Heidi - Do you know why your pancreas is acting up? Sounds horrible.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxxx [/quote]
No, Sadly. We do not know yet. They are speculating at this point. They believe that it could be my gallbladder causing trouble or the esophageal spasms themselves, as they can strain the pancreas as well. I am going to be seeing a specialist soon that may shed some light. In the meantime, water, very little alcohol and plenty of healing foods.

My produce box ... there were two errors in the contents. I had been given a choice of celery or 1 cuke and 2 roma tomatoes. I chose celery but got 2 roma tomatoes (and no cuke). I also had the choice of 2 qts of apples or 2 grapefruit. I chose grapefruit but got the apples. No big deal on either. I'll contact the farmer tomorrow and see what happened. Here's what I got: 1/4 lb basil, cherry tomatoes, large red pepper, garlic, broccoli, romaine, romas, 3 kiwi, apples, 2 lbs grapes, 1 mango and 6 bananas While the grapes don't look too great .. they are firm and very sweet. I'm happy with everything and priced out the items with a local grocer ... not bad at all!
Beth
This post and that photo made me hungry and ready to break out my juicer. What a fantastic box. And IMHO, those grapes look amazing. YUMMMM-O5 -
Heather- my daughters house was built in the 1940s and you have to take your shoes off in the house, usually im in just socks and I keep my jacket over my feet. Will have to get my ll bean slippers out and wear them..I guess.
With losing the weight and my place I keep it cool because I have electric heat and our electric bills are astronomical..so I bundle up under my robe and blankets.8 -
Today I bought a large container of strawberries!๐. I am going to mix a couple of them cut up, with sugar and lemon juice and a splash of ACV and let them sit to "maserate". Then toasting a bagel with strawberry cream cheese and the strained strawberries on top. Its a dessert like no other! A cross between a strawberry cream cheese pie, and strawberry shortcake.๐๐
I bought a really firm head of lettuce. Hopefully it will last longer. I do put a wet paper towel on the cut brown core part, each time I use some. No tomatoes available, and the cucumbers seemed a bit water laiden, so I did not buy either. I really love the packages of clover sprouts but I end up throwing half of the container away. I mean you can only jam so much of that in a sandwich or bagel! There is something awful about eating sprouts about to turn so I am pretty particular about the " use by" dates listed.
I looked at two places for "Seabreeze" facial cleanser but I guess its not sold anymore? Need to look online. I am getting bumps occasionally around my ears where my eyeglasses rub. Plus with my hair. I think I will have my hair trimmed close around my ears so my skin can breathe. Also need to look at maybe new frames. These are 10+ years old!

I usually dont cut my lettuce cores out to avoid rusting. I simply what the core on the counter and pull it out easily. Maybe that will help yours last longer. The paper towel is also a solid idea. I love sprouts. Broccoli sprouts are my favorite. I agree the can spoil before I use them all, which is why I will juice them if I need to avoid that. With tomatoes and garlic, super tasty juice.
Try micellar water. It is similar to what Seabreeze is. Walmart, Walgreens and Amazon still sell it. You could always just get it there. I hope that helps.
I have GOT to try that strawberry dessert you mentioned. It sounds really good. Thank you for sharing.

Heidi in NC,
I did go online to Wal-Mart's site and Seabreeze is listed. I will look this weekend. I am going to use a Mason jar for holding the cotton balls. I try to live a mimalistic lifestyle and so with new things and routines coming in, I usually get rid of something. That's my rule anyways. I am going to decorate the lid with something.๐
I don't have a juicer but I have heard good things about them. When I am in a "juice mood" I just buy the brand "Naked Juice" and the sides of the bottle tell me how many items cars crammed in them. I am so lazy that way.๐๐ They do a good job and the Green Machine, and mighty mango flavors are outstanding!

