Morning, kids,
Slept IN this morning, nearly 9 hours! Finally getting myself back around to my own routine...
Routines: One thing I did add to the routine in December is that I stop making other things at 2:30 p.m., and go relax with whatever I want to watch on the TV and some crochet to keep my hands occupied.
No taping, no editing, no writing, no exercising, no cleaning, no creative frenzies, no nothing until Corey gets home at 5 p.m. Just chilling. It's helping in some unexpected ways for my mental health.
This morning, I've got the last of the wood fires going in the living room fireplace, which has proved to do a lot to keep the gas bill reasonable... and I've got the self clean setting going on the oven in the kitchen, which is helping warm the rest of the living area. Corey cooks bacon in the oven a lot, and while it might be good for the bacon, the oven just gets grubby with the airborne grease.
It won't be good for the gas bill, unfortunately, because it's a gas oven, and it won't be done until nearly noon. Still better than me sticking my head in there with oven cleaner, though!
Just got off the phone with Cor for his good morning phone call - well worth sleeping in to get those! It's possible that the man is trying to train me to sleep in. 👀😍😜 He has a tendency to sneak vegetables into the food he cooks for both of us, too.
Doesn't help, just means whoever cleans up is scraping peas in the bin. They all still taste like green, bitter dirt to me. He's made some really good vegetable-based gravies without telling me what they were before I ate them, though. 😂🥰 He tells me cooking for me is like making dinner for a toddler. I don't think he means it as a compliment! 😹🤷🏻♀️👀
Anyway - frigidly cold outside, and no real plans to leave the house today. Might go in tomorrow if there's anything I want, as the snow is coming back Thursday night. Wednesday is a good day to go into town, as the thrift store has 30% off for veterans and Aldi's wall of shame new items go up. Seldom anything I want, just fun to look at!😹
Looking back at all this, my stars, I am completely in squirrel mode this morning! I'll go get squirrely on the things I want to do this morning...
Love y'all!

Cold here too! But it has been worse.
At least we are not in super sub zero weather. We also do not have snow so I am glad I put extra leaves on the garden this fall.
Another nice work of art from the Walker. The most iconic piece the Musuem has is the sculpture of a spoon with a cherry on it!6 -
I eat between 11:30 am and 8:30 pm. 9 hours of eating, 15 hours of not eating. That's how I have eaten most of my life except when I have studied late into the night. On those occasions I will keep nibbling till I go to bed. But that doesn't happen often now.
Machka in Oz
That is a good schedule.👍🏼 My sister was on a program which stressed eating multiple times a day. Either eating a bar, or a soup, or a bit of something every few hours. It did not work for her. It was fairly expensive too! But for some like our Barbie it works well.👍🏼

Rebecca, When I read this thread I notice lots of eating plans along with your intermittent fasting and there are so many ways we choose to eat. I learned a long time ago that the best eating plan is the one you'll follow. People with eating disorders who belong to Overeaters Anonymous often follow a plan of calling someone each morning to tell them what they plan to eat for the day and how they did the day before. Some if us eat simple foods, some eat unusual and interesting ones. I eat the same foods in rotation and am happy with the simplicity. Other people crave variety. That is one of the great things about this thread. We don't pass judgement of how other people eat. I cannot do intermittent fasting because my body needs to eat small meals every few hours. It works for me.
Heather, Jake was told by his cardiologist in August that he couldn't drive for six months because of the possibility of the recurrence of the event that had put him in the hospital. He was heartbroken and wanted so much to be able to drive. He had me to drive him to the places he wanted to go, but it wasn't the same as being able to drive on his own.

And that friend is why I am a lifelong member of this group. I truly feel cared about, with every weird thing I do in life whether its food related or not. Sad that the world does not take our blueprint in how we conduct ourselves, and treat others in here. Its respectful, nurturing, and we honor each other.💖

Today is Miles 3rd Birthday.. this is at daycare
And this is Miles waking up to his pals with Party hats on.9 -
Oh Allie-That pic of Delia is so cute! And what a nice birthday for Miles.
We are getting all kinds of weather warnings today. However, if you look out the window, you can't believe it. Dangerous winds, rain and snow in the mountains. Hard to believe.

