3/5 157.2

3/6 157

3/7 157

3/8 155.6 ten pounds to lose before I am at an ideal weight, no longer overweight by the charts. Went from obese in October to almost there.

3/9 155.6 Blood sugar 129 this am, lowest ever. Hope to have it normal in another three months, or sooner, if I stay strict!

3/10 still no weight drop but i was in a calorie deficit all this week, so expect an eventual whoosh. And my blood sugar was 124 this am. So I am happy and hopeful to see it eventually be normal. I will celebrate on that day. It means more to me than the weight loss.

I corrected the dates.

Any T2 diabetics here who can offer advice? My fasting BS was 124 this am, lowest since I was diagnosed, after 4 months of low carb dieting. I then took a walk/ball throw with my impatiently waiting German Shepherd before breakfast. Came back and tested my BS post walk and it was 177. I know (now) that exercise can release glycogen stores, but I was disappointed because I'd heard elsewhere that exercise can drop it. Now, 4 hours later, before lunch, another walk, and after 8000 steps total so far today, I tested my BS again and it was 144. Does anyone understand this stuff? I don't see how I can get my A1C down if exercise is jumping up my BS, even with a carb restricted and calorie reduction diet.

@itladyee Like I said, because it can release glycogen stores from the liver. Apparently it is more a morning phenomenon. And it doesn't happen to everyone. I don't know why I am so lucky that it is happening to me.

Fell off the challenge bandwagon in round 256, managed to keep losing weight until June 12th when I hit 155.9 (70.7 kg). I fell off the weight loss wagon shortly after. Decided to start back up the day before Round 278 started.

SW Rnd 289: 145 (65.8 kg)

3/2- 144.2 (65.4 kg). I don't believe this low will stick considering it's my second big drop in the past two days, but I welcome it as a herald of things to come. Plus this puts me past 50 pounds down from my high in 2020.

3/3- 144.2 (65.4 kg) Today I ate like total crap and ate too much. Tomorrow is a new day to make better choices.

3/4- 145.8 (66.1 kg) Ate Cadbury mini eggs for lunch. Yikes. But did well for dinner.

3/5- 145.5 (66 kg) Coming back down slowly.

3/6- 144.7 (65.6 kg) It's supposed to be warm this weekend. I'm excited for some decent weather. Not so excited about daylight saving time starting and losing an hour of sleep. One more day of work!

3/7-143.7 (65.2 kg) I survived the week, but I swear to heavens my colleagues across departments caused me to go through all the stages of grief today. I did have permission to match their effort (or lack thereof) and let things potentially fall. I did  eat two chocolate cupcakes today, but stayed below maintenance so that's a win for me.

3/8- 144.1 (65.4 kg) Went out a friend's house for dinner and got home after midnight so no posting. I had two glasses of wine (very rare for me), way too many rolls and the best smoked ribs I've ever had. I was hesitant with braces, but I could literally pull the meat off the bone with my fingers. It's been at least 3 years since I've had ribs.

3/9- 143.2 (65 kg) I plumb forgot to post, but I did track and weigh. A late night combined with the start of Daylight Saving killed me.

3/10- 143.7 (65.2 kg) A second day back on track, although tonight's dinner is high sodium.

3/11-

@deepwoodslady I'm so happy to see color in your posts again!

03/11 177.6 Ending with a little bump up but overall a great round. I over did it on some trail mix yesterday afternoon. It was definitely a case of being overly hungry while grocery shopping. A moment of weakness.
Yesterday was a Spring tease and I enjoyed being outside doing yard work. Plan to do the same today.
In general this was a great round. My snacking was under control 90% of the time. It’s a really small margin between losing, maintaining and gaining. So many variables. CICO is such an over generalization. It’s true but it’s not the only truth, many things can be true at the same time.

NSV this round, two different people commented on my “winter weight loss”. Lol, thank you I gained almost ten pounds this winter. These are workout friends so they do understand body composition. High fives all around!!!!!

GW - 155

Backstory
In 2022 I was around 157lbs with 24% bf. Was definitely in the “best shape” of my adult life then.  Since then I started a new career working from home as a developer. Have moved away from my family for fiancés job. We’ve moved several times to various states in a short time span. So far we’ve moved 3 times, all about 9 months apart. Welcomed two puppies into the mix. Lots of changes. Lots of time spent at home. Lots of time spent away from family. Fell out of touch with friends. All of the adjustments and figuring out how to manage/handle more daily responsibilities and navigate through this phase of life has manifested into me gaining 20+lbs and losing a lot of willpower, motivation, drive, positivity, etc that I once thrived on. Found this challenge and it has been helping me get it back. Nothing is permanent! Looking forward to working through this.
Overall Goals and Challenges
Goals

1. Focusing on behavior and mindset. Calories have been going way over for so long I need to reel the behavior back in a healthy way.
2. Don’t give up on the day when it’s challenging. Choose to make good decisions in those moments instead of giving in.

