@tmbg1 Great streak!! Keep on going!
I have not been doing great. Casino on Thursday turned into "oh well, I'll just have some wine today, too" on Friday and then more on Saturday and more at the football game yesterday. I will fight the wine devil off for the rest of this week if it kills me!! Good luck to everyone this week!

Today is day 100 AF. What is the best thing to do when you hit a milestone? KEEP GOING! I don't generally have any cravings, depression, anxiety, fatigue, brain fog, etc. Even the hot flashes are gone. This is totally anti-aging. No way am I going back to have the wine devil drive my shopping habits, my spending habits, dictate my calorie consumption, my consumption habits, rob my health, and consume my thinking time. Now way in hell, wine devil!

No-No-No @globalhiker I don't make moonshine !! That's the Pig Pickin' "covered dish" contribution of a Southern cousin each year.
He don't cook, but he makes a mighty fine shine....apologies to Three Dog Night...

Go girl...I am so impressed. I'm still working on it. But, I will get there. You're comments about how things have changed for you (physically, mentally) are so encouraging. Keep it up. I hope I can join you soon 🙂

Excellent work everyone
AF - 85 days
Oh so close to my goal of 90days AF...

@xbowhunter Great job! 90 days is a major milestone. I just hope that you continue on your journey after the 90 days. Take care!7

I woke up and thought, wow the wine devil has been very happy with me lately saying yes — all too often….. Now that I’ve been on this thread going on two years I can see the slope can get slippery again over time and daily vino at any amount or content (%) can creep back in so slyly and before I/we know it….POOF!
Will attend two favorite gym classes this week and walk everyday in the sunshine while it lasts.
Have an early dental appointment tomorrow morning so AF tonight.
Let’s stay WELL and on track with our personal goals during this super busy season.

@globalhiker congrats on 100 days! Very inspiring, and so happy to hear you feel like a million bucks!
@xbowhunter you’re right on her heels! You’re so close to 90 days, we can all taste it. Of course we’ll celebrate with you!
Only one glass of wine last night and tonight. Very proud of myself! Yesterday I wanted to go to brunch after church to my favorite restaurant, and instead wound up at this awesome Jewish deli that makes the best Reuben’s. No alcohol served there, and I’m so glad because I know I would have had one at my original place, then would have been a slug all day.
Also started exercising this week, am on a nice upward track!7 -
@Michieb125 right there with you on the slippery slope
@Womona Great job sticking with one glass, and it looks like God was looking out for you after church
I had an open bottle of wine from my 4 day alcohol streak that I finished last night and turned into a 5 day streak. I'll be good now because I won't buy anymore, but if it's in the house

Love the relay race you and @globalhiker are in. CONGRATULATIONS on 85th day. YOU truly rock.4 -
Kicked the wine 👿 to the curb last night! Once I made my resolve yesterday, I didn’t think about it again. I guess that’s one of those “when you’re ready, you’re ready” moments.
It will be another AF night so I will be bright eyed (eager, fresh, enthusiastic) and bushy tailed (full of energy) to take my grandchildren to school tomorrow morning. And then treating myself to a massage in the afternoon.
I found an NA wine with alcohol removed and bottled in Healdsburg, CA (wine country above Napa Valley in Northern CA). I’ll let you know what I think once that is opened.

FLICK OFF that wine devil ( if not every day, every other)4 -
Day 66 alcohol FREE.
I am going for it. I am setting a hard fact that I WILL get to January 2, 2025 without drinking alcohol drinks.
I am picking Jan 2, because if I pick Dec 3, 2024 for sure something will make me weak in the knees and derail my plan.
I know for sure my husband is going to lay on the floor and kick his feet like a child and I know he will try to make me feel as though I am ruining HIS GOOD TIME. How selfish is that? Very very selfish and controlling. There I said it out loud.
0 - alohol
0 - sugar in my coffees
LESS indulging in sweets from my husband's workplace during our TV time after dinner.

You got this!
We have an overnight stay on Dec 27th to the 28th in our Ontario wine country. Talk about tempting my journey to stay sober during the holidays... lol5 -

Congrats on 66 days AF. I'm not sure if I understood your post. Are you saying that you're going to stay AF until January 2nd, 2025?
I'm still struggling. But, if you can make to January 2nd, why not just keep going?
I read something the other day. I don't think it was on this thread. But, the person said that if you quit drinking and have even just one drink that you would backslide sometimes for months (I'm paraphrasing of course).
For me, once I get a few days under my belt, I'm never going back. I'm majorly struggling right now. And, it's not fun. I know some of the members here just drink a glass or two of wine a day. So, I would imagine, quitting wouldn't be that hard. But, I'm really having a difficult time. It will happen soon. And, then, never again! For me, I can go for months without drinking. And, then, just one drink turns into months of daily drinking!