So today was baby steps. I did only 25 min on the treadmill, because I kinda had a side ache the whole time. Just moved though, so there's that. My tummy wasn't flip floppy though, nor do I have a headache. Took my BP on the machine and its registering 109/83. Did it again, still about the same. HR was 136. Looked it up when I got home and its fairly normal to be -6 to -10 less when fasted. So no worries.
Opening my window at 10 am with 21 hours fasted under my belt. Having two meals today so my window will be open 5 hours and I will close it at 3 pm. First meal is husbands leftover potato skins from last night, with cheese and sour cream. Having some steak too. Next meal is 2 tacos and maybe a burrito. See how I feel. Ending with coffee the way I like it and some pink grapefruit.
As long as I don't nap during the day at all, nights have been good. My heating blanket on most of the night, as feeling extra cold when fasting is a thing. But when I sleep its soundly, and when I wake up no dry mouth, so a sign I am not snoring as much. Nose clearer. Just overall more restorative sleep which makes me happy. Totally worth this journey I've put myself on.👍🏼💖

Tracey – Jess lives about 2-1/2 hours away. The reason she came one day and returned that day was because she was out late the night before so she wanted to sleep before coming here since she needed to pick up her contact lenses
brigitte – welcome!
No snow here (natch) but very cold and dismal. It was raining lightly this morning. When I got home from work Vince asked if the roads were icy. No, they weren’t but it’s nice that he’s concerned.
Bowling today. Then ceramics tonight
Rita – good luck at the eye MD
Tues here:
deb – oh, dear, I hate to say it, but the plan for MIL doesn’t sound very good. I can see her just doing what she wants to do (not sleeping in the bed), no one can change her mind, her driving off someone to be with her 24/7. She didn’t walk for PT and she surely won’t for you. Sounds to me like PT is basically saying “just let her be happy until she dies”
No work tomorrow so I’ll do a spinning workout and then go in the pool
Rebecca – I love that we all care about one another, miss people when they don’t show up for a time, makes me feel good
Happy Birthday Miles!
Well, Vince is at the cardiologist so I’ll go out and start on taking down more of the decorations. He said he was going to start when he got back. It’s cold out (38) for here so I may come in a few times just to warm my hands. Ceramics tonight

Ah, Rebecca, you do inspire me... To the point that I got up on the elliptical for ten minutes. Thank you. I am tired of feeling my flesh sliding down my body, and the only thing that will change that is me. The key, of course, isn't doing it today, but making it a habit. I have to start somewhere, though.
Finished my fifth on-body Skyrizi injection. They mail them to me, and honestly they look just like the old instant throw-away cameras you could buy and turn in to get photos developed. Let a little vial of liquid get to room temperature, shove it in the side of the thing, then stick it to your body. Push a button, it takes like five minutes for it to inject, with a loud buzzy noise the whole time. Blue light says it's ready. Green says it's working. Beep says it's done.
Fingers crossed it will move me closer to normal. I'm not far away now. Still won't travel, but if this one works like the rest have to diminish the symptoms, I won't have many more excuses.
Well, except the fact that I don't want to, and you can't make me. 😜😝
I've traveled and lived all over this octant of the world (from the US to UK and back, with quick trips to Germany). Won't tempt fate by saying "never," but sitting still looks awfully good to me these days.
Keeping the fire going (still hasn't gotten higher than freezing outside) and constructing a bag. Egg keeps going out to check and see if it's gotten warmer.
It has not.
Heather - The kids all look like they're having fun... sorry about John's car...
Kylia - Good wishes for the kittens' surgeries, hope they go easily and painlessly.
Allie - Happy birthday to Dan, it looks like y'all had a great time. Miss Delia looks like she's a smiler, too, and Happy Birthday to Miles!
Later, my dears,
Love,
Lisa

I had to be at the surgery center this morning at 6:30 a.m. i was back home before 10. I am in bed with my knee resting on a pillow. I am not in pain other than a slight headache, probably from no caffeine. I’ve made two successful trips to the bathroom, which was my biggest worry. Dave just made me a sandwich which I ate, then took a pain pill to stay ahead of the pain.
Overall, I’m feeling pretty good.13 -
Betsy! So good to see you. Glad you're OK. Have wondered how you and your sister are doing...
Kay - Glad you're home and healing. Hope it's a swift and pain-free recovery.
Accomplished my objective for today, with the outside of a bag constructed. Been playing with this one since November! It's turned out more like I hoped than most, though. Pleased so far. Now to create a liner and a structure that I like...
But I'm done for today. Time to enjoy this last wood fire - moving back to the gas stove again for the rest of the winter, as we've burned through the majority of the big tree we had felled. A few more huge pieces required a new chain for the chainsaw, and are too big to burn. They'll keep.
Later, y'all,
Love,

