Lisa - I for sure was sleeping when you posted your middle of the night post.
I don’t know if I slept for more than a couple hours last night though. I feel like I was awake off and on all night and when I wasn’t awake I was dreaming vivid dreams of people I love that have passed in the process of passing. All at once, which is not what happened in real life.
I love that I finally gave a place that people can see my decorations. Rodger also would think something was wrong with me if I didn’t. On the 7th I’ll be transforming the inside.
Lanette - your story about threatening to drop your DH off reminds me of a time I did kick Rodger out.It was December 1995, shortly before Christmas we went to a party for his work. It was at a coworker’s house in a backwoods area I didn’t know well. We had agreed that I would drive so he could have a couple of drinks without worrying. I actually mixed his drinks that night and I only mixed 2. It started snowing so I told him we should head home, he lost it! Didn’t want to leave and was angry I was even suggesting it. It was such abnormal behaviour from him it scared me. One of his coworkers convinced him that it would be safer if we left before the roads got too bad. On the way home, a 35-40 minute drive at the best of times, he tried to jump out of the car, he tried to grab the wheel, and was screaming at me. He never screams at me ever. We got to town and close to home and I didn’t know what to do. I couldn’t take him home in that state, he was threatening to get in his truck (transport truck) when we got there and he would just leave. We drove by the police station and I started to pull in. He calmed down, but as soon as I got going again though he started again. I drive by our street and I told him I wasn’t taking him home and risking him waking the girls up. I drove right on by. Heather told me to let him out and he would walk home. I thought that would be good for him so I agreed. He staggered from one side of the road to the other and I watched him in the mirror as I drove back towards our street.Rodger wanted to have one of those continuous glucose monitors and the pharmacist told him they were for severe diabetics not someone not on insulin like him.
At the time we were living with my “other mom” Linda so I knew she was there, I went in the house and told her something was wrong with him and I didn’t know what to do.
We hid Rodger’s keys and locked the door. When he finally made it to the door we wouldn’t let him in. All of a sudden Lauryn heard him and came out to see what was wrong. She was only 5, he saw her and immediately broke down crying and begging us to let him in. We did, and he was sober as a judge just like that. The next day he didn’t and still to this day doesn’t remember any of it. We figure someone must have slipped something in his drink. I’ve never seen him like that before or since. He is not a big drinker, if he has a pint or rum a year it’s a lot.
He didn’t find it amusing when the next year Lauryn learned the song “Please Daddy Don’t get Drunk this Christmas” and sang it at every opportunity. 😂

Busy day at work today, didn’t even get home until 520 usually it 440. I worked for three hours on ornaments tonight.

I am trying to sleep more often in the bed. I have a dental appliance I need to start to wear again. I think a weighted blanket would help! My mouth is not dry when I wake up.
My neighbor has set up projection XMAS lights. They are fun! We will put wreaths up this week end. I am making 5 Martha
Stuart recipes this week for Thanksgiving dinner.
I walked a brisk 2.5 miles with some friends this morning and was very tired in the afternoon. I purposefully ate many more calories than I would have otherwise. I was just so weak and tired. I have taken 2 shots and not lost weight yet.
it is 1:30 am now and I feel much better. The house is in the process of being decluttered and there are boxes about. This is causing me to be demoralized. I have help coming at 1 pm tomorrow. Hopefully more progress can be made!
My new puppy is a delight. I will take him for some lessons in December.
I guess I should get back to sleep. I will use the CALM app and this should work!

I missed posting for a day! Haven't done that in ages. No reason, just didn't. I did read though, and my heart goes out to all of you who are coping with illness, or the illness of loved ones.
I think there was so much to think about, I was just overwhelmed. Please know I am thinking of you. Constantly.
Yes, Tracey, he was spiked. What a terrible thing to do to someone. Disgusting.
I heard yesterday of one of my old schoolfriends, not a close one, who lost her daughter to myocarditis from covid. Her son also has long covid.
We have starred a kind of email group as it's five years since our last reunion. It seems, a lot have developed chronic illness since. This poor woman also has rheumatoid arthritis and is recovering from ovarian cancer. We are all around 76. I am the youngest at 75. A couple have lost husbands. One or two are living in France. One has just published a new picture book for children. She was always a brilliant artist at school.
At 70, when we last all met, we were mostly pretty chipper. Now a lot are saying they don't drive far, and find travelling any distance difficult.
Another reminder to make the best of every day.
Today is our twentieth wedding anniversary. I'm going to make the morning cuppa in a minute and carry his presents and card in. We've always been good conversationlists - one of the reasons I married him. We also laugh a LOT.
I loved watching him with Bea yesterday. She chatters away about everything, holds his hand on the way home from school, and beats him at Connect 4 without even trying hard! They were talking about maths and she got the idea of sequences immediately. She has the memory of an elephant!
John said to me later that evening, "Bibi's good value, isn't she. She'll go far." He had spent a good time yesterday working on the Christmas Quiz for the kids on Christmas Eve, when we are having the Pancake Orgy.
Rori - Good thing you weren't well. That's when you see the true person. :-) Better to know sooner! But sorry you felt so rotten. Xxxx

