    Bump!

Is it just me……or is this new youthful trend of taking old songs and doing them super slow, dreamy, indie style supremely irritating?

Several of our yoga instructors have moody versions of “Ring of Fire” and “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” on repeat. I want to claw my ears out.

There’s others that play occasionally, but those two…..ecccch!

    Just….nooooooooo! Ya’ll stop it!

I wouldn't say it's a new thing. Think about Dread Zeppelin. They got their start in the '80s.

I shouldn't even mention Stairway to Freebird.

Totally agree with the crabby 60s comment...also add any remakes of classic rock songs to be more hip-hop!

There's always Hayseed Dixie for interesting interpretations of classic rock songs. Usually high energy - definitely not dreamy or moody.

My dad used to alter songs ….

“Pardon me boys, is that the cat that chewed your new shoes” was a particular favorite of the grandkids.

I dare you to erase that from your brain now.

But, to his credit, he didn’t slow them down and turn them into dirges.

Week 3 BodySlims, down 2.3 - 7.7 total so far this round. Happy with that 😊

NOT however happy with my LNS last night...wiped out any deficit, that's for sure. Hungry evening. Not particularly bad food choices per se, just too many portions. 😳

    Today, I go again! 👍
It is not what we do spectacularly, but what we do consistently that will win in the long run.

Bunco last night. Goddamnit why does there have to be bowls of chocolates on every *kitten* table????!!!!!!

That’s why I don’t keep hardly any in the house. I can’t stop.

And knowing it was bunco, I cut loose earlier in the day when I meant to bank calories after breakfast.

Yep. Prelogged today and tomorrow and working on Saturday right now. Back to better eating. 😇

    Hi, y'all!

Maybe there was something in the air or the stars yesterday: I had 3 delicious pieces of leftover Detroit-style pizza for lunch, but somehow later felt the need for chhhhoooocccooooolllate, so went over my usual calorie goal. :D Meh, NBD. Back to the routine!

No other real news from my part of the world, just checking in to say hi and ask how everyone else is doing. Now I've gotta go shovels some snow . . . speaking of calorie-burning activity. :D Not sure how much because it blew around some, but it looks like 3-5 inches or so that arrived yesterday afternoon through the overnight.

    Hope everyone's well!

Our daughter and her partner just bought a new home. Me being me? I’ve “walked” the area via Apple Maps. No yoga studios (small town, looks like they all closed because of the pandemic) but she’s right across the street from the town SV, a sort of sporting club that is also the home for the town’s football (soccer) team. They have a pool, adult gymnastics (!!!), hiking groups, badminton, even a chess club. All kinds of stuff, for kids to seniors.

Sadly, no yoga, but they do have cardio classes.

But most interesting, they have a cardiac rehab area, like my own gym. Both are “by prescription”.

This facility is way cool, and it’s dirt cheap.

I might gift them a family membership for a year, just so I can take advantage lol.

Yeah. They're an acquired taste, but they definitely think and play "outside the box".

Greetings, all. Good to see you seasoned citizens sticking to it.

I'm hanging in there. I haven't been successful at getting the weight loss started again, but I'm not giving up. Spring is coming and soon I'll be motivated to get outside and move more often.

I'm turning 60 this year and hoping to lose 60# too! I could use a team effort! (Lots of menopausal weight and working from my home office since 2020 didn't help either!)

This week we are close to a very good bakery with my all-time favorite, Quarkini. Think doughnut holes made with a thick sour cream batter. Unfortunately, they are high calorie deliciousness.

My NSV this week is not indulging in “I’ll never have the chance again!” mentality for all the baked goods, and limiting myself to one pouch for breakfast.

In the past, I’ve gotten two pouches plus a large pastry. I’m determined not to gain this time. Yay! I’m finally learning! And one pouch is quite enough if I focus on the enjoyment of each bite.

My Beloved is too embarrassed to order more than me, so he’s doing likewise, sticking to one pastry, while giving me the (dramatically) injured side eye.

So far, I’ve been well below calories except yesterday when the kids brought us laugenecke (pretzel corner rolls, another passionate favorite), and packets of ham and cheese. We have no fridge so felt obligated to finish them off.

My diary shows hours and hours of “flexibility” workouts while we scrape wood chip wallpaper (a pox upon whoever invented this stuff), constantly clean construction dust, and paint the wood chip paper that’s not coming down (did I mention a pox? Double that! It’s harder to paint than it is to get down!)

So yeah, lots of flexibility required, and I’m sure we’re under calories regardless of what either of us has eaten.

Plus there’s no heat in the house and people going in and out constantly, and it’s been in the teens/twenties. BL and I are camping out in the house at night, making simple dinners on a borrowed hot plate, and sharing it right out of the pan, because the kids can’t find their plates to bring us a couple, and paper plates are a no go here. None of the groceries carry them.

I’m probably shivering off weight, too, standing barefoot in pools of water scraping cold concrete walls. I swear, I’ve got wood chips in every possible orofice. Disgusting, revolting stuff. It’s like grass seed stuck to walls with glue.

BTW, bought a 2kilo sack of local apples for lite, portable snacks. OMG! A revelation!!!!!!!! I’ve never experienced apples like this! As good as any quarkini!

Anyways, fun times, great nomnoms, and the end result should be worth it. What you do for your kids, right?!

My goodness, why are you barefoot?? I don't think my feet would ever warm up, and I wouldn't be able to sleep at all...

    That wall covering sounds diabolical!

Is there a thrift store you could get a couple plates, kettle even, from for a couple bucks maybe?

Where the heck are you anyway with this strange wallpaper and oddly named food 🤔

Yall…….popcorn tea!!!!!!! And it really tastes like freshly popped corn!

I’m bringing some home for sure!

@BCLadybug888, we are about two hours east of Amsterdam. The kids bought a house and we are helping get it ready for them to move in.

We can’t wear shoes and utterly pointless to wear socks in the gummy wet mess. But that part is mostly over. We’re trying to touch up all the pinpoint holes on the wood chip in the bedrooms we painted by shining our phone flashlights on the walls to find spots on the crazy rough surface the roller skipped over. Diabolical stuff, wet or dry!

Have you had genmaicha? It's green tea with roasted/puffed/popped rice. I think it's delicious. I found out about it by asking one of the Thai restaurants what kind of tea they served because I liked it. They pointed to a box. I used to be able to find it loose in bulk, but not lately.

It is sometimes called "dieters tea" because the tea can make you feel a little full. I think historically it was used to stave off hunger when food was scarce.

Popcorn tea sounds similar, but maybe made with corn instead of brown rice.

Ooooh I have to look for that! There’s a giant tea shop in the town we are going to tomorrow. Adding it to my shopping list!

You guys had me googling and checking with Amazon!
    Per Google:
"popcorn tea is the same as genmaicha, a Japanese green tea blended with roasted brown rice. The name comes from the sound the rice makes when it pops during roasting."

    So now we know!
