Dec 1 - Walked 1.00 miles - Ran 0.00 miles - treadmill
Dec 2 - Walked 0.50 miles - Ran 2.00 miles - treadmill
3.50/80 mile goal
I didn't go to the gym today, because I thought I was working until 5:30 and didn't want mom to worry about walking up here in the cold to take care of Tippy. So, the plan was to do a run on the treadmill and then go in to work. I didn't sleep good, so chose to hit the snooze for an hour past when I really wanted to get up, so I was short on time for the run.
I walked 0.25 miles at 3.8 mph for warm up and cool down. The run part was mostly 5.0 mph, with 4 minutes of 4.0 mph walking spread around in there and 2 min of 6.0 mph. Avg pace was 12:16 min/mile. Avg HR was 131 with a max of 154 bpm.
I got ready and went to work. When I walked in, the director said, "Did I have you scheduled to work today?" I said yes, but turned out it was a miscommunication, so they really didn't need me. I did work a little over an hour and then came on home. I stopped at mom and we worked on her latest jigsaw puzzle for a couple of hours. That was fun.
Just got an e-mail with my bib number for the race. I'm 990.9 -

@kgirlhart You are doing great motivating yourself to get out when you don't really want to.
@tarun_yadavA I hope you don't have too much jet lag. Great job on the run.3 -

A+ for consistency!3 -
...is anyone still thinking about a marathon meetup next year? A long time ago we discussed possibly the TX group doing the BCS marathon in College Station. It should be early December 2025.
I'd be down! I'd probably opt for the half but would love to meet up with anyone whose willing to come.6 -
Dec total: 8.8 miles
YTD: 962.8/1200 miles
12/2: 4.4 miles
12/3: 4.4 miles
No number goal. Just sticking to the Garmin plan. Last month was 100 miles so I'll probably end up in that range again.
Posting 2 runs. Yesterday was recovery miles before work. Today I went to a trail around a lake in my neighborhood. Did a couple of loops. I should drive out there more often.

@martaindale and @Scott6255 I'd love to meet up and could possibly do the HM. But, it depends on timing. The T-Minus 10 miler at the Cape is the second Sat in Dec. If they are different weekends, maybe? It depends on how training goes.
Nice running @martaindale . I saw the picture of the lake on Strava. It's beautiful. I'd probably run that often if it were in my neighborhood.

I had to drop Tippy off at the groomer before 9 this morning. Mom went with me and then we drove to Knoxville to a Warby Parker to order me some new prescription glasses. We did a little more shopping before heading back to pick up Tippy. She sure was vocal when we picked her up...not sure if she was happy to see us or cussing me out for making her get a bath. LOL
She sure is soft and smells nice. Hopefully they got all of that shedding undercoat off.
When I got home, I did a treadmill run. I walked quarter mile for warm up and cool down. The run was at 5.0/4.0 mph for 4/1 min and 6.0 for the last 1m36s. Avg pace was exactly what it was yesterday, 12:16 min/mile. Avg HR was 131 with a max of 154 bpm. Actually felt pretty easy, but I didn't want to do a longer run since I am planning on my last long run before the race either being tomorrow or Thursday.8 -
@quilteryoyo Tippy looks beautiful after her spa day
@martaindale I'm not sure when registration starts for the 2025 BCS marathon. This year's race is this weekend, so probably will open up after the race. But I'm not married to that race. I would consider doing Houston again if that was easier for you. It is a very well organized event and I haven't done that one in several years. I'm open to anything really.
Got in a nice 6.2 miles after work. It was a pleasant 61F and light wind. It felt easier than most of my previous runs lately. But Yikes! Garmin shows calories burned 666 😈

I think registration for the BCS Marathon usually opens in May with early-bird registration opening in December of the previous year.5 -
Walked 2.05 miles yesterday. Today was 1.14 miles.
The snow is here in central New York state.7 -
Got out for 5K this morning. It’s starting to feel like summer here so I was stinking hot and dripping, but I was happy to be out running. The first 4K went great and then at 4k exactly my calf let me know that it had enough so I did the sensible thing and walked for a bit, then ran-walked back to my car. I was fine when I got home but now having been sitting in front of my computer for several hours, I’m limping again. I’m annoyed, but it’s not major and things are clearly on the mend so I just have to take it gently for a little longer.9

December Goal: 125 miles
12/1: 10.02 miles
12/2: 3.26 miles
12/3: 6.02 miles
19.3/125 miles completed for December
It was another cold morning, but it was a nice run. I got out a little late. It is just so hard to get out the door when it is cold out, but I did and I still was able to run 6 miles.

