Happy Birthday Kylia!

Need to go to town today. Picking up my nebulizer, dog meds, 3 B-Day cards and 1 gift card, a few things from Walmart. Other than that, not much happening here.
Thought for the day: For cat lovers?!

Happy Monday.....
So Saturday took an interesting turn.....On Friday, Sister-in-law mentioned workers coming to her house Tuesday afternoon. I reminded her that I am leaving at 330. She snottily said she knew. So I didn't also remind her that I would be in Columbus on Wednesday for training (she is usually off). After all it is on the calendar and I have reminded her a couple of times. Well, on Saturday, she kept talking about having the baby on Wednesday. I asked if she was bringing her to the shop? She got pissy when I asked that. I reminded her that I wouldn't be there. She said, no your training is on Thursday. Anyways....she expected me to change the date like I had choices. This is the only class close by. Yes, I could do it on line, but those were both Wednesdays too. Can't do at work as too many interruptions. It is her ex husband's son's girlfriend's little girl. Just grrr....sil did get care taken care of so is now off on Thursday. ....
Really didn't want to go to dinner after all of that....but I managed to pull up my big girl panties, dress up, and had a wonderful time at dinner in spite of awful service. I did get my 15 min house walk done in the morning. Helped DH with project in evening.
Yesterday, I started with 30 min house walk. I then let kittens outside and got in hot tub. Kittens got curious....Cali stood on the step with her front legs in the water to her shoulders before running off. Tory kept tempting fate reaching in from the edge. Well......Tory swims really well! Lol! She didn't panic when she fell in, just swam to otherside and jumped out. I think she was a little shocked! After that I got ready to run a couple of errands. I tried on two pairs of jeans......the third pair with old, but comfy shirt and a hug from DH and I quit crying. Seriously! I am doing what I need to do. I know I am doing something better for my health. I know this isn't fast or easy. My calendar says to love myself as I love others......
After that drama, I braved Costco with lots of patience and plenty of smiles. I avoid it on weekends, but needed before Thursday. After that went to Sephora/Kohls. Needed new cleanser/moisturizer, primer, foundation, and mascara. The new cleanser/moisturizer as I thought I had a reaction to my old stuffs. The specialist recommended I see a dermatologist as she is pretty sure it is rosecea. She too suffers from it. My cheeks look like I have blush on or am sunburned. At least they don't hurt today. After all that fun went to grocery! Man....nothing like piling things in one day! Was cloudy and chilly, but not hateful. After putting foods away, helped DH with a couple projects. Then he wanted pizza and we needed to pick up his prescription. So we took the Bronco out, picked up prescription, had a beer while waiting for pizza, brought pizza home for dinner. Then back to DH projects. Finally got meats separated and vacuum sealed and fruits portioned out around 10 pm. Long day! But I listened and subscribed to Lisa's videos while walking, I got errands out of the way, and got 10k steps!
Lisa "Want Less" spoke to me. After years of struggling to make ends meet, always wanting, and diligently tracking, I still came into this relationship with debt. It took me 20 years to finally get out of that mess. Had wanted to be debt free when we got married, got close, but then bought a new car. Ot is funny how now that I CAN afford to go shopping, I hate going shopping! It is nice to be able to afford the things I do want though!
Thank you for the birthday wishes. For today, it is work, DH doctor appt, and ending evening with massage. DYD asked if any special plans. I told her no, just a grateful day. I have an already busy week after a busy week. Tomorrow night is theater in Cincinnati. Wednesday is training in Columbus. Thursday is dentist, work, and hair colorist. Sunday evening is theater here in Dayton. Then I think I have a calm week.
Healing thoughts!
Hugs held extra long!
Grateful to feel all of your support as I continue my journey to end a bad habit and continue to work on good habits.
Love

So what a morning!
-I saw I had a stain on my exercise shirt right before we were to leave. Quick change needed.
-couldn't use any lockers as the ones for daily use were either broken (they're open but can't be locked with a 4 digit locking mechanism). One uniformed gal had spread out her stuff to a whole corner situation. Other open lockers had stuff in them. So I had my coat, water, tablet with me all the time.
-couldn't listen to my latest book because internet wasn't working.
-husband got pulled over by police for going around cars waiting to turn into school. He only went around because the car coming at him was turning too. Anywhoo, he just got a (nice) warning to be patient and wait. Last time he got pulled over was probably 2 years ago when he was driving 35 in a 30 zone on base.🙄😳
On the GOOD side its snowing. Its not really sticking though.
Today is comfort breakfast food me thinks.

