That’s great to hear!
@chris_in_cal Also glad to see you are able to get back to running. Fingers crossed that March is this group’s “on the mend” month!6 -
March total: 18.3/100 miles
YTD: 233.2 miles
3/2: 5.1 miles
3/3: 5.1 miles
3/4: 8.1 miles
Today was my last day to do a long run before my next HM. I know better than to think I will find time while traveling. We have a storm system coming through today bringing some odd weather. This morning was 70F, 95% humidity and intermittent rain. And windy. By this afternoon we will be down to 18% humidity! Wild! Also super windy with a fire conditions alert. Ofc, I’m not sure how much of a chance a fire stands today with how wet everything is, but it’s super unusual for Houston to see high winds and very low humidity.
I went out for my run this morning in what looked like a little break in the rain. I made it most of the way before the rain started. At first it was a nice sprinkle but by the end, it was a torrential downpour and blowing in sideways. Haven’t gotten soaked like that in a while. I loved it! My watch downgraded me to strained but I’m not surprised. I ran yesterday evening then did a long run about 12 hours later. I kept the effort low. My legs were tired, again not a surprise. I decided this was a good sample of what a HM would feel like. Cumulative fatigue is a cornerstone of the Hanson’s training plans so long runs are always done on tired legs and are supposed to mimic the end of your race, not the beginning. That was what today felt like. Even though I could tell my legs were tired I don’t feel wiped out now, so I think the walk-run intervals are helping on that front.
Tonight my kid and I are going to see Hamilton. I’m looking forward to it but they are sooooo excited. Hamilton is one of their favorite musicals. They know all the songs and have watched the recorded version several times. I’m glad we were able to make it happen for them to see it in person. Should be fun but will make for a late night and tomorrow morning will probably come far too quickly. Oh well, it’s one night for a good cause!6 -
@quilteryoyo, the kids do the beep test at school to measure their fitness. It’s a core memory/PTSD special kind of thing from childhood. https://www.blazepod.com/en-intl/blogs/all/full-beep-test-guide-what-is-it-and-who-needs-it3

3/1: 4.00 miles
3/4: 2.44 miles
6.44 / 45 miles for March thus far.6 -
7.5km for me this morning - nice and slow because my bum was sore from yesterday‘s Pilates. This is my last run before my half on Sunday to give my body time to recover.
I did manage to get a headwind in both directions while I was out, but at least the breeze is from the south so it was nice and cool as the sun was very hot.
As an added bonus. Garmin still thinks I’m productive!

Yikes @ContraryMaryMary that beep test sounds brutal! We didn't have that here when I was in school… but we had the Presidential fitness test that included a lot of different physical tests, along with a mile run that had to be completed in XX minutes (I forget the time limit). But that was everybody's dreaded time of the year. Like you, I still have PTSD thinking about it.
@WarmJellyfish glad you are feeling human again. I really feel you!
@chris_in_cal glad you are back at running again. Great to see you coming back and getting strong.
@martaindale happy you enjoyed running in the rain. We had BAD storms here this morning. Winds clocked in at 84mph around my neighborhood. We had many many trees, fences, street signs, etc. blow down around us. The only damage we sustained was a couple shingles pulled up, hose box cover broken off.
No power at work all day, so worked from home and got in a little over 3 mile TM interval run in. Getting closer to running for real.

@WarmJellyfish I'm glad you are feeling more human. That song would be perfect for daycare. I'll have to remember that. Thanks.
@martaindale Great running. I don't know if I would like doing a long run on tired legs. My motivation and determination would be low, I fear. 🤣 Enjoy Hamilton!
@ContraryMaryMary I don't think I ever had to do that test. Sounds like it gets tough quickly. 5.3 isn't that bad of a score. Have fun with your HM on Sunday.
I'm glad you are able to run again @Scott6255 . Also glad that you didn't have any worse damage from the storms.