Hey, kiddos,
Done with floors (especially when you remember that "done"is better than "perfect." ๐)
Got through my shower after some lunch, and then had to lay down for a bit. Stomach cramps just laid me down for an hour or so. Finally faded, for which I am very grateful. Still not sure what that was about. There are so many more good days than bad now that the minor glitches catch me by surprise!
I'm only a couple weeks from my next Skyrizi injection, and the time span where I don't feel well in between each one gets shorter, or maybe that's wishful ๐ค thinking. I dunno.
Later, my darlin's,

Mo - I am so glad you are here with us! You are such a great medical resource, and I know I've learned a lot from you.
Lynn - you and your DH have done an amazing job keeping Libby going for 14 years. Prayers for wisdom and give Libby hugs and kisses from us.And it's neat your hubby is also on the eating/workout plan. I think it does make it easier. You're doing great.
Busy morning, shopping done and lunch with M. We talked about A1C - she's been an insulin dependent T2 diabetic for a couple decades now, her father died due to complications from T2 and all of her uncles also had it.
Allie - we are having a warm spell, hopefully you'll get it in a week in your area to save on the heating bill. Delia gets cuter every time you post her photo and I can't believe how much Miles is shooting up.

A few weeks ago I listened to an audio book of a cozy mystery that was the story of a stolen first edition of Patricia Highsmith's "Strangers on a Train". I know the story vaguely from the Alfred Hitchcock movie but had never read the book. Yesterday I started listening to the audio version of the book and it's great. It's a nuanced story with interesting characters. Super fun.
Lynn, thinking of you and Libby. I know how you feel and am sending hugs,

Ha! Juicers are great. I have a Breville. They serve a purpose. But I use my ninja blender more than my juicer these days. It uses more of item Iโm juicing and there is little to no waste.
I used to enjoy those Naked drinks. They do cram a lot in there. But they are hard to factor in to my plan these days with the amount of sugar they have. So itโs been a while since I
had one. I like to freeze them into juice pops in the summer.
Love, love, love mason jars! For everything! I bake bread in them at Christmas to give as gifts. Iโll have to share the recipe with you.
I hope you find your Seabreeze.

Did an incline interval workout today. The plan for tomorrow is to do a Hot Body DVD
After exercise went to Aldi for a few things. I wind up going to the store often when Iโm here to try to have as little to take home when I need to leave. Anyway, after Aldi, brought the groceries in, had breakfast, then went to a Board meeting for the condo. Afterwards, went to a thrift store here. I thought it was a bit on the expensive side for a thrift store. But itโs better than store prices, thatโs for sure! Anyway, while I was there the guy who I think weโll go with for the remodel called (well, it was his wife) saying that heโll get off early today and can come by to put in the toilet so I made sure I got home Update: got home and Vince was here so I just got dinner ready
Speaking of apples: at Aldi there was something called Snapdragon Apples. Iโd never heard of them. So I bought them to try them. Not bad at all (but then again...Iโm a fruit lover)
Beth โ where does the time go? I thought itโd only been 2 years since you lost your son. 4 years!!! Iโm still sorry that you did
After the Board meeting, Vince went to register the cats with a vet down here. On the way home he stopped at DD. I did have one of the vanilla iced donuts and almost died when I saw the calories. But I think I can regain myself
Tracey โ we most likely wonโt be here when all the work is being done. But...the guy is putting in the new toilet right now. Looks like we need a new hot water heater. We just found that itโs rusting (new this year). If itโs not one thing, itโs another. Hopefully, he can put it in before we leave. As far as the bathroom reno, well, that will just have to be done when weโre gone. Surprisingly, Vince accepts this. So glad youโll go to your graduation. Will they be streaming it? I remember seeing Mโs graduation and I know they streamed Jessโ. If they do, be sure to give us the link
deb โ we make a cold sandwich at the soup kitchen if needed just so the people have something to eat. Then again, if we have something extra (like extra pieces of pizza) sometimes we put it in a box and just give it to people
Mo โ arenโt avocados high in potassium? Vince...exercise...heโs the person who is waiting for Vitamin E to be developedโฆ.lol Iโm really not coordinated enough to get a workout from a zumba/dance DVD so I really donโt do them.
Lynn โ congrats on the weight loss! Iโm so sorry about Lynn. I know what youโre going thru. One of our cats, Lexi, had dementia. She would walk around the house with the โdeer in the headlightsโ look, she lost control of her bowels, sheโd forget where the litter box was, finally one day she was walking from the kitchen into the bedroom peeing, she didnโt even realize she was doing it. Thatโs when we knew that the dementia was getting worse.
Heidi โ Jess texted us a pic of the snow by her. She can keep it as far as Iโm concerned
Lynn โ I just found the EggLife wraps down here (never saw them before), looked interesting, so I got some. Canโt wait to try them. Never heard of carbo nada pasta. Where do you get it? Iโm getting to where I actually prefer shiataki noodles to regular pasta. When we had to have Clyde put down, how I cried!

