3 months + 22 days AF in a row, done. IMAGINE if I could only stay in my calorie limit and exercise daily for that long?
I didn't post this weekend since I have been busy working my Ms. Santa job. Today I will juggle hardly working from home with washing all the bedding since my kiddos are sleeping over plus cleaning and making the final mad dash to the supermarkets. OH - and I have 3 empty Xmas stocking to fill yet - but no mini booze bottles or candy. This is freakin HARD!
Do you have your holiday menu and holiday exercise plan ready??? Rib Roast and potatoes and cornbread and vegetable kabobs and apple pie + hiking around the hood before and after!6 -
@globalhiker it seems we all have much to do today and tomorrow and your meal sounds delicious. Way to go on your successful AF lifestyle! You should be very proud of yourself.
@chicbuc what a fun idea - a Saran Wrap ball! I must try that sometime - I can hear the laughter right now!
@tmbg1 Congrats on making your AF goal!! That must feel amazing!
@NonnieDoiron I know you WILL accomplish all the things!!!3 -
Had wine last night while wrapping and baking. Tonight is none or possibly one glass with my mother and DIL who arrive tonight.
I too have 8 empty stockings to fill and thank goodness I did shop for these before today!
Socks, bath bombs and facial masks for the girls and nail clippers, funny soaps and beef jerkey for the boys. I will throw some Lindt chocolate balls in.
Keeping it small with my over all theme but I like to do stockings when we are hosting my kids and their families. The grandkids are so excited seeing their own little stockings hung by the fireplace.
Why is it that the day before Christmas Eve I find little presents I still need to wrap?!? I thought I was done and have a very busy cook day since we’re celebrating (again) tonight and all day tomorrow - I need a Santa’s helper.
Baked some killer frosted sugar cookie bars last night as they are my ultimate favorite cookie I have once a year. But yeah the no sugar and soberish January are just around the corner! I’m not waiting per se but looking forward to creating some
improved health goals and tossing the candy that keeps showing up
I bought pomegranate juices, Ollipop cranberry fizz sparkling water, and Fever tree grapefruit and ginger beer. My plan is to alternate any wine with an N.A. beverage.
Stay safe everyone and may you find your best resolve just for today! Hugs!5 -
@globalhiker yes on the menu and I will keep taking walks outside. Roast beef with au jus in my Dutch oven, cornbread, creamed spinach, Mac and cheese, and lots of appetizers much earlier in the day (protein and vegetables). Need to start with a protein shake

Hi gang, been battling the c-o-l-d from H-E-L-L. A week now. Just when I think I am rounding the get better corner it hits again during my sleep.
So caught up reading, I am going to be honest, so sorry, no energy to respond to everyone.
Accountability is
-0- ZERO alcohol for December and now at 79 days in a row AF. Going for 90 as my next personal goal.9 -
@MissMay FEEL BETTER!!!
@SurferGirl1982 We're not losers. I just get down on myself sometimes. You CAN do this taper and be ready for January!
@itladyee Thanks for the hugs and backatcha!
@globalhiker @Michieb125 Your menus sound divine!
I do a traditional all homemade dinner for my dad and aunt and uncle every year...turkey and ham, dressing with fresh herbs (my favorite), mashed potatoes, gravy, fresh green beans, mac and cheese, and dinner rolls. I started doing this a few years ago and just throw it out there to whoever wants to come. Some years we get a group. Some years it's just my dad.

It is probably time to stop all together. I drink even 1 glass and I’m in night sweats for half the night. It’s become more of a thing these past couple months that I’ve been drinking more again. I’m going to have to just bite the bullet and avoid it, and talk to hubby about the “magically appearing wine bottles”.
Christmas Day is just us and my BIL and his wife. Making a brisket, mac and cheese, green bean and corn casserole, sausage cranberry and apple dressing, and roasted root veggies.
The next Christmas celebration is Friday night with my son’s (the one with autism) girlfriend’s family. This family is LOUD, so we are getting with them separately so I don’t lose my s-h-i-t! Because her dad is a VERY picky eater, we are having what I call “movie night dinner”: chicken tenders, taquitos, pigs in a blanket, chips, fruit platter, and probably brownies.
Then, Sunday my oldest son, his wife, and kids are coming to dinner, and to be honest I have no idea what I’m making. It may be clean the fridge day by that time. I already have a ton of leftover food in my fridge, and it’s just going to get worse.
I think I will go for my walk today though because the trash is really starting to pile up. I may need to take a wagon with me today.
Merry Christmas everyone!6 -

