Machka - Can anything be done for the Tinnitus?
    That sounds awful.

Machka - I knew the bees were responsible for a lot, but not as much as you wrote about. Thank you.

    Tracey in Edmonton

The only thing that's been suggested is listening to videos like the ones I posted.
I also have the Relief app on my phone: https://www.resound.com/en-au/hearing-aids/apps/relief

    They do help somewhat.

I'm going deaf and evidently my tinnitus is a very common precursor to this type of deafness. Eventually, I will need a hearing aid which might help the tinnitus.

    Bees are really amazing!

The queen is the only one who mates and is the only one who lays eggs.

Drones are the males. They can't sting because they have round fuzzy butts without stingers. One drone mates with the queen, the rest just hang about and watch TV.

The rest are females who have all sorts of different jobs - nurses, cleaners, undertakers, builders, fanners, foragers, scouts, guards.

When we're working with the hive, the guard bees will come out and ask us to state our business. How dare we remove their roof! We move very slowly and talk quietly, and they're usually reasonably calm. I also sing a bee version of the song "Soft Kitty" I've made up, and they seem OK with that.

When I'm working in the garden and am between a forager and a flower, she'll fly in a circle in front of my face to let me know I'm in the way. I'll apologise and move over a bit.

    Thursday --

Had 2 wins with my SQL code. I'm venturing into much more complicated code and it's a bit of trial and error, and googling, and if nothing seems to work, then I ask someone. One bit of code, I got about 90% of it and finally asked someone about the last little bit. I did the other bit of code entirely myself.

I've also attended lots of webinars in the last couple days on Clinical Costing, Aged Care, and Digital Technology ... more learning at work, and all stuff that's good to know for my job.

I also did up a document with a list of suggestions for improvements to one of the main Aged Care sites in Australia. They said I could, so I did! They thanked me for the suggestions and said they've been sent to the design team. We'll see what happens. I'm not holding my breath.

I walked a little over 1 km today and climbed 21 flights of 20 stairs (420 stairs).

Then when I got home, I went for a bicycle ride.
    rzsiemn31kqr.png

And I've been unpacking and decluttering.

I got rid of most of my makeup this evening. I went through my makeup and got rid of most of it in 2020. Since then, I've rarely worn any of it and it's aged another 4 years so I figured it's time for it to go.

I wear foundation, so I kept that.
And I still have a few lip glosses that are OK.
I actually use those up and get new ones.
But that's about all that's left.

I was kind of debating if I'd buy some new eye makeup or something, but I think the last time I wore eye makeup was August 2023, so I don't think it's worth it.

    Morning, my chickens,

Corey convinced me last night to take all the handbags I've made so far to this craft fair. I wasn't going to, in all honesty, but I genuinely don't know why I wasn't going to! Scared to put the work that matters to me in front of people? I dunno. I am a mystery wrapped in an enigma, me.

A chatty one, but still. 👀🤷🏻‍♀️😛

Carol - Getting away from watching or reading the news has very little to do with politics and other people's views, on here or elsewhere. Cross my heart. It's the constant panic levels the media try to instill in order to get people to read. Don't forget, I was a newspaper editor for years. Those "breaking news" headlines that Rosemarie mentioned are what gets people to read (I'm no exception), and I literally feel my blood pressure going up just reading the headlines now. I consider it part of "the things I cannot change," and the only thing I CAN change is me, by deciding just to not read or watch them.

When it gets to me, I just pet Egg some more. It's dropped down a few degrees above freezing, and this is where she insisted on being. Life is just so hard when you're a cat. When I get too het about the whole thing, I try to emulate her actions. She doesn't watch the news, either. 😹😍😂
    3mwfefnba3cw.png
Tracey - Hope everything works out okay and you get your issue taken care of with the least possible stress.

We have the big red wasps here, too , and they scare the living caca out of me. One of the few things besides a snake that will send me running. Got hit by one on the arm last summer, and still have the scar. Hurt like stink, too. Poisonous little creatures. I enjoy the bees, and they really love it when I let the herbs like the basil get all the way to flower stage, they hang out there a lot. Wasps are non grata.

