre Island, Coastal Tx!
Mo I woke up wondering if that woman who sold her daughter, had been sold by HER mother. SMH at that church lady, unclear on the concept imho.
Lisa Egg’s paw prints on your work table, look like a fabric pattern.
Lanette take me back to XP with you!!!
Rita Ranger and Supervisor are two different men? Ranger has a rotating term but you’re stuck with the Supervisor until he quits or gets fired? Hope there are some appealing options if you want to leave this winter. ((hugs))
Machka that tinnitus video made my teeth ache
Barbie that blanket, colors and pattern.
Tracey likewise :love; your lit holiday houses, especially the blue one with snowfolk.
Thought of Tracey and Lisa at the holiday bazaar Saturday. The creativity and sheer volume amazed me. Being mindful of decluttering, I only bought two packs of note cards from the tatting gal, and some consumables most of which I gave to Joe. Why the tatted cards? Tatting supplies are some of those things I hang on to that “I might do that someday.” Will get them out this winter and either try again, or donate, or at least that’s the plan . . .
Gratitudes:
Sunday-Heavy rain held off til after I got home from Gold Beach and walked the dogs down to the powerline. Time to dig out the raingear.
Saturday-Mooch and Shadow stopped barking and came when I called. Tumble is still a work in progress, she keeps to her own pace ;}
Mr. Clean Magic Eraser cleaned the contacts so Roomba could charge, also wiped out the foot prints from the wii ;}
No Decluttering progress to report.
Later, lighter, lovelies!

It's like heaven for me! My tinnitus is like the crickets in the background only high pitched like the beeps, and it seems to be getting louder. Constant, never-ending, high pitched crickets.
So to hear something similar but different made my tinnitus almost disappear while I am listening to it, and when I stop listening to it, my tinnitus is quieter for a while. I was almost in tears of joy when I played it the first time!!

Diana, welcome! Good luck with trying to up your protein. I aim for 120 g a day and hit it most days, but I do use protein powder to help me get there - either in a smoothie, a protein coffee, or stirred into plain greek yogurt. Other things that are good to have on hand - already prepared chicken, tuna or salmon in the easy to use packets, cottage cheese, eggs, turkey sausage or pepperoni, meat sticks, cheese sticks. If you aren’t worried about white flour, mixing equal parts of self-rising flour with greek yogurt makes a good dough for bagels or biscuits - plain is more versatile but you can use flavored for variety. A good test for whether something is a good protein choice is to multiply the grams of protein by 10 and compare it to the calorie count. It is excellent when the calorie count is less than the protein times ten.
Mo, I want to hear more about the requirement to wear a specific color to church. We tend to wear red at my church on Pentecost Sunday and people often dress in patriotic colors on holidays like Memorial day, Veteran’s Day, and 4th of July, but nobody is required to do it. Do you sing in the choir? The choir tends to dress alike for special occasions, but it’s usually a common color that everybody has. And I thought the whole point of VBS was to attract kids that aren’t normally there. When my kids were little, they and their friends attended each others’ VBS all summer long. It wasn’t unusual for them to go to 3 or 4 different ones.5 -
Barbie - what a neat blanket! Is that a seed stitch? Some lucky person will treasure it and appreciate its warmth.
Mo - thank you for posting the Lands End pants info. They really do look comfy and I really like the style. How are they around the waist? I still deal with a painful scar from belly button hernia surgery so tend to avoid anything tight around the waist. Hence my fondness for men's sweats I guess.
Tracey - you keep outdoing yourself with those gorgeous winter houses and the lights. Such talent!
Ginny - is that roast beef Kevin's brand by any chance? Safeway out here (which might be Albertson's elsewhere) now carries a lot of Kevin's products. They seem to be on the spendier side but what isn't these days. Supposed to be more natural with wholesome ingredients and not so many additives and preservatives.
Diana - welcome. The 7 Day Protein Plan sounds interesting! There are several of us here who are going for higher protein and lower carbs. I came in at 120 gm of protein yesterday. I ate eggs, Ezekiel bread, cottage cheese, beans, glass of milk (I have no problem with diary), beef stew with a few low carb veggies (heavy on the beef), plenty of above ground veggies like broccoli and a huge salad, some rotisserie chicken and a lot of nuts - different kinds. The higher protein certainly is satisfying and has cut my desire for sugar way back. Many folks here do well with low-fat, but I don't concern myself with it anymore. The fat in nuts, by the way, has been shown to pass through the digestive tract with up to 40% of it excreted and not absorbed by the body - it's trapped in fiber. That's per research done by Zoe. Good news for a nut nut like me.
Love the Dog-N-Suds Day and the fact the rescue enjoys it too. You've probably noticed we are animal lovers here too.
Lisa - smart thinking getting that big batch of cookie dough prepared and stuck in the freezer. All the hard work is done at once. How's your BFF doing with her father's diminishing health? I recall she was facing some challenges getting situated back near him and becoming a care-giver?
Ladies, I now have the carcasses of 2 chickens in the freezer and want to make chicken bone broth in the crockpot. Do any of you have favorite recipes? Seems I read to add water and some veggies like celery and onions, a little acid such as lemon juice, seasonings and let it cook on low for 24 hours. Then strain and voila. Any of you have favorite recipes? TIA.
Have a super week!

