For weight loss (fat loss) calories are king. It's good that you track every day, "even the bad ones." It's possible that the bad ones are the most important to track to see how far over you are. Macros are good to pay attention to to ensure adequate nutrition. It's for sure important to get enough protein while doing weight loss.

We are over six weeks into the year now, and that sets you up really good if you have been tracking every day. In fact, it sounds like you've been tracking for quite a while. You have data to fine tune your goals! A couple questions:
    • How big of a deficit did you plan to have? Did you realize that deficit, or did your tracking suggest you were still eating more calories than you were burning.
    • Have you looked at your actual logging data to see how much deficit you were in for the last six weeks?
    • What would you have expected your weight loss to be over that time based just on your calorie balance?
    • Did your actual weight behave differently? If so, then things are working. To lose more, refocus on a new calorie target. If not, the focus on hitting your target, at least on average for the week.

Also, since you lost over 50 pounds, did you revise your goal? With 50 pounds less of you, there's lower energy demands. Your calorie needs decrease as your mass decreases. It's always a good idea to reevaluate goals every dozen or so pounds and fine tune it.

Main thing is keep sticking to it!

I'd really like to stay in the 1lb loss per week. I think I started too low for calories in the beginning so adjusting to get to a place that works for me now.

Looking back, although tracking, I was traveling quite a bit over the last few months so my calories were higher than they should have been. Luckily, I've pretty much maintained overall as opposed to significant gain. That's a positive insight.

I'm going to focus back on hitting my base calorie number and not so much on exercise calorie adjustments. Also, focusing on protein and macro awareness.

Never giving up! Thanks for the insight and support!

January flew by and I pretty much maintained my wt. I know I need to crank up the exercise because that's the area I'm lacking. It wasn't that long ago all my entries were in the 260's so I'm feeling pretty good about my progress. Have a great month everyone and lets drop some LBS.

    February Start Weight:226.6
    February Goal Weight:222.6

    February 1: 226.6
February 8: 224.2 a good week focusing on low carb & very little sugar living
February 15: 224.2 maintained this week
February 22: 224.6. DOWN -2LBS I think I can get one more before 3/1 lets do it
February 28: 221.7 wow finished up strong I did some 16 hr and a 24 hr water fast this week. Fasting works for me. I have to get my mind wrapped around it but I attribute my success in losing 52 lbs and keeping off that weight in large part to fasting. On to March and what lies ahead.

My name is Donna. I am 64 years old and I live in the Midwest of the US. I am 5โ€™ 5โ€ tall. My highest weight was 253 in 2016. My MFP start weight was 235 in 2018.

Ultimate Goal Weight: 145-155 (Iโ€™ll know it when I get there!)

    Start Weight (from Jan 31st ): 191.2

Goal Weight: 187.2 (4 pound loss)

End of Challenge Final Weight: 197.8

Weight lost/gained this month: 6.6 lbs Gained

Weight in blue makes me blue because itโ€™s a gain. Weight in fuchsia pink makes me feel cheery because itโ€™s a loss. Weight in black means no change.

    02/01-191.8-(Trend Weight: 192.3)-

    02/02-192.4-(Trend Weight: 192.3)-

    02/09-195.7-(Trend Weight: 193.5)-

    02/16-194.4-(Trend Weight: 194.7)-

02/23-197.2-(Trend Weight: 195.2)- I lost my best friend in the world to cancer yesterday morning after a hard fought battle. This has shook my world as we were both widows and spent a lot of time together over nearly 30 years. I am devastated. My weight has drifted Way up over the past week. Itโ€™s peculiar, when I was a younger person in my 20โ€™s and 30โ€™s, if I was upset or grieving I would lose weight. Food was of no interest. Now that Iโ€™m older (in my mid 60โ€™s) food has become a crutch and the emotional eating is shocking. Iโ€™m not surprised by this weight gain right now. Iโ€™ll work on it as best as I can. Too close to losing Onederland!

02/28-197.8-(Trend Weight: 196.1)-I think this is probably the worst month on record for me. And it is the shortest month of the year! Lots of emotional eating, especially with the loss of my best friend. Funeral is tomorrow and then I hope to get back some semblance of my old self. At this point Iโ€™m just hanging in there. I need to make a stance. See you next round.

Every healthy habit brings me closer to scratching each of these off to NEVER see them again!

I think Valentineโ€™s long weekend did me in last week, but I had a big water weight drop and managed to get 3 lbs off this week. Iโ€™m making some changes to my diet and exercise for March in hopes to shift another 3-4 lbs. off me.

Thank you for hosting this challenge. It has really helped to keep me accountable each week because I hate weighing myself.

    Hey everyone,

I lost another couple of lbs this week! However, there are a couple of caveats - I'm a bit dehydrated today after having some alcohol last night, and I usually weight myself on a Monday afternoon. So I'm going to start the March challenge on Monday 3rd March.

    February 3: 152
    February 8 (weighed Feb 10th): 152
    February 15 (weighed Feb 17th): 152
    February 22: 149.4 (weighed Feb 24th)
    March 1: 147.6

    Total loss in Feb: 4.5lbs

Looking forward to catching up with all of you over on the March challenge. Spring is coming and the heavy jumpers and coats are going... so let's say goodbye to some more of those pesky pounds!

Heaviest weight: 175.4 in early 2013.
Original MFP starting weight (January 2018): 168.2
    December 31, 2024 Weight: 158.0 (10-day average 157.2)
January 25 (Starting Weight for this challenge): 153.8 (10-day average 153.5)
February goal: Get below the top of maintenance weight range (153 pounds)
Ultimate goal: Stay in maintenance range between (absolutely 140 - 153 and ideally 142-148)

I report scale weight and (ten day average weight), and I post on Saturdays.

    January 25: 153.8 (10-day average 153.5)
    February 1: 153.4 (10-day average 153.4)
    February 8: 155.6 (10-day average 153.9)
    February 15: 152.4 (10-day average 153.8)
    February 22: 155.2 (10-day average 153.4)
    March 1: 154.2 (10-day average 154.0)

Total loss for February: Less than zero. I am a half pound up from the beginning of the month. Another failure. While I know it can feel futile, I am going to keep sticking to it. I'm down 3.2 pounds for the year. I'll call that a success; it's almost a half pound a week on average. C'mon March; let's move in the right direction. In like a lion, out like a thinner lion!

    Keep sticking to it!
