Did a spinning workout and then went in the pool for an hour. It’s so good to be back at exercise at the Y. I just realized that BK is closed Thanksgiving so I can exercise that day! Yea! I’ll go to the Y the day before and do some HIIT and then on Thurs I’m thinking that I’ll do pilates
Rori – telling us about your time with N puts a real smile on my face. I’m so happy for you. N sounds like a real keeper I agree with Lisa – it says a lot about him being there for you even tho you didn’t feel well.
I saw a catepillar the other day and he had such a wooly coat! Made me so sad. I don’t mind, tho, if it’s cold while I’m in FL…:)
Tracey – wonder why you shouldn’t wear the splint at night? If you wear it during the day, that might be too much. That I can understand. But if you don’t wear it during the day….. How scary for you and Rodger!
It’s spritzing outside right now so I think what we’re going to do is bring the ornament boxes (where we store them) back upstairs and put them away in the garage. It’s sad...but hopefully next year things will be back to normal. At least I won’t have to string popcorn….lol Update: he doesn’t want to put the ornaments away, probably since he wants to eat early so we can go to bowling. Think I’ll go to Food Lion to get the things on sale there that we need for T day
barbie – sounds like you made the right decision
Mo – I usually don’t get my workouts from uTube mainly because I have A LOT of exercise DVD’s (probably around 400) Congrats on the weight loss. You impress me so much taking care of those babies
Heather – happy anniversary and congrats on your good luck
Rita – rest up and feel better fast
Okie – how have you been treating your foot pain?
After work today (Thurs) stopped at Food Lion to get more sweet potatoes. Roasted them and now have them in the freezer. Vince and I put most of the holiday totes back in the garage.
Carol – our internet was out yesterday, too! Not sure for how long. It came back on sometimes during the night
M – so sorry about the impending dental work. I’m jealous that you’re having such warm weather when today I had to wear a a coat to work (boo)
Allie – yes, it is SO HARD not to be on my feet. I’ve pretty muchly given up walks. Killing me, but it needs to be done. I’m trying to do only what’s absolutely necessary. Plus, my exercise has been spinning, using the bike downstairs (sometimes I’ll do that in place of walking around the neighborhood), next week I’ll do some HIIT on the elliptical. Avoiding the treadmill. This s****. But then again, “this too shall pass”. My splint came today, at least that’s what the email from Amazon says. Thanks so much for those day brightener pics. As Evelyn said “it gets easier and easier to skip (exercise)”. I hope this doesn’t happen to me, but I fear that it will.
I need to make a list and go over it with Vince what we’re going to get people for christmas. I’d like to use coupons if I can
Annie – happy happy birthday!
Mo – I bought an orthotic for the PF at WalMart. It does make it feel better
barbie – big congrats on the Toyota.
Tracey – I know what you mean about men sanding! Vince decided to sand the door in the house. Then he’d have to take it to the garage to paint it. Why he couldn’t have sanded it in there is beyond me. After he was done, I had to wash all the sheets (he did it in the bedroom so he could close the door and the cats wouldn’t “help”. Why he couldn’t go outside and close the door to the house, I have no idea.) vacuum the floor, etc.
Vince just cut a piece of wood to go in front of the screen to the fireplace so that unmentionables won’t open the screen and go in the fireplace
Well, Lynette called to say that they'd be coming. I suspect she was thinking it was T day and not the day after.
Wasn't at the soup kitchen last week because they had a large group serving so they told the regular volunteers they didn't need to come in. Will go in tomorrow but they're closed next week.

Michele I wore those splints in 2016 as part of my doctor trying to figure out what caused my leg pain. Medicare paid for them. They were not the solution and I eventually had an MRI that diagnosed the real problem and reqired spine surgery. Another of my doctor's diagnostic tools was two weeks of no exercise. That was really hard for me. You and I both are energized by exercise
Annie and I are in the parking lot at the doctor's office. Jake has his follow up appointment with his primary doctor after his hospitalization at the beginning of the month. When he's done, I'll take him home along with Annie so I can pick up my friend to take her for her macular degeneration appointment. We'll stop to pick up her Wal Mart order. She got home late last night from six weeks in Texas where she had knee replacement surgery and this will allow her to replenish supplies. It's not raining so I can walk while she's at her appointment
🌻Lisa your craft room is what we all dream about. Your creativity is inspiring
🌻Lanette the new car is not a hybrid. We were limited by our budget. But it gets good mileage and we don't drive much.

