Thank you Barbie! We depend on you for our monthly fresh start and inspiration. Brava for capitalizing on recent familiarity with going into town. Stocking up before the forecast storms is just what we do . . .
Kim, WOW! I’ll let my friend T know about homeowners’ insurance, as she’s recently set up a trust.
Carla ((hugs held extra long)) That sure happened quickly ((hugs))
Lisa Audrey Hepburn and Sophia Lauren? I can see it! Reba McIntyre “25 days straight”? Inspiring!!!
Margaret bet your electrician loves the homework
you’ve done. Regularly cleaning the dryer vent is great fire protection.
Rita thank you forever for “what would you have done differently” or “what do you think should be done.” Now if only I can remember to ask them before unleashing the wrath of me.
Lanette I’d love to see Rosie and the hens talking on YouTube!
Debbie imho you are NOT “stupid for staying and putting up with it” but just doing the best you can at the moment. Proud of you for keeping up with your walking.
Rebecca please drink an extra lot of water to help flush out the toxins released by that massage.
Belated happy birthday Sue in WA!
Kylia glad to hear your Granddaughter helped and your son? in law is coming to work. That’s what keeps family businesses going.
Ginny, safe travels!
Machka that coloring looks like a photograph!
Allie that latest pic of Delia is the very very best!
Beth wire in area not anesthetized? OW! Yours to Debbie, loving and true.
Carol brava for continuing the house walking. Do you grind your teeth all the time on that med or just when sleeping? Would the primary care refer you to a psychiatrist? Recently reminded my nephew that emotional health is every bit as crucial to your well-being as physical health. ((hugs))
Fun: Can you think of anything fun that doesn’t involve moving the body?
Today’s gratitude: apple last night instead of chocolate.
Year end detail: Avg wt UP to 132.2 from Dec 130.9 but down from Jan 23 133,0. Avg steps 5993 better than Dec 5305 and Jan 23 5066. 39% AF days better than Dec’s 29%.
Thanks to all for me leading to Cas the Clutterbug. Listened to her early podcasts while tackling the OMG room. Thinking about valuable real estate, liking my house better if I gave it some love. Alas, starting clean and fresh is impossibly overwhelming. Instead I'll try to purge/organize and deep clean one room at a time. This month it's the OMG study/crafts/office/exercise equipment/music room, chaotic scene of recent disasters. Day one progress:worktableLater, lighter, lovelies!

Another great ice sculpture... They were gone within a few days because of a warm up we had. I am so glad I went when I did. This one is of an artist and you can see a 3-D ship coming out of his canvas and in the waves at the bottom you see another ship in the waves. Another favorite of mine. Well done!
Sue Happy Birthday :flowerforyou:
Beth Glad surgery went well!
Thank you to all who wished me a fast recovery from my fall. I do think I am having a fast recovery. I would say 90% better from where I was on Monday. I attribute it to taking the anti histamine(Quercetin) so I did not get fluid in my lungs and being able to use Arnica to help with pain and healing. Also being on an anti-inflammatory diet, continuing to breathe deeply to also ward off pneumonia, and being in good health I believe helps me to recover faster. Lesson learned is to watch for ice patches when needed and don't let DrewB lead me into such a spot.
I am trying to be more proactive about an icy patch on my sidewalk. I went out and bought a flexible down spout extension so that when snow melts from my roof it is directed into a garden area rather than letting the water go down my driveway and pool and freeze on the sidewalk at the bottom of the driveway. I had this problem during our last refreeze and even using kitty litter and some salt as a last resort I still had problems with ice in that spot. I will get to see how well this works in the next couple of days.5 -
margaretturkSounds like you're healing up well! Ice is scary to me, also all of my shoes are kind of smooth bottomed, so I normally just don't venture outside if its icy.

