SophieRosieMom wrote: »Heather - Dawn "The Minimal Mom" came up in my feed this morning. I watched that video and then her husband's. I'm glad she and the kids are able to live with her parents.
Lisa - thank you for sharing the "before" and "after" photos. Amazing difference, you lost not only pounds but years as well I think, and your beauty shines through.
Rebecca - cute haircut, she did a great job. I think it will grow out beautifully. Very attractive style on you!
Terri - thank you for sharing your graduation photo, you looked great (and still do!). Love everyone sharing their pictures - seems like yesterday, doesn't it?
Margaret - sorry about the fall, glad you are OK. I just detest walking on ice or anything slippery, for that matter, and have my yak-traks ready for our upcoming snow, rain and below freezing nights. Also need to get the snow shovel and push broom ready today. Maybe if I'm prepared to the hilt the weatherman will change the forecast.
Rita - glad you got into the doctor and that breathing treatment helped. Hope you get over everything quickly!
Lunch with T and a former co-worker tomorrow, Pat. She's also retired and was one of my favorite people. Really looking forward to seeing her again.
Make it a great day!

Thanks, the stylist is a Navy mom too, so we're always talking about my sons.💖5 -

Napa Valley CA, I always wake up crying, or overly emotional. My husband however, he's like sawing cords of wood and just embarrassingly loud. He sleeps before and after his procedures. Enough so, that sometimes the nurses think he's already HAD the procedure. He seems to shed the drugs really quickly too. Like the nurses say that he can leave when he can move his toes, so then he moves his toes. They look puzzled and exclaim, "you're not supposed to be able to do that". Lol!

Went to the gym and did spinning, then Aldi. I’m STARTING to get ready for FL. Yes, I know it’s in 2 weeks. But I’m starting to get things we need to take with us (like buying a small bottle of vitamins, small calcium, being sure to at least have Cheerios – things like that). I do need to look and see what we will need for when we get back from FL (by this I mean food, like chicken, beef, etc) and start cooking. I make brownies to take the day before we go.
Lisa – how I wish I could crochet in the round!
Rebecca – you have such a good body image. I can’t help thinking that the nudist colony/clothing optional place helped with this.
Tracey – yes, it is good that the soup kitchen can afford to move. However, I can’t help wondering if they’ll have a mortgage. I know one of the reasons they didn’t move sooner was because the building they are in now is paid off. But now I understand they’ve run out of room
I’m so disappointed. I saw these rolling laundry carts, they were hard sided, 12x12x15 high. They would have been real nice for the posts for our Christmas decorations. As it is now, we store the posts in cardboard boxes, but the boxes are starting to deteriorate. By the time we got there to buy them (maybe 3 days later) they were all gone. I do have a picture of it, but I can’t see the mfg. Name. Oh well…..
Mo – I used to knit but for some reason don’t now, not sure why. I don’t have a problem doing it, tho. I just hate quilting. The cyst on my back must have had a lot of pus because the doc squeezed and squeezed and squeezed. No, they didn’t put me on any antibiotics. He did say to come back in 6 weeks, but we’ll be in FL then so I will go around March 27 or so. The only thing is right now the cyst, while it doesn’t hurt, is not flush with my back. I wonder if that part just takes time. I’m sorry about your dad. Guess it’s a good thing I’m working at Burger King, even IF it’s only for 3 or 4 hours.
Have yogurt in the IP today. Bought the milk at Aldi and decided to just make it since I have the time. Just put a load of laundry in. I’m thinking that I’ll walk to Food Lion and get a bit more meat. Pork chops are on sale, hope they are the ones I’m thinking of. If not, I’ll have to find other meat we’ll need for when we get back and I’ll get that. See, if I buy a bit more meat in this month, I can get $3 off my next order.
Barbie – when my mother was alive, I don’t remember eating meals out. Just after she died, I guess it was faster for my father. But he still did a lot of cooking at home. And he became a fabulous cook. Messy, but a great cook.
Rita – are you sure that doctor has his head on straight? “No nutritional value in vegetables” Never heard something so crazy
I found some quilt blocks among MIL’s things and also the top for another quilt. I had someone quilt them for me. One I have as a bedspread down at the condo and the other (because it’s the wedding ring pattern) I’ll use as a bedspread/blanket for the other bed at the condo. Have no idea who made them – her mother? Her sister? I don’t think MIL made them, probably her mother but I don’t know that for sure. It’s all hand sewn. When I had them quilted, she did use the sewing machine.
My aunt hand quilted a really intricate quilt for my shower (47 years ago). I’m still amazed at how tiny she made the stitches. My mother did x-stitch these squares that make a blanket for a queen bed (maybe it was meant to be a bedspread for a double bed?) Unfortunately, you can see how the stitches got worse as she got worse. But her sister (same aunt) quilted it. That one’s intricate, too. Wish I knew someone who would appreciate the work for the quilt but the top isn’t that good. I don’t want to donate it to the Salvation Army because they won’t appreciate it.
Walked down to Food Lion. Pork chops are on sale, normally $4.49/lb on sale for $2.79/lb so got some for the freezer. Also wanted to get chicken thighs to make for when we get back.
Bowling tonight. Vince won’t go but I will