Michelle - I am doing PT for the PF as well as my knees. My knees are in good shape, but I'll do PT as long as they'll let me to work on strength and balance. The surgeon told me for every month I was down, it takes 3 months to recover. I was down for 2 1/2 years....you do the math . The PF is mostly stretching and strengthening the feet. I wear my night splint every night on one foot. It has helped the most with the sharp pain when I get up in the morning and after sitting. I find it interesting how many of you are told to rest it to recover. Mine is to walk and do as much as I can. After 2-3 minutes, my pain is much reduced. It is greatly improved. I could stop PT, but I am still making progress so I'll keep going.

Well we got slammed by the storm although not a whole lot of property damage. Power went out Tuesday evening about 8:30 and has still not been restored. It is now 54* in the house. Freezer items are still frozen but fridge items are not as cold as they should be. We had two big trees go down, one at each end of our road. One has been cleaned up and the wires back up and we can drive out that way but the other one is huge, completely blocking the road and there are wires on the ground. The wind took down one panel of fencing for our goats and they went walkabout on the neighbors property Wednesday morning. The neighbors were able to herd them back through the break and propped a piece of plywood in the hole. Their blue heeler pup thought our goats were good fun. DD and I later put up a more secure temporary fence. DD was off work yesterday as they had no power where she works. Hopefully the storm we are supposed to have tomorrow won't add to the existing damage.
Heather - Happy anniversary!
Annie - Happy birthday!
Glad the rest of you in the PNW came through safe and sound. Anxious to get our power back but glad we are OK.
Everyone take care, Sue in WA11 -

Barbara AHMOD-my current plan is this will be last budget. I turned 70 a couple of weeks ago and think I am close to wanting to relax. I am checking out areas close to where I think I will be moving for volunteer activities, etc.
Got our first snow today. We had food pantry and the snow never stopped. Was so cold and wet after nearly two hours. Very busy-not certain of the final number yet. People were very grateful. While trying to keep my spirits up and forget my numb hand, I kept reminding myself how grateful I am to be providing the help and not needing it at this point.
Get to work from home tomorrow. Should make some good progress on budget. Need to put through some pay raise requests for a few people (updating some pay grades) so that will be nice (they aren't expecting it). Want new rates in effect before the pay adjustment for next year kicks in.
Well, I think I am going to go get under the blankets. The cold tired me out!
Take care all,

Got the splint today and put it on for a little, just to get adjusted, etc. It seems that my heel pain is reduced. Now was it the splint? I don't know. But I'll wear it tonight.

I don’t feel that I’ve had a good sleep in years. I wake up most days feeling like I was awake most of the night. This last week I’ve obviously slept because I’ve had dreams but it sure wasn’t a peaceful sleep.

I dream a lot and often wake up feeling like I have just completed a very busy day. Many of my dreams are of war and espionage. I'm usually leading up a team trying to get into/out of a sticky (sometimes quite scary) situation. Bicycles factor heavily in a lot of my dreams. Sometimes I'm just doing long distance rides, other times I'm using them as a part of war and espionage. It is the fourth car of my dreams (the first was a Ford Mustang when I was in my 20's, the second was a Buick Somerset Regal that was the first of the cars with a dashboard with digital readouts, and the third was a Mercedes Benz in my 40's purchased with money I inherited when my mother died).
Barbie in rainy windy NW WA
There's a side of you I don't think we've seen before!
I've never had a car of my dreams, and what I've had have mostly been vans or station wagons bought to hold things like bicycles. I drive a van now and quite like it.
But if I were to get the car of my dreams, it would be a Ford Mustang.
I am toying with the idea of getting a smaller car and reserving our van for longer trips, but if I decide to do that, whatever car I chose would be a lot less expensive than a Ford Mustang! I don't like doing car loans (prefer to pay cash) and don't have $35,000+ just sitting around.
Power & Internet: After our 4-hour power outage on Wednesday, my internet at home has been really slow. Finally this morning I decided to reset the router ... unplug for at least 15 seconds ... plug back in. And my internet is good again!
House Decorating: My husband put up the curtain rod and curtains in the bedroom and I love it! But we've decided to get a second set of the same curtains because we think the fullness would be better. They're dark blue velvet.
Garden: It's a nice day, so I'd better get out in the garden and see if I can progress my plan!!