Time to get moving and get a few things done. Plan to do the floors next week in preparation for having people here for Thanksgiving, so am resolutely ignoring them this week. Hope everyone has a great day.

    Love,

Allie, I saw those Tonie boxes in a commercial. I was thinking about getting one or two and sending it to my little niece(she is my second cousin). I may donate some to the Hospital for the kids. Thanks for sharing, Miles and Delia; they make me smile.

Pip, I love the quilt, and I thought that was a wonderful gift. Does that mean you have to share it with Kirby, too? BTW, you look so young for 65. I can see how that group was shocked by your age.

Machka, even though I am afraid of bees, I have a great deal of respect for them, and I will never kill one. What about wasps? I am fearful of them. We have the giant red wasp here in MS. I kill them if they are in my house.
I got my exercise in with step aerobics and sorted things with DS. I will move money around to get his ticket to come home on the 20th and pay to have his stuff stored in NY before he goes. I should have done my laundry like Lisa. I worked on earrings today and got some decluttering done in my closet. I will do the laundry tomorrow. I also worked on the kitchen cabinet. I have so much to do. An influencer gave me a travel backpack code, and I would order it. Then I saw the price. $169.00! I went to the backpack I wanted on Amazon, which was on sale for 25.00. It is TSA-approved and roomy. The other one was not cute at all. I need to get some trainers next. I watched some True Crime with Kendall Rae as well.
    I am going to bed.
    Later gators.

Thanks for the compliment, that was sweet of you to say. Yup, I have to share with kirby too, bummer.

    Good morning ladies!

Luckily, no storm damage or power outage yesterday in my neighborhood, but the hens are miffed that they weren't able to take their long walks in the back yard due to rain most of the day. Madder than a wet hen and all that. :p

I'm having lunch with M today at our favorite restaurant. <3 Looking forward to hearing what's new in her world. If I have time, I want to start Christmas shopping - meaning picking up some gift cards at various places around town. I'd like to get that all finished by the end of this month.

I haven't been a fan of the network news for years. It's repetitive and full of annoying commercials. I have a couple online sources that I check to keep up with the latest but when the conjecture and negativity starts, I'm done. When it triggers worry and fear and anger, what's the point? Whatever the situation, I just pray for the best for all concerned and let it go and head out to pet the hens. :p Much more rewarding and better for my mental health. Lisa - I see we're on the same page. ;) Petting Egg has many benefits too!

    Make it a wonderful day!

I am blessed to be able to hear my dad's voice when ever I want because a few years back, a reporter did an interview with mom and dad about their life/gardening/etc. It is so great to be able to both see and hear him again. The video of it is on YouTube

Oh that is so cool! I am happy you have that!

Heather - I hope you find the trousers that you’re looking for. I find clothes styles so difficult these days.
Mostly because of my size I think.

Machka - Can anything be done for the Tinnitus?
    That sounds awful.

Rebecca - I love dreams like that too. I just wish they would last longer. I could use some of their wisdom right about now.

Allie - those grands sure are cute.

I have been burying my head and avoiding an issue that I know I have to take care of. I made a call last week to start taking care of it and today I spent almost all day working on gathering information for a meeting on Wednesday.

Michele - love your mushroom and Vince’s car.

    Heather - Happy Anniversary!!!!

Carol - they are battery operated lights I found at Dollar Tree, only 10 lights per string so the batteries last a fair amount of time.

Machka - I knew the bees were responsible for a lot, but not as much as you wrote about. Thank you.

Lisa - I am very thankful we aren’t allowed to have news stories on FB in Canada. It sure made it less stressful for me. I too listen to music more than anything during the touch times.

I’ve been reading along for days and making random notes but then not posting them.

Been busy painting each evening. Tonight I have ceramics and tomorrow night I need to do some cleaning. I have a long weekend this weekend because I’m going to Kaitlyn’s to decorate for Christmas. I’m looking forward to it.

