Rebecca - That must cheer your heart! <3

    Allie - A baby's smile. Makes everything better. :)<3

Lisa - Sorry for the hitch in proceedings. Boo!

No ill effects from my walk today, apart from sore muscles. Will have a good exercise session tomorrow morning to stretch everything out.
Weather warming up overnight. The North are getting gales and snow. I think we will be OK down here.

Tracey – I wore the splint last night. But not for that long.

Soup kitchen today. It was COLD outside, but surprisingly we didn’t have a lot of guests inside. It was pretty steady. Some days it seems to come in spurts. But I did get to take some tomatoes home and some pineapple that they’d put out for the guests but no one took. I took the tomatoes because they were already sliced and they didn’t feel they would last the weekend. Personally, I think they would have, but I got nice looking tomatoes for free so I’m not complaining

I totally forgot that Jess said that she and four friends were coming, spending the night here and going to a concert. So here I was, late last night, hurry up and vacuumed, swiffer the floors a bit. Well, we’ll manage

Mo – I’m so sorry you had trouble keeping your babies. I’m sure that has something to do with the fact that you take such excellent care of babies at your work

Rita – regardless of how much pain Vince may be in, there is no way on this green earth I could get him to do some yoga (or pilates, for that matter). Good luck with your dh. I know Vince’s feeling is “real men don’t do yoga”. Yea, right…..

Lisa – so sorry to hear of your “whirlies”. They keep telling me that if I ever get them, to contact the MD because that might mean the tumor is growing. Fortunately, it hasn’t grown in 6 years.

Jess came here, she, Colby and 4 of her friends are going to a concert in Asheville and spending the night here. We’re waiting for her friends to get here. Not sure what we’re doing for dinner. Took Ganon for a walk, really didn’t want to but I knew that if I didn’t, Jess would get upset when I told her why, so I just did it. It was so cold (for here) outside and with the wind blowing, reminded me why I don’t want a dog. Just made ravioli for Jess and Vince.

Her friends came here and left for the concert. Jess stayed here. I thought she’d go with them but maybe it’s something that doesn’t interest her.

Ginny ~ Your grandbaby is CUTE!

Allie ~ Delia just gets cuter and cuter with that happy smile.

Tracey ~ Those plates are something else. Hope you do very well at your show today. Enjoy reading about the adventures you have gone through.

MO ~ My sister in law passed away when our son was a year old after trying for the 5th time to deliver a healthy baby. We will never know why she was unable to go for a full term but sounds a lot like what you went through. I am glad you were finally able to get two healthy babies. We all love your stories.

Beth ~ Condolences for all the people you have had passing away since Sept. We have felt the same way this year as we have lost 4 people in our family that we were close to. Glad that the people on your mom's care team notice her ups and downs and informs you. Sorry she had a bad episode when you visited.

Edie 's goggles arrived this morning. I was not impressed with the packaging for such an expensive item. The box was a bit crushed. I managed to straighten it out, but I don't know how they can send something out in just a plastic bag. It was a Royal Mail delivery.
Huge Amazon delivery this afternoon. We had a bit of banter with the poor delivery guy about having to ask my husband's age for the Pernod. I felt sorry for him in the cold and wet, a gale blowing. :# My mug arrived to be a pair with John's present. We are giving three old ones we never use to the charity shop to make space. They were a present from his daughter, but not our style now. :) I was surprised he was happy to let go of them.
Also some real hot chocolate flakes, 100%, to use with the mugs. I expect it to need some sugar at that intensity! You stir it into hot milk. Very Italian!
I'm slowly collecting a few bits for John's Santa presents. The anniversary was a triumph for presents, but I don't think I can keep up the standard. ;) So I've started with old favourites. Cocoa dusted truffles and stem ginger biscuits.

Lamb shanks tonight. An hour in the IP. A glass of red wine in the stew. Haven't had them in ages, but they seem perfect for the weather. Brussels sprouts with them.
John cooked the last of our own plums today to free up freezer space for my Christmas cooking.
Even John didn't go out for a walk in the gale today. Very unusual!