I know Lanette! I feel the same way. In fact, sometimes I'm surprised when I don't see a name that I recognize or at least the parent of someone I knew. smh. We're just all getting to that age.
It did Barbara. Very fast. We/they thought they had it under control. Then last week, he got very "wobbly" is what Jeremiah called it, after church. They took him into the hospital in Moose Lake. (nearby) and they thought they'd be able to put him on dialysis down here in the cities to then start him back on chemo long enough to keep him alive to see JMan graduate this spring. Not in God's plan, I guess.
AND... I guess we're doing the drive. two hours up and two hours back next Sunday. WHAT? Believe me, I am not a hardcore football fan, but a funeral, on a Sunday is slightly odd to begin with and then on Super Bowl Sunday? I know, I being picky! You're probably thinking that I'm bordering on snotty, but we put off my Mom's funeral so my brother and his wife could go on their pre-planned vacation to Europe. Forgive me for being crass, but as my dear, departed father always said, "it's not like they're gittin' any deader." Not to mention that we have to drive four hours in one day. But we're going. He was family. I loved him dearly. His son is a sweetheart and I adore his wife. Nikki calls herself my "stalker" because we're always calling or texting each other at the most inopportune moments. Times when no one else would call or text and being nosy with each other. And one day, she just said, "Oh just call me your favorite stalker." and I said, "but you're my only stalker, so OKAY!" I wouldn't miss supporting them for the world.
Okay, I'm done. Thanks for listening.
And Margaret! I'm living vicariously through you again, albeit I'm not including the falling part if it's okay by you! We used to do all those Winter Carnival things. Daddy was very involved in the WC and he was active in the St Paul Athletic Club and they were always the sponsors of the Vulcans and the Bouncers so we got to have some behind the scenes fun for many years. I tried out as a Bouncer one year. Didn't make it, but HOLY CATS!!! Never knew how HIGH they threw you!!! YIKES!
That's all for today.
Love and Blessings

The colouring book provides the black and white drawing with all the right shading etc. It looks good as a b&w drawing. Then it's up to me to just colour it.
However, it has given me ideas of how to adapt other colouring pages to make them look a bit more 3D ... perhaps.
It's not this one, but very much like it ... mine has slightly more rustic scenes.

Lisa I watched your video about being debt free and loved it, both the message and watching you.
Allie, you sure are getting an extra share of challenges.
Machka, great colouring. Thanks for sharing.
We had a bit of snow today and temps below freezing so I am happy about my decision to go to town yesterday so I can stay home for the next few days.
losing weight for good great results.

No or little movement fun:
- reading
- colouring
- taking photos
- watching old movies
- trying to get more than 3 sides on my Rubik's cube
- browsing https://www.realestate.com.au/ and looking at places I can't afford
- creating spreadsheets, databases, and doing things with PowerPoint outside of the usual slide presentations (recently I've done room plans and garden plans)
- playing piano (I've got one similar to yours)
- watching our gorgeous sunsets

I was lucky in first marriage. Mine left before it got that bad. He had a temper and it was getting worse. I found out 20yrs after he left me that that is why he left(he never said why, just left)- he was afraid he was going to physically hurt me and he couldn't let that happen. He was also dealing with the fear of being diagnosed bi-polar like his mom. After he left he went for help, at the urging of his second wife- got diagnosed with Autism/PTSD and a few other things but not bi-polar. He is on meds and is doing great. We talk all the time. He feels terrible how things happened and that he left. Said that was the things he regrets the most. He should have told me what was going on instead of leaving me.
I did get one bruise from when he threw a vase at me, it hit the door and bounced back and hit me- Had a huge hole in the door. Didn't break the vase. I still have it. It was a wedding gift from one of my high school teachers.

Denise just called, they put one of their dogs down. I know it’s hard. This is the first time she’s had to put a pet down. The last pet was our first cat but he was hit by a car so it wasn’t where we had to make a decision. The dog did have kidney problems,
Beth – so relieved to hear the surgery went well
Margaret – wonderful that you are healing so fast! Yes, being healthy helps an awful lot, I really believe that
Went to the play “The Hot Wing King”. Personally, I didn’t think much of it. To me, the story line was weak. Vince felt that there was too much slang in it that he didn’t understand. There was one guy who we can’t figure out if he was trans or not. Then there was this gal sitting next to me. Talk about the most obnoxious person! She was whooping and screaming at everything. Whenever I turned around, she was either drinking a beer or eating candy or popcorn. Seriously, she was so loud that at times I almost couldn’t hear the actors! And she was whooping at points in the show where I thought “what was so funny?”
Carla – please drive safely to the funeral. Yes, it does seem odd to have it on a Sunday, especially Super Bowl Sunday. Was he a big football fan? Maybe that had something to do with it.
Losing weight – impressive measurements
At least I don’t have work tomorrow.

