Aw, Allie, she's such a cutie!3
-
Rebecca - That must cheer your heart!
Allie - A baby's smile. Makes everything better.
Lisa - Sorry for the hitch in proceedings. Boo!
No ill effects from my walk today, apart from sore muscles. Will have a good exercise session tomorrow morning to stretch everything out.
Weather warming up overnight. The North are getting gales and snow. I think we will be OK down here.

Tracey – I wore the splint last night. But not for that long.
Soup kitchen today. It was COLD outside, but surprisingly we didn’t have a lot of guests inside. It was pretty steady. Some days it seems to come in spurts. But I did get to take some tomatoes home and some pineapple that they’d put out for the guests but no one took. I took the tomatoes because they were already sliced and they didn’t feel they would last the weekend. Personally, I think they would have, but I got nice looking tomatoes for free so I’m not complaining
I totally forgot that Jess said that she and four friends were coming, spending the night here and going to a concert. So here I was, late last night, hurry up and vacuumed, swiffer the floors a bit. Well, we’ll manage
Mo – I’m so sorry you had trouble keeping your babies. I’m sure that has something to do with the fact that you take such excellent care of babies at your work
Rita – regardless of how much pain Vince may be in, there is no way on this green earth I could get him to do some yoga (or pilates, for that matter). Good luck with your dh. I know Vince’s feeling is “real men don’t do yoga”. Yea, right…..
Lisa – so sorry to hear of your “whirlies”. They keep telling me that if I ever get them, to contact the MD because that might mean the tumor is growing. Fortunately, it hasn’t grown in 6 years.
Jess came here, she, Colby and 4 of her friends are going to a concert in Asheville and spending the night here. We’re waiting for her friends to get here. Not sure what we’re doing for dinner. Took Ganon for a walk, really didn’t want to but I knew that if I didn’t, Jess would get upset when I told her why, so I just did it. It was so cold (for here) outside and with the wind blowing, reminded me why I don’t want a dog. Just made ravioli for Jess and Vince.
Her friends came here and left for the concert. Jess stayed here. I thought she’d go with them but maybe it’s something that doesn’t interest her.

Heather - I was thinking I needed to get stamps too, but our postal workers are on strike. They seem to do this every couple of years at Christmas time.
Does your son in Nottingham ever get to come see you? How far away is it?
Mo - he does have a heater in his shop, it’s still cool because it’s a shed that doesn’t have insulation under the floor. We have put down the foam puzzle mats but at -19C it’s still cool. He was just being a bit lazy I think and didn’t want to move the tools to give himself room.
Machka - that grass sounds awful!
Lisa - I wish that he had been kidding, I thought he was at first but his reaction when I told him how much work it would make for me told me he wasn’t.
I love your shelving!
I need to find my gloves, when I redid the kitchen in the Spring I put them “in a safe place”. 🤷♀️ 😂😳
I hope tomorrow is a better day for you.
Barbie - I think a lot of people fall into the have to have it now trap of those places.
Rita - sorry to hear the pain won’t get better, hopefully it is manageable.
Ford Mustang story - I had a friend, he was actually my first serious boyfriend, I fell in love with his mom and he became like a brother to me. Anyway the year I was expecting Kaitlyn I decided to have a Christmas party and invited him. He arrived in his new mustang, later in the evening his car needed to be moved and I was the only sober person that could drive a standard, he had parked on ice and when it finally decided to move for me it slid into the neighbours chain link fence. I was so upset, he was like it’s all good! Just giving it a story!
Too many times I’ve been the only sober one that knew how to drive a standard too many girls I knew didn’t want to learn, some guys too. My dad and grandfather wouldn’t let me get my licence until I learned.
Beth - sorry for all of your losses, glad your mom is settling in though.
Rebecca - I feel claustrophobic in night clothes as well, I never thought of the satin idea though for my sleepover wear.
How wonderful your boys were able to visit.
Michele - that’s a lot of people for a drop in sleepover. It’s the type of thing I love though.
I am at a craft show tonight it’s a ladies night. The table fee was only $15. I wouldn’t have been happy if it was more. I did sell 6 ornaments and one pen. I also bought a Christmas decoration for myself.
It’s the one of the first songs I remember my grandmother learning to play on the piano.
It was only $15.
There was a young girl here selling plates with funny sayings in them.
This is an example:
I have a long drive home and then I’ll have to leave early in the morning for another show. I’m looking forward to Sunday.