Debbie ... Does your husband have both health and financial POA for his mom? Those documents should have gone over with her file when she went to the hospital. Even with documentation and forms and paperwork up the yazoo... getting and giving information in this kind of situation is unnecessarily difficult. I hope they find answers quickly to get her back to her "normal."
Beth near Buffalo
Yes, he has both POA. He is on all of her accounts and pays all her bills (he has for over 12 yrs. because she doesn't read or write English well enough. Her other son did the bills after her husband passed away, until he died).
As of this afternoon, they will be releasing her back to her care home tomorrow.
They feel the infection is from not being changed often enough. They have been using one of the catchment systems(can't remember the name) at the hospital that pulls it away from her body or something. They are looking to see if they can get one for the care home.
Last night dh said she wasn't on hospice but close, today he said he knows she will never be able to be home again. Mentally and physically she is declining so fast since that 3 weeks in the rehab place. The nurse said they caught her today, with her hands in her diaper, playing with her poop. YUCK-
Even with the decline in her mentally, she is still being very mean to him. The good part of her not being at her home is he doesn't have to sit and take it, he can just tell her he is leaving, and walk out.
After walking the dog twice, walked the wetlands for an hour, I am at just about 18,000 steps.
Tomorrow should be the same or more. Will be walking the same three times plus hopefully meeting a friend tomorrow night to walk in the park.
There were so many people walking the wetlands today. It was so sunny and warm. 69!!! Rained all day yesterday then so warm and sunny today. I LOVED the walk. Super low tide so lots of little water birds like sand piper, stilts, egrets, teals....

Lisa - funny story about carpet powder.
When Lauryn was around 2.5 I had set her up with a movie and used that on the carpet.
The next morning I woke up to the worst smell. She had crawled in bed with me and asked her if she was sick, she told me she, in the fridge.
I basically ran out of the bedroom, filled with dread. I opened the fridge and saw nothing. Turned around and noticed something all over my carpet. She had used a large can of Parmesan cheese to clean it. What a smell! I ruined my vacuum getting it cleaned up and had to call in a professional carpet cleaner.
I skimmed through. When I got home from ceramics I turned the tv on and ended up catching the winning goal in the Canada/US hockey game and ended up watching it. Iโm glad I looked before changing the station because Rodger wasnโt recording it, I think I got it for him. He would be sorry to miss it.
Rita - I saw this and thought of you.
Oh I had one of those then and now suggestions on FB today.

I just visited my mom and finally took down her tree. I took DS's small white tree with lights and hung shamrocks and gold coin ornaments. I also took her Christmas quilt and put the teal-blue one on her bed. My mom was looking at her copy of my wedding album and asked me who my dad was. She thought DH was my brother. Then, she wanted me to read her correspondence. I couldn't find the nurse to give her a nebulizer machine, so I left it with a note at the nurse's station. I asked my mom if she needed to go potty, and she declined. So I reminded her where her bathroom was. I didn't get to work much this week. I guess if you first fail, then there is always next week. I just needed to rest this week. I will work out in the morning. I did work out on Wednesday. I loved it. I will try Friday and Saturday. I did do stairs at work. I did go to the grocery store twice. I did some laundry and emptied the dishwasher. I laid out scrubs for my work week.
Debbie, your MIL has had a significant change if she is playing with her poo. Did they use a Perwick for her incontinence? Those are awesome. Your DH is correct; she will no longer be able to live
independently.
Michelle, Avocados are very high in potassium. Regarding Zumba, my friends and I took a class and laughing severely hurt my stomach. It was fun, though.
Barbie, it's good for you to enjoy a good audiobook. I love them when I am driving, doing laundry, or knitting.