Carla wearing jerseys at least part of the time might help shift the grieving to celebration of life, at least for a moment ((hugs))
Allie so sorry to hear about the IRS. Does the letter say why? I got a bill from them years ago because my financial institution made a mistake on a transfer, didn’t check the rollover box, and the IRS thought I’d withdrawn instead. Took a little time to straighten out but didn’t cost me any $$$.
Con VERY gratulations @Losingweightforgood2019, especially on the waist measurement. Would you re mind me what you’d like to be called and your general locale?
Machka the desk was Mama’s and I love it too. You’re right those are all enjoyable activities, guess I was just thinking of fun as needing some body movement even if just laughter, like in a brisk board game. Browsing real estate, now that’s one I hadn’t thought of! We line dance to ‘Flowers’ frequently What is it that makes mac’n’cheese “Scottish style”?
Michele ((hugs)) for Denise, hardest responsibility about loving pets, not to let them suffer. ((hugs))
Rori you have completely stopped cooking?
Heather, Edie, (Max and Bea too) are so fortunate you and Johnny moved to be near them. I confess I’m jealous, my last grandparent (actually great grandma) passed shortly after we visited when I was 1 year old. On the other hand, Mama and Papa were almost old enough to be my grands… “instead of just lying there and thinking about my last chapter managed 350 words.” Bravissima!
Terri what have you linked your 10 minutes of HIIT to? I need some inspiration ;}
Lisa hope Corey decides to pay someone else before he gets hurt! What you said about grocery employees is why I will not use pickup, far prefer to select my produce and check Best By dates myself.
Tracey :loved: the trucks stuck in the mud video. BTW just watched “On the Basis of Sex” (DVD from library) thanks so much for the recommendation. Startling to realize how much of that history I lived through …
Debbie like Tracey’s co-worker said, “No. You are not stupid, you are Debbie.”
Lanette love the Strut Sauce. May queue up on YouTube on my iPhone (in my pocket) next time I need motivating for house walking.
Rebecca you are so right about going through stuff being emotionally messy. Brava for being there for your sister!
Beth I just hate the planned obsolescence of “version no longer supported…”
Margaret, Lisa, Lanette and Barbie, fear of falling is one of the changes I most hate about ageing, ice is why we moved from Boise to Brookings, and this is why I make myself go to Better Bones and Balance class Time to get up off my duff and go!

Happy birthday Kylia!
Allie- hope you get extra sleep tonight
Show went well yesterday- dh was very skeptical, as always, saying he didn't think we would make even $200 and that none of his Godzilla stuff would sell- He was wrong!! Sales were not great but just over double what we had hoped to get and he sold quite a few of his Godzilla things. Sure wish we would sell the one big one- it is heavy and hard to pack. It has lights and sounds(the sound is very annoying when he tests it over and over around midnight when he was making it- I remember yelling to him from the bedroom "Yes, the sound chip works!!"
We met up with friends of his after for dinner at the Chinese place. Food was ok, the guys(4 of them plus me) had a great time visiting. One is a friend from high school, the other is one we met through that friend who now goes on any trip we take-he is like dh's BFF.
Got back to take care of the dog at 9PM so no walk for him- just let him out in the back yard. I will walk him today if it isn't raining too hard. At least around the block.
Cats were starving by the time they ate at 9:30 or so. They had dry food but were waiting for their real dinner.
Heading up to the VA after we take care of the dog(after dh gets out of the shower) to hopefully get some paperwork started to get MIL some help paying for her care home. VA is the only possible help for her, she doesn't qualify for anything else, at least that is what dh says. Any help he can get will help pay for her care for longer.
Zumba starts back tonight. Will be nice to see everyone. Hope I remember the routines. At least I will be moving, even if they are the wrong steps
Still raining off and on and will for the next few days I think- I am ok with it- don't need to water my garden now.

Just checking in I am not sure where time is going.
Carla--Sory for your loss. Sending prayers.
Enjoyed seeing all the pictures. I have been overweight my whole life. At my highest I was 402 pounds. Last 10 years have been 260-270. I would like to lose 100 more and slowly working on it again. DH and I weigh each Tuesday morning and I track it.
I am one that also angry cry. Seems the only time I do.
I am just at the start of this month reading, so will work on catching up.