Lanette- Thank you- actually going to mom's next weekend. We have a show to do tomorrow in Sacramento.
Mom's is an hour and 10 min drive from me(usually, unless there is traffic but even then it isn't that much more)
I will be doing extra cooking to take up for her freezer-made chicken enchiladas for us and some for her last night. We will go through the seeds she has and see what needs to be ordered. I think I will talk her into letting me order for her, so I know it will be done and seeds will be there when we are ready to plant. I will start some things at my house like I did last year. That worked well. Also need to convince her to cut back a bit more on what we plant but also remind her about the few things we didn't plant last year that I really want to plant- Popcorn and okra!!
Happy birthday Sue- hope you had a great day and it didn't freeze too much- Just rain down here. I welcome it- now I don't have to water- still have peppers and a few tomatoes still growing.
Beth- Thank you!! I really appreciate your thoughtfulness. It is sad what I put up with daily and never say a thing. Like hearing "I love you" from him but he isn't talking to me-it is to the cats. I hear it constantly but to me, twice in the past 4+years. It hurts but he doesn't even see what he is doing.
Allie- your grand daughter is so cute. I miss having the little ones here. They are a lot more fun than the 8yr old I have now. Ezie isn't bad, just not the same as a little baby.
Barbara- THANK YOU- I really am doing the best I can with the situation. Do I wish things were different, of course, but no matter how much I want certain things, they just are not meant to be.

Happy February Friends.
I cry from grief. A mash up of feelings of loss + nostalgia from sweet memories.
Barbie: Thanks for getting us started. You and Annie are adjusting and growing more every day. Proud of you.
Carla: My sympathies to you and your family.
Sue: Belated Happy Birthday.
Debbie: Ditto what others have said about you meriting more respect from DH. You are strong, and we are all here to keep reminding you of that.
Margaret: Arnica is a wonderful homeopathic remedy which I turn to for every bump and bruise. And I hear you about healthy deep breathing. I call it my super-power. My goal every year is to get through winter without falling. I had one slip last year where I didn't hit the ground but twisted something in my back. Aside from that, it's been 3 years since I had a fall on ice.....woot!
This past week was all about self-care. Just by coincidence I had a facial, a massage, a chiropractic adjustment and my usual weekly StretchLab appointment. Tried to get in for a hair trim, but that will have to wait till next week. I also had my A1C test and it is in normal range. Grateful! Exercise was consistent, and I just added face yoga to my daily routine after stumbling into the YouTube video stashed in an obscure folder.
Yesterday it was 60 degrees and I felt an urge to invite a new neighbor over for a cup of tea. We had chatted about it, but never set a date. E is in her 70s, retired hospital transport worker, lives with her grown son and their 3-legged bulldog. We sat on my south facing deck enjoying the sunshine and exchanging stories. I offered a variety of beverages because it was too warm to hold a cup of hot tea. We shared a bottle of Bordeaux and some light snacks. I rarely have guests. Never feel comfortable hosting in my home and even more so since I have completely stopped cooking. It went splendidly. She LOVES to cook and so this evening she came to my door to deliver some freshly made bean dip with chips. So sweet. I have to attempt more of this kind of socializing and try to get more neighbors introduced to each other. It stretches me and lifts spirits of others.
Well friends. I have to be jump off here and start winding down for sleep. Stay well. We can do this.

We had a wonderful time with Edie. I think it really helps that we are all engaged in doing our 'Art' around the table, so she is free to chat away without the focus being on her. Bit like 'walk and talk', or driving conversations. We covered the problem of smart phones for teenagers, trolling and bullying, the perils of being famous, winning the lottery, boy bands and their tragic aftermath and many other topics. We still got some painting done!
When she first arrived, we all went outside to sow some wildflower seeds around the tree in the street. They may, or may not, come up, but quite a few houses do make a feature of those areas. The bulbs she planted in the autumn are sprouting, but I can’t see any sign that my new hydrangea has survived. The geraniums John transplanted from the pot, have come through the winter unscathed!
When my son and Bea came to pick her up, Bea leapt into John's arms.
Today I am resolved to do my hair roots. I always put it off, but I think the time has come.

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieving permanent change.
REMINDERS One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be more than
2 lbs a day for no apparent reason. - A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.

Flowers
Song by Miley Cyrus
We were good, we were gold
Kinda dream that can't be sold
We were right 'til we weren't
Built a home and watched it burn
Mm, I didn't wanna leave you
I didn't wanna lie
Started to cry, but then remembered I
I can buy myself flowers
Write my name in the sand
Talk to myself for hours
Say things you don't understand
I can take myself dancing
And I can hold my own hand
Yeah, I can love me better than you can

My streak is still continuing. Your streak wasn't dependent on the newsfeed. It's just dependent on you simply opening MFP every day ... or leaving it open on your computer.
Today, mine is at 3500.

