π· 66 yrs young F, 5ft 4 Round 278 (my 208th). So grateful as always @Quiltingjaine for another round.
This round want to stay strong & make the round a successful one.
Goals for this round carried over from last;
β’ First and foremost, no feeding frenzies
β’ to weigh less at the end of the round than the start
β’ be happy because I feel that I have made the round count at the end
I need to remain consistent - it does work! Good luck for success everyone.Achieved goal weigh of 125lb in summer 2016 by losing 66lb and then gradually gained between 7 and 11 since then & didn't want to gain any more, itβs taken me 75 rounds to achieve target of 130 = back to maintenance!! But then I crept up again, so need to get back to around 134. A healthy lifestyle must be a permanent way of life.***
Updated 20.08.24 β I met up with youngest DB, first time after his DP passed away at the way too early age of 46. DB lives a long way from us, we see him very infrequently & is very introvert, so not a sharer of info π. However, he finally opened up to me, it seems that his DPs bad health leading to heart failure followed by kidney, liver failure & then a massive stroke, was originally caused by heavy drinking. By the time he realised he was abusing his body and went teetotal, the damage was too late to reverse. He was on the list for a heart transplant, but his other organs gave up before one became available.
This has made me think about how I am abusing my body when I have binges with way too much sugar, fat & salt. I know I am a food addict. I'm going to try to think about this when I am tempted to overindulge, I need to start respecting my body more and think about whether I want to be in the best health I can be. My body has served me so well for 66 years, it deserves to be given the best chance to keep serving me well & I've been really lucky that life has not dealt me a raw health deal, so I must not jeopardize that luck.

Fell off the challenge bandwagon in round 256, managed to keep losing weight until June 12th when I hit 155.9 (70.7 kg). I fell off the weight loss wagon shortly after. Decided yesterday to start back up and it was perfect timing with a new round starting today.
11/12- 166 (75.3 kg) Stayed within my goals today. Off to a good start.
11/13- 163.8 (74.3 kg) Water weight whoosh. If I end the round at this weight or close to it, I will be quite pleased.
11/14-162.8 (73.8 kg) Okay, we'll see how turkey tacos I had for dinner tonight affect this tomorrow. And debating BLTs for dinner tomorrow.
11/15- 163.2 (74 kg) I typically don't feel bloated in my day to day, but today I do. My pants feel tight, my bra is bothering me. And I did make BLTs tonight. Curious to see if I'll see more of a jump up on the scale in the next couple days or what. But so far 5 days of staying on track with my goals. I do think I need to drink more water, so I'm going to be mindful of that.
11/16- 162.4 (73.7 kg) I woke up feeling rested this morning for the first time in a while, so instead of sleeping in, I joined my husband and the dog on their morning walk. Then we had a relaxing day at home and went on a second walk this afternoon. It was a good Saturday.

11/12 157.2 I spent the last 5 days at Universal Studios with my DD and DGD. Got in lots and lots of walking but nutrition was less than stellar. But Iβm back and ready to get ready for the holidays!

If I could sign a deal to stay easily at 132 for life, forsaking any lower number, I'd think I'd do it. But, that's not the way it works, is it? 11/17: not so bad. considering my slight meltdown in patience. The last few days have been a "food gauntlet" ; Friday happy hour at my daughter's with many frozen puffed delights, yesterday BFF brought a loaf of insanely good olive bread, garlic butter and chocolate babka from a local bread bakery, and DP made both chicken parm and rice pudding. What's with these people???
My only defense was a taste of each, but I did exercise portion control. I'm up, but it could be worse.
Combatted momentary depression with two really great "hurt foot" workouts on Youtube and ended the day feeling much better. Slept about 10 hours!6 -

While I was working to lose, I carefully logged everything I ate; in maintenance I've gotten away from that and rely on weighing as my main "check". When I see myself drifting up or making poor choices I start logging my food again. It's worked well for me so far. I use the planned meals and foods from when I was losing as a template for what I eat most days so I don't have to think about. The key for me is staying conscious of what I put in my mouth, because my downfall is mindless snacking rather than unhealthy meals. It's easy to distinguish what's unhealthy when I pull out a bag of Tostitos or the tub of M&Ms... so I don't. I treat those things as "allergens"- I have a calorie allergy :-)6 -