Drove up to Fairfield to go to the VA- just to find that they don't have walk in appointments on Mondays.
Walk ins are T,W,TH. The next available appointment is 4/27.
We drove up because he said they are not good at actually answering the phones to set up appointments.
He said he might try to do walk in one day but a coworker said walk ins are crazy. I hope he at least tries. The soon the paperwork is started, the sooner he can get a little assistance for his mom's care.5 -

You listen to your heart, head and body. Being that my sister is living in her husband's childhood home, its seeped in his families history and him. No escaping. I always tell her that home will keep her active, but might also be the death of her. I am constantly telling her that I refuse to put on her tombstone, "she weeded well"!! She forgets to eat, forgets to stay hydrated, goes out to her back acreage to turn of the sprinklers at night, all these things drive me crazy but she is a go getter. Her kids have installed a ring camera in the front, and she has a watch deal that if she falls the watch detects it and asks her if she's ok and will call 911 if she doesn't answer. That's at least something.

Losingweightforgood2019 aka Sharon,
Nice to meet you! This is a great group of inspiring ladies that are in this journey with you. Some are in maintenance, some are in different stages of this weight loss journey called life. Many of us chat of things not related to weight, but honestly everything is relative to weight isn't it?😁 Our mood, our lifestyle, our mindset, our weight is a mirror reflection.
I am on Whidbey Island in Washington state.

Hello, my tribe! Like Kylia, I identify you all as my tribe. I trust all of you more than some of my family.
I wanted to clarify something. Tracey, I could be wrong about your DH. It just appears that he is depressed. It may be something else. I do have to say that women are the strongest and are the nuts and bolts of a good home. I have seen some exceptions. Namely, my mother, who left us when I was nine, to figure life out without her constant guidance. Today, DH called me and asked me if I could send money to Julia for her possible yeast infection and COVID issue. Now Julia has lied so much about needing money for medical reasons that it is hard to believe her. Also, it has been an unspoken rule that after Julia broke her contract with me, DH would handle her needs. I had to purchase a new Apple computer for DS. Then, I was billed $174.00 for DS's storage fees when he left for the holidays. I bought airline tickets and did Christmas for both DS and DD. DH made more money than I did last year, yet he didn't buy any gifts and was disappointed that I didn't get his mother anything. So, I said no. Julia needs to get her life together. He can continue to enable her, but I will not be a part of it. I told her that if she didn't go to college or do anything toward her future, she would be on her own, and I meant it.
Before I ask for your advice, I want to thank Barbie.
Barbie, thank you for bringing us this month. I was amid my work stretch and forgot it was a new month. I was catching up in January for a while and saw the link. I am bookmarked and ready to go.
Happy Birthday, Sue! I hope you enjoyed every crumb of your pie.
Machka, I love your posts; they are so insightful and genuine.
Debbie, you must take it up and spell out what he needs to share in the workload with DH. Since DS is moving to your MIL's house, will he also take over the dog duties? I have to put DH in his place, too, but he never admits he was wrong. He acknowledges that he has trouble with that because he feels right. I get so frustrated sometimes. Reading your post, I was frustrated that your DH didn't care for the dog.
Michelle, I wish I was in Florida again; sometimes, one week is not enough. We have so many NATs lately that it isn't funny (NAT- Non-accidental trauma). The worst one happened a few years back when a 6-week-old had a black eye, bruised ribs, and fractured skull. The mom said she heard a meow on the monitor, so the cat must have beaten her baby. I told my co-workers that if cats were going around beating up on people like that, I would stay inside. Shame on them for blaming the cat. The police didn't buy it, and they were arrested and the baby had an alias name so she could be safe. I hate when the system fails and continues to put the children in danger by sending them home. Then you find out later they died from continuous malnutrition, being abused to death, or being left in a car. It is terrible.
Did you hear about the NICU nurse who was breaking the baby's bones? I truly hope her hell begins in jail. Nancy Grace was ticked off about the abuse on her show. I heard about it at work.
Allie, Wow, you are doing fantastic! Delia seems to love spending time with Grandma.
Lisa, Congrats on your exercise streak.
Heidi, I am sorry. I thought Margaret posted the I sculpture pictures. I thought they were terrific.
Rebecca, you saw some exciting places. I am glad they are giving your son a break to help with his Crohn's.
Barbara, Baby Suko is my bestie. I gave her that nickname in grade school. Her real name is Linette, but she is the family's baby, and her middle name is Itsuko( she is Japanese Hawaiian). Everyone in my family, including my dad, called her Baby Suko. So it stuck, but DH calls her Linette.
I have grabbed so much that I will ask for advice tomorrow. My head is hurting, so I need to make some tea. You all have a fantastic night. I missed you all this weekend. Take care.
Tight hugs to you all.
Sincerely,
Mo in Mississippi