Congrats on the elliptical use! The most important thing is doing you girlfriend! I'm only on day 2 of this gym thing. Today I literally had no energy in the tank! After my leftover potato skins, my two tacos, a small container of grapefruit, AND a bagel with cheese and tomato slices I think I am finally happy for the day. Keeping my eating window open for another hour and a half so I can get in another cup of coffee with sweetener. It will be my third cup of coffee but only my second cup with sweetener. Tonight I should sleep better.💖
I have become quite the homebody too. Kind of like I have done all my socializing and I covet my solitude that much more. 😁

Oh Debbie, I'm so sorry. I wish there was something I could say that could ease your burden. So sad. I get that it's better to try to keep his mom at her home where she's comfortable, but what about DH and what about you? There is something to be said for your mental health. For his mental health. You can't pour out of an empty vessel. I sure hope that his mother comes to appreciate all he does for her. (and what you've done too) As someone said, maybe the stint in the hospital will change her attitude a bit.
Allie I just cannot believe that SMiles is THREE years old! What a darling.

Hello Wonderful friends,
I just finished catching up on your lives. You all have been tremendously busy. I decluttered the top of my dresser and my bathroom window. All the Christmas decor is pretty much put away. My mom's tree is still up. I got a call from the nursing home, and they want me to take my mom to the dentist. I called and explained that she gave the dentist a hard time and that they thought it was better to treat her for pain and let her be. They are continuing to call. I asked DH to explain that she didn't care for her teeth and refused to brush them. Even when I was little, I told her not to kiss me cause she had bad breath. When the dentist said to leave her be, I removed her dental insurance. I will see how much it will cost to take her to UMMC School of Dentistry. It is hard cause my mom doesn't want a bath, let alone a teeth cleaning. I know my dentist will work with her. Paying 4800 a month doesn't leave a lot of money left.
DS needs a new computer for school, so I will see if he can get a line of credit. DH told me he noticed I made many changes to the house now that he is gone. I told him that it is nice to make everything look nice, but I also told him that I had no input on what the condo in Chicago looks like. I had a lovely weekend at work. I had some great kids. I had a two-year-old who told me I was mean after I flushed her line. Then I had her giggling. I tried to teach this mom that she could not make her child wait for hours to eat—breastfed babies nurse as needed. Then we noticed his weight was in the 0.5 percentile, so we told her she needed to breastfeed more or go to formula. I think she was listening to some goofball on TikTok. It is nice having DS here. I chuckle, listening to Rose barking at him to do what she wants. I warned him that Rose could be bossy. Then he argues back at her, and then he gives in. I aim to read more books, travel, get my certification, get my passport, work on my Spanish, and lose at least 35 pounds, but 75 would be better. I want to get back to exercising. Do something each week that makes me happy.
Welcome, Bridget and KJ!
Flea, I love your money tree!
Kylia, I got your message, and I sent you one.
Debbie, you are handling the situation well. Let your DH handle it all, and you do your own thing. I wondered why your MIL's dog can't move in with you. The cats may get ticked off about it. I avoid matters that deal with my MIL and let the 3-4 kids decide.
Heather, I wish my kids had a relationship with my kids like you do with your grandkids. My kids would cry when they had to visit.
Lisa, it is cold here in Mississippi, and I know it is colder in Arkansas. Are there any updates on how your daughter is doing? Are they back in Hawaii yet?
Barbie, I went back to read about the change in cars and genuinely believe he was looking out for you.
Pip, How are you doing with all of your fur babies?
Dr. Katie, I hope you will heal fast.
Rita, Lanette, and Carol, I hope you are well.
Rebecca, how is your hand? Is the bruising gone?
Allie, you had a lovely celebratory party at the restaurant and for Miles's birthday. How are Kyle and Tracey doing? Are they working it out?
Michelle, do you work out with friends or alone?
Margaret, that was a beautiful painting. I love the flowers you bring to post.
Rori, where are you going to travel to this year?
Tracey, Roger would be more receptive if you talked to him in a loving voice. My DH is not handy at all, and it is up to me to make repairs. My aunt taught me. My dad relied on me to fix things in the house. If I couldn't do it, we called someone in. When my mom left us when I was 9, I had to do laundry, write checks out to pay the bills and make calls to get a repair guy in. I had to study how checks were written in the past, and my dad would mail out the bills. That is why when my DH moved to Chicago, I was okay. My Dh hires a guy to mow the lawn and rake leaves. My dad always had done the same. It is interesting how we had different experiences.
Machka, I am inspired to visit Australia and New Zealand. When it warms up in Mississippi, I will buy my bike.
Barbara, I am so glad they rescheduled your appointment for safer weather.
Welcome back, Carla! I look forward to getting to know you.
My orthotic is bothering me and causing a lot of pain in my hip, so I am not wearing it. Hopefully, I can come in and order one for the other foot. My headaches have been waking me up, so I put on an ice pack and went back to sleep. Aging is not easy.
You all stay safe and warm.
XO,
Mo from Mississippi