9.75/80 mile goal
I procrastinated a bit too long for a longer run...plus I decided to do the long run tomorrow since I don't have anything else that I have to do, unlike today.
I was determined to run faster today, so the run was something like 3/1/2/1 min at 5.0/6.0/5.0/4.0 mph. That did vary a little and I substituted 5.5 for 6.0 once. I was please with the avg pace. It turned out to be 11:39 min/mile and it didn't feel all that hard. Avg HR was 126 with a max of 153 bpm.
Now, off to run some errands, take Tippy to the vet (annual checkup and shots), church, and visit with friends after church.

@mari333a thanks for sharing the pics!
@ContraryMaryMary I hope that calf heals settles down soon.
@quilteryoyo love the pic of Tippy ♥️
Great runs all!!
My MRI results are posted. Looks like pretty much what Dr and I thought all along. All ligaments are intact, which is good. Basically, I have mild tendinitis of my Achilles tendon (which we didn’t know) and mild tendinitis in various other tendons. Main thing is (as quoted from the report): Mild tendinosis and moderate tenosynovitis of the posterior tibialis. Also, still a fair amount of edema (fluid, swelling) in that area as well. So, will probably still take some time for it to settle down. The “moderate” part is dealt with by the use of my walking boot, rest, ice etc. and eventually some physical therapy as I keep recovering. So happy to note that I don’t seem to have any major tears. The moderate tenosynovitis is typically indicative of small tears, so probably not anything that needs surgery, just time to heal.10 -
Love the pictures @Mari33a ! You look great! That food looks delicious.
Nice run @Emilienewme ! Great that you worked it in around your other obligations.
Thanks @daria0919 . That sounds like great news from the MRI! I hope the time to recover passes quickly.2 -
December Goal: 125 miles

Did a Tue/Wed back to back runs 7k/5k. Was feeling a bit sore from the back to back 14k/16k trail runs on the weekend. Everyday, I get reminded I'm no longer immortal...., sigh aging On the plus side, we got a break in the weather with Chinook conditions. Our local name for Foehn winds that warms things up. It went from -18c on sunday to +8c on monday! Don't know of many places that has a 26c degree temperature swing in one day..... made for fun skating and puddling on the sidewalks though
Everyone is doing great with their activities.
Wishing all those recovering to heal soon.6 -
6.2 miles to commemorate 62 years on the planet. Felt a lot colder than Tuesday. Guess I'm getting old 😉 (or it was the 15mph North wind)
Also bittersweet, as I shared a birthday with @shanaber. Sure do miss her (and Hobbes).
Still think of @shanaber often…
@Scott6255
Great job on the 6.2 miles!! I still remember from last year when you did the 6.2 for your birthday last year only to realize afterwards that you were 61 😀8 -
Great run @kgirlhart .
Nice long run this morning @tarun_yadavA .
Great running @WarmJellyfish . I'm glad the weather was warmer, but the slushy conditions aren't the greatest.
Happy Birthday @Scott6255 . I had forgotten that you and @shanaber shared a birthday. I miss her and Hobbes too. BTW, it was probably the north wind, not age, that made it feel colder.

Dec 5 - Walked 0.50 miles - Ran 2.50 miles - treadmill - Gym - 48m39s
12.75/80 mile goal
I hadn't planned on it, but after I got up this morning, I decided to go to the gym since it wasn't as cold as I thought it was going to be and it might be the last day I get a chance to go before heading to FL.
I did a deadlift workout today, with some core work thrown in for good measure. I maxed at 110 pounds x 10 reps.
I did a treadmill run after I got home. I wanted to take it easy/slower today since I had been pushing it a little the last two days. I did a run/walk of 2/1 min at 5.0/4.0 mph. My avg pace was 12:49 min/mile. My Avg HR was 116 with a max of 137 bpm. It actually felt harder than I thought it should have, but wasn't too bad.8