I have noticed any dreams with family that have passed, well they just show up, are present in the dream, but don't really give me any wisdom, or important things like "look under your doormat for the key to the safe with the million dollars". But they do give me peace, and that's probably more important than the key anyways.🤗💖

Generally, bees will leave you alone if you leave them alone ... and if you don't get between them and flowers. :)

Wasps are another story. A few wasp species can be pollinators too, but most aren't. They will drink the nectar of flowers, but they'll also often attack other insects (including bees), spiders and so on. And they'll attack us as well.

On the top of the RV there is a small gutter to let the water run off. Well in the summer, we have the air conditioner running and that gutter fills with water. We have a large amount of bees that gather at that trough and drink. DH calls it the ‘Bee Bar’ lol 😁 We leave them alone. DH checked the top of the RV to make sure their nest was not there first. A camper this past summer was worried about the same thing happening at his RV. I told him they don’t attack, they only want water. We are in a desert so any water is precious. The only worry about these I have is DH is allergic to Wasps bites. When we were living in CT, he went to the hospital twice for wasp bites that gave him instant hives and his through closed up. He has to carry an epi pen for that reason. The only time we kill either wasps or bees here in NM, is when they come in the camper. I tend to shoo them out the door, DH panics.

Walked 3 miles yesterday with 10 minutes of yoga, 5 to warm up and 5 to cool down from the walk. Also did 10 minutes of a sitting meditation. Feels good to get back to doing that!. Today, need to go to town for some groceries so not sure about the walk. Yesterday, I stepped in a hole and landed on the ground. Luckily, no scrapes or bruises. First time in a couple years I’ve fallen. I did have my back brace on which I think helped with my lack of injury.

Do any of you have favorite shows or movies you watch during this Thanksgiving season? It’s hard to find any good ones. DH won’t watch Drama’s or Romances.

Got potatoes baking in the oven. I can smell them! :D Having them with chilli, crême fraiche, and a salad type salsa with avocado. Also green beans. Yum.
John is a very slow eater, partly because his teeth aren't good, he has a plate, but he's always been like that. Yesterday, he had to leave a tiny bit of his dinner because the taxi was outside. I had finished mine at least ten minutes before. The grandchildren think it's hilarious. Tonight I'm serving dinner in good time so he can finish it before my son picks us up.
We are going over there because it's Max's Parents' Evening, when they will get a report on his progress. I can't imagine it will be anything other than brilliant! :p I'm looking forward to seeing them all, and want to discuss Christmas presents with DDIL. We only buy for the children, but I may give a little foodie gift to them for hosting. I'm hoping that one of the kids would like money!

Well, the BK big wig came yesterday. Yes! That most likely means that I don’t have to work next Wed. Yippee! I can get to the gym.

I’ll probably do a spinning workout since most likely that won’t make my heel hurt more

Made another apple pie. This time I used the pie enhancer. Just not sure that the apples were the honeycrisps but I think the pie enhancer will work if these weren’t honeycrisps

Did go to bowling last night, but I probably shouldn’t have bowled. Didn’t do well at all.

Raining right now. In a few I need to go to the neurologist’s office for my annual visit. I was planning to go to the Salvation Army to make a donation since I never know when I’ll be able to get there so I guess I’ll go, even in the rain

We had a lot of wasps living behind one of our retaining walls. I’ve sometimes used the Wasp and Hornet killer, but ever since we put up a WHY (wasp, hornet and yellowjacket) trap and used apple juice as the attractant, there have been very very few

Rita – so sorry for the fall. Glad there weren’t any injuries

Need to get ready to go. After the MD, I’ll make the donation and, of course, stop in the store.

Greetings, Meg! Glad you could make it over to us. :)<3
Sorry to hear about your husband. My friend has stage 4 lung cancer, but has been doing well with immuno therapy.
I hope they can zap it early.

Edie has been talking all evening about mathematics. Great fun. We have been looking at the concept of Pi. Bea was making her Christmas list. Now they are both in bed. Max went with his parents for the feedback.
I got a message at the last minute from my son to say he was coming at 6.10. We had agreed on 6.30. :# Poor John had to bolt his food again! Second night running. I have never known such a slow eater.

Rita - great to see you smiling at us! I love seeing pictures of people. <3

I hope my son etc will return soon.

