@chris_in_cal I need the accountability as well. My weight is going up and I am not happy with that.

Did my Sunday Rest day walk between church and lunch. I'm going to try to get myself up and go to the gym in the morning. Since I found out it is closing, I'm just not as motivated to go. Seems like it should be the opposite.7 -

Safe travels @WarmJellyfish!

Hi Everyone!
Great long run @SummerSkier ! You are having an awesome month!
@chris_in_cal I Agree! Motivation is great when you have it, but you need discipline and accountability for times when your motivation is in hiding (which is more often than not).
The weather over here has warmed up and was quite mild this morning. I ran 14.2km. To be honest, I am having to adjust to not being on the treadmill. My mind is thinking, wow, I have such a long way to go, whereas on the treadmill, I was just always THERE. Weird. On the treadmill there was no pressure, and I told myself, you can stop at any time, after x km, so I just was in the moment and generally kept on going. I noticed today that I was getting into my head thinking about all the landmarks I still had to pass to reach my destination. Tomorrow I will do my long run. I'm still coughing, but it is getting a bit better every day.
237.4/280km for January.

Morning everyone
Got in 5.0M at 10"093 -
Nice 2 in a day running @Teresa502 . Did you get more snow last night? We just had rain here.
@Laurz9191 Glad you are feeling better and have better weather. Running outside vs the treadmill is a lot more different (is that proper English?) than it should be. I can see how it would get in your head. You did great.
Very consistent @tarun_yadavA .

I'm the opposite of you...I cannot STAND running on a treadmill. For long runs, I have someone drop me off in the middle of nowhere, and then I HAVE to keep going, or I won't get home. A great motivator! lol8 -

Well I'm back home. @quilteryoyo @Teresa502 thanks for the wishes
Yesterday the jet lag really kicked my butt. There is a 15 hour time difference between Singapore and here. I might be falling asleep during the evening runs this week.
@swimbikerun_repeat I had thought of the drop off/run back using Uber, but my trail runs are so far away in the middle of nowhere. So I do loop routes or out and backs. Usually the first half feels great, and then 2nd half, when tired, still have to get back.
We're going to have great weather this week, forecasted to range from 5c to 10c! Thanks to the Chinook.
Next week, it all goes to sh$T with temps around -20c/-4f for a couple of weeks without the wind chill.....sigh, I think I overdid the bring the cold weather dance when I was in Singapore. Between Friday and Sunday, it will be a 30c degree drop. After so many years here, it still boggles the mind.

That is awesome! LOL. I don't have anyone in my household/area that would be getting up early enough to take me anywhere! But, I too dislike running on the treadmill (I prefer to call it dreadmill) but I have compromised this year for my really short runs.

@rusgolden @WarmJellyfish I'm lucky to live on the edge of a National Forest and near a few Wilderness Areas, so if I have to, I can get to them after a relatively short walk from my house. I DO prefer to be dropped-off, though, as it doesn't give you the option to quit!...lol6 -

I’m way behind in everyones posts. That cold or flu really got me but I’m feeling a lot better. I kept up with the short runs just to get them done but I’ve had no energy & fell asleep as I sit down. I’ve somehow 😅 hit my 50 mile goal so hoping I might gett 60 before the end of the week8 -
4/1 5.1km parkrun (6.54/km pace)
6/1 1.4km benchmark run
8/1 6.5km easy run (7:51/km pace)
12/1 6.45km time trial run (7:20/km pace)
13/1 5.54km tempo run (7:32/km pace)
15/1 6.47km steady state run (7:12/km pace)
17/1 5km easy run (7:53/km pace)
24/1 5km easy run (7:50/km pace)
27/1 5.67km tempo run (7.35/km pace) 1mile easy run, 1mile tempo, recovery then 1mile easy run
Great idea on getting dropped off somewhere and having to run home. At the moment with the evenings going dark I stick to running on the streets around my house, but it is a bit repetitive.
@SummerSkier great long run
@WarmJellyfish that is a massive temperature drop! Especially just coming back from a much warmer place
Goal for January 60 km
46.13 km done, 13.87 still to run6 -

