Hello all! I got in 5.17 miles this morning. It was 46F. Rain has now arrived with a cold front behind it. Snow in the forecast for Thursday - ick!
Hope you are both better soon @Laurz9191 and @ContraryMaryMary!6 -
Hi everyone!
I did another 65minutes on the elliptical. I had more pain after than before working out and was limping a lot afterwards. Sigh. I think I’m going to have to try some other cross training or take some rest days. Its always a shame when the motivation is there but the body can’t handle the training.
@tarun_yadavA It sounds like a fun trip. Third times a charm, right ?

The weather this morning was perfect running weather. It was 54F, just a light wind. The moon wasn't full, but it was still pretty big and bright. The stars were shining when I started out and the sky was blue when I got home. I didn't push the pace, just took it real easy. I felt like I could run forever, but I settled for 6 miles.

Nice run @tarun_yadavA . Have a safe flight and enjoy your time trip. Hopefully the third time is the charm for your friend.
Great run @Teresa502 . The rain stayed north of me today, but it looked threatening all day. I'm not looking forward to the weather on Thursday.
@Laurz9191 That's a long elliptical workout. Sorry it seems to be aggravating your calf too. Maybe a couple of rest days are in the cards for you. Can you take some long walks, or does that hurt it too?
Great run @kgirlhart and I'm glad it felt so good.5 -

54.25/80 mile goal
Did the dead lift workout at the gym today. Maxed out at 110 pounds x 5 reps. I've done higher, but just didn't have it in me today. LOL
Afterwards, I went ahead and did my run, thinking it was going to start raining any minute. It hasn't rained here at all today. Anyway, I did 3.11 miles with just a little bit of walking, except for the first little segment. I ran about one tenth of a mile and, for some reason, felt like I was hyperventilating, so walked until I could breath again. Breathing is pretty important when running. LOL I walked, with a little running, for cool down. I had planned to stop at 45 minutes, but was over 3.6 miles by then, so decided to round it out to 4 miles.
My avg HR was 134 with a max of 155 bpm. Splits for the run were 12:18, 11:57, 12:19, and 10:57 - wanted to finish strong.
There was a beautiful sunset tonight.
6 -
@quilteryoyo That is a beautiful sunset.2

Well it had to happen sooner or later. Yesterday's run in the big snowfall and ice was uneventful. But it was fun splashing through the snow. After the run, walking on the train platform to catch my ride, on a little downslope, caught a bit of ice and did a woopsy! 🙄 All those years of martial arts breakfall training finally came to fruition! 😁 Albeit 20 years later. My left elbow caught the fall. 😒 And I basically landed flat on my back. Managed to keep my head off the ground though, else that could have been nasty. Now all I have is one sore elbow (ice ice baby) and surprise, today my neck is sore. Probably from the impact and keeping it up. Sigh, my balance isn't what it used to be. 😒😮💨Tomorrow I march on. Another run is on a the cards, thankfully a shorter one than originally planned. I wonder how the neck is going to handle all that bobbing. 🤔🙄😬. Only one way to find out. 😈😈😈7

Morning all
Got in 7.0M at 10"17 pace.
@Laurz9191 @quilteryoyo honestly... This is a slow motion car crash. I give it 2 years.3 -
Thanks @girlhart. It was beautiful.
Oh no @WarmJellyfish . I'm glad your run went well before you fell. I hope you don't have any significant aftereffects from it.
Nice run @tarun_yadavA . We can hope that your friend has learned his lesson and he has finally found "the one" that can put up with love him.1 -

Is it too late to join this challenge? I’m in need of some fitness motivation and I have loved running in the past….
Welcome! It's never too late to join in the fun! If you want to set a goal for the remainder of the month, you can or you can just be thinking about what your goal will be for next month. It doesn't have to be a mileage goal (or k goal). It can be a time commitment or a number of runs - whatever you think would challenge you. We will be here to encourage and cheer you on!
@kizzibillet This is indeed a running group, but some of us do a run/walk or just walking. Feel free to join us with a walking goal, if that is something that you can do.
…and some of us are injured @kizzibillet & @Natalie_Ernest and still linger for support, friendship and motivation. 😀

So very sorry to hear of your fall @WarmJellyfish - hoping the injuries stay minor and recovery is quick.1

Hope you’re doing better @Laurz9191!0

I thought of you this weekend @daria0919 when I saw photos from the Richmond marathon. I had a friend run the full and another ran the 8k. (((HUGS)))0