Mo: I live near the Coast in Northern Ireland, (UK). Very cold weather is a rare occurrence, especially near the coast. I like your stream of consciousness writing.
Allie: 🥰 Delia is such a sunny girl. I see much resemblance between her and Miles.
Heather: It seems that you are well on your way to back to fitness. I’m also adding layers during the day as the days get colder. We have good insulation in our house, but in this weather, the house does get decidedly cooler.
Lisa: 🥰 the new setup. Sorry you’re having a flare up.
Beth: I know what you mean. By the time I get round to reading posts others have already said what I was going to say. 😂
I’m planning an active rest weekend. Just my usual Saturday trip to our local shops., and a visit to DED tomorrow to take some of her birthday presents up to her.
Otherwise, stay indoors as there is heavy cloud colour, and it’s still very cold today. There is a snow and ice warning, but that will probably only be on high ground inland.
It’s so uninviting outside that I’m back in bed after my morning workout, snuggled under the covers.
🤗🤗🤗 and 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 for those who need them.

Good morning beautiful ladies!
My sister got back to Tennessee safely. She helped me go through the excess linens that my mom collected, so now there is room for my clothes in the front room. But there is still a lot of sorting to do with my old clothes.
I've been reading along but I think the function that keeps my place is unreliable. Love and cheer to all of you, and thanks for the birthday wishes!
Dad was confused yesterday. He asked me if I was renting an apartment. I have lived with him ten years now. I wonder if he had another microbleed in his brain. The other day he told us he had won a Novel prize. Oh well. No use guessing what course his disease might take.
My sister found some lovely simple religious picture books for him. But yesterday he got into one of my romance books and read thirty pages!
So I'm behind on my laundry and dishes. Time to get caught up today.
Have a great day, and may you all be happy, healthy, safe and free!

Good morning ladies:
Slept in until 4:30 (progress for this week!)
Like several of you, comments I am thinking have been made!
Lisa-sorry to hear you are having a set back. Hopefully the spell does not last long. It seems like the space between them is getting longer.
Tracey-the plates are cute! Sorry you didn't sell more-hopefully the next show is better. My mom used to do alot of craft shows and it seems like there was no predicting what would happen.
Terri-I have always wanted to visit Ireland. From our limited search of our roots, I believe great-great grandparents on father's side were from County Tyronne. I research as I get a chance. I have always felt drawn there. When we were in England we never made it over.
Going to grocery a bit later today than my normal 6 am. I like getting it over with but I need to pick up pick up prescription at drug store which is next to grocery-will just make one trip to both.
As many have mentioned, the first cold is bothering me! Guess it is part of this aging process! I am thankful I have a warm house and clothes for a variety of temperatures!
Wanted to share a picture of my youngest grandchild. She is also a very happy baby. Parents are calling this her first school picture because it was a daycare shoot.
Off to get some morning stretches in. Slowly getting body back in shape from surgery in late 22, both bouts of covid in 23 and my foot! The medication change for my thyroid due to it impacting my body after 28 years has some other impacts. It has made me physically feel better and is better for my heart but has impacted my metabolism. So I have to balance it all and do what I can! Still better than I was years ago.
Take care all,
Ginny in Ohio6 -
Ginny ~ Your grandbaby is CUTE!
Allie ~ Delia just gets cuter and cuter with that happy smile.
Tracey ~ Those plates are something else. Hope you do very well at your show today. Enjoy reading about the adventures you have gone through.
MO ~ My sister in law passed away when our son was a year old after trying for the 5th time to deliver a healthy baby. We will never know why she was unable to go for a full term but sounds a lot like what you went through. I am glad you were finally able to get two healthy babies. We all love your stories.
Beth ~ Condolences for all the people you have had passing away since Sept. We have felt the same way this year as we have lost 4 people in our family that we were close to. Glad that the people on your mom's care team notice her ups and downs and informs you. Sorry she had a bad episode when you visited.

