Hey folks, this is what the moon looks like right now from my front yard:

Cool picture @daria0919 Did you count the stars inside the circle? That's supposed to be how many days it is before it rains, according to the "old folks."
Great picture @capewrathultra . That is NOT what I ate. Mine was just a plain old cheeseburger.
Nice running @kgirlhart . Congrats on reaching your year goal already! And thanks for the thoughts on the race today. I'm proud to be your biggest fan. .
Yesterday, I tried to find my Strava e-mail to get my top fans, but it has disappeared. I guess the world will never know - kind of like how many licks it takes to get to the center of a tootsie roll pop.
I'm up and having coffee Trying to get things moving before I get dressed and head out for the race. According to my phone, it is currently 58F (14.4C) and partly cloudy. Actually felt pretty good when I went out and put the cooler in the car. I suspect it will feel a lot cooler by the water, but should warm up once the sun rises.
I didn't find the link, but is you are so inclined, I hope you can find me and follow my journey. The race is supposed to start in a little less than 3.5 hours. I hope to get a PR - best is 2h14m28s . If not, just finishing will be good enough.6 -

12/2: 4.4 miles
12/3: 4.4 miles
12/4: 3.9 miles
12/7: 10.4 miles
12/8: 5.4 miles
12/11: 4.4 miles
12/12: 5 miles
12/13: 3.4 miles
12/14: 7.4 miles
Logging 2 runs this morning. I ran a short one before work yesterday then left straight from work to go camping. I'm at another park I would consider local to Houston, Stephen F Austin State Park, located to the west of the city. It was misty rainy all day yesterday and overnight so things are damp but it's always nice to get out for the weekend.
Today was my long run, scheduled for 11 miles. The rain brought a serious warmup and it was brutal this morning. A few days ago I ran in temps just above freezing and today it was 70F and 100% humidity. I ran most of the trails in the park, skipping the ones that went down to the river because they were too muddy, then wrapped up on the park roads. The conditions were draining. At halfway I already felt like I had run 7-8 miles. I made the decision to call it when I got close to my campsite. I decided finishing would just be flogging my body for no benefit. I finished at a little over 7 miles and absolutely felt like I had run the full 11 miles. So even though Garmin gave me a 31% execution score, my body feels like I put the effort in.7 -
@quilteryoyo huge congrats on your 10 mile PR! Your training really paid off 👏👏💪
@tarun_yadavA sorry about your tire, but you sure are riding in style!
@martaindale that run sounds brutal. Smart to stop when you did.
Honored to be some of your biggest fans on Strava.
And thank you to all my supporters as well ❤️ Visiting my daughter in Houston this weekend. Been busy and won't get a chance to run. I can't remember the last time I came here and didn't run.
Oh well, the times they are a changin'
Have a great rest of the weekend everyone!7 -
@quilteryoyo Congratulations and great job with the race!!2
-
@tarun_yadavA You had a really rough day! Why does it seem like when 1 thing goes wrong, everything goes wrong? Also, it's so annoying that new cars rarely come with a spare anymore.
@quilteryoyo Can't wait to hear about your race! Cute Airbnb.
My biggest fan was Gary, whose MFP handle I can't remember right now. When I started here he was very active, but hasn't been around in a while. However, he is still very active on Strava. The three names they list are not in any particular order. After it shows you those three, you can guess and it'll tell you who was your biggest fan.
How's your brother doing with his recovery @Scott6255?6 -
Thanks @tarun_yadavA . @kgirlhart , @Scott6255 , @emptydog , and @martaindale .
Enjoy your weekend @martaindale . Those conditions sounds brutal today. You did great.
Enjoy your weekend with your daughter @Scott6255 !
Well, as you have figured out by now, I did PR my race! Santa must have thought I was a good girl this year and granted my request. I'm pretty tired and can feel it in my legs tonight. I am just going to relax and go to bed early tonight. I'll do my best to get a report written up for your reading pleasure tomorrow.
But, I will show you my post race dinner.
The restaurant. I wanted to try something new and Florida - ish.
The view from my table.
The meal. It was salmon with garlic bread and roasted potatoes. Really good. I have decided from this picture that I am NOT a food photographer.9 -
12/1 5.26 miles, Crazy Laps!
12/2 5.23 miles, Crazy Laps!