Thank you all for your commiserations about Rodger sanding in the house. He changed his mind today and will do it in his shop. 🙄
Michele - the splint is to be worn at night, but it says not all night. I think because it is stretching your muscles out, it has to be done gradually.
A lot more to comment on but it’s a late night for me.

Top o’ the morning to y’all.
Busy all day. Latin Study Group this morning, then card making after lunch.
We have some snow on higher ground, but here on the coast it’s mostly rain with occasional sleet flurries. I’m into my winter clothes, as it’s still hovering around 2 *C.
Yesterday was mostly bright, and fairly calm, but very cold outside. I got lots of chores done inside.

I put my winter thermal, long-sleeved undergarment, on today. No snow here and no frost last night, but it has been freezing and the house cools down very quickly when the heating goes off. Lovely sun this morning, which warms my bedroom.
I wrote so much yesterday, it brought back my repetitive strain injury, so I gave myself the day off and went out to the shops. I bought Christmas stamps for cards, and posted a couple of homemade birthday cards out, one to my son and one to my DSIL. Focaccia and a Danish for John from the bakery, and a quick dash round local Sainsbury for bits and pieces. Then I called in at the Asian fish shop and butcher for frozen tilapia, that I use in fish soup with prawns. They are very nice in there. I also bought one of their giant garlics!
My knee survived the mile walk in total, and I could feel the muscles I have been exercising firing and getting tired. I think that's a good thing, as I have been targeting them, and trying to get them to take over. So I am pleased.
I've enjoyed texting my son in Nottingham over the last evening. He is an athletics coach, so I was able to ask him about my knee as well as send him pictures of our wedding anniversary. He is a very bad communicator, and I rarely hear from him, so it was cheering to have a little exchange. It's his birthday end of next week. I just put money in his account. I want to go up there, maybe in the spring, as I haven't seen him in ages. My knee needs to be strong enough for train travel and platform changes etc.

I went to bed at 8:45 p.m. and woke up at almost 3 a.m. I put a load of laundry in the machine and cleaned my floors with the swifter. I decided to make tea, and while the kettle was on, I emptied the dishwasher. Then I let Rose out, but it was cold outside, yet this crazy dog wanted me to walk her out in my ancient gown. I purchased this gown from Landsend almost thirty years ago. I remember removing it and swaddling my son in my gown so he would sleep with my scent. Can you believe it worked?! So now it has some holes, but I love to wear it when cold.
My DH hates this gown. I call it my granny gown. My granny reminded me of a little house on the prairie when she was alive. She wore a gown button-up to her neck and a white cotton bonnet with a long braid sticking out. I have a lot of her ways. My aunt asked her if my grandpa minded her dressing that way. She replied that she got pregnant 18 times, so apparently not. When my aunt confessed that she slept in the nude, Granny didn't like that. She called her a heifer. I didn't have the heart to tell her that her oldest son slept that way. After that, I grew up thinking it was wrong to sleep naked. My DH thinks I have some weird beliefs on that. Besides my infertility issues, I did get pregnant 6 times. I just had trouble keeping them. We took five losses to figure out how to keep my son in.
Sorry, guys, you probably figured out that I have ADHD. First, I get nostalgic about my gown, then my granny.
Back to my dog, I did go walking alone with my playlist going. I put Rose in day camp. I loved it! I finished my walk in less time, and my heart rate was 152. I cooled down with Elton John. I went to the market, but finding the things I love there was hard. I got Rose and me a rotisserie chicken and left. I finally got home, did strength training, and spoke to a friend. I organized my meds, too. Today, I will do Step Aerobics and work from home. I may need to cut down on Rose's day camp. They said that the dogs were too much for her, and she barked till they let her out to sleep in her room. Maybe the 3-mile walk was too much for her??? I think I will walk on the trail close to my house so I will not over-tax her. I bought Rose two Thanksgiving toys and bully sticks; she was happy to be home.
Sue, I am sorry about the storm damage and power outages. I hate to lose power. Typically, in MS, we lose control, too, when a storm hits. This time, it was not so bad.
Heather, you are on top of your shopping. I am thinking about getting DS either a new laptop or luggage. I may purchase her gift cards and bath stuff for DD for Christmas. For DH, I have no clue yet. As I am typing this, I just realized his B-day is in two days. Maybe a plant and clothes for the trip. We will be
in Florida on 12/13. Eddie sounds like a powerhouse. Next, she will play LaCrosse.
Terri, that is pretty cold. Where in the country do you live? I am sending hugs and prayers your way.
Tracey, I am so glad your DH decided to go to his shop to do the work. Does he need a heater in the shop? I am trying to understand why he wanted to do woodwork in the house in the first place.
Machka, you have inspired me to take the stairs at work. Like my co-workers, I do not want to get stuck in the elevator for four hours. Twenty-two flights of stairs are impressive.
Pip, I love your Chispa.
Lisa, Your family will love the items you made. Does your family live in Hawaii? I am so excited about your next project or business venture.
Next time, I will tell you about my gas station scare.