Morning, my chickens,
Egg is being very clingy this morning, refused to go outside - but then, I wouldn't want to go potty where it's freezing either. She has one of my socks trapped under her, and is holding it for ransom until I pet her for long enough. She also likes my little portable electric heater, which blows right on her when she's in my lap. I love how transparent cats are. Pet me now! The older she gets the more insistent she gets.
Egg in spoiler:
Ginny - What a little sweetheart! It sounds as if the medical stuff is working well, glad to see you inching toward retirement. And you're right, the bad days are getting further and further apart. And of shorter (and less violent) duration, as well. It gives me hope.
Tracey - Love it when someone combines classic images with pithy, clever sayings. Do you ever wonder what kind of muck and dreck these men would live in if they weren't married to us? I do. Corey does some things that just fracture me on occasion. We'd probably been married three or four years when he reached up to his nose and flicked some moisture ONTO THE LIVING ROOM RUG. I lost it, and he was amazed that it bothered me. He said, in his defense that it was "only nose water, not a booger!" That saved him, 'cause it made me laugh. It does still give me pause when I wonder if he does it when I'm not in the room. Lordie.
Beth - I'm so sorry you've lost so many this year. Not the way you want to spend any year, attending funeral after funeral. On the "little lady" crack from that guy, patronizing takes many forms, doesn't it?
Makes me feel just like this cat.
Terri - I don't mind a bit of cold weather, as long as I can get warm inside the house, like you! It's right at 32f/0c right now, supposed to warm up this afternoon, and even more tomorrow, but then will be back to 29/-1 by next weekend. And the actual start of winter still nearly a month away.
Mo - I'm so sorry you went through so many miscarriages. Always felt I was lucky that, while I couldn't have kids, I didn't have serial miscarriages like so many women I knew. In fact, it's how I met my best friend when I was 23 - we met in the fertility doctor's office, both there for the same reason. Her treatment worked - she had two kids. Mine didn't - I had to marry my kids' dad 26 years later. Now there are people in this world who call me "Mama," and small people who call me "Gramily," (or Grandma Lee) because I don't answer to anything else. It didn't have to work out well - but it did. I'm terribly grateful for that. When my best friend found I was marrying into kids, she burst into tears, because she'd worried all those years about me dying alone someday.
As y'all can probably tell, this storyteller is back to telling stories, as I'm feeling distinctly better than yesterday. Once Corey's awake and I won't wake him with the banging around, I'll go out and move his truck so I can use the carport, and use the circular saw to make the few cuts I still need to make to get these shelves finished. I'll get him to do the ladder work - still got just a whisper of the dizziness/vertigo, enough that I don't want to be on a ladder. Should be able to have all the pieces together so he can put it up easily.
Yeep, there's Corey, only and hour and a half after I got up...
Later, my dears,
Love,
Lisa in AR

Edie 's goggles arrived this morning. I was not impressed with the packaging for such an expensive item. The box was a bit crushed. I managed to straighten it out, but I don't know how they can send something out in just a plastic bag. It was a Royal Mail delivery.
Huge Amazon delivery this afternoon. We had a bit of banter with the poor delivery guy about having to ask my husband's age for the Pernod. I felt sorry for him in the cold and wet, a gale blowing. My mug arrived to be a pair with John's present. We are giving three old ones we never use to the charity shop to make space. They were a present from his daughter, but not our style now. I was surprised he was happy to let go of them.
Also some real hot chocolate flakes, 100%, to use with the mugs. I expect it to need some sugar at that intensity! You stir it into hot milk. Very Italian!
I'm slowly collecting a few bits for John's Santa presents. The anniversary was a triumph for presents, but I don't think I can keep up the standard. So I've started with old favourites. Cocoa dusted truffles and stem ginger biscuits.
Lamb shanks tonight. An hour in the IP. A glass of red wine in the stew. Haven't had them in ages, but they seem perfect for the weather. Brussels sprouts with them.
John cooked the last of our own plums today to free up freezer space for my Christmas cooking.
Even John didn't go out for a walk in the gale today. Very unusual!
Just about to start his present to me. Biography. 'The Adventures of Miss Barbara Pym'. I've just finished a fifth book of hers.
If anyone is interested in a glimpse into M&S, that I go to a lot, then have a look at YouTube. 'Mr Carrington'. My M&S is small and doesn't carry all the ranges, but it gives you an idea. Certainly makes any Christmas entertaining, if one is so inclined, a lot easier. Definitely not me, apart from the grandchildren's pancake orgy on Christmas Eve. My gluten free sprinkles have arrived for the ice cream pancakes. Bea is most excited about those and especially asked for them. I have to get GF for Edie.
Good TV tonight. 3 things clashing, and I can only record 2 at once, so we will watch one of the ones without adverts. Before that I have a recording of Poirot.
My friend G is in Oxford, at a friend's daughter's Thanksgiving dinner. The friend is American. She is excited about it. The daughter does the whole works.