Just got out of the shower and got some clean clothes on..and gave myself my Trulicity shot..im just chilling here in bed with Alfie.. still tired..probably because I haven't eaten much..but not hungry today..which is fine.Been drinking water so theres fluids going in anyway.
Toms on his way back home.the closing went well .and he can breath a sigh of relief that he doesn't have another property to worry about.
And Dan and his buddys are moving the rest of his stuff today..he will crash on my couch for the next couple nights and will go there Friday.
Alfie and I snuggled up as its breezy outside.6 -
Michele- I was just lying on the sofa, reading the posts, and you mentioned making yoghurt! I had forgotten to get mine started tonight, so immediately put down the phone and rushed out to do it. Thank you!!!
My back is sore this afternoon. I hope it's just that I have been sleeping the wrong way, and not my kidneys.
I've had no energy today.

Great job on BP. Is that 130 pulse a resting pulse? If it is have you discussed with your medical team why it is so high and what would help to lower it.
I would say today my leg pain is now 0 just an occasional minor twinge. Side is now 75% better than it was an hour after fall. I have noticed from other injuries in my life you don't feel the pain for about an hour after it happens then it hits. I did sleep better last night so that helps too! I will continue on my treatment and be more careful. If it does not continue to get better or suddenly gets worse I will go in for further treatment.
That is my pulse as I am walking on the treadmill. Right after I get off the treadmill after walking for 30 minutes, I check my blood pressure. Its usually 118 pulse by then. Once when I had fasted that morning, my BP was 109/79. Still on the lower end of normal. Gone are the days when my BP was 155/95. My meds and cleaner eating is helping.👍🏼

Michele NC I have a distinct memory back in 2006 when we camped at the resort with a 4 person tent, and mesh enclosure. I was sitting on our mat in the enclosure peeling an orange. I was looking at my nude form with imperfections here and there and I just was grateful. It also helped that I met a lot of what I would label, "the beautiful people of the world". In the textile world (the world outside of the nudist resort) I wouldn't have been approached by these people, I was not in their realm. But there, it really didn't matter, we were all just humans after all. It also helped to participate in the yearly summer talent shows. I would stand up on stage, singing my opera a Capella, and it was great. Most of the times it was with a swag around my waist like a simple skirt, with a pretty necklace and flipflops. That was it, and heck I would just imagine the audience all naked (and they were) so there was that.😂 It was a place my form made sense, was totally accepted. We are all nude under our clothes.😁👍🏼

This is a pic of me at my heaviest 330 pounds.
That was Julia’s middle school graduation. That might not be the healthiest pic. Maybe Horace’s graduation from high school.
Here are my high school pictures.

Rebecca That 130 pulse makes sense since it is after exercising! Keep up the good work!

Great photos Mo! You have an awesome smile!
Today I made soup out of the roast leftovers. I cut up the cooked carrots, potatoes, and onions with a pair of scissors like a crazy person, but it worked well! Then just heated it with some wild rice in there, and a blob or two of umami paste. I cut up some of the roast and put the rest in a container for the freezer. That will be a good roast beef sandwich next week.
I have a large plastic container of probably two bowls worth. I think I will put that in the freezer too.
Tomorrow is gym day. Hopefully it won't be icy. If it is we just stay home until the temps rise. Then at 9 am hopefully we can go grocery shopping. At 2:45 I have an appt to get a body massage. I think the last time I had a massage was in 2015. So its been awhile!
I will let you know how it goes.

Lanette, our Speed Queen’s lid lock would stay engaged intermittently. YouTube fixes didn’t work but repair guy suggested putting a surge protector in between washer and wall socket. So far so good!