1 March - Walk 0.75 miles - Ran 4.00 miles Treadmill
2 March - Walk 1.25 miles - Ran 0.00 miles Treadmill
3 March - Walk 1.75 miles - Ran 2.50 miles Treadmill and driveway laps - Gym 25m30s
4 March - Walk 1.90 miles - Ran 3.10 miles Treadmill - Gym 26m55s
15.25/80.00 mile goal
I can't figure out how to not have a space between the entries. If anyone knows how to fix that, let me know.
I went to the gym this morning. Today was legs and dead lift. My max was 95 pounds, 10 reps, 3 sets. Also did single leg extensions, single arm kettlebell, and leg press. While there, I did a 0.25 miles walk before the strength training and 0.75 miles after.
I was tired when I got home, so wound up spending most of the afternoon on the couch and napping. But, once I got up, I made myself go down and do another treadmill session. The temps were nice out, but too windy to be safe with all the trees along my driveway.
I wasn't sure how far I would be able to go, but made my goal of running 3.10 miles to commemorate what would have been my 31st wedding anniversary. I was actually thinking it was 29 years, but realized my mistake while running. Avg pace was 12:56 min/mile. Avg HR was 140 with a max of 159 bpm. I also walked 1.90 miles to make the total for the day 5.00 miles.
Also can't figure out how to get the picture under the spoiler. Here is the only picture I have of me and my husband the day we were married. They got lost somewhere along the way. Notice my hair isn't totally silver yet. 😃

@quilteryoyo I'm actually pacing the Time to Paddy Half in Indianapolis. I have never heard of this half marathon before, but the Pacing organization asked if I would pace it and so I said sure. I just need to find something green to wear.😉

March Goal: 125 miles
3/2: 12.04 miles
3/3: 4.05 miles
3/4: 6.26 miles
22.35/125 miles completed for March
I didn't post yesterday, but I did run 4 miles. The weather was nice. I didn't sleep well and I was pretty tied, but I felt better after I got going.
Today I ran 6.25 miles and it was really nice. There was a thunderstorm when I got up, but it passed through and it was really good running weather. It was a little chilly, but not bad. I felt pretty speedy. I almost had negative splits. Mile two was slightly faster than mile 3, but other than that I was faster each mile. My first mile was 10:50 and mile 6 was 9:32. Average pace was 10:18. So not my fastest, but faster than my usual easy pace.
I was glad to get a nice run in this morning because for the rest of the day the winds were terrible and the sky was brown from all the dirt blowing. I think the storms that passed through this morning were worse to the east. (I am west of Dallas/Fort Worth.) Glad you didn't have too much damage @Scott6255 .

ahhh new text editor. Guess those spaces are part of the issue. It was exactly the same here as @kgirlhart said. We had strong strong in the morning right when I wanted to run so I only had time for a short one after they passed by. Then at lunch the winds were up but the air was still ok. By the time I left work the sky was an ugly muddy brown and the air was choking. And the winds were still gusting to over 50. I got home and collected all the trash which had blown into my yard and sealed myself in the house. The weatherman finally caught up about that time and issued an air alert warning (a few hours late if he had looked out the window). It's not as windy today and I think I can see some stars so maybe the air is better for running this morning. I don't see the same features for posting here today. So will have to learn how to do spoilers again. I see emoji, photo, attachment and URL. And there is a PPH mark to the left but not sure what all the tools are in that one. Oh - that has menus under each thing so maybe the bulleted format or something will help with the spacing.

Testing
here is how spoiler works:
Hit spoiler symbol, then quote symbol, then that eye symbol:
And yes, the double spacing is very annoying!!!! Sigh….