Yes, its so great seeing them two together. They get along so well, and I knew both needed the visit. With youngest dealing with Crohn's and eldest just not enjoying "carrier life" both needed brother time!

Tracey- those plates are hilarious.. I would have bought one for each of my friends for Christmas if they weren't to pricey..
Rita- Miles calls Delia D Delia sticks the extra D in there ,what a hoot..
I got the garbage together and picked up some..
The girls and I are going out tonight for dinner.. but i wont be drinking..I rarely drink anymore.maybe a glass of cranberry juice with a splash of gingerale for the festivity.1 -
Lisa - sure hope you are doing better today. Hearing about you hauling 8' boards in your car reminded me I might need to get a couple 8' 1x2's at Home Depot for the chicken run. They fit just fine in the Subaru too.
Rita - what type of exercises is the PT having you do for your back? Bridging? My lower back is still grumpy and I even took an ibuprofen when I went to bed. Did my bridging and stretching yesterday which did help a bit.
Tracey - those plates are a hoot. Glad you sold some items at the show and that's a nice Christmas decoration you found. Good luck at today's show.
Sue - hope your power is back on.

Well interesting night ,Susan said Carolyn wasn't feeling well and wasnt coming,so we went to the restaurant not far away, come to find out she was coming so i had to drive back down and get her and go back up its not far, about 3 miles.
Ordered child size portion couldnt finish that but boy was it good..drove Susans car,she has a Subaru Crosstrek, very comfortable car to drive.. I was not drinking .so I was the D D.5 -
So - Got it finished, except for the painting in the spring sometime. Corey gave me a hand with the end board, and with putting up the rod to hold the purses. And was even able to fit my printer and shredder in that bottom corner, so got rid of a table with wires strung everywhere.
All of those boxes were stacked under or beside the work surfaces before, hard to get to in order to find what I need... Quite pleased with this transition. I can get to everything immediately, much of it without either reaching for something high up or digging something out of the bottom box of a stack of them. When other people shift gears, they take a deep breath. When I am ready to make a change, I build something. 😽😃🎉
Also collaborated all afternoon with Corey on chicken and bacon and cheeseburger filled fresh-baked dinner rolls - I made half a recipe of Mama's bread and Corey made fillings for them and filled them. I love it when he starts having fun in the kitchen. It's always a joyful thing for him... he walked through after the first batch were shifted around in the oven, smiling, and said, "And they didn't leak THAT much... " Such fun. Luckily, he also cleans up after himself and me!
It's been a good Saturday - hope yours was too.
Cheers!
Love,

Tracey – I really wish I knew how to drive a standard. Hilarious plates
Same for me – others saying what I was going to say
Got up, took Ganon out to just relieve himself. Jess must have taken him out later the night before because he didn’t have to go quite that bad when I took him. Took him a while to find “the” spot. When he was here before, it didn’t take him near as long. Everyone left shortly after I got back from work. I asked them to be sure to come back
Vince still insists that Fred is traumatized by Ganon because he remembers what Ganon did. Deb - can this be possible? He got upset with me because I was saying how I don't think the cats need to eat moist food at night because when I get up in the morning, there have been (to me) a lot of times when there was maybe 1/2 a dish remaining. He wants to start "documenting" how much food there is. How he can do this, I don't know. They might eat overnight. Whatever.... He said "then you'll see that you're wrong". I just said "or we'll see that I'm right".
Not much else. Trying to stay off my foot as much as possible. What a pain!

