Round 289
March 2 - 11, 2025
Please join us starting on 3/2 for JUST GIVE ME 10 DAYS, when we will begin Round 289.
Thank you, Carolyn (@Chapter_3)! Let’s all STAY ENGAGED!
Anyone can join us at anytime during the round.
Join us! If we stay mindful we can do this, you can do this.
Welcome back past members, welcome new members, let's keep each other accountable for another 10 days!
Here is what you do: Post your daily weight and add little comments along the way of how your day went. You have only one hour to edit your post. Post everyday to let us know how you're doing! Copy and paste the days in your response--tell us how much you lost and other non scale victories (NSV) you'd like to share. Make the board your own - track what is important for YOUR JOURNEY.
FOR NEWBIES - I find it easiest to copy the dates to a document or note in my device and edit it each morning. Then copy and paste to the message board. MFP will return you to the spot on the board where you left off on your previous visit which is nice to know if you like to scan all of the posts.
If you feel your post is too lengthy, you can add spoilers to temporarily hide the information. It is readily available by tapping the SPOILER bar. To create a Spoiler just type or copy [ Spoiler ] xxx [ /Spoiler ] Omit the spaces within the brackets and put your information where I have xxx

OK folks this is serious.
I just looked at my history for 10-day averages over the past few years. I want to puke. My best run of 10-day averages occurred toward the end of 2021. Today's scale reads 25 pounds higher. This is not water-weight, bloat, TMI or any other anomaly. You know what it is.
What happened? I have a theory about how I stopped caring.
2022 was my final year of "work," before retirement. Emotional eating.
2023 had prostate removed (cancer). My parent's health went off the deep end. I became responsible for their health and finances. Emotional eating.
2023 and 2024 a lot of self pity about how I am now "something less." Emotional eating.
WAA WAA! I need a waambulance. or a slap in the face. It is all lies. I am not something less. I am worth the effort. I am driving a stake in the ground and will go no further down this path.

What we need to succeed is a sustainable way of eating, not a DIET we go on and off.
We are unstoppable not because we do not have failures but because we continue on despite them. - paraphrase of original quote by Beau Taplin

@_JeffreyD_ Thank you for the eye opener!
In Round 179 on 3/6/2022, I hit my “never going over” weight of 120. I honestly don’t know what was going on then but by the end of 2022 my husband had had both shoulders replaced, I’d had a big blow up with our older daughter, and he had been elected to our HOA board. All major stressors. And I started gaining! I need to get a firmer grip on my eating and hope and pray that he will “let go” of the board when his term is up in November.2 -

Me too, looked back at my weights, I was 9 pounds lighter at the end of my first round 3rd March 2018! I have no excuses, I've been kidding myself that I'm maintaining; 9 pounds up is not maintaining! Seriously it needs to stop now or I'm going to need to go out and buy bigger clothes, I don't want to do that & more importantly, I'm certainly not happy with this muffin top that has appeared, so, I've got to do something about it and only I can do that!3 -

You & everyone are welcome, it's is for my benefit too. To be honest I was a little slow realising, but I got there with it ! 😜5 -
I didn't post that much last round but I did keep up with the tracking, hopefully I'll do better this round

ROUND 288 SCORING SYSTEM: 🔵 Fantastic (11+) | 🟢 Good (8-10) | 🟡 So-so (5-7) | 🔴 Bad (0-4)
🌟 HOW DO I CALCULATE MY SCORE?I convert every mini goal to a score of 10. For example, if I take 7500 steps and my mini goal is 6000 for the day, I score a 12.5/10 for that mini goal. If I take 6000 steps exactly, it's 10/10. If I only take 4000, then I only get a 6/10. Then I take the average of al my mini goals rated out of /10. This average score is linked to a grading scale of 🔵 Fantastic | 🟢 Good | 🟡 So-so | 🔴 Bad. Depending on the round I might change what exactly classifies als a fantastic (ex. a score above 11), good, and so on...