- 01/03 2.93 miles
- 03/03 3.04 miles
- 05/03 3.04 miles
- Total 9.01 / 70 miles
- Sounds like the weather is pretty bad all over! I took Sunday as a 'rest day' and then missed yesterday because I couldn't get out in the morning and it was just too stormy for the rest of the day. So this morning it was still stormy but I just sucked it up and went. I knew I would have felt worse for not going than getting blasted in the wind.
- @quilteryoyo Lovely wedding photo!
I can't get the dots to go away😂

Wow, they really know how to make things complicated!
I was supposed to meet a friend to run this morning but it was pouring rain and still windy so we both said nope. Leaving for Charleston SC in the morning to participate in Peyton's Wild n Wacky 50K on Saturday. Hopefully, we won't be flooded out this year!
Good luck with your half on Sunday @ContraryMaryMary!
Glad all our Texans are safe from those winds!

That's great @steviebee888 . What is the pace you are running? I'm always in awe of pacers. I have a pair of green leggings that you could borrow. 😂I look like an elf when I wear them.
You're doing great @brnlow .
@kgirlhart That is fantastic running!
Be careful in that dusty air @SummerSkier , @Scott6255 and @kgirlhart .
Thanks @daria0919 I figured that much out as far as the spoiler goes, but the picture wouldn't load in the spoiler.
Thanks @Mari33a . Great job getting out for a run in that weather.
Good choice @Teresa502 . Have fun with the Peyton Saturday. I hope the weather is better.

Hi everyone!
I was having difficulty logging on yesterday, but I did run 8.4km. Today’s run was 9.2km and guess what I saw today while running? Something I have never seen running around before and didn’t even know lived in the forest so close to town. Two wild 🐗 boars! They crossed the path a good 100 meters ahead of me and I decided it was a good spot for my turn around point :). Tomorrow I will do my long run.
50.1/300km for March.5 -
01.03 stiff 5km walk
02.03 1.7km 12min 6:59/km - just fast
03.03 3.4km 25min 7:27/km - 15min fast
05.03 4.3km 35min 8:05/km - slow9.40km
Tried running yesterday, and gave up after not even 5 minutes as it was a shite run again. With that out of the way, and every second run being miserable I knew today would be fine :D It was not great, but a lot better than yesterday.

We have them in the Smoky Mountain National Park which is a couple of hours from me. They are known to be in the area where the Appalachian Trail goes through. When I hiked that section I kept my eye out for them. They are known to be on the aggressive side - at least the ones around here. We didn't see any thankfully but we did see places where they had "wallowed." Glad you made that u-turn!

01/03 - 5.20K / 3.23 miles Treadmill
02/03 - 8.20K / 5.10 miles Treadmill
03/03 & 04/03 - 0K / 0 miles (25K cycle on Mon, rest day on Tues)
05/03 - 7.7K / 4.8 miles* Treadmill…No boars spotted.😉
(*2 separate runs 1st - 22 mins constant decline, 2nd - 22 mins multiple inclines. Normally I'd mix it up in one run to keep it more realistic but I picked an initial run on the treadmill to follow that was downhill today without realizing it, so then found another run to throw in my own inclines; I hate the declines.)
Total = 21.1K / 13.13 miles (Goal - 160K / 99.42 miles)

Hi all! Signing up for 50 miles in March.
I got in a few runs at the end of Feb, so I am only starting to get back into the swing of things. I need to consistently get out there 2/3 times a week… so I just decided to set up a Garmin Coach plan, as I found the plans quite motivating previously!
I had good results with Coach Greg (I managed to go from zilch running to achieving 33:57 on my first 5k ParkRun last year), and I didn’t like Coach Jeff so I’m trying Coach Amy this time, with a goal of 5k in 30min.
I’ve also been thinking about some (modest) new goals for the coming year. I’m going with these:
Take part in at least two 5k ParkRuns
Run 10k (not a race, just as a distance)9 -
Good, welcome back.
I liked Coach Greg, didn't like Coach Jeff, and then tried coach Amy too. Exact same order. She was good. If I ever get fit again I'd go back to Coach Greg, his all seemed a little more high octane and faster challenges.
4 -
Wow @Laurz9191 . That would scare me. They can be really mean. Good thing you could probably outrun them with all the great running you've been doing.
@yirara Sorry about your runs. Do you think you should just try to run every other day and maybe take a walk the days in between?
Nice running @John772016 . I've never run on a treadmill that did downhills, just level and uphill. I think that would feel weird. I do love running downhills outside.
Glad you see you back @AmunahSki ! That was an amazing 5K pace going from zero running. Maybe I should try coach Greg. 😉

