Barbie - thank you. And with all you have going on.
Heather - Bea is so athletic
Vince ordered the tile and the niche for the tub. The contractor will pick the tile up because I'm not sure they'll deliver it to the third floor. Now we just have to get a light and mirror. Vince wants to take measurements tomorrow.
After the pot luck got Vince to at least walk around the parking lot one time. Well, it was getting cold. I went back in a played cards.

just got back from my last walk of the day. At just over 21,000 steps/9 1/2 miles. Would have walked the last 1/2 mile but my friend needed to pee and the bathrooms at the park are locked for the winter. It was great to chat and catch up. We see each other at Zumba when she can make it(she had her grandkids on Wed), but don't get to chat much.
I will barely get 10,000 tomorrow I think but that is ok.
Having a cup of Sweet and Spicy tea. Will have a snack while watching some tv for the evening. Dh is in a mood- I didn't cook dinner- there are lots of leftovers or things he can make in the microwave(pizza bites or burritos)but he didn't want any of them. He is having a bowl of cereal now- waited until I got home to eat that-I was gone just an hour. Oh well. He is in his room now so I will change the channel on the tv- don't feel like watching a rerun of the old Star Trek. HGTV it is or something I taped.
Have a good evening/morning

Barbie Thank you for leading us positively into March!
"False Spring " was this week. Has been nice. Yesterday the newscaster called it a "skirt alert and scary hair" day! It was really windy! We hit our high today at midnight. Temps falling to 32 today with snow showers. Currently awaiting DH to finish MRI at hospital. Then off to work.
Thank you for your advice on protein. I will look at my specs for February to check in.
Much love,

Went to Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary with my husband, a friend from work, and his mother. We got to see a wombat, a couple Tasmanian Devils, a couple echidnas, blue tongued lizards, kangaroos, and various Australian birds.
https://www.bonorong.com.au/
Then I went for a walk to the local beach ... I've seen a good-sized echidna there on a previous walk, but not this time.
It was pizza night, so I walked Rhody while my husband got that ready.
And then I spent the evening getting bits and pieces done around the house.

Listened to a interview with Dr. Seyfried about the theory that cancer is a metabolic illness not a genetic illness. Take aways for me are continue high fiber diet but be more mindful of foods that can spike glucose level like too much fruit, up greens and other veggies that are low in sugar and starch, continue intermittent fasting, up my exercise. (less sitting) I am starting to read and listen to more doctors who are starting to look at this. You will not hear this from the conventional doctors because they are rooted in certain standards of care and cannot go against the flow or risk losing their license.
One of the biggest success stories Dr. Seyfried discussed was a young man who had brain cancer. With standard treatment he would have had two years tops. He lived for ten years and it was not the cancer that killed him, What killed him was a complication from a surgery to remove the cancer. He had a massive stroke. What he went on was a ketogenic diet prescribed by Dr. Seyfried and had surgeries to remove the tumor when it got too big! The ketogenic diet got the tumor manageable enough for surgery.
I find it interesting the my sister was starting to go on the Aitkins diet right before she was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer. It is like she knew what her body needed to do. Unfortunately she was not able to follow through before put on the chemo regime. She lived for two and half years after being diagnosed and went through horrible side effects. My DH lived for six years. Again horrible side effects from treatment. Knowing what I know now if he had given up alcohol and late night snacking and refused the steroids prescribed (steroids up your glucose) I believe he would have done better.
Same for DS who passed learning more and more his type of mental illness has a metabolic component. His drinking threw gasoline onto the fire.
I really like Dr. Seyfried he would say I cannot tell you what to eat or how to live your life. All I can do is present facts to you and let you decide where you want to go from here. He did acknowledge how hard it is to make changes when there is a Dunken Donut around every corner.4 -
Went out for tea with the daughter of a friend of mine who passed last year and her husband. The husband is making many of the major changes I have been making this past year. It was great to find a kindred spirit. He is trying to get his wife to address how much she likes to go out to eat both for cost and for health. We motivated each other. I think he liked the fact the things we discussed with her were leading her to make better decisions for her health. She now has type ll diabetes. He has metabolic syndrome and is on the verge of becoming diabetic if he does not make changes. Talking to him he is on the right track to make the changes he needs. I know he wants his wife on board too because he loves her! I plan to invite them over for a chilli dinner sometime soon.4