Good morning beautiful ladies!
Diana in Texas welcome!
Barbie I love that blanket! Such tiny stitches!
Well I got ahead of myself with my gut recovery. I need more patience. I'm still in the no fiber phase so no fruits or vegetables.
We have rain here today. Good thing because the yard was getting dusty.
I have a very busy week ahead, appointments every day. Hope it all goes smoothly.
Have a marvelous day! May you all be happy, healthy, safe and free!
Annie in Delaware3 -
Thanks to all who I have inspired ;0) !
Welcome new peeps

Annie - I'm sorry your gut is still sideways... one of the things I've been told over the years during far too many surgeries in the region between my belly button and breastbone was that it takes six weeks for any internal wound to heal. I know diverticulitis isn't a wound, but it is internal, and it may be that healing takes the same amount of time. I know that anything they've given me medication-wise also takes a long time to take hold in my gut. I'm sorry... I know how hard it is when your gut isn't acting right.
Barbie - Love the color and stitching in your blanket. Some little boy or girl will love having that wrapped around them...
Tracey - They just get better and better, your houses. So charming! I get the objection to arguments and mess. I decided that after it took at least a half dozen asks before I could get Corey to cut my rounds for me that there would be no more tasks where I had to ask him for help. If I can't do it, then it won't get done. Not worth it.
Lanette - My best friend was able to get a week to go to her own home while the older sister stayed with their dad. Unexpected, but basically, my friend laid into her and told her that it was her responsibility too, and that she had to have a break after more than a month with him. Well, two of those days, the sister had appointments, and their dad fell both times while she was gone. This week, my friend's back at the house with him, taking him to VA appointments to see if they can get home health for him. If so, that will be a few hours each day where someone checks in on him, makes sure he's OK, etc., and will allow him to stay in his own house longer.
I don't think I ever mentioned that when my friend sold her house a couple years back, they built a small cabin for themselves next to her mother-in-law's house, as the MIL is in her mid-90s, with heart issues... They're caught between rocks and a couple of hard places. Literally. The MIL lives about an hour and a half and a couple mountain passes away from her dad, and winter is already set in there. I see no happy endings, just worry no matter where they are and heartache at the end. I talk to her frequently. Thanks for asking, and thanks for the comment on the paintings!
Veterans Day here in the U.S., Remembrance Day across the various ponds. Thanks for posting that poem, Machka. As sad as it is, I've always loved it. Our Memorial Day is the end of May each year. This day is for our veterans, past and present. I'm celebrating it like I do most days, by staying home! 😸🥳😛 Few businesses are closed, just all the government offices.
So pleased with how the latest bag is coming together... Used one of the paintings that I wasn't terribly pleased with as a test case. Finished the piecing yesterday, want to quilt it today, and possibly get it put together.
Got to get my Monday morning chores done, get my meds put together. Put in a small Walmart order for delivery, and I've got borax coming in. Tracey - This is for you. I picked up five fake poinsettia flower bunches to try out this borax craft.
https://youtu.be/Oi3XLY_1_gA?t=368
No idea if it will work, but if it does, I think they'll be lovely, very little effort and highly sellable. Spent a total of $18 for the flowers and the borax, so if I sell two bunches, I'll get my materials paid. If the other three don't sell, I'll send them to my daughter in Hawaii. She'll love them.
Later, babies,