Lots of great support going on this month!
@SurferGirl1982 - something you mentioned jumped out to me - “I know some of the members here just drink a glass or two of wine a day. So, I would imagine, quitting wouldn't be that hard.”
I’m happily one of those members, and not attempting to quit as I do enjoy California and Oregon wines. Less is always my goal. But, I’ll be the first to say it’s not easy!4 -
@Michieb125 I'm sorry if you misunderstood what I was trying to say. I wasn't implying that everyone should quit drinking completely. I was just saying that I've been drinking way more than I should be. I've been in this situation before. Sometimes when drinking heavily for extended periods it can be very hard to quit. Sometimes medical intervention is required. I'm trying to quit so it doesn't get to that point again.
BTW...I live in the heart of Oregon wine country 🙂3 -

First off...Everyone in this group is wonderful. You are all so kind and supportive.
But, I just want to clarify what I posted. I wasn't suggesting that everyone should quit drinking completely. My best friend from high school is a normal drinker. She probably only drinks five or six times a year. But, I'm not lucky enough to be a normal drinker.
I've been through quite a bit in my life. When I was about 19 years old I spent five days in a Mexican jail (long story).
About a year later, I accidentally shot myself in the leg with a 357 magnum (Quick-draw McGraw!) in the middle of the Mojave desert. I had to be transported 93 miles in an ambulance.
In 2010, my mom was diagnosed with brain cancer. She lived in SoCal about 700 miles or so away. I immediately went there and took care of her for most of the year. I was actually honored to be able to care for her.
But, the most frighting time was on November 28th, 2021. I'm sure I've posted this before. But, I woke up shortly after midnight feeling the need to vomit. I ran to the kitchen sink. I didn't turn on the light. But, what was in the sink appeared dark. I ran the water and I went back to bed and shortly afterwards, I felt the need to vomit again. I again ran to the sink. This time, my husband got up and said, "What's going on?". He turned on the light and said, "That's blood! I'm calling an ambulance". Well, I won't go into all the details. But, I was in the ICU for some time and then other units. I'm trying to quit because I don't want that to happen again. It was very scary!

@SurferGirl I appreciate the clarification to my comment! And you live in a beautiful state!
I hear you are truly struggling and the wonderful people on this thread are so supportive to us folks who are seeking less alcohol in any amount. You have had more than your share of hardships too.
I had a friend ask me this once after a traumatic experience (not alcohol related)…..”do you believe you can create the life you want going forward?” Meaning we can write our own future if we think we can. And I suspect the opposite is true as well.
I believe in you!5 -
@Michieb125 Thank you so much! I appreciate you all ❤️ And, I will get past this!4
-
@surfergirl1982 Just keep hanging out with us! I Know you'll get there!
Finally a wine free night. If there's none in the house, I'm fine. We even went to dinner, and I drank water and came home and got my workout in.
My mistake was going to the grocery store last Thursday and picking up 4 BOGO bottles of nice wine thinking I'll have them over the next few weeks. HA!! I lied to myself, for sure. Back on track, though.

@SurferGirl1982 now we need to hear the Mexican jail story! 🤪🤪
Seriously, what you’ve been through is a lot! Big hug, we all have your back.
@MissMay hugs to you as well. I guess he prefers to have a drinking buddy, but still, I’m not understanding how you not drinking impinges on his good time. Maybe he feels (true or not) judged? Guilty? Weak?5 -
Only one glass of wine last night at home. Yay, but now I’m thinking it’s time to try skipping days, or at the very least, dropping down to LA wine (once I get to the store). I still haven’t tried my NA red wine yet, I should crack that open.
I went to lunch with a friend yesterday, not intending to drink. I explained that I’m trying to cut back, and that I have to get stuff done. I know that wine at lunch makes me completely unproductive for the rest of the afternoon. (She didn’t order any alcohol).
Well, the urge to order a glass of wine was strong! It was so weird, not having wine! Usually I go out to lunch with a friend, and wine is ordered, no questions asked! So I was proud that I got through that challenge. I came home and took a huge nap, and got nothing done anyway, but at least I skipped it at lunch! Just as unproductive, just as good of a nap, but yet somehow a win. I’ll take it!7 -