@Blueberries59 Logging is perhaps one of the most important things I do when I am having success. I am not having success right now, so what does that tell you.
I log food after I eat it. Pre-logging is hard for me since DW has more info and control than I do about "the future." Portion control is the biggest beneficiary of logging because I can see the direct consequence of that extra (fill in the blank.)5 -

I went back and reviewed last year around Nov-Dec and I definitely averaged 129-130 for two solid months. This is where I want to live!
Last year, I was not lifting as much as I am now but I really want to be βrangingβ at 128-130β¦. NOT 132.0! Am I obsessing over 2-3 little pounds? You betcha. Itβs definitely psychological, and I choose to embrace thatβ¦ And itβs a SERIOUS test if I can do it. I want to live there. Itβs actually my personal BHAG because Iβve NEVER EVER been there (for more than two months). Iβm choosing more discipline. Why do I allow myself to simply touch my goal, be thrilled, only to float back up?! Iβve actually been feeling βless thanβ because Iβm just hovering (but not reaching) a previously declared goal. Itβs negative, really. Hovering, but not reaching, is not a good place to be no matter how I look at it. Itβs hard to describe. Iβm not being hard on myselfβ¦ This is who I am.
Soβ¦ Letβs DO THIS! Over the last 10 years (my π’) I have always lost 10 to 15lbs during the holidays β¦ I canβt imagine (now) a βreasonableβ or βpermissiveβ holiday season. So letβs play it safe.
π£BHAG declared: My FIRST BHAG is to hit 128lbs on this #HSF journey and maintain a β+ or -β 2lb range. Basically lose 4lbs by 1/1/24 which, at my age and metabolic quirks, will be really, really hard to do, if even possible.

I pledge to prioritize each of these #HSF choices EVERY DAY of Nov:
1. P:E: Protein g greater than 1:1 vs. Energy g. [Pg > (Cg+Fg)] (and cals = avg. maintenance).I will continue this nutrition plan. It is supposed to support muscle gain with fat loss while ππΌββοΈπ€ΈπΌββοΈ β±οΈπΎ. I will continue to track NSVs/macros/ activities, etc. to learn about my body.
2. ππππ§ - I will continue to pray, journal, research. This is my aspect of βleveling upβ because I am nothing without my relationship w/Jesus Christ. Iβve also grown into loving/enjoying learning about my body & healthy aging. Replacing BAD habits w/ GOOD habits is a journey in itself. This practice helps me stay present /mindful of many decisions/ thoughts/ actions that impact not only nutrition, but improves self-talk & interactions w/others.
3. ππΌββοΈthis is my biggest challenge. I still donβt like it. Not one bit. I have some days that it clicks, but itβs a daily struggle. Living βfake it till I make itββ¦ Faking my βidentityβ. My hope is that some ποΈββοΈversion eventually becomes a healthy habit. Iβm working on a minimum of 10-minute βππΌββοΈsnacksβ 2-3x per day, 5x per round. Gosh, how I wish someone, ANYONE would have told me in my earlier years that ππΌββοΈis the key to fat-loss / maintaining - NOT cardio. I was brainwashed.
4. Healthy Aging - includes mobility, flexibility, balance and agility. While I do stretch every morning plus βstretch snacksββ¦ I want to up this gameβ¦ I added β±οΈβsprintsβ (which is NOW only fast joggingβ¦ π) and plyometrics (celebrating a 2β vertical jump) π. I read to βsprintβ is vital as we ageβ¦..
5. I have much βworkβ to do with family relationships. Wonβt detail here, but itβs a challenge & my overall health will not flourish without this being acknowledged and improved. Mind, body & spirit are connected. I wonβt be fully content until I reconcile this part of my life.
6. Sleep- This is a big one. Iβm usually fast asleep by 8:30-9PM. I canβt stay up laterβ¦. I love getting up early. Iβm good with a 5AM wake up but I want to sleep soundly through the night. Will continue to prioritize this key component to health and well-beingβ¦
7. Have fun⦠lighten up ⦠& give myself permission to be spontaneous. (This is THE HARDEST)!!!!