Welcome @brigittethomson ! What a stressful year. Sorry for the loss of your parents and imho, selling your home of 18 years also counts as a loss to be grieved. Hope the two foot surgeries brought you relief and improved mobility. I miss the daily feed too.
Rebecca, how dare he indeed! IMHO if Joe checked the dryer to see if I’d done laundry, then I might have to check under the sink to see if he’d taken the garbage out. So thankful that is not our dynamic. Con VERY gratulations, those are some solid baby steps!
Tracey Kaitlyn’s “Junk” journal looks prettier and much more artistic than my mental image was I am with you and Kylia about fish :sick: except the tuna salad I make. ;}
The drug advertisements in the US are ludicrous, everything Machka said, and the singing ones are the worst.
Allie the birthday and Delia pics. Happy birthday sMiles!
Lisa refraining from giving unasked for advice is a super challenge to me, but the few times I was able to do it reaped relationship rewards .
Kylia that’s quite a front lawn. SMH your blind DH really drives the UTV to plow the drive. How useful would he feel if he crashed it?
Barbie I remember you telling us about Jake’s culinary and breadmaking adventures. Good memories. I hear you about the gradual change and not necessarily liking to be in charge of meals but if not you then not happening. ((hugs))
Heather is Max getting a moustache??? Noooo tooo soooon!!!!
Flea, looked “Catan” Up and read in Wikipedia the first 3 paragraphs of gameplay instruction before my eyes rolled back in my head. . .
Rita fingers Xd for favorable Dr appointments. Thanks for the smile a days
Lanette the hospital bed shortage is so scary, and likewise the shortage of doctors and nurses. Something has to change.
Pip 9.58 min mile on the 5K? Bravissima!
Ginny that is a lot of driveway and a lot of snow to shovel. Well done! Glad your social security benefits will have a smaller reduction due to the gov’t pension.
Sorry beloved UKers, but Vegemite, Marmite and boorish? I’d as soon eat fish paste
Carol how is your DH doing and how are YOU doing? ((hugs))
Lisa what is Aldi’s wall of shame?
Betsy welcome home, you’ve been missed!
Kay thanks for checking in. Praying your recovery is easy and complete.
Supplements: morning: psyllium fiber 3 caps, calcium magnesium 2 caps, women’s multivitamin one cap, niacinimide one cap (to reduce chances of future skin cancer), strontium one cap (part of protocol to rebuild bones), turmerin with black pepper (anti-inflammatory); afternoon: psyllium fiber 3 caps, D3K2 one cap, milk thistle (liver support) one cap. Don’t know if its one, or a combination of some, the timing, or the combination with chai or mint tea that triggers the GERD and retching. So far ok with Lemon Lift tea, and supplements right after eating.
Today’s gratitude: Minimal body aches after Monday’s return to BB&B after a week without. Whatever will I do after Coach is out for two weeks?
Later, lighter, lovelies!

Hi, stumbled upon this group. I'm Sharron from Northern Virginia. I'm in my 60s and am hyper-thyroid challenged. Been on, but mostly off mfp for decades. I've reached a peak in my weight and am back to course correct my life. God bless!8

Kittens are safely home. They literally will not move with "cone of shame" on. I improvised with one of DH's hankies and some tape. Cali is restless and keeps growling and hissing at Tori. Tori is currently asleep in my arms.
Of course I need to do some work and we haven't had dinner yet.....but she is sleeping so peacefully. Cali is on my bed. They are use to sleeping with us so not sure how tonight will go of i lock them in the shower...especially with Miss Attitude aka Cali.
Sold a few more snowblowers today. Almost out...need about 8 more inches of snow and then we will sell out. Most of what is left is battery powered.
Granddaughter had her court appearance today for "street racing". It got knocked down to a minor misdemeanor, $300 fine, 4 points on her license, and strict instructions from the judge to stay out of trouble! She has only been driving a few months-geez! She did have to take the online defensive driving class and passed the test with 80%. I am proud of her for that as she is a rotten test taker!
She said, I played the game and now I have to pay the price. Smart girl!
Cali let DH pet her, so that is good.
It sounds like a lot of us are on the path of healing whether that is weight, emotional, or physical. I am glad we continue to share, advise, and offer options with each other.
Be nice to yourself first!
Much love for you all!