Tracey My thought is you should walk! Congratulations! My sister just got her Masters degree at 58 yo. Her first time walking too! She was working at HS graduation. She graduated college early and didn't want to drive back up to walk 6 months later. Go for it!
Debbie That has to be frustrating for DH. Prayers and hugs!
Barbie What a wonderful comparison. You are on the path of healing. I think you are doing wonderfully.
Lynn Saying goodbye to our pets is hard. You will know. I have had two put down in 30 yrs. 3 died after getting hit by cars (one in my driveway by MIL. MIL never knew). I was greatly saddened, but glad to help them cross. After 27 yrs of dogs though, there had been no pets for 3 years. Now our kittens are almost 1 yo. Prayers and hugs!
Cindy Cool on growing pineapples!
Heidi I hope they find answers soon
Mo I am good. Just busy and scatterbrained. Trying positive body talks. ....I am relatively healthy, my body moves well, I can walk , dance, sit, stand. I did go to Kohls Monday night and bought 5 new tunic sweaters/shirts to wear with my leggings. 5 items for $90! And $10 Kohls cash. If i am going to be a little heavier than normal, I will do it comfortably!
DH and I had cardiologist appt on Tuesday. I am back on the monitor for a week since I am actively walking for exercise to see how heart is reacting. Usually an easy thing but this one hasn't wanted to connect as should. This morning I put on new adhesive...the verdict is still out. I have NSVT. DH had bunny ears on his EKG. Something about right brachial nerves firing a little slow. Now he has an Echo scheduled for next Friday. Theater Tuesday was wonderful. Saw Kimberly Akimbo. Knew nothing about it and laughed lots!
Wednesday was Kawasaki school online at home. Got laundry done, sheets changed, and lots of steps in. I made 93% on my test. Good enough!
Yesterday, DH was suppose to be seen by Elbow doctor, but had to reschedule as doctor was caught on shut down highway. All is good, now goes next Tuesday. Got my hair colored last night. Nice to not see the grey roots.
Bloodwork this morning for me to check b12 and iron.
Computer frustrations at work/home. Finally figured out work around for now. Frustration at Sister in law for half "helping" with my job. Can't change. But you know what....I am taking care of me. I am getting in a minimum of 15 mins walking in daily (exercise, I am on my feet most of day), my calories and protein looking good, water intake really good. I am still nicotine free. My DH found out Tuesday.....more later.
Have to get ready for work.
Hugs held extra tight for everyone just because they feel nice!
Healing thoughts!
Make the best choices you can in the moment! 5 mins is better than no minutes!

Busy time lately as I'm kind of living 2 people's lives again.
On Tuesday, my husband had his follow up with the surgeon, then saw the physiotherapist and got his moonboot. His recovery from the Achilles tendon surgery will be very gradual and will take a long time -- they figure it will be 9 months.
He's getting around with a walker (the stand up and limp kind) and a knee walker, but it is very difficult for him, so I'm taking on a lot of things he did. He's also a lot more tired that usual ... probably because he's healing.
I'm making about half the dinner meals. Usually he makes them all.
I'm loading and unloading the dishwasher - that's particularly difficult for him to do.
I've done his laundry as well as mine. Usually we each do our own laundry.
I'm taking the rubbish out. That's normally his job!
Today, I did something for the very first time in my entire life. Today, I mowed the front lawn. I have never ever mowed a lawn before.
Growing up, my parents mowed the lawn. Then my husbands mowed the lawn or I lived in places where it was taken care of. When my current husband has his brain injury accident, we were already using a lawn service, so that kept going. But we stopped that a few years ago.
I was hoping that the heat would kill off the grass and no one would have to mow the lawn in the near future, but this grass here is indestructible. It's not going to die off and the winter growing season will be upon us soon.
So I mowed.
But it also got my husband out of the house. He was very patient and told me what I needed to do ... and he got some fresh air as well.
I am trying to encourage him to keep doing whatever he can do because I think it's important, physically and mentally, to keep active.
In addition to mowing the heavily overgrown lawn, I also worked a full day (from home), took Rhody out for a couple walks, made dinner, went for a bicycle ride, did some more colouring, and read.
Bicycle ride ...