I feel that! My AF time has not translated into weightloss because I've not been as motivated to exercise or diet. My holiday meal is grilled steaks, homemade mashed potatoes, green beans, and coconut cream pie.6 -
Christmas Eve Eve! Not AF but no wine! )
Have a great Christmas Eve!!

Happy Christmas Eve!
Family was together last night and today again starting with breakfast, then Church service at 2:00 p. m. and all kinds of shenanigans and good food afterwards! I have a plan to enjoy the family fun and am fortunate to be together with those I love.
I’m happy my family doesn’t ever drink to excess but I know not everyone can say that.
Holiday blessings to you my LA friends!6 -
Hope all of you have a very Merry Christmas!!5

It's a melancholy night, but this too shall pass.
I hope all those who celebrate have a wonderful Christmas and those who don't have a very special day.

A few days ago, I decided to try and quit cold turkey. But, it didn't go well. I was up half of the night. Normally, I would get up and have a drink...but there was none in the house. And the T-shirt that I wore to bed was wet from sweating. Very miserable night.
I had my husband buy me enough whiskey to get me through Christmas. But, then I'm going to wean myself off and I hope to be AF by January 1st. If I ever get past this, I'm never going back!
Merry Christmas to you all!

Had eggnog after church with hubby last night, but it wasn’t a full glass because I wasn’t feeling great.
@SurferGirl1982 i think I’m actually having hot flashes again. At first, they were happening only at night. So, I naturally thought it was the wine. But, yesterday, I was having them on and off all day long. I wore a maxi dress to church last night that had shoulder straps using a light scarf as a shoulder wrap. At one point, I dropped the wrap and fanned myself with a prayer card because I was so flipping hot!
It was only about 44° outside, and it felt better when I was outside without a coat.
I have been reading your posts, and I believe you can meet your Jan 1 goal. You have a week. It won’t be easy, and you’ll probably feel like crap at first. Just do it!6 -
Merry Christmas folks!
Got in an AF Christmas Eve! All your dinners sound divine!!
I was slightly tempted to try a shot of fancy bourbon since my son brought over 3 bottles but opted for dessert instead and that took care of it.
Best thing I can do today is get my rear end out the door with my kiddos and husband and go for a nice walk before day 2 of feasting continues!!
Going outside, put on that holiday hat or holiday sweater and moving is an awesome holiday Anti-depressant. Say Merry Christmas to all strangers you pass by. Or crash a church you don't go to and sing along!
@MissMay HUGS for you and hope you feel better! Hot Christmas liquids perhaps?
@SurferGirl1982 cucumber water sounds good! I will try it!

Merry Christmas LA friends! 🎄❄️⛄️🎄❄️⛄️
Hope everyone is enjoying their menus and activities! My heart is full from going to church and spending all yesterday and last night with my adult children, grandchildren and mom. Dinner was also delicious and plentiful so today will be lighter.
Started today with a winter walk outside (@globalhiker) in my Christmas sweater and said hello to other neighbors walking with kids on new bikes - finding comfort and joy in the small things today. Called and texted friends and relatives who live afar to spread and receive some cheer!
Had more to drink yesterday than in a very long time and had a bugger of a headache when I awoke. Luckily it passed quickly. I was also up until midnight because I was so overly stimulated from the festivities lol.
I do plan to get in at least a few more AF days before 12/31. So I started with some Prosecco, then decided to accept a delicious lemon drop from youngest daughter with dinner and then I had at least 2 glasses of wine afterwards while opening presents and cleaning the whole kitchen before bed.
Taking mom home tonight, then will watch The Holiday with the hubs and will start thinking about 2025 goals this week, including January LA goals!5 -
@globalhiker way to go on making a better choice for yourself - dessert!3