Meg-I don't believe you for being upset-that is quite a difference in diagnosis. I do remember years ago they thought my mom had lung cancer. After a bit of time they determined it was a very virulent form of pneumonia going around at the time. Evidently it packed into the lungs tightly. It did get her to quit smoking! Hope his treatment goes well-they have made such advances.

Allie-I have bought my children things like.stove or washer for Christmas.

Regarding news-I do tend to fall into Lisa and Lanette's camp. Watching too much is just not good for me-and I can yell at both sides! So-I skimmed some headlines, try to think in terms of the opposite views, and move on.

Haven't received PET scan results yet. Hope they go on line tomorrow. Reading them won't tell me what we may or may not do, but will get me some idea about stability. Of course, I am still getting a CT scan on Saturday.

Rainy here this evening. Going to get an indoor walk in so I have some movement. Work from home day tomorrow!

    Take care all,

Had to put the rain coat on to walk the wetlands today. Wasn't raining hard so went ahead and walked. Only a couple other people out walking and that was just at the beginning. Over 3/4 of the walk I was the only one around that I could see.

Meg: I am sorry to learn of your DH's diagnosis. I hope his treatment goes well.

I know it can be hard to respond to the situation with the NP and not cause the doctor's office to become defensive and and maybe even drop you. Have you considered trying to speak with the Director of the clinic to ask if this mistake would have been caught at another juncture in the workings of the clinic. And pointing out that a secondary check of the pathology reports might be indicated.

Did she call you the first time without bothering to read the pathology report. Did she say it was benign without looking it up? It is a very sensitive situation, especially if you want to stay with the clinic. Probably need to adopt a very professional, business like demeanor, have the discussion with someone, hope for a professional discussion back and then drop it and hope for the best.

    That is my 2 cents!

Meg- so glad to see you again! How horrible for your dh. Good thing you were there! I don’t blame you one tiny bit for being upset

Debbie – if it weren’t for this heel, I would have walked, too. Even tho it’s cold out and rainy, I would have taken an umbrella and put on a heavy coat. But, alas, I didn’t today.

The good news is that they have some sort of big group at the soup kitchen so they asked the regular volunteers not to come in. I’ll probably stop by, tho, since they use the tomato boxes that I get at BK. They’re nice boxes, double walled, have a lid and handles, and they stack. I usually get about one/day, so I’ll take a few to them since I won’t be there again until next Friday. BK usually just throws them away.

Well, going to take a shower and then get in bed so I can rest my heel. I’ve been using the foam roller on it, but Vince says that using a ball is better. I really don’t see how.

my dh was just talking about this but in regards to to home owners insurance. His mom just got her new policy and it went from $1100 a year to $2700 a year. He talked to the agent we go through(not the same company as his mom), just to see if this was normal to jump that much when they say they can only go up like 32% in a year. She said it is AND to not really question the company because if he talks to them with an attitude(which he almost always does , you know, because he is always right) they can find a reason, how ever small, and drop her and if she looks around, no other company will take her. It is so hard for him to hold his tongue.

Done my writing. A short one, just over 300 words, but I was finishing a chapter on Luck.
I have to do some research over the weekend for the next chapter, about the 'bottleneck' in the history of homo sapiens. Just need to confirm data.

Edie said yesterday, 'Guess what I bought from Amazon'. :o It was a huge weighted blanket! Weighs over 12 lbs. Apparently her mum suggested it because she has not been sleeping well with tummy aches and her mind racing. She brought it down and I tried it over me.
I think some of you have these. How have you found them? I told her they use them on anxious dogs!

Going to go up to the pharmacy today to pick up BP prescriptions. Prescriptions are free for pensioners. :D I will probably buy some fresh flowers from the next door flower shop, and maybe a bottle of Brittany cider from the wine merchant, to go with our black pudding, mashed cauliflower, and fried apples, tonight. Fried apples are a Brittany thing, (a distinctive region in North west France). Also Normandy, which also produces cider. I have to really limit my alcohol now, and drink a lot of fizzy water with it, because of my cystitis tendency. That's a good thing, I guess. ;)

Hove was recently voted the happiest place in Brighton, and the second happiest in the south east of England. :p