Just about to start his present to me. Biography. 'The Adventures of Miss Barbara Pym'. I've just finished a fifth book of hers.

If anyone is interested in a glimpse into M&S, that I go to a lot, then have a look at YouTube. 'Mr Carrington'. My M&S is small and doesn't carry all the ranges, but it gives you an idea. Certainly makes any Christmas entertaining, if one is so inclined, a lot easier. Definitely not me, apart from the grandchildren's pancake orgy on Christmas Eve. My gluten free sprinkles have arrived for the ice cream pancakes. Bea is most excited about those and especially asked for them. I have to get GF for Edie.

Good TV tonight. 3 things clashing, and I can only record 2 at once, so we will watch one of the ones without adverts. Before that I have a recording of Poirot.

My friend G is in Oxford, at a friend's daughter's Thanksgiving dinner. The friend is American. She is excited about it. The daughter does the whole works.

Heather - I was thinking I needed to get stamps too, but our postal workers are on strike. They seem to do this every couple of years at Christmas time.
Does your son in Nottingham ever get to come see you? How far away is it?

Mo - he does have a heater in his shop, it’s still cool because it’s a shed that doesn’t have insulation under the floor. We have put down the foam puzzle mats but at -19C it’s still cool. He was just being a bit lazy I think and didn’t want to move the tools to give himself room.

Machka - that grass sounds awful!

Lisa - I wish that he had been kidding, I thought he was at first but his reaction when I told him how much work it would make for me told me he wasn’t.
    I love your shelving!
I need to find my gloves, when I redid the kitchen in the Spring I put them “in a safe place”. 🤷‍♀️ 😂😳
I hope tomorrow is a better day for you.

Barbie - I think a lot of people fall into the have to have it now trap of those places.

Rita - sorry to hear the pain won’t get better, hopefully it is manageable.

Ford Mustang story - I had a friend, he was actually my first serious boyfriend, I fell in love with his mom and he became like a brother to me. Anyway the year I was expecting Kaitlyn I decided to have a Christmas party and invited him. He arrived in his new mustang, later in the evening his car needed to be moved and I was the only sober person that could drive a standard, he had parked on ice and when it finally decided to move for me it slid into the neighbours chain link fence. I was so upset, he was like it’s all good! Just giving it a story!
Too many times I’ve been the only sober one that knew how to drive a standard too many girls I knew didn’t want to learn, some guys too. My dad and grandfather wouldn’t let me get my licence until I learned.

Beth - sorry for all of your losses, glad your mom is settling in though.

Rebecca - I feel claustrophobic in night clothes as well, I never thought of the satin idea though for my sleepover wear.
How wonderful your boys were able to visit.

Michele - that’s a lot of people for a drop in sleepover. It’s the type of thing I love though.

I am at a craft show tonight it’s a ladies night. The table fee was only $15. I wouldn’t have been happy if it was more. I did sell 6 ornaments and one pen. I also bought a Christmas decoration for myself.
It’s the one of the first songs I remember my grandmother learning to play on the piano.
    It was only $15.
    ffrbf8ppmbam.jpeg

There was a young girl here selling plates with funny sayings in them.

I have a long drive home and then I’ll have to leave early in the morning for another show. I’m looking forward to Sunday.

    Those plates are hilarious!!
Thanks for the morning giggle with my coffee!

Tracey- those plates are hilarious.. I would have bought one for each of my friends for Christmas if they weren't to pricey..
Rita- Miles calls Delia D Delia sticks the extra D in there ,what a hoot..
I got the garbage together and picked up some..
The girls and I are going out tonight for dinner.. but i wont be drinking..I rarely drink anymore.maybe a glass of cranberry juice with a splash of gingerale for the festivity.

Lisa - sure hope you are doing better today. Hearing about you hauling 8' boards in your car reminded me I might need to get a couple 8' 1x2's at Home Depot for the chicken run. They fit just fine in the Subaru too. :p

Rita - what type of exercises is the PT having you do for your back? Bridging? My lower back is still grumpy and I even took an ibuprofen when I went to bed. Did my bridging and stretching yesterday which did help a bit.

