Fitbit steps duplicating from yesterday
Answers

Hi, for the last couple of days all I see are the number of steps from the day before with zero calories. I am having to delete and manually make an entry.1
-
I'm also still having this issue. Unfortunately, it renders the sync between my FitBit and MFP unusable. I hope it's fixed soon.2
-
Same here. iPhone 15 with a Fitbit versa 3?! Not sure which versa to be honest but was working fine until yesterday.
Really annoying when it does this and there’s no support post to explain and say when it’ll be fixed.
Really getting fed up with MFP now and certainly won’t be paying for premium again.1 -
Yeah, this is happening for me too, and unpairing then reconnecting did nothing for me. I wouldn't be surprised if this is yet another problem on Fitbit's end. No updates from 'em so far, but I'd suggest keeping an eye on https://status.fitbit.com/summary
If it is Fitbit's problem, well I'm just going to go back to manual estimates because it took them over a week to fix the last big issue.2 -
Me too. Makes me think it is a MFP app issue.0
-
So it's not just me. Perhaps an insight, I checked MFP after waking up this morning and it showed 0 steps for the day (phone is in a different room at night than the watch)
After it connected and synced up, it showed yesterday's steps duplicated once more for today. Duped again!!
Anyone know how to contact MFP developers? This issue defeats the whole purpose of me having the app and wearing a step tracker0 -
Mine is working fine today. The whole thing is still so weird.0

As you can see at the top of the topic, someone working for MFP has responded: they are aware of the issue and working on a fix:Hi all, confirming the issue is on our radar and people are looking into it. Thanks for reporting and for your patience.1 -

Sounds great. Thanks for pointing that out--their response showed up out of order in the conversation so I didn't see it.0 -

Yup, that's the annoying thing of this format of topic, the 'answers" get pinned at the top (where very few people see them).0 -
I'm relieved to see it's not just me and my Fitbit/pixel watch. The issue seems to happen on and off (sounds like if I don't exceed yesterday's step count it duplicates?). So frustrating as it means the exercise isn't being tracked nor the calories burned.0
-
Mine is working now…thank goodness!1
-
Mine was duplicated from yesterday as well. I hope this gets fixed soon or just starts working again tomorrow, I don't want to go back to putting in exercises manually...0
-
And it's back to not working. Ugh. They just sent an update for the app too. It worked for me yesterday...0

It says it is calculating the adjustment based on activity through 12:44 AM and deducts calorie (as if I get a lot of exercise in between midnight and 12:44 am!). So at this point I'm totally unable to determine how many additional calories I get from the exercise using MFP. Using the fitbit app for this now because it correctly gets calories from MFP and gives me some reading of where I stand.1
-
I am also having this issue, hopefully it will be fixed soon. At least I know its not just me.0
-
My problem is same as others with step carryover, not updating steps until some random time during the day (only occasionally), calorie adjustment not correct, etc. Fitbit and Fitbit app working correctly. Both the wife and I are premium members. Based on the comments it looks like the problem started 11/9. We'll give them a week or so to fix this issue then we are moving on to a different fitness app. There are others that do the same thing.1

Where did it say that? I've read there is a 15 minute delay in syncing, 44 + 15 = 12:59am, could that mean it is related to the daylight savings time change? It seems like it started around then. I might change the time zone and see what happens0 -
Me too, I've uninstalled and reinstalled Fitbit Charge 4 and myfitnesspal apps, disconnected them, and restarted my phone, all to no avail. It is repeating the day before's step count and messing up my calories burned amount, so it's messing with my overall calories for the day as well. Please get this fixed. This is on MFP's end. Fitbit is fine. Thank you,1
-
Well, now it didn't even update after I passed yesterday's step count. Fix this MFP!1
-
Seemed to have worked today. But no correction to past days’ errors. Maybe it won’t work again tomorrow. Who knows 🤦🏻♂️0
-
The problem occurred again today, just like the last couple of days. It's not fixed yet...1
-
Same issue here as of today, showing yesterdays step count and 0 calories burned. Any news on a fix?0
-
I changed the time zone of MFP from Eastern (GMT-5) to Atlantic (GMT-4) last night and this morning it did not duplicate yesterday's steps. The problem now is that it takes an hour for steps from the fitbit to show up in MFP. Thinking it's a DST issue0

Still not working, very annoying0

This is getting so annoying. No update at all?0

Just going to drop some additional data points in here in case it's of any use. Support didn't express any interest in learning more.
- Issue started 11/8.
- Activity syncs only once shortly after 12am Central, no calorie projection changes after that.
- Steps sometimes get copied from the previous day, but not every time. The amount has always been 10k+ for me.
- Things worked randomly for me on 11/9 and 11/12. Those were both days that I did a lot of cardio and my step count was higher than the previous day. It almost seems like no activity syncing occurs until you break the step count of the previous day. It's also worth noting that these two days are also the days where the exact same step count showed up the next day.
- Weight is syncing fine from Fitbit.

Hi all, confirming the issue is on our radar and people are looking into it. Thanks for reporting and for your patience.
@durden what's the situation? I can't seem to find this issue in the list of known issues:
https://support.myfitnesspal.com/hc/en-us/articles/360032625231-Known-Issues-Integration-Partners1 -
For me, in England (GMT+0), this issue started on the 9th Nov, it then began working again for the 11th and 12th. Today, it has decided to duplicate again.
Strangely, if I click/tap on the "Fitbit Calorie Adjustment" in the Exercise section in my food diary for the days where the steps correctly updated, the "Exercise start time" continues to update to the time of the last sync with Fitbit. So, this implies that data sync is still working, at least partially, between the two servers. It just seems to get blocked on random days.
Is there a software bug causing this? Is it due to server problems? It'd at least be nice to know that either MFP or Fitbit are aware of the problem and are looking into it.0
