Yikes @daria0919 that doctor needs some bedside manners education. 😳 Hope he's exaggerating!
Awesome job on your HM @martaindale! Two mountains in a race is impressive.
@quilteryoyo yeah you are having a tough week. Hope next week is an improvement 🤞
@SummerSkier glad the dog didn't get loose. Poor guy had to sacrifice his phone tho; I feel his pain 😞
Was able to get in 10 miles this morning. It was a good run, but I was surprised that I was pretty wiped after about 7 miles. Need to get back in shape.

Great race report @martaindale. It looks like a beautiful place to run.
@quilteryoyo I hope you are feeling better soon.
@daria0919 I hope it isn't torn.2 -
@daria0919 oh no! Hope it isn't torn. Sometimes it's the words they use and it turns out to be better than it sounds. My daughter is also waiting for a second MRI on both ankles, they used the words 'disrupted cartilage' and 'stress areas on the bones' whatever that means 🤷♀️ I hope you'll get a good news at your next appointment
Goal : 80km for November
2/11 5.06 km in 35:36 min (pace 7:02/km) parkrun
3/11 5.02 km 36:05 min (pace 7:11/km) group run + 2.5 km walk
5/11 3.14 km walk
7/11 3.6 km walk
10/11 5.22 km in 36 min (pace 6.55 / km ) speed repeat + 4.2 km walk
11/11 5.91 km in 45 minutes easy run
13/11 8.43 km in 60 minutes (7:14/km pace) goal pace repeats
14/11 10.6 km walk
16/11 5.01 km in 32:49 minutes (pace 6:33/km) PB
17/11 6.01 km in 44:21 minutes (pace 7:23/km) today's plan was an easy run, I had to cut it a bit short to be back in time to pick up my daughter from training. I went a different way around the marina and toward the barrage and really enjoyed it, it was peaceful and quiet except for the few odd runners. No other mums wanted to join me today but I got out anyway rather than sit with a coffee, I got a longer run in and feel great for it
40.66 km done, 39.34 km to go
Just past halfway7 -
Morning all.
Got in 5.05M at 09"48.
Thanks for the Bloody Mary comments, ladies!! 😊
@quilteryoyo booking was after 12... So definitely NOT a brunch! Haha.
@SummerSkier love it! ... And looking great Bon!
@daria0919 hope it's not "shredded"
@martaindale lovely scenic route Sarah! Well done!
@Teresa502 your half looked pretty darn scenic too! ... Looking great too 😊
6 -
@daria0919 you have been in that boot for several weeks now. I hope you are getting some improvement in the pain... fingers crossed the next shots give a better prognosis....
@martaindale great race but holy smokes! 2 mountains. I haven't run any elevation in so many years I believe that I would not be able to finish. CONGRATS!!!
I guess yesterday was dog day for me. My neighbors 2 dogs got out somehow so I ended up herding them back to their house. The gal who was house sitting could not find where they got out of the backyard which means.... it will happen again. lol. The neighbor owns a dog boarding / training facility so it is always funny to me how untrained those dogs are. And not street smart at all which is scary.
thanks for the complements on the V8 photo @Teresa502 and @quilteryoyo . I was pretty candid so wrinkles messy hair and all. LOL.
Teresa, if my friends were over an hour late I think I would have gone on or left without them... Glad you managed and yeah I would have walked the uphlll back too. No shame in that.6 -
Thanks @Scott6255 . Nice ten miles and way to hang in there after the first 7. Maybe you were just having "one of those days."
Thanks @kgirlhart .
@Emilienewme I'm impressed that you resisted the temptation to stay inside with the other moms.
Nice run @tarun_yadavA .
@SummerSkier It is interesting that the dog trainer's dogs aren't well behaved. Maybe it's like the "preacher's kids." LOL6 -
03/11 4.55 miles
09/11 3.14 miles
10/11 4.37 miles
15/11 3.15 miles
16/11 4.04 miles
17/11 3.34 miles
Goal 22.59/50 miles
Well done @martaindale sounds like you had great race! How many states have u under your trainers now?
Hi @Emilienewme. I hope you don’t mind me asking but are u living in France.3 -
Hi Everyone!
Great job on your race @martaindale ! It sounds like it was a really challenging scenic course. Sipping coffee while racing? I’ve never heard of anyone doing something like that over here. Even the Nordic walkers in the races are more serious.
@daria0919 I hope you can move around better soon and that the doctor is completely wrong in their choice of words.
Unfortunately, I hurt myself on the run today and, for the first time ever I had my husband come pick me up. I was almost at my turn around point and my calf seized up and I honestly couldn’t even walk without a lot of pain. Something like this happened to me last winter and the muscle worked itself out within a week. I’m hoping that it will be the same this time around. So I guess I will doing cross training tomorrow . After such a nice run on Friday it really was a pity but at least I got 4.4km in first.
106.2/200km for November.7 -
@Mari33a I don't mind at all, you almost guessed right. I am french (from Brittany) but I moved to the UK about 16 years ago, I now live in Wales3
-
Oh no @Laurz9191 . I hope it does work itself out soon. You know you are real runner when you end with ".....but at least I got 4.4km in first."
Today was my "rest" day mile walk. It was nice after church, so did driveway laps. Still have a bit of the crud and runny nose, but do think it is sinuses/allergies and nothing more serious.8 -