Round 288 End Weight 178.4
03/02 178.4 It looks like a lot of us are shaking off the cobwebs and deciding to push a little harder. Do some of the dirty work.
I was thinking about how I feel better when I tell myself “weight loss isn’t linear” when I’m dealing with daily ups and downs. My graph can wiggle as long as it’s over all going down.
I also need to understand that sometimes it’s on a bigger scale. There will be bad months, seasons or years. Those little daily wiggles make up these giant curves. It’s not a straight line. It’s not linear. DUH!!!!!
I am feeling all of the positive morning feels. I am going to kick butt today!

62 year old female, 5’5”. I am married, semi-nomadic (we live in three states, Mass, Maine, Florida).
GW Maintaining between 124 - 126
History:Harry and Han are our cats, who travel with us. Have two “kids”, who are very much adults, a two grandsons. We have two parents, 87(mother), 85(MIL) still with us, and I have logically been needing to help them more as they age. I got my act in gear during COVID, somewhat inspired by NOT becoming my parents. I lost 30 lbs and was exercising daily. Unfortunately, I am an “all in or not” person. Hubby and I seeing our family home and downsizing distractions, plus medical incident with my father and all their new needs, became an excuse (father has since passed and I am DPOA, Personal representative AKA executor, trustee, and oversee the majority of my mother’s care). A year and a half later, I gained 25 lbs and lost all my athletic improvements. I need to figure out balance and how to make health be a daily priority for life!

3/2 – 135.2 Totally confused. While I did go to the gym yesterday – Yay! I totally went off the rail late in the day. In fact, this morning I contemplated a DNW as I expected a significant uptick. Anyhow, grateful and I am confident diary will be fine today. Heading out for a group walk shortly.
ALSO, Round 289 is my 100th round since September 2020. Pretty cool. I am also now 2 months from starting MOG dress shopping.

Anyhow, bravo for recognizing your own struggles. Those of us (many of us, not just the two of us) have to remember our own health. Here I am typing like I actually know how to do that, but we do need to. I hope this moment and this round acts like a turning point for you, and your 2021 focus returns.
Edit: reading down the next posts, I'm tagging in @quiltingjaine and @musicsax I hope for us all 2025 is grand!6 -

3/2: Yesterday was a rare day shopping with DD#1, whose schedule is extremely tough because of her work and family; she generally has 2-3 days off a month. She needed a suit for interviews starting on Monday, and "mom" still helps with those things. DD#2 happened to be nearby with DGD#1, so we met for late lunch/dinner. A very rare and wonderful time with my "girls", as DGD will be heading to college in Sept.
So, back to reality here: my weight's been stable for months and the truth is, if I really want to lose I need to cut weekend calories to the bone. That's just how it is. It didn't happen this weekend and probably won't next weekend, as we have plans. This round I'll enjoy the celebrations without bingeing or over-indulging and keep making daily healthful choices in food and exercise. I'll count that as success. I can end this on my birthday below 130, and that's the goal.
The real key? Keep up the work, have fun, take care of myself...and stop berating myself!
Here's the 4 of us waiting for a table: DGD, me, DGD#1 and DGD#2:

I won the battle of March 1. Now, onward with the war. Don’t fear the upticks and lost battles. No single battle will lose the war.

BackstoryIn 2022 I was around 157lbs with 24% bf. Was definitely in the “best shape” of my adult life then. Since then I started a new career working from home as a developer. Have moved away from my family for fiancés job. We’ve moved several times to various states in a short time span. So far we’ve moved 3 times, all about 9 months apart. Welcomed two puppies into the mix. Lots of changes. Lots of time spent at home. Lots of time spent away from family. Fell out of touch with friends. All of the adjustments and figuring out how to manage/handle more daily responsibilities and navigate through this phase of life has manifested into me gaining 20+lbs and losing a lot of willpower, motivation, drive, positivity, etc that I once thrived on. Found this challenge and it has been helping me get it back. Nothing is permanent! Looking forward to working through this.
Overall Goals and ChallengesGoals
1. Focusing on behavior and mindset. Calories have been going way over for so long I need to reel the behavior back in a healthy way.
2. Don’t give up on the day when it’s challenging. Choose to make good decisions in those moments instead of giving in.
Challenges
1. Working from home makes it easy to stress eat or just eat out of boredom/habit.
2. Sleeping less (have two puppies, a 9mo and a 1yr old) makes it hard to wake up early enough to get a good workout in or at least to feel good awaking up. Feel defeated in the motivation and drive department compared to how I was previously.
Daily, Small, Attainable Goals1. Finish 1st 27oz water before 2pm
2. Finish 2nd 27oz water before bed
3. Alternate standing and sitting at desk every other hour during working hours (or stand at least half of the day).
4. Hit maintenance calories at a minimum.
5. -200 cal deficit on gym days
6. If I go over cals, try to cap it at +200
7. Weekly deficit of 1300cals.
Helpful Reminders…it IS possible to achieve my goals. Sometimes it CAN just be that simple…