I went back and reviewed last year around Nov-Dec and I definitely averaged 129-130 for two solid months. This is where I want to live!
Last year, I was not lifting as much as I am now but I really want to be βrangingβ at 128-130β¦. NOT 132.0! Am I obsessing over 2-3 little pounds? You betcha. Itβs definitely psychological, and I choose to embrace thatβ¦ And itβs a SERIOUS test if I can do it. I want to live there. Itβs actually my personal BHAG because Iβve NEVER EVER been there (for more than two months). Iβm choosing more discipline. Why do I allow myself to simply touch my goal, be thrilled, only to float back up?! Iβve actually been feeling βless thanβ because Iβm just hovering (but not reaching) a previously declared goal. Itβs negative, really. Hovering, but not reaching, is not a good place to be no matter how I look at it. Itβs hard to describe. Iβm not being hard on myselfβ¦ This is who I am.
Soβ¦ Letβs DO THIS! Over the last 10 years (my π’) I have always lost 10 to 15lbs during the holidays β¦ I canβt imagine (now) a βreasonableβ or βpermissiveβ holiday season. So letβs play it safe.
π£BHAG declared: My FIRST BHAG is to hit 128lbs on this #HSF journey and maintain a β+ or -β 2lb range. Basically lose 4lbs by 1/1/24 which, at my age and metabolic quirks, will be really, really hard to do, if even possible.

To log or not to log / & when?
Iβd say Iβve logged 95% of the time since starting this challenge 15+ mos ago. I pre-plan my day while enjoying coffee in the morning. I find that when I have strayed, itβs not snacking, itβs portion control. I have to be VERY careful of portions. I donβt weigh my food as much anymore because Iβve been able to eyeball it. If Iβm trying a new food, I definitely weigh it. I track/log my food 2-3x per day.
I find that staying βcleanβ is the strongest offense and defense! Whole foods are so easy to track/log. I try to stay away from anything that has more than 3 ingredientsβ¦. And no processed / packaged foods.
Pre-logging? Sometimes I do sometimes I donβtβ¦ I find that just βplanning my dayβ helps the most. When I pre-log my protein shake, I forget it later! Perhaps I think to myself, Iβve got the right amount of protein grams today, check, β¦. Then I forget it! Because mentally Iβve already checked it offβ¦. We all have our own peculiar quirks, yes?
What clicked for me yesterday (to recommit) is that Iβve been logging here for so many monthsβ¦ Why be here (JGMTD) without measurable results? I mean, isnβt that the premise of this particular challenge? Being on a βrecomposition sojournβ is difficult to measureβ¦ Itβs all NSVsβ¦. and process. Then βοΈ drifting upβ¦..? I must commit to 10 days of something!!! β¦ (basically π© or get off the pot!). Thatβs what did it for me yesterday! Becauseβ¦. 11/16 -190.4- (Trend weight-191.3-) I ate very light for lunch and dinner yesterday so I could have ice cream with DD, DS and DGS last night. I didnβt want or need to feel denied. I must admit that ice cream is a weak point for me. The only thing more tempting is probably donuts (which I havenβt had in quite some time). I took too much in a bowl out of βold meβ habits and realized that βnew meβ doesnβt really eat that much at one time anymore. But I didnβt realize it until I was finished and my belly felt over full and bloated. So Iβm surprised to see a drop this morning, even with lighter meals. I weighed in about 2 hours later than normal this morning so Iβm not sure if that is why Iβm having a drop. I guess Iβll find out tomorrow. I just hope the ice cream doesnβt show up later, which sometimes happens. Lots of good sleep last night but not enough water yesterday which is probably why I wasnβt up & down all night like usual. Whoever said βyou canβt have it allβ was absolutely right!