Today was my long run day. I am still in recovery mode though, so I ran 8 miles instead of my usual 10. It wasn't a bad run, but it was so humid. It is raining now and we are supposed to get some storms overnight. I may take a rest day tomorrow. I also had a mild niggle in my right shin today, so I may take a rest day tomorrow even if the weather isn't stormy in the morning.

That's a long "recovery run" @kgirlhart . I hope a little rest is all that your shin needs to be back to normal.
Nice run @tarun_yadavA ? When is the NC wedding?
3 -
@daria0919 hope your ankle turns out to be better than thought. I've had many scares like that.
@Laurz9191 sorry your calf seized up. I usually carry electrolyte salt tabs and that helps a lot when that happens on my long runs.
@kgirlhart take care of that niggle. It can creep up on you. I've had shin problems which I ignored and it wasn't pretty.
@tarun_yadavA nice run
@quilteryoyo trust the runny nose will clear up soon.
On Sunday, got in a 15k trail run with 550m elevation gain. Not a lot for these parts but I'll take it. Bits of the trail was rather rocky. Spent a lot of time dodging rocks.
Am at 105 of 200ks for the month.
Sometime last week I crossed 2000k for the year. Woop! Let's see if I can make it to 2300k by Dec end. Biggest challenge is all the creaky joints, particularly the arthritis in the left knee is getting more noticeable aka worse.
Yesterday was the last dry trail run for the season. Sky is building up on the other side. Right now we have a snowfall warning and being dumped on. Driving this morning was tricky. Time to bring out the cleats for outside runs.

@warmjellyfish that is a gorgeous expanse!!!
Today was a run between the showers I guess. I was sort of drizzly all night long but when I was ready to run my watch said I had an hour before the cold front and showers so I figured I would give it a shot and expect when I was halfway out to get nailed... wore some older shoes just in case. But I avoided any rain until the last 1/4 mile of course. It was WARM. I suppose the last warm run this year according to the weather gods. When I got home i saw the wind had knocked many of my heavenly blue morning glories to the ground and that I could rescue them so that was cool. They will be gone with the first frost but I have been enjoying them for several weeks so no complaints except I wish they were closer to the ground. currently closing in on my goal of 100 miles for the month. @Laurz9191 I hope the calf eases up some quickly and you are able to get back to running. soon. 🥹
@kgirlhart great job on your recovery. You know you gave it your all in that race for sure!!!!!

@SummerSkier those are marvelous morning glories. We have a very very short growing season here. Typically 4 months.....3

Hi MFP friends! I’m new here. I know it’s already 18days into the month 🫠
Is it too late to join this challenge? I’m in need of some fitness motivation and I have loved running in the past….7 -
Welcome @Natalie_Ernest! Definitely not too late. Jump right in.
@Laurz9191 I hope the calf is nothing serious. It must have been very painful if you had to call for a pickup!3 -

Welcome! It's never too late to join in the fun! If you want to set a goal for the remainder of the month, you can or you can just be thinking about what your goal will be for next month. It doesn't have to be a mileage goal (or k goal). It can be a time commitment or a number of runs - whatever you think would challenge you. We will be here to encourage and cheer you on!5 -