The Velux man was over an hour late, and no apology.
No bedside manner at all. However, he managed to replace the broken window, and the one on the top floor that is from the same bad batch. He was soooo quick! We had no idea he had finished. The large square window over the dining room table is apparently a different batch manufacture, so deemed to be OK. Something about a B6 or a B7.
Really glad that's done. They are over 20 years old, so it's good that Velux honour their warranty.
Expecting some new watercolour brush pens today. Our original set is holding on, but a couple of colours are beginning to run out of puff. We've had them over two years and used them a lot. I highly recommend them for anyone who wants to 'paint', but doesn't want the mess. For the best result, use 300 gm watercolour paper, as you may have to add water for some effects. They provide a pen sized water reservoir.
Also expecting a tube of watercolour lemon yellow, which we seem to get through very quickly.
Homemade pizza tonight. I've got to pre cook the leeks. Leek, mozzarella, and anchovies. Having asparagus with it.

Tracey This past week we had the same kind of weather. It will finally break today and tomorrow no overnight below 0. Yeah! It has been hard on my little dog. It is less than 5 minutes in and out. Even with that I have double coated her. When we come in I walk her around the house by throwing freeze dried food for her to run after and find.
The humidity is low indoors too which is hard on skin and makes germs travel more easily through the air so I skipped most of my activities this week. Here there is COVID, flu, and Norovirus going through the population. So far have not caught one of these and don't want to!
Debbie I heard what your MIL is going through called the ammonia phase. The body gets so toxic it affects the brain. From how you described her actions sound like she has been in that stage for some time. Prayers for you and your DH. I hope he starts doing things for himself to help him heal from all the abuse. Same for you because you are affected too!

Lynn, I love Carbanada. I have different types of it. I am going to order more for my chicken noodle soup.
Whoever asked where to get it asked where I got it. I purchased it from Amazon. I love the Arnold Hot Dog buns, too. I get my hamburger buns from Royo. They taste great. I even packed a loaf for my trip, and I'll tell you. I didn't gain weight on my vacation or during Christmas. I was able to continue losing. As of February 13th, I had lost 9 pounds after the Christmas holiday.
Heather, I have watercolor pencils but not brush pens. I will look into that. It sounds interesting to work with. I have some new brush pens in my bin, some by Sakura and some by Zig. They are made with Archival ink and are acid-free. They call them Pigma.
Kylia,
Did your DH quit smoking, too? Take care of yourself because, like I told DS, you have one life. Treat that one life like it is precious. My job calls me to see if I can pick up extra. They think that I have nothing else to do. Working on my health is a full-time job as well. I need rest. I need to restore my mental health, too. You are frustrated with your SIL; you need her to have your back when you are not at work. I don't know if I can deal with the freezing temps in the Midwest. I am freezing in the south. I am such a wimp now. I do have a nice winter coat. I am ready for spring weather. So I can mix up my workout.
Well, I will lie down so I can sleep for work.
Tight hugs to everyone. Lisa, I hope you feel better soon. Annie, I hope all is well with you. Carol, do something you love to do to raise your spirits. Everyone should. Have a wonderful weekend, everybody.
XO,