I think we both surpassed ourselves with today's presents! Best ever.
Among other things, John got me metallic acrylic paints, and a biography of Barbara Pym, my favourite author at the moment. And avocado oil.
I got him a white Villeroy and Boch mug, which is so fabulous, I'm going to get another one for myself! Plus a blue tea towel, in pure linen, handmade in Cornwall, with white wild flowers on it. (He does all the washing up) Plus a few other fun bits. Gorgeous dark chocolate with three kinds of nuts.
We had both hand painted our cards.
Hooray for Amazon! And M&S for the chocolate.
I won £3.90 on the lottery.
So a good start to the day. I'm going to get dolled up for lunch, even though it's not that kind of place, and have a lighter lunch, in order to leave room for the fillet steaks in the evening. Uber to get there.

As I am sitting here catching up on yesterday, I realized I also have been up early the last two days. This morning I woke at 3:30 and went ahead and got up at 4. I had 6 or so hours of sleep in. Going to get stretches in and go to office early. Perhaps it is something with the weather changes that is impacting all of us? They are projecting some snow here Thursday and Friday.
Talked with doctor's office yesterday and they confirmed my reading of PET scan and CT. Things look pretty stable but they want to keep monitoring. Will have CT scans of neck and chest again in February along with blood work. Who know when, if ever, it moves to one of the new therapeutic treatments? Meanwhile just keep moving.
Budget time has me very busy along with other special projects. Need to stop into a community meeting this morning to get caught up.

Heather - Love the cards... glad you posted them, I was looking forward to that! Hope your day continues as wonderful as it began.
Rori - Heather's got the right of it. He didn't cut and run, and it shows a lot of good in him, and a lovely regard for you. Sorry you felt like ca-ca the whole time, though!
Back up again at 3 a.m. Every time I started to drift off, bless his heart, a particularly sonorous snore would reverb off my eardrums. Unusual - hope he's not coming down with something. He seldom snores that much.
Am in a mental/emotional transition from orienting on creating a number of similar items like beaded bracelets and Christmas ornaments, or scrunchies and such things, to designing and creating unique items. "Designing" isn't accurate really, other than the structure. It's more like painting with fabric in the colorways that echo my paintings. First, I've got to turn my craft room back into a sewing and art room again. Won't take much, mostly just cleaning and organizing a bit, as you can see here.
I need to juggle all those things which plug in a little better, as I now have all four machines hooked up, and four spots and an overhead lamp. At the moment, Egg is sitting in the middle of my large cutting mat on the left, because I have material there left over from the table covers for the fair. I paint next to the serger on the right, which is evidenced by flecks of blue paint on it from my last session... and that's where the daylight lamp swivels to take in the painting surface or ironing. All the machines but the one nearest the camera are set up to sew standing up, saves my back. I quilt on the sit-down one, as it takes time and a lot of picky work. The rest are set up for heavy-duty work, straight-line seams and serging, usually quickly done.
As for what I'm doing next... See in the spoiler.I took one of the paintings that I was not enamored of, in yellows and greens, and worked with it first, in order to prove out a couple of my ideas, from creating a bag that will echo the colors in the painting to using quilting to echo the "movement" of the painting. Added "feet" as well (in the last picture), to keep it off the floor, as so many people do place them on the floor. Got it done the week before the fair, but kept looking at it and thinking about whether it's workable.. I'm pleased enough with the concept to keep on this direction for three more of those paintings.I'll be refining a lot of things in the structure and quilting to make each one work the way I want it to...
My next major project in the room is to either buy or build the risers so they take up less work surface, and contain storage in each riser. Not sure when I'll get to that, but that's what drove me out of bed this morning! 😸 Basically, I want each one to be a large drawer or pair of drawers that support the machine on top and keep everything for that machine underneath. That's the notion, anyway...
Corey will be up in a minute to get his morning routine in gear. I'm contemplating a broccoli and cheddar soup for dinner, with a panini for him, or something like it, anyway. While I'm not fond of soup or vegetables or cheddar cheese, ordinarily, I think I can make one that will satisfy my picky tastebuds. We'll see. If I hate it, I can always have some crackers and cheese...