Consumed nothing but water yesterday (forgot to make notes yesterday). Today I had some tea with lemon juice. There are studies showing that lemon juice doesnβt break a fast why I add it to tea. It's good for vitamin C and masks the flavor of some herbal teas. If anyone is wondering the hunger went away before I had tea I drink tea regularly for health benefits. I try to drink it daily and missed yesterday.
11/14 COREβ WORKOUT 3/8β Completed 72 hour fast π - AM, drank tea with no lemon. Broke fast after 550PM with high fat meal and protein. This fast went well going to do a 42H Fast instead of 20:3* (Typo in last post). Thanks @quiltingjaine, this challenge is really helping

Fell off the challenge bandwagon in round 256, managed to keep losing weight until June 12th when I hit 155.9 (70.7 kg). I fell off the weight loss wagon shortly after. Decided yesterday to start back up and it was perfect timing with a new round starting today.
11/12- 166 (75.3 kg) Stayed within my goals today. Off to a good start.
11/13- 163.8 (74.3 kg) Water weight whoosh. If I end the round at this weight or close to it, I will be quite pleased.
11/14-162.8 (73.8 kg) Okay, we'll see how turkey tacos I had for dinner tonight affect this tomorrow. And debating BLTs for dinner tomorrow.
11/15- 163.2 (74 kg) I typically don't feel bloated in my day to day, but today I do. My pants feel tight, my bra is bothering me. And I did make BLTs tonight. Curious to see if I'll see more of a jump up on the scale in the next couple days or what. But so far 5 days of staying on track with my goals. I do think I need to drink more water, so I'm going to be mindful of that.
11/16- 162.4 (73.7 kg) I woke up feeling rested this morning for the first time in a while, so instead of sleeping in, I joined my husband and the dog on their morning walk. Then we had a relaxing day at home and went on a second walk this afternoon. It was a good Saturday.
11/17- 162.4 (73.7 kg) I went on two walks again today despite being given the opportunity to bow out. Proud of myself because it was in the upper 30s/lower 40s (~3-6Β°C), very windy and raining, and I do not like being cold and wet. I just bought snow pants a couple weeks ago, and wow does it make a big difference. Way better than just jeans or jeans with leggings underneath. My legs stayed comfortable and warm. I should have spent the money on a pair years ago.

I need to remain consistent - it does work! Good luck for success everyone.Achieved goal weigh of 125lb in summer 2016 by losing 66lb and then gradually gained between 7 and 11 since then & didn't want to gain any more, itβs taken me 75 rounds to achieve target of 130 = back to maintenance!! But then I crept up again, so need to get back to around 134. A healthy lifestyle must be a permanent way of life.***
Updated 20.08.24 β I met up with youngest DB, first time after his DP passed away at the way too early age of 46. DB lives a long way from us, we see him very infrequently & is very introvert, so not a sharer of info π. However, he finally opened up to me, it seems that his DPs bad health leading to heart failure followed by kidney, liver failure & then a massive stroke, was originally caused by heavy drinking. By the time he realised he was abusing his body and went teetotal, the damage was too late to reverse. He was on the list for a heart transplant, but his other organs gave up before one became available.
This has made me think about how I am abusing my body when I have binges with way too much sugar, fat & salt. I know I am a food addict. I'm going to try to think about this when I am tempted to overindulge, I need to start respecting my body more and think about whether I want to be in the best health I can be. My body has served me so well for 66 years, it deserves to be given the best chance to keep serving me well & I've been really lucky that life has not dealt me a raw health deal, so I must not jeopardize that luck.

11/18- 171.6 Why do I feel like every day I do my best should have the reward of a lower number? I know it doesnβt work that way. It takes consistency over time to make progress.
Keeping my focus when the scale isnβt rewarding me is hard.
Iβm also adjusting to my off season calories. I gotta say- it SUCKS!!!!! I think this was part of the October problem and I know itβs the root of my gain over the last few years.
Iβm so grateful for JGMTD. My daily weigh in and reflection forced me to see the pivot point.

I joined this group in Rnd 245 on Dec 18 2023, when I realized I was eating my way through the holidays; I finally got on the scale and was hovering just under 150 lbs. It took about 4 months to reach my goal weight of 125. Sounds great, but Iβve done this before, which is why Iβm still here.
Itβs not just about losing, itβs about changing the habits of a lifetime that keep me stuck in self-defeating cycles with food.