Morning, my chickens,
I was working away on all five of the things I've got in progress at the moment, and then I woke up and realized that I wasn't. I was dreaming. Dang, I was making good progress, too! ๐๐โโฌ๐
Adventures in home reno:This morning, I want to get all the tile in the bathroom cleaned with mineral spirits.
I started two weeks ago painting the grout in our main bathroom, which is dark brown - don't ask me why anyone would dye grout the same color as poo in a bathroom, I don't know. Decided after the second try at getting a few feet of grout painted from dark brown to a pale cream color, that if I kept going, I'd have to paint over blood spatters from beating my head against the wall.
Made more sense to paint the tiles and grout together.
Had to order it in - got bright white (one hopes it will cover the dark brown - it's supposed to). But first I have to clean off at least 50 years of humanity from the tile. Few people clean walls, and this is basically tile wainscoting. We already covered the floor tile with vinyl plank before we moved in.
Other stuff that isn't home improvement:I'd also like to get a base coat of white gesso rolled on the side of the refrigerator again, to prep it for a new painting that has been percolating. For those who remember, after about six months of existing in all it's glory, I peeled off the tree I painted on it. This time will be very different.
Want to also finish a purse that's in progress and finish one or possibly two more videos for the month of February. Really would like to get at least one and possibly two weeks ahead of the weekly video scheduling I've set up. Just because, when the inevitable point of burnout gets reached, I can stop for a bit, and then start back up without a visible hitch in the schedule. The further ahead I am, the longer break I can take.
Afternoons, when I stop doing everything else, and in the evenings with Corey after dinner, I'm also making granny hexies (like granny squares, but with six sides instead of four). I'm making a dozen or so at a time--each is about the size of the palm of my hand--and then putting them together - it will either be a shawl or a blanket, according to how long I can stand to make the same small shape over and over.
Pleased with how it's coming together, and they're easy to work up, just mildly tedious at this point. Tedious and easy are good things when you're watching mysteries. There are LOTS of ends to weave in with each one. The hexies, not the mysteries. ๐ If you know, you know.
Heidi: It's good to see you, we all understand when life gets in the way. Thanks for the "crap gap," term, it's very apt for this space between when the old shot stops working and the new one is two weeks away...
Machka - Your own dedication to exercise is a huge part of how you keep up with your life. This injury and a lengthy recovery cannot be good for your husband's mental state. I know it's a worry. Just... thinking about you.
Heather - It always shocks me when I reach for a color and it's nearly empty - When I'm in the middle of things, I don't realize how much of any paint or watercolor I use, I just keep going until it's done. So glad you and John took that one class on the ship that colored your lives together so brightly...
Sorry, the metaphor was irresistible! ๐๐โโฌ๐
Beth - Four years seems impossible. We don't know how strong we are until we survive the unthinkables. Your ability to find your own joy in the other parts of your life always strikes me as such a strength in you. I think husbands, in particular, have a hard time admitting any weakness, so they power through to do things that they just don't have to. Male pride? I dunno.
Heather's paints and Beth's husband reminded me that this is the the first time Corey and I have lived someplace long enough to buy more pantry staples - like black peppercorns, table salt, or even ketchup, which we only use in recipes. We've always moved before we had to buy things like that, and then just had to re-buy at our next place! This coming October will be eight years in one place, half our lives together spent here, as our 16th anniversary is this summer.
Enjoying the years, but oh, they fly so fast.
Still cold, but at least it's out of the single digits. Time to scramble off to Aldi's for some ground beef (mince) for hamburgers for dinner. Corey makes me a slider-sized burger and him one or two large patties, plus peppers and onions and whatever else he's in the mood for.
Later, y'all,
Love,

Heather - glad the Velux window is fixed, hopefully they'll all last forever! Please tell me a little bit more about how you use those watercolor brush pens. Specifically, do you first do a light pencil drawing of the painting and then fill in with the color? Did you order them from Amazon?
Machka - sounds like you'll be super busy in the upcoming months until your DH recovers enough to resume his chores and things that kept him occupied. Does he seem depressed from his change of pace and inability to help like he had been doing? I hope you are able to get more time for yourself and rest up. Good job mowing, by the way.
Lisa - reading what all you have going on with the wall washing and prep work is reminding me I have a lot of outside projects I can do when it gets a little warmer today before the monsoons start up. If you run out of things to talk about on your YT channel, I bet people would love to see your remodeling work in progress and different projects you and Corey are tackling. I know I would. Maybe if you guys buy the druggie house.....
Kylia - Does the heart monitor you are wearing require a special cellphone to live transmit the data? Good that you and your DH are keeping up with the cardio stuff. We want you with us for a long, long time!
Mo - I admire you keeping up with your exercise program when you can, I know it's not always easy when you have so much going on and are exhausted. But you climb right back on that horse. Is your routine something you developed yourself or did you have help using a trainer/PT or?
My legs get a pretty good workout with my house walking and various stretches I do during the day, but arms... I just can't seem to be consistent. I ran across this arm circuit toning routine that doesn't take much time. I was surprised that some of them weren't very easy. I was using 2# weights. Might not be the best for strength training but I think it's a giant step. This gal is 73 years old and has some workouts with her mom. By the way, I had to go buy a cheap little analog clock at Walmart that has a second hand. Seems like everything in my house is digital and I didn't want to hassle with resetting the alarm on my dumbphone every 30 seconds.

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT - all three of my hens are now laying eggs! Fairy popped out one of her beautiful dark brown ones out yesterday. And of course, the price of eggs at the grocery store is plummeting, lol.
Will close for now.