Good Morning Friends...
I have been on a plateau at 155 +or- 3 pounds for six months now. It seems to be a good weight for my 5 foot 7 inch frame. I scheduled my yearly exam for April because I did not want it in December and did not want it in the heart of winter.
Terri Thank you for the reminder of drinking more water when I go out to eat because yes it seems no matter what I order I gain 1-3 pounds going out. I think with the upcoming rise in food costs here because of the tariffs going out to eat will become even less on my things to do! I will suggest going out for tea/coffee and or having tea/coffee at my home.
I took this picture...This is the classroom I volunteer in. They had a local weather person come talk about weather and being a meteorologist as a profession. As part of their curriculum they do a book on a weather phenomenon of their choice. I suggested to Tanya that having someone like Lisa Meadows might motivate her students to become more involved in the process of writing their book. It becomes more real to them! I am glad she took me up on my suggestion. This is the second year of doing this. I enjoy getting to hear her in person too! This is the picture she showed on the news last night.
I am starting to gather the forms for taxes. I even bought a new printer to use with one of my lap tops to make printing easier. It works great when I can access the form from the institution that has the info I need. Yesterday I tried to get it from my HRA account. It should have taken me less than 5 minutes. An hour later dealing with someone and still not resolved I called back and at least found out what I needed to know from someone else. I went online and found out this is a common problem with this institution. In future I will keep track of how much I use from this account and come tax time I will just call and confirm the amount. Next time I have to do something like this I will set my timer for twenty minutes and if it is not resolved I will hang up and call back and hopefully get a different person who can speed the process that is what happened when I called back. I think partly what happened is I tried too many times to access my account when I first attempted to get on this account. I rarely access this account and that too might be part of the problem.
I know part of what makes this so difficult is the fraud and scamming that goes on out there. It is another hidden cost to this type of crime. Barbie I know in you situation you have run into some of this as has my friend who just lost her husband. Yes time to take another deep breath ...shake it off... and I at least can check this one off because I did get the info I needed.5 -

Morning, my dears,
Beautiful days stretching out in front of us today and tomorrow - mid-70s (25C) - that rare, sunny, February break from the cold. Back to the more usual weather by this time next week, dropping down to freezing at night, going up about ten degrees above that during the day. But loving today.
Renovation adventures:Corey's still working in the bathroom today - he framed up the new wall yesterday, and got the vanity in, and will go pick up drywall this morning when he's ready. I don't rush him. We work on different time-ticks, and if I could have, I would have already gone and got it this morning and brought it back. While he's picking up drywall, etc., I'll run down for a grocery pickup at Wally-World, and stop for apples at Aldi. I won't let the Walmart minions pick fresh veggies or apples - I've watched them throw other people's produce in bags. They don't look, they just pitch them in there. I'll pass.
I'm just not big enough or strong enough to horse drywall around any more--that stuff is HEAVY - even the "lightweight" ones weigh 45 lbs each, and while I am capable of moving around a breakable board that is 4 feet wide and 8 feet long around, the chances of an accident are just too high.
I've spent many mornings in our past standing on a ladder with a piece of drywall balanced on my head... Way more rooms remodeled than I care to count. Now I won't do either - he says I've gotten more "timid" as I've aged. 😑Perhaps he's right. Or possibly, I've just gotten smarter. I've fallen off more than one ladder in the past - seven years ago, when we were prepping this house to move into, was the last time. I don't do that anymore.
Nine years ago, when I was the age he is now, I was also able to ignore the fact that I was going to hurt the next day. Now I'm not. Interesting little conundrum. We'll see how he's doing nine years from now. Bet he's willing to pay someone else to do it by then. 😂
Rori, my dear friend - I'm sorry you're hurting, and I hope the grief has receded somewhat. It waxes and wanes, I know. This time of year makes it easy for that wave to crest and break over us, until the sunshine returns in the spring. Thinking of you.
Machka - I would have LOVED having that menu available when I was a waitress (before we were called "servers" or "waitstaff" 😂😉). When that little crumbsnatcher said "I'm Not Hungry!" I could just say, "Got it" and add chicken strips to the order. Spent more than a few minutes waiting for a four-year-old to decide from a menu he couldn't read. And yeah, I've ordered from the kid's menu at more than one restaurant for myself. And I love macaroni and cheese.
Barbie - Thank you so much for that compliment! I am moving forward with it, after wibbly-wobbling myself long enough. I'll do it my way, as I'm just not good at working to a market or to demand. And I don't have to. It's amazing how it's changing the way I look at myself. In a good way, I think.
Anyway... I've gone back and forth between this post and my Walmart order, and made six different changes. 😂Doodled so long that I've run out of time to make any further changes! Time to get moving. Exercise first, then the shower, then something else for a few hours before I head into the small town near me to the big Walmart.
Later y'all,
Love,
Lisa in AR
I forgot - Happy Groundhog Day!