Lovely to be in March! Thank you Barbie π
The spring sunshine gave me a rare shot of enthusiasm for a bit of spring cleaning! On the way down the stairs, I noticed the phone and modem were covered in dust!I guess the cleaner doesn't like to dust them in case she messes them up.
Anyway, they are now nice and shiny.
I also hoovered the living room rug, which shows every single blob. Bad choice of rug by me, but I do have a stick Dyson which I use almost exclusively for that rug. Also descaled the electric kettle and washed the filter. Deblobbed the kitchen floor. Etc etc.
Then I washed John's toilet brush and holder. Yuck!!! Don't know what came over me, but it's been annoying me for months waiting for him to notice.π
It's still a gorgeous day out there and I've put some laundry away.
I'm waiting for Amazon to bring me some fermented black beans so I can make Chicken with Black Beans for dinner. I actually do have half a packet in the fridge, but they are soooooo old even I can't use them!! The delivery is due any second. Having the dish with a side of green beans.
Love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx6 -
Morning, kids, and happy March!
Such a busy few days this week, and so much information flooding into my brain about property law and title that I got totally absorbed and forgot to exercise yesterday! The first day I've missed since January 7, which I'm reasonably pleased about - but was so distracted and sleepless yesterday that I forgot to weigh myself, too, and then forgot again this morning. So - I'll post my progress against goals tomorrow.
Right now all that's slated for March is the quick trip to Eureka Springs for the fibre festival mid-month. If it goes well, I'm thinking about driving the five hours over to see my sis in May. Haven't seen her since before the pandemic, and I'd get to see her kids, who are my favorites of the nieces and nephews. Lots of ifs and buts and maybes...
Right now it's lovely and sunny and warm, so March is definitely coming in like a lamb here, supposedly means it will be going out like a lion... So I'm going to wait to plant bulbs for a bit. The daytime temps are lovely, but still freezing overnight. Plus, of course, the time change is next weekend, waking up in the dark again.
Hope it's a wonderful March for us all.
Love y'all,
Lisa in AR

Barbie - thank you for the new month! Isn't it nice to be able to walk your girls in the morning with the earlier sunrise? By the way, how often do you have to replace your walking shoes? Is your walking trail paved, dirt or both?
One good thing about house walking - less wear and tear on my shoes, but I'm looking forward to my ten minutes on the street in the early mornings before the neighborhood wakes up, greeting the sunrise and all that.
Machka - I love that SMART chart. No wonder February flew by for you, you busy gal. Glad to hear you and your DH were able to get away to see that Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary.
Debbie - I was glad to hear that the process for DS to move into MIL's house is taking shape. Sounds like a good opportunity for his GF to get away from the cramped living situation she's currently in. I can't remember - is the walking trail in the wetlands paved? Just curious if you go through a lot of shoes with your long walks outside as well. So glad to hear you were able to catch up with your Zumba friend.
Kim - the vinegar in the toilet bowl worked! I only let the vinegar sit in there for 3 hours, but 98% of the stain in the bottom of the toilet bowl scrubbed out easily. What a good way to use up old vinegar. Thank you again for the tip. Collette will be impressed!
Margaret - I've seen some interviews with Dr. Seyfried and his work with cancer patients and KETO are impressive. I have also repeatedly read that cancer uses glucose as a fuel source and can't use ketones, hence the success of a KETO diet. What great timing meeting that couple for tea, I'm sure they picked up good tips and resources from you. I think some people are eager to change their diet but don't know where to start.
Lisa - another fiber festival sounds exciting. And a drive to visit your sister? Hope it works out for you.
Looks like March is coming in like a lamb this year in my area as well. I decided I'm done with the woodstove unless there's an extended power outage for some reason, so cleaned up and put away firewood, some of it went back out to the greenhouse. Need to do some pruning today and more cleanup. The warm sunny days (while I have them) get me in the mood for spring cleaning.
Make it a wonderful weekend!