Tracey - those plates are a hoot. Glad you sold some items at the show and that's a nice Christmas decoration you found. Good luck at today's show. ;)

Sue - hope your power is back on.

    Vicki - thinking of you!

Tracey – I really wish I knew how to drive a standard. Hilarious plates

Same for me – others saying what I was going to say

Got up, took Ganon out to just relieve himself. Jess must have taken him out later the night before because he didn’t have to go quite that bad when I took him. Took him a while to find “the” spot. When he was here before, it didn’t take him near as long. Everyone left shortly after I got back from work. I asked them to be sure to come back

Vince still insists that Fred is traumatized by Ganon because he remembers what Ganon did. Deb - can this be possible? He got upset with me because I was saying how I don't think the cats need to eat moist food at night because when I get up in the morning, there have been (to me) a lot of times when there was maybe 1/2 a dish remaining. He wants to start "documenting" how much food there is. How he can do this, I don't know. They might eat overnight. Whatever.... He said "then you'll see that you're wrong". I just said "or we'll see that I'm right".

Not much else. Trying to stay off my foot as much as possible. What a pain!

Hello! ... I've been following along, but by the time I can reply, everything has been said that I would've said!

    [b

Machka ... my grandfather had a Ford Mustang back when I was a teenager ... probably the mid-late 70's. I loved that car and have wanted one ever since. Today's new price, by the way, is $62,000 dollars. I won't be getting one anytime soon. And frankly, I really liked the style of the older ones better!

    Thinking of you all,
    Beth near Buffalo

I had a '68 Mustang when dh and I first got married. I had to teach him how to drive a stick shift. We planned on totally restoring it but then he found too much rust on the frame rail. That was such a fun car to drive.

Have been reading but kept getting distracted and didn't respond- sorry.

Has been raining here since Wed. A little break for part of today but more rain coming through Wed(that is the last I heard). 17 inches of rain in 72hrs up by mom's. I don't know how much we got. Not quite as much as them but a lot.

No daycare girl this week- The days I usually have her are holidays. I offered to watch her Wed and Friday but grandma will watch her- that is fine- I still get paid.

Dh's birthday is Wed. I will take him out to lunch some place, unless he decides to go out with his friend instead. I have zumba that night- half work out half snack time for Thanksgiving.

Going to try and catch up here- 2 pages behind

Dh and cats- I don't understand mine, or yours.
Mine is feeding them canned food after I fed them almost every time- They want more wet food- of course they do- They need it just twice a day and dry food the rest of the time. Lately it has been an issue because he is feeding the old grandma cat in the bedroom while I have her food with imodium in it in the kitchen. She eats a lot but I need her eating the one with the meds first or it will be an hour or so until she wants to eat it all. Same thing in the evenings. With 12 cats, we are buying canned food all the time and usually by the case. Everything revolves around the cats.

Ladies, thank you for your concern. I was put into a medically induced coma because of a really bad asthma attack that resulted in total respiratory and kidney failure. I went in on Christmas Day. They woke me up around the end of January. Because of the many steroids and other mind-altering drugs they used while I was intubated, I had a month long hallucination. I went to rehab for 2 weeks and came home walking with the aid of a rollator. Because I was in the coma so long, I lost most of my muscle strength. My back could not support my body so I had a lot of work to do to be able to walk. I also lost a couple of months of memory. The doctor at one point in rehab said “You realize you lost your mind and we helped you do that.” So, I had detox for the drugs, physical therapy for my body, and mental therapy for my mind.

DH believes that I’m allergic to Christmas fragrances including the tree fragrance. I am allergic to most fragrances, but I think the holiday season is just especially full of wonderful smells. One thing I had never experienced was PTSD from being in critical care and on the steroids. I was angry all the time. Thank goodness my doctor noted my changed attitude and gave me some educational material and medication.