Terri - I read a book set in Ireland, the first chapter was a young woman on the coast looking over the water on a cold winter day. I always picture you in that scene when you talk about cold weather.
Annie - that’s funny that your dad read one of your romance novels.
Ginny - craft markets sure are hit and miss.
How sweet your granddaughter is.
Lisa - I shudder to think. Rodger would have it mostly organized, in his fashion, but he wouldn’t think to scrub or dust lol
I don’t think I mentioned that I came home from work on Tuesday and he had rearranged my fridge and cupboards. He moved the jar of doughnut frying oil from the back corner of the fridge to the front near my eggs. I don’t understand the logic at all. He also rearranged two cupboards and I in a supreme show of control did not say a word. Next time I get groceries I’ll have to put everything back, or I’ll wait for the girls to visit and they will exclaim, “Mom! What happened to your cupboards?”
Allie - I could have bought a few of them myself. I think they were a little overpriced though. She did say that the plates are getting pricier at the thrift stores as well though.
I found them quite funny though.
We had a storm all day, Winter surely arrived.
I made it safe and sound to and from the market today.
I was regretting going most of the day, but then 5 minutes before the end and 10 minutes after I doubled the amount I had made all day. So strange.
I did buy a couple of Christmas presents for Lauryn, I need to do some figuring. I think I’m close to done for a few of them now.
I’m lying on the couch watching the CMA awards this evening.

Hello! ... I've been following along, but by the time I can reply, everything has been said that I would've said!

Machka ... my grandfather had a Ford Mustang back when I was a teenager ... probably the mid-late 70's. I loved that car and have wanted one ever since. Today's new price, by the way, is $62,000 dollars. I won't be getting one anytime soon. And frankly, I really liked the style of the older ones better!
Thinking of you all,
Beth near Buffalo
I had a '68 Mustang when dh and I first got married. I had to teach him how to drive a stick shift. We planned on totally restoring it but then he found too much rust on the frame rail. That was such a fun car to drive.
Have been reading but kept getting distracted and didn't respond- sorry.
Has been raining here since Wed. A little break for part of today but more rain coming through Wed(that is the last I heard). 17 inches of rain in 72hrs up by mom's. I don't know how much we got. Not quite as much as them but a lot.
No daycare girl this week- The days I usually have her are holidays. I offered to watch her Wed and Friday but grandma will watch her- that is fine- I still get paid.
Dh's birthday is Wed. I will take him out to lunch some place, unless he decides to go out with his friend instead. I have zumba that night- half work out half snack time for Thanksgiving.
Going to try and catch up here- 2 pages behind

Dh and cats- I don't understand mine, or yours.
Mine is feeding them canned food after I fed them almost every time- They want more wet food- of course they do- They need it just twice a day and dry food the rest of the time. Lately it has been an issue because he is feeding the old grandma cat in the bedroom while I have her food with imodium in it in the kitchen. She eats a lot but I need her eating the one with the meds first or it will be an hour or so until she wants to eat it all. Same thing in the evenings. With 12 cats, we are buying canned food all the time and usually by the case. Everything revolves around the cats.

We finally have power. It came on about 3 am this morning. However the furnace ran for a few hours and then quit so we are still cold. It is about 54* in the house but now we can use the little space heater and the electric matress pad and the electric throw so a little easier to keep warm. DGS and partner are arriving tomorrow morning to stay with us for a week. Called the heating repair place and they are sending someone out tomorrow so I will miss church in order to be here. I am just glad they could work us in. What an adventure.