Challenges

1. Working from home makes it easy to stress eat or just eat out of boredom/habit.
2. Sleeping less (have two puppies, a 9mo and a 1yr old) makes it hard to wake up early enough to get a good workout in or at least to feel good awaking up. Feel defeated in the motivation and drive department compared to how I was previously.
Daily, Small, Attainable Goals
1. Finish 1st 27oz water before 2pm
2. Finish 2nd 27oz water before bed
3. Alternate standing and sitting at desk every other hour during working hours (or stand at least half of the day).
4. Hit maintenance calories at a minimum.
5. -200 cal deficit on gym days
6. If I go over cals, try to cap it at +200
7. Weekly deficit of 1300cals.
Thanks for allowing me the rant yesterday. And thanks for the encouraging words. Even chapter_3 😊

I had a molecule of self-control yesterday. Before I pound my chest like king kong I will remember what skyleen75 wrote… “I tell myself “weight loss isn’t linear” when I’m dealing with daily ups and downs…“

I won the battle of March 1. Now, onward with the war. Don’t fear the upticks and lost battles. No single battle will lose the war.

3/3: 230.0
I need to lock it down today!

DW made some yogurt in the Instant Pot Saturday. My new breakfast anchor for the rest of this round. She hasn’t done it in a while, but when she did I was in a losing mode.

3/4: 230.6
OK I am a bit confused because I thought yesterday was a lock down. I ate right and exercised well. Food was kinda carby. Logged it all. Group class at the gym in the morning and a nice bike ride in the afternoon. Worked up a sweat at both. Sat at the car dealer yesterday around noon for an oil change with free movie theater style popcorn 5 feet away and didn’t eat one kernel.

Chalk it up as a bump in the road. “It’s only a flesh wound.”

DW and I watched a Les Misérables concert on PBS Sunday night. Such a great story. Such great music. Fantastic performers. All about my favorite book. So, yesterday I decided to read it again after 30 years. I read it on the train, to and from work, in another life. To say Victor Hugo grinds the character development is a gross understatement. I guess if your going to fill 1500 pages you need to write about something! HA! This could take a while.

3/5: 229.6
Good luck to all as we find a new normal.

3/6: 230.0
DW and I are going to try joining a book club at our local library. Taking a short break from Les Mis to read “The Book Thief.” I read half in one day.

3/7: 230.8
Yesterday was Rotary thus the salty bump. Last night was a delicious soup, also salty. Endoscopy today at noon so no food or drink until after. Typing that just made me thirsty.

3/8: 230.6
Stubborn scale. Almost as stubborn as me. My spreadsheet tells me I am trending down slowly.

3/9: 230.4
A bit over on CI, and salt, but had some nice exercise yesterday. I took a short bike ride yesterday because it was somewhat mild. Today will be warmer and this whole week looks good.

BTW the endoscopy “looked” good. The nurse gave me some “Christmas card” pictures to take home. Her words. They took a couple routine biopsies, but doc thinks it will be nothing. BTW if you don’t know, and endoscopy is a look down the throat. (not like the name suggests)

Years (decades) of worrying about what I could not control gave me acid reflux which caused a problem 12 years ago, Barrett’s Esophagus. They burned it away and now I get regular checkups to make sure no return. I have also found some recovery from my needless fretting about stuff (my kids). And I have another good reason not to eat too late in the day.

3/10: 230.2
I actually had microscopic losses every day through the weekend. Unheard of. Usually weekends are damaging due to social outings. Let’s see if I can have one more for the last day. My goal for today is to actually find some first world hunger pangs and then embrace them. (I say “first world” out of respect for those in the wide world who have real hunger pangs.)

3/11: 229.8
Had some scale victories this round. Not every battle won, but ended with a 2 pound loss and a reduced ten-day average.

Yesterday was a really good day for movement. A walking circuit at the gym with some stops along the way to do an assortment of dumbbell exercise. Then an 4-mile out and 4-mile back bike ride on a warm windy day. Stopped at the park and did a beefy journal entry.

The optimist in me wants to say my shirt is a little looser. I am not going to get all-happy-with-myself yet. On to the next round of Rich Text. 😊

Round 289

March 2 - 11, 2025

62 year old female, 5’5”. I am married, semi-nomadic (we live in three states, Mass, Maine, Florida).