All said and done, I now feel physically and mentally better than I had in a long time.

It might not be the fragrances so much as the dust. I'm allergic to dust mites and so are a whole lot of other people. It's a very common allergy. As soon as the Christmas decorations appear in stores and at work, my nose starts running, my eyes get all itchy, and my asthma acts up. My eyes have really been bothering me lately, and I know why. I even take allergy meds before I decorate my own house for Christmas.

Christmas decorations just sit out there collecting dust for 1-2 months ... in some cases even 3 months if they go up in September. No one dusts them or cleans them ... how would you clean tinsel? Then they're put away, teaming with dust mites, into a place where the dust mites can increase until they're brought out again and hung and draped all over the place, scattering dust and dust mites everywhere.

When we used a "normal" artificial tree, I sprayed it with eucalyptus spray before I put it away and again when I brought it out. Evidently it is supposed to help. Now we use a different sort of tree, and I have less of a reaction to it.

When DH broke his back, they gave him Tramadol for a painkiller, which made him angry and acting similar to how Rodger acted. DH didn't even remember.
    Lanette B)
    SW WA State

I was given Tramadol and Promethazine/Phenergan when I had measles or whatever it was in 2016 ... a massive head to toe itchy/painful rash. I had a really bad night where I could not wear anything and could not lie down or sit down. I spent the night standing and pacing. In the morning, I dressed very lightly (despite the fact that it was winter) and my husband took me to a clinic. That was the first time I ever heard a doctor say, "Oh WOW!" when I showed him the rash. Anyway, I took the Tramadol and Promethazine/Phenergan and basically disappeared for 2 days which was probably the best thing for me.

I don't mind them helping, but one called me "little lady" on Wednesday when he was helping me load shelves into my already loaded car. The patronizing tones kinda get up my nose.
    Later, my dears,
    Love, Lisa in AR

On our flight back from Canada to New Zealand, we were in Premium Economy, in the set of 4 seats in the middle. My husband was on one aisle, a man was on the other, and a woman and me were in the middle. She was really overbearing and was busy coming on to the man next to her, despite that they were both apparently married to other people (based on their conversation). It got to the point where she was almost in his lap and I was about to suggest they adjourn to the toilet. :no_mouth:

But setting that aside, I was all comfortable in my seat starting a movie, when she tapped my arm (one I had in a bandage wrap because of elbow bursitis) and asked me where to plug in her headphones. I pointed at the arm of her chair, she saw what I meant and then grabbed my bandaged arm, leaned in to me, and squealed, "Thanks! You're going to be my little helper on this trip!!!"

I thought, "Nope!" and put my headphones on.

Too many times I’ve been the only sober one that knew how to drive a standard too many girls I knew didn’t want to learn, some guys too. My dad and grandfather wouldn’t let me get my licence until I learned.

My father got me a standard Ford Escort when I was in my late teens and I learned to drive it.
A few years later, my first husband and I had a standard Honda, which I drove now and then.

A number of years later, I was on a 3-month cycling tour in Australia and decided to hire a vehicle for a few days. It didn't occur to me that the rental place in the small town would not have automatic vehicles, yet there I was, in the parking lot getting set to go when I realised it was a standard!! And not only a standard, the shifter was on the left side! Plus the driver's seat was on the right and I would be driving on the left.

On my first day with it, I "parked" where I stalled it. I'd drive into a small town, look for a place to park, stall it somewhere in the vicinity of the curb and call it done for a while.
The second day was some better and by the third day, I was feeling quite comfortable.

Christmas Gifts - just the kids: our granddaughter, nieces, and nephew. We adults don't really need anything

Cats - Rhody gets wet food twice a day and dry to graze on the rest of the day. Sometimes we have to throw wet food away, just the way it goes. Usually it means he wasn't so fond of whatever it was.

Annie, I'm glad your sister was able to be there for your birthday.

Ginny, I'm glad you're feeling better. And Happy Birthday!

    Lisa, I like the shelving.

    Heather, Happy Anniversary!