Machka the “real luxuries” meme. Truth. Was going to say that the idea of doing new things every day was exhausting, but then realized that at least twice a week I do new things, learn new dances Why don’t you like output to Excel?

The new things don't have to be monumental and extensive.
Some of the new things I learn on a day are a word or two in code and how to use them ... just takes a few minutes.
Or learning what a difference planting my lilac tree in the ground vs in a barrel makes.
Or trying out a different kind of pen for my colouring.
As for Excel, I don't like it in this circumstance because, to me, it's double-handling the data.
I know that validators can be built to handle CSV files. In fact, a significant organisation used by the Commonwealth uses one for data submissions from the State.
My data is in a SQL Server database and I could export a CSV file and load it into such a validator. I have done that in other circumstances.
But this branch of the Commonwealth has opted to use awkward semi-protected Excel templates for their validator. So I have to use Power Query to pull the data from the database into Excel, into my working Excel template, and then I have to manually populate their Excel template. That's too many steps to be efficient.
Although, one of the "new things" I am working on is to attempt to automatically populate their Excel template which is not easy given the level of protection they've got on theirs. I just cannot fathom the idea of willingly waking up at any point between 1 am and 7 am ... and getting up to start my day. I do get up a couple times in the night for the Toilet Trek, but I'm half asleep when that happens and I have actually fallen back to sleep on the toilet. And about 7 seconds after returning to bed, I am sound asleep again.
Even when I have to wake up a little after 7 am, every morning I go to work, it's not willingly. I do not like getting up that early ... but I like my job and want to keep it, so I get up. Actually, waking up then is a bit of a process ... my alarm goes off 3 times and about 2 seconds after I hit snooze, I'm sound asleep again. Then my husband comes in to wake me up and stays till I start to make a move to get up.
I can survive on very little sleep if necessary (like when my husband was in hospital and I was working on my Master's degree), but I feel slightly nauseated and achy the whole time and I will fall asleep at any moment I relax: on the bus, in lectures, in meetings, in waiting rooms, in the toilet.
Most of the time, I'm asleep soon after I turn out the light, and I sleep deeply for hours and hours and hours ... and if I weren't wakened by my bladder (briefly) or husband (more persistently), I would continue to sleep deeply for hours and hours and hours.
I suppose things could change as I get older, but I imagine me going to bed about 1 am and sleeping till about 11 am pretty much every day when I'm retired ... like I do now on weekends.