12/4 3.53 miles, 2410 days on the run, Crazy Laps!
12/5 5.3 miles, Crazy Laps!
12/6 5.31 miles, Crazy Laps!
12/7 5.37 miles, Crazy Laps!
12/8 5.37 miles, Crazy Laps!
12/9 6.25 miles, 2415 days on the run, Crazy Laps!
12/10 6.4 miles, Running Partner A, slow, just had to have some fresh air and chatter
12/11 6.23 miles, Crazy Laps!
12/12 6.17 miles, Crazy Laps!
12/13 6.05 miles, Crazy Laps! X-rays today!
12/14 6.09 miles, 2420 days on the run, Crazy Laps!
Thank you to @daria0919 for rousing me out of my funk.
So, I had x-rays of my feet and back on Friday. I wanted to be sure I did not have a stress fracture in my foot. I had both feet done, because over this last week the left started to hurt like the right one. Which started me more to thinking that my shoes are not right. Doctor says my feet actually look great with no signs of arthritis. It appears to be 'overuse' or shoes are not right. I am leaning to the shoes since after 2420 days I think overuse is an understatement. I don't know. Anyway, doctor suggests rest, ice and Tylenol. I was already doing that...sort of. He suggests a rest from running and you already see how well that went.
So, all that to say, I am here, just feeling a little down. I want to run long distance, I want to be on the road. I want to eat all the Christmas cookies!
No Strava picture from me, it says you have to get it from the app and I do not have that. I just use the web! Essentially, you are all my greatest support and inspiration!10 -
@AlphaHowls I'm glad you went to the doctor. At least you know what is going on. Now, if you'll just listen to the doctor (maybe a mile a day for a couple of weeks and no more) you'll be back doing those long distances pain free soon....I hope.6

Aye, Aye! I am going to take it down to the one mile. Stress is what pushes me most days, to keep it together. I will be off work the week of Christmas and taking the next week as well. So many chores that I have not gotten 'roundtoit'
7 -
I think for CHristmas @AlphaHowls needs a road trip with her besty runner friends to a super running shoe store and to buy out ALL the things. It is always the shoes.... LOL. Our feet change as we age also so they could be wider or flatter than they were just a few years ago.
Congrats @quilteryo on a totally outstanding race this year!!!! 👏👏👏👏👏 Have been loving all the photos esp Tippy looking over the ocean and flat vicky. Your finish line photo is wonderful. 😍
I did 8.3 this morning just because I sort of decided to scenic tour the neighborhood and because I was not too sore from yesterday's 7. Both yesterday and today - warm, humid, drizzly with some sun peaking thru to steam it up a bit more. It's been several weeks since I sweated on runs so much but honestly it did not feel too bad. ALmost like I got a workout in.

@daria0919 I love your photo
@quilteryoyo well done on your race
I can see a lot of you use Strava, do you find it good? I only use my Garmin, would you recommend having Strava too?

@AlphaHowls I hope taking it easy on the running and getting some of your chores done will give your feet the break they need. New shoe evaluation is a great idea too. Here is something it sounds like you need. I know I do.
Thanks @SummerSkier . Great run today. Sometimes it really does feel good to sweat!
Congrats on your PB for the 5K @Emilienewme ! You're doing great with your runs and love that grinch.
I did get in a fast walk/wun with Tippy this morning. I ran about 5 min total...intermingled with the walk. It felt pretty good. Garmin tells me I need 3.5 days to recover.
I meant to write up my race report today, but didn't have time. I spent the afternoon with family. Maybe I'll get to it tomorrow after I get to SC. Stay tuned.
Here are some pictures from the afternoon. I wish we had gotten a group photo, but instead you'll have to see a lot of pictures to get the entire group. The oldest grand daughter and her family couldn't be there.
Having a snowball fight with pom poms.
Two of the great grandkids.
Me and the hosts of the family get-together - my late husband's ex-wife and her husband.
Step daughter and her family
Step son and daughter-in law
Grandson and family - has the youngest great grandson.
Me, daughter-in-law, and the youngest great grand daughter. Loved that she warmed up to me so quickly.
When I took Tippy out for a short walk later, the moon was rising and looked really cool. Of course, the picture doesn't do it justice.

Step/walking total miles for December 1-15 is 38.23 miles. My goal set at the beginning of this month is for 55 miles. Our vacation in St. Augustine and a lot of walking in my boot that week has me over the halfway mark, so I’ happy.
Saw the orthopedic doctor this past week. Basically sounds like she’s giving up on me. She said 2 more weeks in the boot and then continue as needed. She gave me some strengthening exercises to do since my bringing a boot for do long has weakened my muscles. I’m going to go get fitted for custom arch supports (bye bye $500+…..) to see if that helps. She didn’t even suggest another appointment. Just said wait and see how it goes. I’m still in pain most days and there’s still swelling. Sounds like this will continue to be my life. Option is to do surgery to remove the PTT with another tendon from my foot. (Which I think is a strange option considering all my tendons in that foot are suffering from tendinitis according to the MRI results. Not sure I want surgery at this point, so I’m gonna try to live with pain and see how it progresses.
Another thought is to go see a different specialist. Someone who works with athletes/runners specifically to get a second opinion and to get someone that may be a little more proactive with trying to help me without doing surgery. Today I bought some tape and was looking at videos of how to tape my foot to help support that tendon. Strange that the doctor never even suggested that as an option to try. Will see if I can come up with something that’ll stabilize my ankle more so that the tendon can rest while I still walk. The usual RICE that I’ve been doing for 3 months now hasn’t haloed much. I feel no pain most of the time when I’m in my boot, so another thought is to just live in the boot for the rest of my life….. maybe just train to walk races in the boot. I could decorate it…..9 -

I ran 10 miles this morning. The temperature was good at about 57°F at the start and 70°F at the end. It was cloudy though and a little misty for a while. But all in all a decent run.
@daria0919 I think your second option sounds good. I think it is best to see a runner if possible and they will probably look for options.
Great photos @quilteryoyo!
Scenic neighborhood runs are the best @SummerSkier.