I spent over 2 hours in the garden today wielding my mattock. I've got sore shoulders now.
We have something like sea wheat grass in our lawn - I'm not 100% sure what it is. Most of our lawn is this stuff. It's horrible! It grows long, long thick roots with sharp bits, but the roots are shallow and the "grass" grows up out of the roots. So I can pull one end, and lift up a 2 or 3 feet length of root with grass bits. I am trying to dig it out bit by bit.
Imagine a fake Christmas wreath - it's something like that in texture and the root is like the wire that makes the wreath round.
Then we went for a bicycle ride.

Lisa - I bought my Vera Bradley bag at Macy's over a decade ago. The "innards"' are very similar to how you are making yours. What I really like about mine is that it has an adjustable shoulder strap. Since that's fabric too, it's starting to get a little frayed and worn but I think I'm the only one that notices.
Sue - I hope your power is back on. Looks like another round of wind today, not as bad as Tuesday's. I'm trying to think positive and crossing fingers that all of the trees and branches that were going to fall on the power lines did so on Tuesday so today there won't be anything left to mess us up. Nice of your neighbor to help round up the goats. Glad your DD was home to help.
Barbie - isn't it great not to have to put a lot of miles on our cars? No work commute is wonderful - I had a 50 mile round trip for years. I had new tires put on both of my old cars 2 years ago, and just realized I haven't rotated them yet. But then I haven't driven either of them 3,000 miles which is the recommended time to do it.
Michele - good luck with your PF. Sorry that you've been forced to cut back on your walking, hope you can resume soon.
Make it a great day, ladies!

Morning, kidlins...
Well... got my shelves up, but need to swan my happy behind down to Lowes one more time this morning and pick up an eight-foot end board. Picture of my progress in the spoiler:It's definitely not perfect, or completely level... The end board will stand up and be attached to the shelf ends at right, to stabilize and make it look more finished. Will also give me a way to string a rod from the back wall over the shelves to hang purses and handbags so they stay in good shape. The biggest PITA was that there is not a single straight line or level surface in this old house, so I literally had to readjust the shelves to be as close to level as I could get them, but still stay true to the surface they're on. Harder to get wood to work with uneven surfaces than fabric! 👀😃😹I'll have to wait and paint the shelves in the spring, when I can get some good cross ventilation, but that's OK, they're still usable as they are - though I'll probably get some shelf paper for the interim.
Barbie - Thank you for that lovely compliment. I feel quite guilty sometimes, as I don't want folks to think I'm saying "look what I've got," and bragging. But I remember that Corey and I worked so hard to get to this place where both of our inclinations to build and change and improve things can be indulged. Not everyone's cup of tea, but it's definitely ours!
Tracey - Just a thought, because it sounds like something Corey would do... is it possible that Rodger was just trying to goose you by saying he was going to do something he knew you would hate, like sanding in the house? Took me a long time to figure out that nine times out of ten (if not more!) Corey's kidding with stuff like that. Certain manly-men types seem to feel any attention is good attention, and if we're irritated with them, we're paying attention. Like I said, just a thought.
Sue - Hope you get your power back soon! Being cold all day is just miserable.
Mo - I love reading your stuff, and have no issues following your leaps of thought... and look forward to the gas station story. And speaking of stories...
Have to go find my gloves before I head for Lowes. Not in that much of a hurry, as I want to give some time for the contractors that infest the lumber section to come and go. I don't mind them helping, but one called me "little lady" on Wednesday when he was helping me load shelves into my already loaded car. The patronizing tones kinda get up my nose. I got rid of that one when he asked me if "someone" was building shelves, and I answered, "Yep, the boards are for me, and the beer is for my husband!" Peeled him right off like a wart. 😶👀😂
Okay, kids... I've got to put some lotion on my feet and hands, as the 33 degrees outside translates to dry air inside from the heat. And with lotion on, I slide off the keyboard! 😹😽
Later, my dears,
Love,

When I was first married to my first husband we visited a couple he knew and I didn't. Their house was filled with new matching furniture and appliances while we lived in a furnished apartment with a lot of mismatched stuff. At first I was envious and then I found out that they had bought everything on time and were paying $5.00 a month on each of the items. It was a great learning experience for me. What we have we have worked for and saved for and waited for.