Flea - I wish everyone would just calm down and be kind. I feel like we are moving backwards in time it makes me sad. It’s such an angry time and it’s getting worse instead of better.
Machka - what is the Australian way of making grilled cheese compared to Canada’s?
We have hamburgers and pasta almost weekly as well. Ours aren’t as healthy as yours.
Beth - sorry your Mom had a fall. It’s a common problem, the residents doing things they aren’t supposed to.
Kylia - Happy birthday!
Today is my eldest daughter’s 36th.
Barbara - I was surprised to learn how much history talked about “On the Basis of Sex” I was alive for as well.
My crafting day:We usually don’t have children for craft day, but Lauryn’s husband’s schedule has changed and so the Grands had to join us. Since they were going to be here we agreed that Michaela could craft with us and Chase could come and he and Jonah could hang out. The only one not invited was Aspen. As it turned out she had to come too as her Grandmother that was going to keep her caught the crud.
A change this time was also that Lauryn’s BFF, joined us.
She actually arrived before anyone else and brought coffee for Rodger and I. We were sitting at the table drinking our coffee and I asked her how she was doing. She immediately broke down crying. She is on a medical leave from work due to stress caused by her personal life. It’s a lot to carry.
I’m glad I was able to be there to listen for her.
I worked on another flip album, Kaitlyn worked on her Junk Journal. Lauryn and Brittney both made shirts.
Raquel made coffee mugs for her in laws. Funny story about these. Aspen calls her paternal grandfather Papa Dirtbag. Of course, I asked how this came to be and she told me that it was Kaitlyn’s fault. 😂
When Aspen was about 18 months old Kaitlyn had gone to help Raquel and was staying for a couple days. Kaitlyn had stood up and said she was going to take a shower because she felt like a dirt bag. Aspen started repeating it, saying Auntie Dirtbag? Mommy Dirtbag, etc. she went to see her Grandpa while this was still new, he thought it was hilarious and the name has stuck. So the mug she made is silhouette of a man playing catch with a young boy and another of holding a little girl up in the air. In the middle it says Papa Dirtbag.
It was a great day and the taco bar was the best idea ever. If I do it again I need to make more meat.
It is bitterly cold here. Supposed to have a couple more days of it.

Scottish macaroni and cheese ...
In Canada & Australia, the macaroni and cheese I have had usually comes out of a box. Kraft mac & cheese or similar which I will often have with soya sauce. My husband and I often add steamed veggies too. My mother had a version where she mixed elbow macaroni with tomato sauce and topped with sliced cheese which she grilled brown.
Those are OK ... better than many meal options.
However ... I would go back to Scotland just for the macaroni and cheese!!
Here's the recipe from one Scottish restaurant:
https://foodanddrink.scotsman.com/recipes/recipe-sloans-legendary-macaroni-cheese/
It's served like this:
Or like this:
Here's another recipe:
https://glasgowdiet.com/2020/10/30/ultimate-macaroni-cheese/
I'm not into the bacon, but this is another similar sort of recipe:
https://www.documentingmydinner.com/2017/07/30/ultimate-mac-cheese/
Canadian Grilled Cheese ... compared with Australian Grilled Cheese ...
For Australian Grilled Cheese, you make a cheese sandwich, then open the griller, put in the sandwich, let it grill on one side, flip and let it grill on the other side. Basically a toasted cheese sandwich. For me ... it isn't quite right.
For Canadian Grilled Cheese, you get a frying pan out and heated up, while it's heating, you butter two slices of bread very well, and slice some cheese. Then put one piece of bread in the frying pan, butter side down and quickly lay on the slices of cheese. You could add mustard or a meat spread or tomato slices. Then pop the other piece of bread on top, butter side up. Let it sizzle ... then flip, and sizzle.