Good early morning ladies!
Sue - I saw your post from yesterday - hope the wind didn't hit you too hard. I see that Marysville had gusts of 45 mph at around 9 last night and it's still fairly windy. It looks like they are still getting 50 mph winds 20 miles east of me right now (3 am on Wednesday.) This is going to stick around.
Barbie and Rebecca and Evey - how did you fare?
I was ultra-prepared, lights didn't even blink and that's probably why. The 45 mph gusts they predicted never materialized in my neighborhood, it looks like we had a gust of 25 mph last night around 9. Rosie has an appointment at the groomer's this morning at 8 in a neighboring town, so I'll be able to get her there no problem.
Anyhow, the woodstove is now ready to go whenever we do get an extended power outage. I pruned the apple trees a bit yesterday morning to take off some heavy branches so they wouldn't be tempted to tip over if the wind got too fierce. Plus I reinforced the tarps around chickenville with heavy duty rubber straps. I swear, DH has everything a person could need stuck away in that shop! Once the sun comes up I'll see how my preparations fared. I shined the spotlight in that direction and the apple trees are still upright.
Sue - you mentioned your horses have thick coats which might portend a cold nasty winter. I noticed the skimmia japonica bush right outside my front door looks like its getting ready to bloom. It usually is a late winter/early spring bloomer with a lovely delicate fragrance that only lasts for a few weeks.
Heather - Happy Anniversary, I just love that you and John take the time to give each other little gifts and have a special meal to celebrate the occasion.
Lisa - your fabric purses are gorgeous and the perfect gift item. They remind me a little of my favorite Vera Bradley purse.
Rori - N is certainly a special guy. You two have settled into such a nice relationship. He's not underfoot and you get to enjoy the pleasure of having someone deeply care about you. Have fun in Thailand! Can't wait to go there vicariously with you.
Ginny - glad your tests show things are stable. I remember the budget crunch time.
Tracey - your house decorations are beautiful. Rodger's behavior was so scary. When DH broke his back, they gave him Tramadol for a painkiller, which made him angry and acting similar to how Rodger acted. DH didn't even remember. Thank goodness DH was in the hospital when it happened, I told the nurse to give him valium and that helped calm him down.
I checked further into those continuous glucose monitors. Evidently the Lingo one only works with an I-phone, which I don't have, and the Sela one got mixed reviews so they are off the table for me. Insurance covers the cost of CGM's if a person has type 2 diabetes, so these over the counter ones are something for the rest of us and cost runs $50 to $100 for a month of monitoring including the sensor. Sounds like the sensors aren't painful at all except for when being removed - they are attached with some type of superglue.
Yesterday I baked cod for lunch. It was better than I expected. I want to start getting more fish in my diet other than salmon and tuna.

John and I had a fabulous meal. We both started with scallops, which is in the photo, then I had octopus and John had mussels. I had a slurp of his wine in my sparkling water. For dessert we had Affogato.
It was lovely and relaxing.
Now for a nap.

Heather: I must say if I could find a John like your John who will help with the cooking and at least declutter his stuff and then enjoy a fine meal and also help with the grandchildren, I would probably consider dating!
And he enjoys the ocean? My DH was all about a lake in NH where he had good memories with his family. It felt like a competition with those memories at times. He was 47 when we married.
Where did you meet? You were still in your 50's?

The challenge of Jake not driving is complicated. First, I am challenged by the need to pee so often that driving (or riding) somewhere too far away with no obvious rest stops doesn't work for me. The other challenge is Annie who can't be left at home alone and there's no one who can spend long periods of time with her. Thus, the decision that I don't drive except locally. I can drive in town and to the next town where the hospital is. Annie can ride with me and stay in the car for a short period alone if I have to go anywhere. She and I can wait in the car and listen to music while Jake is at his appointments. The next challenge is that I am never alone in the house because there is no time when Jake and Annie can go somewhere and leave me home alone. The next challenge is that Jake is a terrible passenger (not as bad as some of you have described your husbands) and often treats me like a 14 year old with a learner's permit, looking for traffic and having his head in my way when I need to look, reaching in front of me to push the garage door opener, warning me of upcoming traffic, and commenting on my being either over or under the speed limit. I have been a good driver and able to drive long distances and in heavy traffic and in cities, I'm just not doing that now.
The next thing is that the Tesla can be serviced only in the Seattle area---more than two hours away. If anything goes wrong I have no idea how we can get it fixed. I love the Tesla. It is red and sleek and has electronic gadgetry that delights me. It means no going into a gas station, just plug it in when I get home and park it in the garage. It is the fourth car of my dreams (the first was a Ford Mustang when I was in my 20's, the second was a Buick Somerset Regal that was the first of the cars with a dashboard with digital readouts, and the third was a Mercedes Benz in my 40's purchased with money I inherited when my mother died).
I don't think I've said it aloud, but I've thought it frequently that if Jake predeceases me, it wouldn't be long before I drove the Tesla to the car dealer locally and traded it in on something that could be serviced locally.
On Monday Jake said he thought it would be a good idea to trade the Tesla in and get a Subaru or a Toyota. He was concerned about not being able to get it serviced locally and some of the challenges of finding a place to recharge if we took it out of town. I didn't argue. By yesterday afternoon he'd talked to a car salesman friend of a friend and we were at the Toyota dealer looking at a car. This time, I didn't want to find the car of my dreams, just one that could be serviced locally and that we could buy without having higher car payments than we have now. We found something but I refused to sign anything right away. We've done that before and had regrets later. The salesman agreed to hold it for us to think it over.
We had lots of time to think it over last night since the power went out at about 5 PM and didn't come back on until nearly midnight.
This morning I'll drive us to the Toyota dealer and try not to cry when I leave my shiny red Tesla behind and drive home in a less jazzy car. In the long run this is a good decision but I'll be sad for awhile.

