So here I am again after checkup at the Doc's yesterday weighed in at 204, granted I was wearing jeans, my heavy watch, a jacket and my tennis shoes but still, not acceptable! We have been in survival mode the last 3 to 5 years. Our house was destroyed by Hurricane Ida back in 2021, but it's better than new now and since last April I've been caretaker for my hubby running him to MD Anderson for treatment for his CLL Leukemia while also trying to keep my 91 yr old Daddy from getting into trouble Lol Everything is going well. Hubby is on the mend and has graduated to monthly visits. He may even be what's called MRD (Marginal Residual Disease) which means they can no longer detect the CLL in his blood or bone marrow. The test results said he was but we haven't heard it from the Dr's lips yet. Daddy still enjoys our Sunday visits for lunch. Now that everyone is settling down it's time to focus back on me getting healthy. Looking for some cheerleaders on the journey. I no longer do Zumba or Spin but am slowly getting back to my Yoga and walking at age 62. Still working full time too. My goal is to get down to 165 which Doc says if I get down to 170 he would consider letting me get off the Blood pressure and cholesterol lowering RX, I'd also like to start walking 5k and 10ks again. Would love to be a part of your group. Would also like to add a few friends to be accountable to. Looking forward to the journey. Talk soon.

Welcome!
Sorry you've had to go through all of that, but it's good that you're taking the first steps into bettering your life!
It's never too late and walking is a great way to start, even if you start small. Make better choices with food and portion sizes, you should be able to start seeing results and then just listen to your body and if you want to run, start running! It's a very healthy option as well. Whatever you do enjoy it and it'll be sustainable!1 -