Margaret: Glad to know that your fall does seem to have been too serious. Good neighbours are worth there weight in gold.
Barbie: There is no excuse for such a lack of compass. I’m proud of you for turning it around into a positive. .
We have our monthly meeting this afternoon, so a fairly easy day for me.
I have Latin Study group tomorrow morning. I’ve already done my prep. Next week will be busy as I only have 2 free mornings.

Barbara - thank you, I remembered you had a similar problem. Mine doesn't completely lock, it just slightly "catches" when the machine is empty for a while, and I raise the lid. Did yours start out that way? My thought was to just remove that plastic clip but then maybe the machine wouldn't work at all.
Interesting about using a surge protector, I'll keep that in mind.

Morning, my punkins,
It is raining like stink outside, so I am staying inside. Yesterday slid all kinda sideways. Rant ahead:First the new vanity cabinet arrived without the sink--when the built in sink is why we chose that vanity.
Then I had numerous calls to various doctor's offices and enormous runarounds. Apparently it can take up to FOUR WEEKS to get records from my old ortho doctors' record archive in Illinois. WHY? It's a digital world, isn't it? It should take a few days to get a tech to work on it for less than an hour...
Then the VA sends me a message saying they'd been informed I already have those records in my possession (I do not, but I am going to), so all I have to do is take them to the new office. Then the new office tells me they've never heard of me, even though the VA says they have a confirmation that the new office HAS gotten my referral, even though they haven't gotten those records yet. 😠
Poor Corey called me at 2 p.m. to see if his phone had hooked up successfully to his new truck, and I burst into tears. Bless his heart... Between starting out with dealing with customer service with a big box store to the VA to medical offices, I was just so exhausted. All this was after I gone into town and had to stop at three different bathrooms before I got back home. Also exhausting. Gah.
The new vanity is supposed to be here between 9:30 and 1:30 today. In the middle of a rainstorm. No skin off my nose, but I hope the delivery guys charge them extra. This was easily avoided - and had I not actually looked inside the box before they left, I would have signed off on the paperwork, and we wouldn't have known until this weekend when we got it inside the room. Then we would have had a fight on our hands to actually get it replaced. The big box stores are getting worse and worse.
Mo - Absolutely love the pics, dear heart! Pip's right - you were and are a cutie.
Rebecca - Loved your haircut and loved seeing your pics too! I remember that dress - absolutely stunning. Lee looks so much healthier than he did in that photo - and he's absolutely glowing now. As far as weight goes - If you are happy at this weight, it makes sense to me that you should make decisions that are right for you. It's very obvious that food makes you happy by the posts that you make - you and Heather share that love of food.
Not lots of plans for today. Like I said, it's raining outside, and will be all day long. Already got my "good morning" call from Corey - just trying to avoid that cursed phone today at all costs. Hope it is a much better day than yesterday... Tomorrow, I have to go into the same new ortho office that says they've never heard of me, and get their form to request those same records directly. Such fun! 😐
Love y'all,
Lisa in AR

Mo, Thanks for all the pictures. You are a cutie.
Lisa, all your challenges with the VA make my adventures look simple. Yesterday when I called the credit union for the third time, the woman who answered the phone remembered me and said that both the loan officer and the branch manager had called me. No they hadn't but then she tracked one of them down and now the document is in the mail to me and I don't have to drive 40 miles to the branch. Also my new checks came from the bank in my name only. I visited the bank two weeks ago, so that's not too bad.
Dentist today and if I write a check instead of using a credit card, I'll get a 5% discount.

This was in my Facebook feed today from Christine Smith, one of the people I follow from my adventures in listening speakers who offer advice on health issues. The example to compliment this statement I shared yesterday on Facebook was a clip from Steve Hartman from CBS news, he is another favorite of mine. He did a story about a six year old orphan who would go out and look for others who were not smiling and would give them a small toy to help to make them smile. The little boy admitted he still missed his mom but his aunt told of what wonders it did for her nephew to make this his purpose!

I shared the Emperor's Garden with the third graders yesterday. I then had coffee time with my neighbors up the street. One of my neighbors adopted a Chinese son. When going to China part of Chinese culture is being harmonious is a shared cultural value. It is more important to them than following the rules. The theme of the Emperor's Garden is to find harmony with one another. A good way to start off Chinese New Year. Gong Hoi Fat Choi!

G and I managed to turn up as 'twinsies' in the same M&S dress. (She has shortened hers) I got the waitress to take a photo.
I was amazed to be able to walk around several shops for a while! Haven't been able to do that for a couple of years.
Came back on the bus. A day of glorious sunshine. And the girls had a wonderful time as well at breakfast.