Barbie, Probably a good decision to trade the Telsa so another car can be serviced locally. I have always had Hondas. And I have always been able to service the car at the dealer. Now maybe this will change and I will stop using the dealer. But one reason I purchased a Toyota this time was because the Toyota dealership was on my side of town. And this is easier for me.

Good decision Barbie. 👏 Ease of life is so important.
I spend most of my day in my bedroom, away from John, and then I enjoy all the more getting together for meals, tv, and aperitif. He goes out for a walk every afternoon, but I imagine Jake can't do that. I haven't driven in the six years since we moved here and don't even like being driven by John at all. I don't go far with him. I always sit in the back seat so I am not tempted to wince.
I really dislike car travel, but I'm better in a car that isn't mine.
The main reason we moved from the countryside was for all of those reasons. I wanted to be able to walk to the shop to buy a pint of milk. Hospital is a bus ride away. Doctor and dentist in the next road. Strangely, it is quieter here than in the countryside, with neighbours there improving their homes, using mowing and blowing machinery, farmers, etc. I'm rather dreading our long term neighbours selling up one day as I know there will be noise then from refurbs.
Can you find a pet sitter for Annie?
I'm so sorry that your very difficult circumstances are making you anxious. I would be too. ❤️ 🧡 💛 💚 💙 💜 Commiserations.
Rosemarie - We met online in the very early days of online dating. Just very basic websites then. I was 53 when we met and just 55 when we got married. We both immediately retired from paid work. John was just 59. We had some wonderful years travelling widely all over the 🌎. Long vacations in France. Now we let the cruises take the strain! John will be 80 on our cruise next year.
Believe me, we count our blessings every day. He saw me through breast cancer and this year of operations. I never take anything for granted. He had a bad concussion a few years ago and took ages to recover. My new book I am writing is called 'What If ...I Am' and is about the twists of fate that got us here. You went through hell with your husband's illness. I hope I am spared that, but you never know what is around the corner. Hence our determination to make the most of every moment.

I was able to have maybe 15 wish him happy birthday on FB so hopefully he saw that.💖. I was hard not being able to send him a card or box this year for his birthday. He's not got an address right niw, being in medical hold status.😥💖
No get together yet, hopefully on Thursday. He had said last week that she wanted to hang out on Tuesday, but she never got back to me. I had decided to go with husband to his diabetes appt in Mt. Vernon instead anyways. I had told her yesterday morning, with no response back. I need to have a chat with her about confirming things we do. If I hadn't gone with husband, I would've been just waiting here, for a get together that wouldn't have happened. I need to have a more clear cut plan.

Hello, my beautiful friends. It sounds like a lot is going on with you all. I have been reading and keeping up. I was moved by how Tere had gone through Hell and back. The fact that you are a fighter is why you are in the land of the living. I am so impressed by your story. It brought me to tears. I am glad you are doing better.
Lisa, I'm so sorry the event wasn't successful. Your work was beautiful. I'd like to know if you have PayPal so I can purchase the scrunchies. Those are great stocking stuffers, and the Christmas ones were so
festive. You must come to Mississippi and sell your stuff at the hospital (UMMC). Our nurses don't have time to shop, and we always look for cute things. Dealing with the public is demanding, and dealing with people takes time.
Tracey, Thanks for your Ideas for my paints. I can not wait to get started on my projects after Christmas. Currently, I am going to make earrings for my co-workers. I may also begin knitting a new scarf. I want to get back to scrapbooking, too, next year.