Not sure what happened to my post from yesterday.
Anyway DH's surgery is scheduled for next Thursday Jan 16th. He had his preop done today so is all set. Doctor said he will only be in hospital over night.
It is so cold and I do not like going out.
Going to bed early as can't think.

Vicki Glad to hear that your husband's surgery is not too far off.
Betsy, Good to see you again.

Sharron, welcome.

We are doing great with the kids. They are dream kids, they don’t react to other dogs coming towards them. They walk really good on leash. They get along with each other.
I just clarified with someone on what I can or can not eat before my colonoscopy. It’s in 3 days so I will be living on chicken or beef broth, boiled eggs and tea. Anxious to see how much more weight I lose, lololol

He still isn't sure what he will do- now he is back thinking about putting her in a place for a couple months so we can get the house ready and hire help (and also see how she does with other people and see how it is to not get every thing she wants the second she thinks about it)
We have calls in to two places. One we can go look at anytime, the other was having their yearly state visit when he called so she will call him back tomorrow- that one our friend referred us and it is very close to our house and the price is a bit lower than the other one. The other one is run by a friend of the social worker at the rehab place so she is pushing him to go check that place out- It is on the other side of town. He will find out on Thursday when they are kicking her out.
Walked with my friends for an hour last night- It was super foggy- hair was damp when we got done and it was chilly but it was fun. We plan on walking at least twice a week until class starts back up.
Between that and walking the dog, I ended the day with about 16,500 steps. Hip was really hurting when I went to bed. Took Tylanol and turned the heating pad on. It was better today.
Today I went and took the dog out for a long walk. just shy of an hour. It actually wore him out.
At almost 12,000 steps so far, though I won't be getting too many more tonight. I am tired.
Allie- Seeing the pictures of your grandkids really makes me miss the little ones. It was a lot of work when I had all the daycare kids but it was fun too. I prefer the really little ones. Not a fan of school age kids but I do enjoy not working 11 hrs a day.
Mo-this is hard on dh because he is the only one to take care of her. He had a brother, who was her favorite, that died 10 yrs ago in a car accident. At 49yrs old, he was still living at home and she did every single thing for him, including packing his lunch, doing his laundry, buying his clothes, cooking all meals, etc. It would be great if he did have siblings to help out. There is one niece who lives in Osaka but MIL cussed her out one too many times and now her niece doesn't want to talk to her ever again.
I am sure dh will eventually talk about bringing the dog here but I am not ready for that. He isn't trained well. She should never have picked him. 85 and picked a 9month old PUPPY. We are trying to get all the cats to get along, don't need to add a dog to it but may end up that way. We used to have a dog(two at different times) but we only had 2 cats at the time and they were really calm dogs.
Kylia- We are hoping to get all three of our girls fixed on 1/17. Our friend who helps with the TNR is going to see if she can get them in. Hopefully that works out and maybe they will settle down a little after it. They really can be crazy wild.

I am not in pain other than a slight headache, probably from no caffeine. I’ve made two successful trips to the bathroom, which was my biggest worry. Dave just made me a sandwich which I ate, then took a pain pill to stay ahead of the pain.
Overall, I’m feeling pretty good.
Oh happy everything went well! Be easy on yourself, and order "nicely" husband around.😁👍🏼

Mo, ah you sound like you have been busy busy! I admire your positive outlook on things.💖. Oh my hand is peachy, no black and blue mark left. I think it helped to rub the bruise/knot and break it up.
I'm sorry your orthotic is giving you hip pain. Big hugs!

We are doing great with the kids. They are dream kids, they don’t react to other dogs coming towards them. They walk really good on leash. They get along with each other.
I just clarified with someone on what I can or can not eat before my colonoscopy. It’s in 3 days so I will be living on chicken or beef broth, boiled eggs and tea. Anxious to see how much more weight I lose, lololol

Oh Pip do you have Bag Balm? That is a life saver for me during the "elimination phase" as a barrier ointment on your backside. It comes in a pretty green tin with a cow on the front at most pharmacies. Its called bag balm because farmers used it on cows udders to stop them from getting chapped. Worked so well we just took the tin in the house over the years.😁👍🏼
Hope the procedure is smooth and uneventful.👍🏼