Good morning! I took a couple days off of sharing with y'all and weighing and measuring and of course this week shows a small gain. Back to work and learning to be the disciplined healthy lady I know I can be with Jesus help. Sleep study is actually tonight. I got confused last week and thought it was a different day but I am waiting to see if I have sleep apnea. I'm not even sure why I'm doing this. I'm losing insurance at the end of the year and I had hoped apnea would qualify me for bariatric surgery through my insurance but my insurance said they won't cover it either way so I'm dropping them. It's risky but I will spend a year saving up on my husband's HSA instead and hopefully have money saved and weight loss already achieved by next year. Thanks everyone and thanks especially to our Veterans today! Hugs all!6

Today is: A good day to try doing Origami again. I have a kit with patterns and directions.
Ps…. this Carnival is a German celebration. I had to look it up because the only Carnival I know of happens before the Christian beginning of Lent - the 40 day pre-cursor to Easter. https://thefrankfurtedit.com/german-carnival-fastnacht-all-you-need-to-know/

Vicki - so glad you popped in! I can't remember if I suggested checking with AAA (Area Agency on Aging) in your area, they might have some ideas.
Also, you might want to check with an employment agency that hires temps if you haven't already. Sometimes businesses are looking for someone for a few months to fill in for an employee on maternity leave, for example. And often, if the business likes the temp they find a permanent position for that person.
These temp positions usually don't have any benefits and the pay isn't great, but are a good way to keep skills up and get some new ones and put feelers out.
Good luck - keeping you in my thoughts!

MFP Weekly Check-In for November 11, 2024
Rita in Roswell, NM - Up .3 of a pound this week. My mind and mood just haven’t been in the right place lately. With time, I’ll get back to it.
Sue in WA State - Weight is the same as last week. Did well on exercise. Added another chair yoga on Wednesday. That makes 4 days per week at the YM. Missing time to myself. I really am an introvert but this is good for my body and I need to be kind to myself. Hard to rein in the sugar with holidays coming up.
Barbara on the Southern Oregon Coast - WT Sunday down a smidge to 130.3. Weekly average up a smidge to 130.6. Will post sugar, CI<CO, AF at month's end. Weekly average steps 8016 thanks to a long stroll chat and a lot of shopping Continued twice weekly BB&B and dog groups, three times weekly line dancing. PT & Zumba not yet.
Lanette in SW WA State- weight holding steady at 158.5. Still walking with weights 10 to 15 minutes 2 or 3 times a day after meals. Broken record here. Average steps 7366 per day.

This is a close up of the blanket pattern. It is called trinity stitch and is really easy. I added a seed stitch border and twists at each end of each row.

Lanette - The YM in Monroe is about 10 minutes from me if there are no trains at the time I am going. The YM in Mill Creek is about 20 minutes away. I don't use it often. We had 40 people in chair yoga today.
I have been to chair yoga this morning and fed the critters. Need to do some washing of things in the cabin. The toxic tenant left a huge mess and we have cleaned up a lot of it but more needs doing as nieces are coming Nov 23 to help out their mom, my sister, who has moved up here. They do not want to stay with her and DGS and his partner are using the guest room. Went to Walmart to replace towels and bedding that was either destroyed or taken.
Tracy - the little houses you are making are lovely.
Everyone take care, Sue in WA6