I have done some decluttering. I cleared out another cabinet in the kitchen to put my other stuff that had been sitting on the table. After I cleared it out, I saw mold on the back wall. That means the people my insurance company hired to work in my kitchen after the fire didn't seal it properly, so water is seeping behind the sink. I told DH to notify the insurance company. I had new countertops and cabinetry with a backsplash put in just a few years back. I should not have mold. I sprayed bleach and left the cabinet empty. I think they did a poor job on all of my cabinets. On the other side, the lowers are warped. I threw away everything I couldn't put in the dishwasher in that cabinet. I put my Tupperware and mixing bowels in the pantry. I gave some people at work my Christmas scrub tops that are too big and the other festive ones. My peasant one that I couldn't wait to fit is too big now. I wore it this past week, and it showed too much cleavage due to it hanging down too low. I moved Rose's bed in the den so I could put the tree in the window. She was offended and tried to put it back. So I put a box there so she wouldn't.
I am up to five days of working out. I lost two more pounds, but I wish I could have lost more. So, I am going to reassess my macros. I wonder if I am gaining muscle due to the strength training. Perhaps I will increase my exercise on Monday and Friday; we will see.
I got together with my friends, and we talked about our kids. We all met when our kids were in kindergarten. We meet once a month. They thought I was crazy. I brought my protein chips(Quest) and my low-carb tortillas. I also had my container to put away my leftovers early, so I didn't overeat. I am in this fight to win.
As for work, I cared for babies, which was a joy. Their personalities are so funny. I had one mom who was an excellent caregiver. She is in the Navy, and this is her first baby. He was the sickest of the three. By my last night, we got him off of Bipap, and he was eating and smiling. My second one was a tiny premie who lost weight and was throwing up. Mom had postpartum blues. She was so busy on the phone she was not feeding her baby. I ended up feeding him. I got him to gain weight. I encouraged mom to let
go of the phone and feed her baby. Finally, she was able to feed him an entire bottle. He was a cute little peanut. Mom was offended cause I told her that she holds and bonds with her baby to get off the phone.
I told her that her baby's listening to "F" this and "F" that and also hearing the P word was inappropriate.
It sounded like a lullaby with vulgar language. Maybe I am a prude, but that is how I feel.
I need to work on my son's room tonight. It won't be long before it is time for me to be going to
Orlando. Wow, I had a lot to say, as always. I hope everyone has a happy Wednesday.

The challenge of Jake not driving is complicated. First, I am challenged by the need to pee so often that driving (or riding) somewhere too far away with no obvious rest stops doesn't work for me. The other challenge is Annie who can't be left at home alone and there's no one who can spend long periods of time with her. Thus, the decision that I don't drive except locally. I can drive in town and to the next town where the hospital is. Annie can ride with me and stay in the car for a short period alone if I have to go anywhere. She and I can wait in the car and listen to music while Jake is at his appointments. The next challenge is that I am never alone in the house because there is no time when Jake and Annie can go somewhere and leave me home alone. The next challenge is that Jake is a terrible passenger (not as bad as some of you have described your husbands) and often treats me like a 14 year old with a learner's permit, looking for traffic and having his head in my way when I need to look, reaching in front of me to push the garage door opener, warning me of upcoming traffic, and commenting on my being either over or under the speed limit. I have been a good driver and able to drive long distances and in heavy traffic and in cities, I'm just not doing that now.
The next thing is that the Tesla can be serviced only in the Seattle area---more than two hours away. If anything goes wrong I have no idea how we can get it fixed. I love the Tesla. It is red and sleek and has electronic gadgetry that delights me. It means no going into a gas station, just plug it in when I get home and park it in the garage. It is the fourth car of my dreams (the first was a Ford Mustang when I was in my 20's, the second was a Buick Somerset Regal that was the first of the cars with a dashboard with digital readouts, and the third was a Mercedes Benz in my 40's purchased with money I inherited when my mother died).
I don't think I've said it aloud, but I've thought it frequently that if Jake predeceases me, it wouldn't be long before I drove the Tesla to the car dealer locally and traded it in on something that could be serviced locally.
On Monday Jake said he thought it would be a good idea to trade the Tesla in and get a Subaru or a Toyota. He was concerned about not being able to get it serviced locally and some of the challenges of finding a place to recharge if we took it out of town. I didn't argue. By yesterday afternoon he'd talked to a car salesman friend of a friend and we were at the Toyota dealer looking at a car. This time, I didn't want to find the car of my dreams, just one that could be serviced locally and that we could buy without having higher car payments than we have now. We found something but I refused to sign anything right away. We've done that before and had regrets later. The salesman agreed to hold it for us to think it over.
We had lots of time to think it over last night since the power went out at about 5 PM and didn't come back on until nearly midnight.
This morning I'll drive us to the Toyota dealer and try not to cry when I leave my shiny red Tesla behind and drive home in a less jazzy car. In the long run this is a good decision but I'll be sad for awhile.