Merry Christmas my wonderful LESS ALCOHOL friends!!!!
Still feeling like YUCK, might have to make a trip to doctor this week to get this gone in me. Good news AF streak is 100%. no temptations on any levels from me. But lord those around me are hissing a fit because I wont have alcohol. I am so over them all and their persistent pressures. I want to tell them all (It is not me....it is you, there said it)
Now to get past News Years Eve AF as A.F. lol7 -
Had a few drinks tonight after 27 AF days in a row. Enjoying a little wine tonight but not getting crazy.7

Kept it AF last night to avoid the hot flashes, but it didn’t work. Oh well.
I hope everyone had a great Christmas. I know I did. Faith, family, and food… best 3 Fs in the world. 😁7 -
Christmas Day was AF for me. Today I went for a run and got in 2 miles even though I felt like a fat sausage in my spandex yoga capris. Just happy it didn't tear at the rear end seam.
@NonnieDoiron hot flashes last year drove me to comfort over-eat and drink, I'm not kidding. I'd walk around with a cold pack on my head, one shoved in my bra and another placed another on my back. I'd literally freeze myself twice a day like this. Red wine was the worst trigger followed by sugar and any hot liquid including soup. I'd get hot flashes after eating, while cooking, during meetings, in the middle of the night and have to sleep on a folded comforter to absorb the sweat. I had 2 settings: either roasting hot on fire or soaking wet. And if somebody decided to up the thermostat by 1 degree, my body told me right away, it was that sensitive. I was wrong to have self-medicated with ice cold white wine, because it helped lots but it wasn't the right remedy. Thank goodness for very low dose prescription hormone creams because that restored my sanity and made the hot flashes disappear.6 -
@globalhiker fortunately mine are not that bad, but they are pretty bad. I drinking definitely triggers them, but I have noticed eating has triggered it too. Sugar hasn’t affected me much, but that’s to my downfall with all the cookies and candy currently in our house. Fortunately, I don’t have to cook for a little bit.
I just had a request from my husband and his bestie to make mulled wine tonight. So, it looks like I’ll be drinking a glass tonight because I love mulled wine.3 -
Merry belated Christmas everyone!!!!! I haven’t checked in I about two weeks but did catch up on everyone’s posts. You guys are inspiring.
Drinking has increased a lot with the parties, etc. I’ve been having 2-4 drinks depending on the day. Yesterday I had more than that, and collapsed into a heap today-but that’s also what I do after hosting anything, and having my sister and BIL as houseguests.
Good news is that I don’t even want wine tonight, although the back of my head tells me I should have one glass. I don’t even want to try my NA wine. Just don’t want it. I took two naps today, still too full from yesterday, can’t really look at Christmas cookies anymore either.
I did drag myself to the gym to get back into my routine that got thrown off the last two weeks with being busy with holiday prep! Onwards.

5 more AF days left until I hit 4 months AF done mark. I still like to read about what everyone else is drinking, it doesn't tempt me.
I am though so full from the holidays that it's hard to plan New Years. But alas, the pork ribs are on sale and my husband got excited and is off hunting for New Years ribs. He does make incredible, perfect smoked ribs. Guess I am dieting this weekend to prepare for the next feast!7 -
@Womona I feel you! And happy to see you pop in. A busy household and flowing wine amidst a celebration is not so unusual. I looked at the N.A. wine I bought and didn’t want it either.
@tmbg1 I admire your conviction to quit A for the Advent season - well done!
@SurferGirl1982 you sound ready for a change and it sounds like a good idea (I think) to give it your best starting tomorrow before any potential New Years’ Eve temptations.
@globalhiker I laughed when I read your post about jogging in your yoga pants. Mine feel filled out from enjoying all the holiday fare. Your NY Eve dinner sounds wonderful. My husband does the same - yesterday….lets have this or that on new years and I’m like…..ok but I’m not hungry!

Had some red wine last night for the first time in weeks as the white I bought a couple weeks ago is officially gone. My plan for LA January is to go back to what works well for me - not buying wine to keep on hand. It’s too easy to have those glasses when it’s chilled in the refrigerator. I can just go buy small bottles on a planned day.
I’m thinking of a very dryish January- lord knows I need to cut down after plenty of merrymaking.
May you be enjoy a peaceful day everyone!