11/16: 13.3 miles
11/18: 4.3 miles
Recovery miles this morning. My legs aren't as sore or tired as I thought they might be. My knees were a little creaky for the first few tenths; not surprised with all the downhill and the road camber during the race.
I didn't do the long run assigned by my Garmin coach during my race (or the day before). I realize now I should have. It was 8 miles so I would have covered the distance but I knew I wouldn't keep up the pace she was asking for because of the mountains and I didn't want to listen to it beep. Garmin isn't smart enough to see that I ran a HM instead of the workout though so it seems to be adjusting my plan as if I missed a long run.
Thanks for the kudos everyone! @Mari33a This was state #7. I have #8-10 scheduled over the next few months.6 -

It was stormy when I got up this morning, so I just did an hour long yoga practice. But when I finished, the storm had passed and it was pretty nice out, so I decided to run a quick mile. I thought about just resting, but then I thought I would worry about my shin all day. I didn't feel any niggles and so far everything feels good so I think I am just still a little sore from my recent half marathon. The hills were really tough, so I will probably take another week of easy running and maybe some shorter runs so I will be fully recovered.
Welcome @Natalie_Ernest! It's never too late to join this group.
@SummerSkier The weather has been crazy lately. Your morning glories are so pretty!

Slow improvement, but stamina is improving. Now I only need to be able to run longer than 40 minutes before I run out of energy. Was a bit sick the last two days, but fine again today.8 -
Welcome @Natalie_Ernest! You have made a wise decision to join our group!
@Laurz9191 ouch! I hope that calf was just a cramp and it loosens up soon!
@martaindale way to get back out there after your race. I realize you didn't do an all-out race effort, but kudos for getting out there so soon.6 -
I ran a lousy 3k yesterday and realise I shouldn't have. This annoying little cold was aggravated by it and I spent a large chunk of last night coughing (a whole other kind of workout). Also, I have annoyed my right lower calf again (I think I strained it a few weeks back but only notice it when I run) and now I'm limping. Fortunately, the weather is amazing today so I'll tootle in my garden instead.9
-
Hi everyone!
Thanks for the well wishes! I am doing what I can until my body allows me to do more.
I hit the gym today for the first time in months so that I could use the elliptical. I was hoping it would loosen up my calf a bit. It is still quite tight and hurts especially when going down stairs but it is better than yesterday. I did a little over an hour on the elliptical and then made sure to do some calf stretches. The elliptical doesn’t stress my calf too much so at least I have an alternative.
@ContraryMaryMary It sounds like we are limping buddies .
@martaindale Yes, it was quite painful, but I was also 5km away and it was very cold for the clothes I was wearing . Great job getting 7 states down!
@Natalie_Ernest Welcome! It’s never too late to start a month!
106.2/200km running + 65min elliptical5 -
Hello Im new
Am i late? Is this a jogging group? Unable to, I have joint pains
..
Need a fren on this journey1 -
Nice running @WarmJellyfish . Beautiful view too.
Glad you didn't get caught in the rain @SummerSkier . It's supposed to be a lot colder here later in the week too. Glad you were able to save a couple of your morning glories.Natalie_Ernest wrote: »Hi MFP friends! I’m new here. I know it’s already 18days into the month 🫠

Nice recovery run @martaindale . Yeah, I wish Garmin could somehow "see" what is actually done, even if we don't "do the run" planned. Have you ran a TN race yet?
@kgirlhart Glad there were no niggles today.
Glad you are feeling better @yirara .
Oh no @ContraryMaryMary . Hope everything feels better soon.
Great job on the elliptical @Laurz9191 . Hopefully you'll be able to run again soon.
@kizzibillet This is indeed a running group, but some of us do a run/walk or just walking. Feel free to join us with a walking goal, if that is something that you can do.

I got up in time to do a short treadmill run before taking mom to her dentist appointment and then starting our Christmas shopping.
I walked 0.25 miles each for warm up and cool down at 3.8 mph. Since Saturday's run had felt so easy running/walking at 4.5/4.0, I decided to see how 5.0/4.0 felt today - still trying to keep my HR between 120-130 bpm. It was a struggle, but I got it done. I'm sort of glad I didn't have time for more. My avg pace was 13:01 min/mile. Avg HR was 120 with a max of 143 bpm.9 -
Morning all