Hi, I'm Charissa.
Thank you, @quiltingjaine , for continuing these supportive rounds!
January: good until I got sick. (I rarely get sick ~ thanks grandkids!)
February: it seemed my body was trying to overcompensate for being sick....it was odd.
March: In my blog, I talked about insanity and felt I was fitting the definition....so it's time to shake stuff up a bit. Last round I talked about micromanaging my every move, I did start, even though the scale was doing something else....
Time for a BHAG ~Big Hair Audacious Goal. My goal is to lose 10lbs in March. I can't tell you the last time I lost 10lbs in a single month. I do recall losing 8 last January but we need it big and hairy10lbs in March translates to about 3.3 pounds for the next 3 rounds.
How Will I do this:
1) Micromanager ~ proactive and timely review of my actions.
2) Back to participating in Step Bet which will get my steps up. Aim to burn 2,900+ calories (per Apple watch which translates into closing my move goal)
3) TDEE experiment ~ I will elaborate on this after a couple of weeks.
4) Modified Goals (see below)
Overall Goals for 2025
Lose weight in the kitchen ⚖️, get fit in the gym🏋🏾♀️Q: What will be different in 2025 vs all the other times?
A: Change in my mindset
A: Being mindful and engaged
A: Addressing the elephant in the room!
A: No excuses
A: DETERMINED AND ENGAGED
Note: These are pretty much my same goals from 2023 and 2024, I've made some great progress but now it's time to knock this list out! My goals are SMART - just not including all the details here:
Goal#1 - Calories - 1650. **Eat well 🥗to Live Well 🚢✈️🧳
Goal#2 - Wine/Alcohol Reduction - 85% Dry March or better ** 🚫🍷 Alcohol kills weight loss as the focus is burning alcohol calories and not fat calories!
Goal #3 - Water - Minimum 50 ounces - Maximum 100 (only if consumed before 6pm) H2O - Make it Flow 💦💦💦
Goal #4 - Exercise - 6 days a week (Cardio, Core, Stretching, Strength Training) ~ 🏋🏾♀️ Don't think, just do it!!
Goal #5 - Self Care (Reading, Journaling, Monthly recap, Learning, Pampering)
Goal #6 - Organization and Declutter (Finish unpacking)

@_JeffreyD_ ~ I feel your pain! It's a new month, a new round! I never stop caring but sometimes the actions don't reflect the same. I get it!
@chapter_3 ~ love the post last round. I am reading Atomic Habits and I had/have trouble with that identity section. It was nice to see it demonstrated and obtained!!!

What we need to succeed is a sustainable way of eating, not a DIET we go on and off.
We are unstoppable not because we do not have failures but because we continue on despite them. - paraphrase of original quote by Beau Taplin
Up and down - just riding the waves of life. 🌊 🏄♀️ (My new mantra-3/19/22)
JamesClear “New goals don't deliver new results. New lifestyles do. And a lifestyle is a process, not an outcome. For this reason, all of your energy should go into building better habits, not chasing better results.”
This is NOT A DIET. It’s a LIFESTYLE.
I need to STAY ENGAGED because I’m the DRIVER not the passenger in this life.In Round 179 on 3/6/2022, I hit my “never going over” weight of 120. I honestly don’t know what was going on then but by the end of 2022 my husband had had both shoulders replaced, I’d had a big blow up with our older daughter, and he had been elected to our HOA board. All major stressors. and I started gaining. I need to get a firmer grip on my eating and hope and pray that he will “let go” of the board when his term is up in November.