That's so interesting! I have never had that feeling on a treadmill. It always feels soooo long and knowing I can just stop at any time makes it worse. The ifit workouts have helped some with that feeling.6 -
I'm in the med center for work for a few days. When I finished with work and got checked in I just wasn't feeling it. Again. It was damp and cool and I just didn't want to deal with it. So, I went to the hotel gym and did a walk on the treadmill instead. Maybe tomorrow.9
-
Back to the usual routine.
At 104.6km of 150ks for the month. Might make it, just maybe.
Not running today as all I want to do is sleep.... lol. I might miss a red light or two if I try to run and then get run over by a car...
@Laurz9191 I hadn't run on a treadmill in years, until that one day in Sg when it was pouring and there was a TM available. I was dreading it until I started having conversations with myself and then the kms just went past. I notice being on a belt is so much easier even though I set the gradient up at 1.5% and for rolling hills. Great for speedwork tho.
@Emilienewme the temp drops not as bad as the migraines people here get due to the severe pressure changes that also comes along. I'm lucky I'm immune to those.
7 -
Glad you made it home safely @WarmJellyfish . That is a huge drop in temps. My question is, how does it rain with the temps at -17C? (Friday night forecast) Better to sleep and not run if you are in danger of "running" red lights.
You did great @Mari33a . I'm glad you are finally feeling better.
@martaindale Way to hit the treadmill and get a walk in when you weren't really feeling like doing anything.

I tried to go to the gym this morning. I was not totally surprised when I pulled up to see that all the equipment was gone and he had already closed for good. I have been looking at the other gyms in the area and decided which one I thought might be the best fit for me. So, I drove there and just went in and talked to them. I made an appointment for what they call a "success session" with a personal trainer on Wed to discuss goals, prices, etc. I'll probably give it a go for at least a month and see if I like it or not.
After I got home, I did a treadmill session. I did a run/walk of 4/1 min for 3.0 miles and then ran half a mile at 4.5 mph. Avg pace for the entire 3.50 miles was 12:21 min/mile. Avg HR was 130 with a max of 154 bpm.
Tonight, I played doubles tennis for a bit over 2 hours. It's the first time I've been on the courts since 7 Oct. Considering it has been almost 4 months since I have played, I did pretty good and it was fun.8 -

I ran 6.5 miles today. It was cold at 27°F, but not windy. I felt good and enjoyed the run. My watch glitched again today so that was annoying. I was just about to hit 5 miles and had just looked at my watch and it said 4.97. When I got it back it said 4.93, so I will stick with 6.5. I had also turned on zombies run radio mode in case I had an issue, and the distance on that matched so Ifeel comfortable saying 6.5. I don't know if it is a cold thing or a battery thing, but it sure is annoying. I sure don't want to have to replace it, but I also hate having unreliable tech.

Treadmill better than nothing. You're doing so well. We all have "I don't wanna" days. Keep plugging away!6 -
Hi everyone!
I finally got a looong run in. I fought myself through the first half. Do you guys ever have that voice in your head that says, why don’t we just go on a regular run, no one will know…. You can do the long run tomorrow. For some reason I always have to deal with the voice on any “planned” long run and it is a very loud voice . In any case, I was planning on running 25km and I ran 27km, so I guess I got the best of my “lazy” voice this time . The weather is very mild and there was no significant wind. I did pick a lot of hills for the run today.
@martaindale I had never had the feeling on the treadmill before either. I usually can’t wait to get off of it. But now I guess I appreciate it a bit more as a training tool. I think I even might opt to do my speed workout for the week at the gym. I agree with @Scott6255 You still got treadmill miles in! I hope you have more energy today !
@kgirlhart Sorry to hear about your tech! Hope it doesn’t act up again! That’s really annoying.
Yesterday I dropped my phone while running, then preceded to step on it (it wasn’t one of my most graceful moves). Of course it wasn’t in a case or anything remotely protective . My first instinct before stopping to *kitten* the damage on my phone - stop the timer on my Garmin. I know my priorities .
264.5/280km for January.8 -
@quilteryoyo I’m sorry to hear your old gym is already closed! I hope the new one work out!
@WarmJellyfish Welcome home! Hope you get over your jet lag and weather shock quickly and that you can be awake enough to go running!!!!5 -

Good morning – back to running early mornings and it feels so good to get it done!
@WarmJellyfish – your body is going to be so confused with all the weather swings!
Glad you are feeling better @Mari33a.
Hope the new gym is a good fit for you @quilteryoyo. Are any of the other former members going there? Seeing familiar faces might help ease your transition.
@kgirlhart - My running friend S is having trouble with her Garmin lately. She fully charges it but sometimes she only gets 4 miles before it says low battery and then shuts down. This morning it told her low battery but when she got it home and plugged it in it showed a 77% charge. I hope that yours works the kinks out soon.
Way to talk down the lazy voice @Laurz9191. Most of my long run are with other people so that accountability factor keeps me locked in. Glad you stopped your Garmin before retrieving your phone! Lol!