1 March - Walk 0.75 miles - Ran 4.00 miles Treadmill
2 March - Walk 1.25 miles - Ran 0.00 miles Treadmill
3 March - Walk 1.75 miles - Ran 2.50 miles Treadmill and driveway laps - Gym 25m30s
4 March - Walk 1.90 miles - Ran 3.10 miles Treadmill - Gym 26m55s
5 March - Walk 0.60 miles - Ran 2.50 miles Treadmill - Gym 26m45s
18.35/80.00 mile goal
I had an exceptionally busy day today, so did a treadmill run before leaving the house. The run was mostly 2/1 min at paces from 4.5-5.5/4.0 mph. Avg pace was 12:50 mph. Avg HR was 129 with a max of 157 bpm. It really didn't feel too hard. Just didn't have time for any more.
My gym PT appointment was at 11:30 today. Arm day. I did dumbbell press, low row, row machine, and lateral raises. The lateral raises surprised me because it felt so much easier on my left arm, which is normally my weak one. The PT said maybe because my right arm is tighter since I use it more.
Afterwards, I worked about 3 hours, came home and grabbed a bite to eat, picked up mom and went to the funeral home for visitation for a friends mom, and then to church.
I have my annual follow up with the vascular surgeon tomorrow morning. I expect all to be well.

March Goal: 125 miles
3/2: 12.04 miles
3/3: 4.05 miles
3/4: 6.26 miles
3/5: 6.02 miles
28.37/125 miles completed for March
I ran 6 miles today. It was chilly again. It's that time of year when you never know if it will be hot or cold. I saw a little dog out. He was running east, and so was I. When he noticed me behind him, he just started running faster. I guess he thought I was chasing him.
@Laurz9191 Good call. The feral hogs around here can be aggressive and mean. I would be scared if I came across one.
Hope all goes well tomorrow @quilteryoyo .
I got new shoes. My last pair has over 650 miles on them. It was definitely time for a new pair.
9 -
No running today. Lots of walking instead. Hubby and I walked to our local cafe for coffee first thing, which is 3.2km return. Then I met a friend to walk 5km up the two hills in Devonport, which is a lovely old suburb across the Harbour from Auckland city centre- stunning views.

March total: 3/28 miles
3/1: 1.0 mile (treadmill)
3/3: 1.0 mile 3/5:3/5: 1.0 miles
9 -
01/03 - 1.16km/0.72mi 13.5mins Walking(avg speed 4.6KPH/2.8MPH) 1.5mins Running (avg speed 7.5KPH/4.7MPH)
02/03 - 1.29km/0.8mi 15mins walking (avg speed 5.2KPH/3.2MPH)
03/03 - 0.00km one of the kids infected me with whatever new plague they've brought home from school.
04/03 -AM 2.09km/1.29mi 27.53mins walking (4.5KPH/2.8MPH avg) Still sick but kids had to get to school. First km or so I had to carry 22.5kg/49lb of child piggy back style. That certainly gets the HR going! PM 2.62km/1.62mi 38.16 mins WUN. (4.1KPH/2.5MPH AVG) probably the most frustrating WUN ever. Again, child who flip flopped between wanting to be carried and running away 🙄
05/03- AM 2.07km/1.28mi 28.26mins Walk. (4.3KPH/2.7MPH avg). PM 2.98km/1.85mi 34.76min Walk (4.9KPH/3MPH avg)
06/03 2.07km/1.28mi (5KPH avg) WUN with the dog
Total for March so far: 14.28km/8.87mi
Between the kids being sick, me being sick and the weather being stupidly hot(34c/93f high and 24c/75f Low) I definitely haven't been anywhere near as active as I'd like, but even so I've managed at least a walk almost every day this month so far.