SW WW Sept 29, 2001 - 168.8 (initially lost 29.8, became staff, then weight up and down 18 years with low of 126.8)

SW MFP Sept 14, 2020  – 153 (lost 40, then stress took off another 2.2 lb with low of 120.8, then stress became gain)

SW MFP Jan 1, 2023  – 146.6

GW Maintaining between 124 - 126

SW: 135.2

3/2 – 135.2 Totally confused. While I did go to the gym yesterday – Yay! I totally went off the rail late in the day. In fact, this morning I contemplated a DNW as I expected a significant uptick. Anyhow, grateful and I am confident diary will be fine today. Heading out for a group walk shortly.

ALSO, Round 289 is my 100th round since September 2020. Pretty cool. I am also now 2 months from starting MOG dress shopping.

3/3 – 137.2 How? That is not a typo. I weighed and reweighed. I waited an hour, and even changed the batteries, then weighed again. Makes NO sense. Yesterday was good with 5 miles walked, all food tracked and ended in deficit. Might think “payback” for the previous day/night. But even that could have only resulted in a small fraction of a pound. No idea, but obviously disappointed.

DD, SIL and grandsons arrive today for a week. This round will have some challenges.

3/4 – 136.2 Late posting today. DD, SIL and grandsons arrived late yesterday, and hubby flew in from a weekend wedding as well, two hours after them.

Soooo, yesterday started off good and then got more complicated. I did a 5 miles walk, but had it end at the gym. There I did an hour of weights, then walked to the grocery store, bought perishables, and tried to hail a cab as planned (Hubby took the car to the airport – we share one when in florida). Nope on the taxi. So I decided to talk. I did a 1.32 miles farmers carry with 4 bags of groceries. Then proceeded with trying to get ready for guests.

Today, I just did two laps, something like 3.3 miles, and got back to be with family. They made bacon – a challenge for me. Tonight we are going out to dinner. I have that all tracked already. I am pushing to be smart while enjoying family and hoping to somehow end the round at or below that starting weight (I really want to see that “4”).

3/5 – 135.2 So I survived the day. Today, no time for my walking. Heading to the aquarium.

3/6 – 135.4 scale initially said 134.4 and I knew that was too good to be true. Having family visiting is quite the challenge. They are eating at quite a different pace than me but I am making my best personal choices along the way. Exercise is not fitting in well either as the kids are getting up as early as I am. Great visit though. Making happy memories!

3/7 – 135.2 Very grateful. I did my best yesterday, but diary was over, and carbs were involved, so I expected some “up”. Did fit in a 2 lap walk. Gym will not happen again until after our family visit is over.

3/8 – 135.2 Amazing again. No walk yesterday. Calories monitored but over a bit as well. Today, long story but no walk again this am and facing going out to dinner tonight. Planning on the tuna sashimi appetizer as my entrée as that should help mitigate the fresh catch yellowtail snapper that will be being prepared as family style appetizer. Three days left to the round. Can I hold on?

3/9 – 134.8 I worked hard to keep calories in line yesterday, and succeeded. Did not get in a walk. I will manage to head out for one today. Using the time change to my advantage as the kids are still asleep. Their little bodies have no clue that it is an hour later right now!

3/10 – 134.6 Focusing with guests is quite the challenge. Yesterday, because the time change had the kids still sleeping, I zipped out to get in a walk in the dark. Just my luck, my Morton’s Neuroma decided to act up so I stopped at one lap. Watched what I ate the whole day. Choices were not great (sea food festival during the day followed by pizza as last night dinner), but I watched my quantity. I am hoping that tomorrow closed the round with a number as good as today.

3/11 – 135.6 After seeing the kids off, I starting getting into things (food things). Lots of salt involved. It will settle out quickly. Today should be a good day, but I do have to go out to eat again tonight. Neighbors in the condo building.

End of round 289 count down: 187 days to wedding, 50 days to dress shopping.

END WT 287: 147 (66.7 kg)

END WT 288: 145 (65.8 kg)

3/11- 144 (65.3 kg) Pretty pleased with this. 3 pounds down over the past 2 rounds.

Apologies I've been missing in action. Left my happy place in the rv and relocated back to my house. It's rained everyday since i got here!

The good news is the cooler weather has helped with my water retention and I'm back to my maintenance weight!

Break in the rain meant i could get a quick walk in! Having to be super careful with food as I'm doing so little exercise!

Happy to finish the round back at my maintenance weight. Lost 13lb since the start of the year. Now to keep it off for the month I'm on holiday!

I’m not diabetic but several members of my husband’s family are so I have done a lot of reading. I suggest Jason Fung, MD’s books - The Obesity Code and The Diabetes Code. Are you counting Total carbs or Net? Count total. JMHO Hope this helps.

I hate the changes!🤬🤬🤬

@conner_manning I think clicking on the title will work NOT ON “view post”