Went to. Back doctor yesterday. I like it when the doc says I don’t have to come back any more, but hate it when they say I have to live with it and it will never get better. 3 more sessions of PT then done with him unless something changes for the worse. I kinda figured it would never really get better, I just want to manage the pain of it. So back brace whenever I do any ‘work’ (walking, driving, shopping, housework if I had a house, stuff like that) and yoga whenever I can is all I can do right now. He said that if the pain gets worse, or intolerable, he will send me to a pain management center (means shots in the back. Been to one before for back spasms). So for now, nothing more to do. So this morning, I’ve already done a 40 minute walk (2.5 mile walk) and will do another 20 minute walk after I get off this. I am going to try to get DH to do some yoga with me later tonight. He has more pain than I do but won’t do anything about it, so maybe I can get him to do yoga. Not much room in the RV, but, there are some we can try. Yesterday walked 7545 steps, even with going to town! The nurse even said that I looked in shape (?😳) and to use the apps I have and look up back exercises since I know how to use my phone. (lol 😝) Made me feel good!
DH lost the keys to the John Deer Gator the park lets us use so need to work on finding those. I think there are in his pants or jacket that is buried in his clothes pile. That is the biggest thing I need to get done today. Walk first for reservations, then lunch, then I’ll find my yoga block and help him look for the keys.

Hello! ... I've been following along, but by the time I can reply, everything has been said that I would've said!
Annie ... Happy Belated Birthday
Machka ... my grandfather had a Ford Mustang back when I was a teenager ... probably the mid-late 70's. I loved that car and have wanted one ever since. Today's new price, by the way, is $62,000 dollars. I won't be getting one anytime soon. And frankly, I really liked the style of the older ones better!
Mo ... I love your posts ... you just let your thoughts and memories flow and I sit back to hear a good story!
Lisa ... "Little Lady!" I've never been called "little!" Never! But depending on the tone, "honey" is a word that sends me.
I have been busy, but can't tell you with what simply because I can't remember. Many, way too many, friends are ill or have died in the last 2 months. Five funerals since September and probably another one coming. My mom, however, is very stable and doing well for the most part. She did blindside me with a very aggressive and angry episode a couple of weeks ago. Something right out of an Alzheimer's medication commercial. The next day there was no mention of it. I spoke with her team yesterday at a scheduled review meeting and they were shocked saying they've never witnessed anything like that with her, but they do know that residents often save that behavior for family. Most likely she just needed to vent. Her world is shrinking and her frustrations are increasing. I get it. I also now know how to redirect conversations!
It's a rainy, cold day here and I'm not leaving the house. Laundry, reorganizing pantry, trying to get things in order as we enter the holidays. Made a peach pie type of dessert this morning ... which ran over onto the oven floor ... and I'm getting ready to make some wild rice and mushroom soup.
Thinking of you all,
Beth near Buffalo

I have to pack a sleeping gown when I visit my sisters next week. Her routine is to sit in her covered patio and sip her morning coffee still in her sleeping clothes. I always borrow some sort of fleece coat to put over my satin gown. I need the satiny feel or I feel claustrophobic not being able to move around the bed at night. I am a heifer, lol, I sleep in the nude at home.😁

I love it when a plan comes together! The Navy saw fit to align the stars to get youngest son and eldest son together! Don't know what they did, or how long they got to visit, but I got a photo I demanded as proof.💖🤗⚓👍🏼

Dang it, woke up this morning with the vertigo in full swing - was swaying while I was doing the alphabet with my toes, even! Also had a gut explosion, in far too literal a sense, after I wrote to y'all earlier. Are they associated? I don't know.
But, I got the Epley maneuver done after I posted here, and it helped enough that I was able to get to Lowes and back. Unfortunately, though, the lumber is staying put in my Kicks for today.
And yes, if you slide it up through the back seat and over the console, my little baby SUV will accommodate an eight-foot board. Love that.
So for the afternoon, I am going to go sit and crochet and watch some baking shows, and keep my head as still as I can in between doing the Epley every hour or two. First, though, a couple of Tylenol for the headache that's accompanying all this.
Grf.