Lanette, quite windy here last night, power flickered several times while I was making dinner, but stayed on til we were done and a bit longer. It went out around 7 pm but only for ten min or so. Woke up around six am and realized that it was out again so just stayed in bed and slept some more. Heard everything start up around nine am, don’t actually know how long it was out for tho. It’s very calm here now and the sun is trying hard to peek thru, but I don’t think it’ll make it.

Many more I would like to comment on but time is ticking away and I MUST get to the gym today! My motivation has been really lacking and it just gets easier and easier to skip if I go more than one day. It’s now been five days, yikes!

I invited Lynette here for dinner the day after Thanksgiving two weeks ago. Last week she said to me “I’ll let you know as soon as I know”. Still haven’t heard from her. To me, this is a bit rude. I’m going to start food shopping and I need to know how many people to plan for. Honestly, I’ll probably plan that they’re coming. I got a 9lb turkey. So far there will be 6 of us, with them it’ll be 8. If they don’t come, we’ll just have more leftovers.
I did order the splint for PF since it also says it's good for Achilles Tendonitis. I'm thinking that that's the heel. Can't hurt. I hope it's gone by Thanksgiving because Jess will be here and if I don't take Ganon for a walk, she'll know something's up.

PF often manifests as heel pain. That is where my pain is. I have been treating it since May. It's better, but not gone. The pain normally goes away after a few steps.

Overview
In session 4, you learned how to increase activity
towards a goal of at least 150 minutes per week. Over
the next few weeks, you will learn how to challenge
your body by adding variety to your exercise plan. The
4 main types of activities will be discussed in detail, and
you will learn how to work them into your plan.
4 Main Types of Physical Activity
Cardiovascular fitness
Strength training
Flexibility
Stability
Why is it Important to Add Variety to Your
Exercise Plan?
You may have noticed that your body has gotten used
to the activity that you are doing. Exercise may be
getting easier for you. Adding variety to your exercise
plan will add a challenge for your body so that you
continue to see the benefits.

As you review the different types of physical activities,
try to pick out a few that you’ve never tried. You and
your coach will work on adding these new activities
into your plan.
Remember, ask your doctor before starting a new
activity.
Cardiovascular Activity
Cardiovascular activity is an activity that raises your
heart rate. It is the type of activity that we think of when
we hear the word “exercise.” General guidelines are to
aim for 150 minutes of moderate activity per week.
However, your coach will guide you on the
recommended amount of cardiovascular activity that
is right for you.

your heart rate to the correct rate.

Strength Training
Strength training is an important part of physical fitness.
It helps to increase bone density, strengthen joints, and
improve balance and stability. An increase in muscle
mass also increases your metabolism (the rate at which
your body burns food for energy).
Strength training is recommended 2-3 times per week
with days of rest in between. If you have not done
strength training in the past, ask a certified personal
trainer before starting.

Flexibility and Stability

least twice per week.
Types of Flexibility and Stability Activities:

➢ Foam rollers

Making Exercise Convenient
Having an exercise plan that includes a variety of
activities can be hard. The easier you can make it to
exercise, the more likely you are to follow through.

➢ Home equipment: Consider buying a treadmill,
stationary bike, dumbbells, kettlebells, resistance
bands or free weights for your home.
➢ Gym membership: Find a gym close to your home
or workplace that has convenient class times and
offers a good range of activities.
➢ Get a personal trainer: Seek out trainers who have
a degree in exercise physiology or are accredited
by ACE, ACSM or NSCA.
➢ Use the Internet: Find websites that provide daily
workouts. Try a YouTube yoga class.
Keep Challenging Yourself
If you are bored with your exercise plan, you are less
likely to stick with it. Whenever you hit a plateau or find
you are dreading your next workout, dig deep and find
a new way to be stretched.
➢ Set weekly, monthly or yearly goals
➢ Increase time, intensity or frequency of your
activities
➢ Change the type of activity you are doing
➢ Strive for a personal best
➢ Sign up for a race or mini-triathlon

I'm sorry you had to battle the internet! I know with our bank account if you mess up logging in, it cancels you out, or makes you go thru that testing phase. Then I have to find my cheat sheet on what my answers were! There's a good reason I have no payment stuff on my tablet. Nor do I buy anything on here.