Morning all
Got in 5.6M at 09"48.
@SummerSkier 2000 was the original goal. So will strive to (and should!) achieve that. An extra 24M doesn't sound a lot - but I probably at best, only have 5 runs left this year. But I will try!!! 🤞🏽6 -
@daria0919 I went option 1 all those years back...2
-
You are doing great @daria0919 . When I hurt my calf and was in a boot for a couple of month, I got to where I could walk pretty fast. I think you should race in it. Seriously, though, I'm sorry the ortho is giving up on you. I think you should get a second opinion from maybe a sports doctor, if one is available to you. I hope you can figure out an option that doesn't include surgery or living with pain the rest of your life.
Thanks @kgirlhart ! Great running.
Nice running @tarun_yadavA . I think you can squeeze in a couple of run sees on your vacation and make 2024 miles. I have faith in you. If not, I know you will make the 2000, which is a HUGE accomplishment.6 -

I ran 3.25 miles this morning. It wasn't a bad run, but I was pretty tired and my hip is feeling a little cranky. I think I just need new shoes.

I still haven't had/taken the time to sit down and write up the race report. It's gonna be so old news no one will care by the time I do.
This morning, Tippy and I took a wun before I started packing the car. When we finished running a segment I turned down the street that I thought the Airbnb was on. As we kept going, I realized it was the wrong street. I thought I had turned too soon, but figured out it was actually one street too far. So, we wound up getting in an extra half mile for a total of 2 this morning.
Afterwards, I put Tippy in the house and drove over to the beach so I could wet my feet and have a short stroll along the water. It was nice and I really wish I had been able to go more than once. The water was pretty chilly though.
Beach!
The ocean was a bit choppy today. Too bad there wasn't a launch while I was there.
The water came in just a little bit further than I expected. LOL
Tippy and I took a mile fast walk after we got to the hotel in SC. She did NOT want to go an entire mile and I was having to urge her along. Running was out of the question. LOL So we got a total of 3 miles today.
Dinner tonight was a disappointing take out from Cracker Barrel. It looks much better than it tasted.
The thing on the right is a loaded baked potato. It was okay, but parts of it were too hard to eat. The chicken was either too thin and overcooked or too thick and not cooked enough. The mac & cheese, which I didn't order but got, was the best part of the meal.
This sign on the side of the restaurant made me laugh. I guess you take your chances if you want to do something nefarious.
I finally got the e-mail and found my biggest fans on Strava. Thanks to all of you here for your continued support! You are the best!

Good running everyone.
87 of 150k so far. On a taper now.7 -
02/12 3.15 miles
04/12 3.21 miles
05/12 3.21 miles
09/12 3.28 miles
10/12 2.57 miles
12/12 2.58 miles
13/12 2.57 miles
16/12 2.56 miles
Total 23.13/50 miles
I'm finding these shorter runs are enough to let my foot heal but get a run in. Over the weekend the arch started to itch and the pain has got less or changed so that's a win.9 -
@quilteryoyo love your pics. Looks like you are enjoying your post-race mini vacation
I was able to get out this morning for a 10K. It was a pleasant 53F and no wind.
7 -
Tried a 1.4 mile slow walk without my boot. Ankle hurt, so iced it right when I got home. Am elevating it now. Frustrating….
Went in for my orthotics fitting this morning. Should be ready December 31st. The guy who was taking the mold of my feet also has PTTD and lives with it. He’s not a runner though, so it doesn’t really hurt him. But, he did listen to me when I said I do want to be able to do 5Ks to 10Ks and he said he’ll make it happen. First person to give me some chance of hope.
Looks like it was a 10K kind of morning today on Strava! Great job @Scott6255 @Teresa502 @Laurz9191 & @kgirlhart !!
Lots of other nice walks/runs and cycling by the rest of you!! Keep on keeping’ on…..10 -
You're doing great @WarmJellyfish .
So glad to see that your foot is getting better @Mari33a !
Thanks @Scott6255 . Great run this morning.
@daria0919 Glad someone is giving you some hope of being able to run again. Sometimes, it just takes talking to the right person. I'm sure you are looking forward to the 31st and getting out of the boot.
Tippy and I did a mile walk before packing the car this morning. I did manage to get her to run a little today... after I turned around and headed back toward the hotel. I think she was afraid to run away from it, thinking that I might make her go 2 miles again. LOL
The traffic in Asheville was horrible, but we made it home around 3:30 today. I'll be glad to sleep in my own bed tonight.8 -
Hello everyone.
Sorry been a bit absent here last couple of days.
Got in 8.08M at 09"49.
Fly out early AM tomorrow morning.
So will cross 2000 at some point in CR.
@quilteryoyo hope you made it home ok.
@daria0919 good news about orthotic insole being ready this month6 -
@tarun_yadavA Have a great trip. I'm sure you will make the 2000 miles while run-seeing. And, thanks, I did make it home safe and sound.2