terewilliams wrote: »Ladies, thank you for your concern. I was put into a medically induced coma because of a really bad asthma attack that resulted in total respiratory and kidney failure. I went in on Christmas Day. They woke me up around the end of January. Because of the many steroids and other mind-altering drugs they used while I was intubated, I had a month long hallucination. I went to rehab for 2 weeks and came home walking with the aid of a rollator. Because I was in the coma so long, I lost most of my muscle strength. My back could not support my body so I had a lot of work to do to be able to walk. I also lost a couple of months of memory. The doctor at one point in rehab said “You realize you lost your mind and we helped you do that.” So, I had detox for the drugs, physical therapy for my body, and mental therapy for my mind.
DH believes that I’m allergic to Christmas fragrances including the tree fragrance. I am allergic to most fragrances, but I think the holiday season is just especially full of wonderful smells. One thing I had never experienced was PTSD from being in critical care and on the steroids. I was angry all the time. Thank goodness my doctor noted my changed attitude and gave me some educational material and medication.
All said and done, I now feel physically and mentally better than I had in a long time.
It might not be the fragrances so much as the dust. I'm allergic to dust mites and so are a whole lot of other people. It's a very common allergy. As soon as the Christmas decorations appear in stores and at work, my nose starts running, my eyes get all itchy, and my asthma acts up. My eyes have really been bothering me lately, and I know why. I even take allergy meds before I decorate my own house for Christmas.
Christmas decorations just sit out there collecting dust for 1-2 months ... in some cases even 3 months if they go up in September. No one dusts them or cleans them ... how would you clean tinsel? Then they're put away, teaming with dust mites, into a place where the dust mites can increase until they're brought out again and hung and draped all over the place, scattering dust and dust mites everywhere.
When we used a "normal" artificial tree, I sprayed it with eucalyptus spray before I put it away and again when I brought it out. Evidently it is supposed to help. Now we use a different sort of tree, and I have less of a reaction to it.SophieRosieMom wrote: »When DH broke his back, they gave him Tramadol for a painkiller, which made him angry and acting similar to how Rodger acted. I was given Tramadol and Promethazine/Phenergan when I had measles or whatever it was in 2016 ... a massive head to toe itchy/painful rash. I had a really bad night where I could not wear anything and could not lie down or sit down. I spent the night standing and pacing. In the morning, I dressed very lightly (despite the fact that it was winter) and my husband took me to a clinic. That was the first time I ever heard a doctor say, "Oh WOW!" when I showed him the rash. Anyway, I took the Tramadol and Promethazine/Phenergan and basically disappeared for 2 days which was probably the best thing for me.LisaInArkansas wrote: »I don't mind them helping, but one called me "little lady" on Wednesday when he was helping me load shelves into my already loaded car. Later, my dears,

On our flight back from Canada to New Zealand, we were in Premium Economy, in the set of 4 seats in the middle. My husband was on one aisle, a man was on the other, and a woman and me were in the middle. She was really overbearing and was busy coming on to the man next to her, despite that they were both apparently married to other people (based on their conversation). It got to the point where she was almost in his lap and I was about to suggest they adjourn to the toilet.
But setting that aside, I was all comfortable in my seat starting a movie, when she tapped my arm (one I had in a bandage wrap because of elbow bursitis) and asked me where to plug in her headphones. I pointed at the arm of her chair, she saw what I meant and then grabbed my bandaged arm, leaned in to me, and squealed, "Thanks! You're going to be my little helper on this trip!!!"
I thought, "Nope!" and put my headphones on.Snowflake1968 wrote: »Too many times I’ve been the only sober one that knew how to drive a standard too many girls I knew didn’t want to learn, some guys too. My dad and grandfather wouldn’t let me get my licence until I learned.
My father got me a standard Ford Escort when I was in my late teens and I learned to drive it.
A few years later, my first husband and I had a standard Honda, which I drove now and then.
A number of years later, I was on a 3-month cycling tour in Australia and decided to hire a vehicle for a few days. It didn't occur to me that the rental place in the small town would not have automatic vehicles, yet there I was, in the parking lot getting set to go when I realised it was a standard!! And not only a standard, the shifter was on the left side! Plus the driver's seat was on the right and I would be driving on the left.
On my first day with it, I "parked" where I stalled it. I'd drive into a small town, look for a place to park, stall it somewhere in the vicinity of the curb and call it done for a while.
The second day was some better and by the third day, I was feeling quite comfortable.
Christmas Gifts - just the kids: our granddaughter, nieces, and nephew. We adults don't really need anything
Cats - Rhody gets wet food twice a day and dry to graze on the rest of the day. Sometimes we have to throw wet food away, just the way it goes. Usually it means he wasn't so fond of whatever it was.
Annie, I'm glad your sister was able to be there for your birthday.
Ginny, I'm glad you're feeling better. And Happy Birthday!
Lisa, I like the shelving.
Heather, Happy Anniversary!
