I am 52 years old.
I was born with multiple hereditary exostoses. Imagine spikes in your muscles and limited mobility in your joints. I have a pretty severe case of it. Arthritis is a side effect. The details are way too long to list. The summery is that my body is always under a constant state of stress. I can't stand for more than 10 minutes without pain. As for exercise, the more i move the more i hurt. So for right now exercising is not part of my plan.
I am diabetic. So I am focusing on getting protein and fiber which for the most part keeps me around 20g of sugar a day or under.
I am 5'2"
starting weight 238.4 lbs
I have learned that I cannot eat 2 salads in one day. my salads are huge. it's amazing (or terrifying) how much greenery you can put in for less than 400 calories (half calories tuna & cheese).
I also went out to eat with my mother twice this week where I at a small breakfast and simply enjoyed whatever I wanted while I was in her company.
The first month is usually easy. I would say this is my fourth attempt at losing weight. At one point of my life i would have been mortified to be over 200 lbs. Now I will be happy to get under that.
week 1 ending weight 233.2 lbs
total loss 5.2 lbs

Thanks tailwinds. And carbs don't make people fat Lifetimer. Overeating makes people fat. It doesn't matter what type of calorie it is if you over consume.

Week 3 results (almost forgot) 226.2lbs
    12.2 lb loss

You are welcome GGG and I know what I am guilty of. I am fat and I overate lol. My aunt used to believe that the fat in food made you fat. I still have to remind her that it doesn't.

Time for a reality check this week.
    Starting weight 338.4
    Week 4 weight 225.8
    loss from last week 0.4
    Total loss 12.6

I won't lie and say this week's total is disappointing. But it is negative so it has to be a win. I've been posting in my community and am creating a stretching routine. I can't believe it tuckers me out and I'm not even done with it yet.

I got a walker today and discovered that I am weak. I used to pick up 50lbs boxes without issue. This thing was 20lbs and I struggled. I definitely won't be able to handle a powered wheel chair. Dealing with strength issues will have to be a long way off. I won't be using the walker for exercise. My ability to stand would have me sitting on it more than having any meaningful benefit. But at least now if I need to go somewhere that doesn't offer mobility carts I can.

I hope everyone is having the kind of week they worked for.

    Starting weight 238.4
    week 5 weight 227.3
    Weight Gained 1.4 lbs

I had a couple of days that went slightly off the rails though I know I didn't eat enough to gain 1.4lbs of fat. I did exercise 1 day and regretted it for the next 2. Imagine sticking nails through your muscles and forcing them to function. That is what it is like for me. I was too ambitious because the video should have been 'easy'.

Today I weighed 226.6. I also found a lower impact video to do. I will work on building my endurance slowly. See you all here next week.

It's that time of the week again! I'm so excited (ok that is sarcasm) but the scale moved in the right direction this time!

    starting weight 238.4lbs
    week 6 weight 224.6lbs
    week loss 2.6lbs
    total loss 13.8lbs

I did get down to 223.2lbs this week. but that was a 2lb drop over night. I knew I would bounce up. I've been drinking too much soda that week and likely got dehydrated.

The boyfriend brought me candy... twice... grumble. What part of me being healthier suggests that you should be giving me candy. Cheep fake flowers work just as well for Valentines day as a small box of chocolates :P

I did eat a whole bag of white cheddar cheetos after eating my planned meals. So i had twice the calories I should have. but I'm ok with it. Next month I vow to only bring one bag home instead of two.

tonight I am going to the Olive Garden with the boyfriend and my mother. Lunch was half a zucchini in walked farms thousand island so i have something on my stomach and I won't have to worry about what I eat tonight.

I hope all of you had the week you expected and that you keep moving forward.

I have found this to be true for me also. If I eat salads and limit carbs I lose weight! Of course I'm trying to stay under 1200 calories to boot but still if I don't watch carbs, I do not lose weight. I am looking forward to the day when I can eat sensible carbs but until then I limit them a lot. I'm down 40 pounds so far and looking for that much more!

I don't watch carbs and I'm a diabetic. I've never watched carbs when losing weight. Not when I lost the 42 pounds, the 30 pounds, the 20 pounds or the current 13.8 lbs. i'm not sure how physics works in your world but eating 1200 calories of carbs (assuming that is the only calories) and eating 1200 calories of protein or 1200 calories of fat is the EXACT same number of fuel.

A calorie is a unit of energy equivalent to the heat energy needed to raise the temperature of 1 gram of water by 1 °C (now often defined as equal to 4.1868 joules).