Awe…. thanks @Teresa502!!
I actually ran the 8K!! It was Saturday night into Sunday morning in an early morning dream!!!! I forgot - I was going to mention it on here!
In reality: I had gone to packet pickup Thursday afternoon after work. Was fun watching people see me in my boot picking up my packet. I figured I payed for my long sleeve technical shirt and ought to at least pick it up. Some asked if I was there for a friend and I said no, was picking up my own packet. Then they seemed impressed. 😂
It must have been really bothering me not being able to actually do the race, so I apparently lived the race out in my dream. It supposedly took about 2 hours (never been that slow before! - a new PR of sorts?!?), but I was so very happy I finished it. I woke up that morning feeling pretty good because of that feeling of accomplishment, even if it wasn’t real.
5 -
@daria0919 thanks. I think the important thing is that you toed the line, even in your dreams. The number of times I've DNF is not funny but I tried. Just wish my dreams were that vivid lol.
@quilteryoyo some mild whiplash. Nothing Advil can't fix lol. Beaut of a sunset you had.3 -
Hey all!
Missed a few days with being on call and then a late shift. Hope everyone is well.
Still running but haven't done any pilates for a few days... All the excuses haha. Tomorrow.
Today I went out for a 34 min slow run and half way through it started raining, hard. I got absolutely drenched and my shoes were twice as heavy. Ran past someone else and we just had a laugh at the situation.
Saturday I'll be going back to park run. I havent been much this year at all with all my commitments and I'm really looking forward to going back6 -
03/11 4.55 miles
09/11 3.14 miles
10/11 4.37 miles
15/11 3.15 miles
16/11 4.04 miles
17/11 3.34 miles
20/11 4.54 miles
Goal 27.13/50 miles
The arch of my left foot is really hurting at the moment. It’s been niggling for over a month but got really bad after Sundays run. I didn’t try to run yesterday but gave it a go today. The 1st mile was more of a hobble but it eased a bit but the pain was still there for whole run. I think it was the pedal of my bike cutting into my old runners that caused it so changed them. I’m putting an anti inflammatory cream on the area to see if that works6 -

Today's run was mostly good. It was cold. I'm not really a fan of cold weather. I never quite know how to dress for it and often end up overdressed. I did alright today though. I wore a lightweight pair of capri-length leggings and they weren't too warm. I probably would have been ok in shorts, but I wasn't too warm in the leggings. I also wore a t-shirt and sleeves and never had to take the sleeves off. My hands were a little cold. I wore a lightweight pair of fingerless compression gloves but I think my other pair of gloves would have been too warm. The sky was clear and it is that lovely time of year where it is dark when I start out and light when I get home. As I came to the park, a deer bounded across the road right in front of me. I was thinking about how cool that was and I was just about to hit 5 miles when my watch beeped and turned off. So I stopped to see what the deal was. I turned it back on and it came up with the screen to save or resume, so I resumed the run and the mile alert beeped and it said 6 miles. I knew I was at 5 so then I was annoyed for the rest of the way home. I ran the exact same route as yesterday though, so even though my watch said 7.22 miles, I know it was a 10K run. It is so annoying when technology doesn't work right. And now I'm worried that my watch is about to fail on me and I really don't want the expense of replacing it right now,
5 -
@daria0919 I don't blame you for picking up your shirt. Hahaha about the dream. You could have totally walked the race in the boot in 2 hours - so it was a totally realistic dream.
Thanks @WarmJellyfish . I'm glad you only have mild injuries. It could have been so much worse.
@Avidkeo Glad that you and the other runner found humor in the situation. Great job with the run and I hope you enjoy the parkrun on Saturday.
Oh no @Mari33a . I hope you are right about the cause and it feels better soon.3 -

57.25/80 mile goal
I went to the gym this morning and did a cardio/core workout.
When I got home, I did a run on the treadmill. I walked at 3.8 mph for a quarter mile for both warm up and cool down. I ran one mile at 4.6 mph, walked 2 min at 4.0 mph, then ran/walked at 5.0/4.0 to keep my HR under 150 mph. Avg pace was 12:59 min/mile. Avg HR was 126 with a max of 152 bpm.4 -
No running again for me as I try and shake this cold and heal my calf. I am off to Pilates in an hour or so, which I'm looking forward to. I'm trying a new studio, so hopefully it's fab.6
-
Yikes. I haven’t done a proper reformer class in many years. That hurt! My poor bum. It’ll be interesting to see if I can walk tomorrow 😂6

Chilly morning at 30F but thankfully the winds from late yesterday evening and last night had died down so it wasn’t too cold.
That’s funny about the reactions at packet pick-up @daria0919 and the fact that you dreamed about running the race. Glad you went and got your packet. I’m sure it was a nice shirt. I still have 2 blankets from the finish line that I use all the time.
Sorry about your jolting fall @WarmJellyfish and I hope your foot is better soon @Mari33a.
@kgirlhart – I saw that Garmin is having their Thanksgiving sale! My watch has been temperamental when it comes to charging and I’m so tempted to order a new one while they are on sale. Telling myself they will probably have a Christmas sale too…probably….
1 -
Great run @Teresa502 . It was a bit too chilly for me this morning.
@kgirlhart Great run and seeing deer is so cool. Sorry about the technology issues. Sounds like a new watch is definitely needed. I'd be lost without mine.0 -

I went to the gym this morning and did a bench press workout. I got a PR of 60 pounds x 3 reps.
The wind had started blowing, it was cold out, and I was staying in town for the Thanksgiving meal at daycare, so I stayed and did my run on the gym manual treadmill. I walked 0.25 miles, ran/walked 0.25/0.10 miles, then walked 0.25 miles. Avg pace was 12:42 min/mile. Avg HR was 120 with a max of 150 bpm.

It was colder this morning at 36°F. It wasn't windy so that helped, but it was still colder than I like. I ran another 6.25 miles today. I didn't have any issues with my watch. I may have to check into the sale though, thanks @Teresa502.

6.2 miles after work. You know when it is a pretty good run when the last mile feels easier than the first.