Barbara Happy Birthday
Walking shoes The walks I take are mostly on paved roads with some on grass or gravel paths. I seem to need a new pair of shoes every year, but I haven't really kept track. I wear different shoes in the summer when the grass isn't so wet.
I am doing OK. I get things accomplished, eat well, and get rest but I am struck with moments of sadness that almost knock me over. One of my line dance friends says that she has those moments even after 23 years.
Going to Costco today. Jake used to do the Costco shopping so this is fairly new for me. This will be Annie's first time waiting in the car at Costco.

Happy birthday Barbara-
Today is my current MIL's birthday- she is 89. Today is also the memorial service for my former MIL.
Wish it was the other way around, sadly to say but it is because of how I have been treated by both of these ladies.
Waiting for son to get home from work(supposed to work half shift) then we are all going over to MIL's house to start slowly clearing it enough for son and his girlfriend to move in. He won't get all of the stuff out like he would like but we are starting. Starting on things that should be tossed, tons of plastic butter tubs when she has plenty of clear storage containers, plastic drink cups from fast food places when she has Tupperware cups they can use. There are cabinets that we have no idea what is in them. He wants them gone, compromise is moving them out of his way(one was used as a wall divider when his brother was using that area for his bedroom-it is a two bedroom house and those are a bit small.)
Back to cooler winter weather. The false spring was great while it lasted.

I agree, it is a perfect time for the "kids" to move out.
The wetlands is partially paved at the beginning but the rest it gravel/dirt. I wear Reeboks most of the time. These pair, with good insoles have lasted quite a long time. I do tend to wear out the inside of the heals-inside the shoes plus wears unevenly on the outside- have only a small spot on the inside and I have worn these for about a year I think. I used to buy the cheaper ones at Big 5 but they didn't last long. Very comfy at first but not firm enough on the soles.
I need to try the vinegar in the toilets. Thanks for the reminder.

Happy Birthday Barbara!πππΉπππΌπ€π€
Today is blue skies, and crisp temps.
I am still dealing with sinus cold but at least last night I wasn't sloshing back and forth, band draining down to make me cough. I hate that congestion! I bought some alka seltzer plus day and night fizzy tablets. On day two and already feel better. It is drying things out.
My middle son wants to video chat this weekend! So either tonight or tomorrow night! Yeah! Tonight we might get the overseas sons too, but that is always iffy. They might have duty or whatever. Its the surprise pop ins that are fun! Like Christmas for me! It does amazing things for my mood!
He wants to get together when I am down to the funeral so maybe I might just have them pick me up on a Sunday, and then spend a couple days with them. I will see the kids in the mornings, and be able to play one on one with Eli during the day with his babysitter, then a couple fun nights of son, daughter in law and of course my Athena. Then on Wednesday I can take a train home as daughter in law if off that day. Its a challenge to see them, when they work full time!
Today husband wants a messy burger on base at the bowling alley place in the Family Service center. So that will be my food for the day totally!
We have been watching the old series, "The Avengers" with of course Patrick Macnee and Dianna Rigg. I swear some of her outfits could poke an eye out! Her bras so pointy!! Then of course he is so funny pulling a hot pot of tea out of his bag on a train, like a male Mary Poppins!ππ
I had a long conversation on the phone with my "sister in heart" a friend I have known about 35 years! We met when our husbands were both stationed at Yokosuka, Japan. She lives in Connecticut, single now, and its hard to hear of her struggles in life. She divorced husband, has a son (I helped deliver) and is still working, driving with the school bus transportation dept there. Its physically hard for her to keep testing every 6 months to keep her standing. She's very independent, but wishes to be taken care of. There isn't anyone in her court. Everyone should have their people who call on them, asking how they're doing, checking up on them. I try but by phone I can only do so much. Her son is a busy guy, and her one brother is in hospice in Arizona. I could tell she needed to vent about the frustration, sadness and grief about that.
I read about grief the other day. The gift of grief. That in the hard times you can't pick and choose your struggles. You have to accept them all. The whole lot. The gift is the experience. That going thru that grief, immersed in the sadness is the experience of love. You loved and that is the gift. I thought that was a beautiful way of looking at grief and it struck a chord with me.
