Allie, By "the hang of things", what has changed in your routine since the transplant? Are there long term lifestyle changes necessary?
Rita, I'm thankful you have a housing plan that keeps you near the place you love.

Off to PO this morning to see if my UPS order from Amazon has been delivered there. Still a mess and working on best options.
Using nebulizer 3X a day due to allergy season here. I’m coughing like I’m congested.
Went to make appointment with doc for bloodwork review and found our usual NP has left. All they had was the ‘weird doctor’ that said veggies don’t have nutrients and a virtual NP who is currently out on maternity leave. Time to change doctor for real this time whether DH wants to go through that or not!
A couple of grocery items to pick up today after PO then home. Campground here if full due to Spring Break in the area. This is the beginning of the summer crowd here. All March Spring Break, then Easter in April, then Mother’s Day and Memorial Day into “real” summer.
Thought for today:
What’s the difference between a dad joke and a bad joke?
The way the first letter is facing! 🤣
The first GIF reminds me of someone here! LOL
Have a great Saturday everyone!

PS…. Anyone know how to type backward? I did it by accident but got it to go forward again on an Apple keyboard.

The wife of the guy who is going to be doing the bathroom came by to meet us/me her/her me. I also gave her a key to the condo for her hubby.
While she was here I got a phone call from the friend of mine who lived in Hickory but moved to Palm Coast about 10 years ago. Anyway, we met them for lunch 1 week after we got here. That Thurs (we got here on a Tues)her hubby went into the hosp to have (I’ve never heard of this) a stent put into his esophagus . See, he’d had esophageal cancer and the chemo and radiation left him without any taste, very small appetite, and an esophagus the size of a pea. He’d lost 70 pounds, most of his muscle strength, he was walking with a cane, he couldn’t get into his truck without a stepstool. That was so unlike him. A week or so ago I got a text from his wife. He was very jaundiced and went to the hosp. Was in liver failure. Well, today I got a call that he’d passed. Don’t know when the funeral is planned.
Had the pot luck last night and then played cards after seeing the launch. This is the one that sent the 4 men to the space station so the guys who are up there could come back. Very spectacular. Got to see the . Still never amazes me how long it takes for the sonic boom

Lanette - I do not enjoy typing on a tablet or my phone, and if a text is starting to run overlong, I'll even call the person. When you've been typing for 50 years… Anyway, that's why the string of emojis, as I was posting on my tablet: 🛍️💰🧶🐿️🐿️🐿️😀 So - in order, I did go ahead and buy 🛍️ one thing, but it was expensive💰, so I only bought one! Walked/limped my way around the whole joint, saw every yarn🧶known to humankind, it seemed like - most too expensive for this girl. Then I walked the whole show going "squirrel" 🐿️🐿️🐿️ at all the different booths, and walked away quite happy😀. How close did you get in the translation?
Fiber fest adventures:
I literally bought a single skein of yarn, which was in twist form, made of an alpaca/silk blend. Cheapest one in the joint, at $28. I knew it would all be expensive - specialty yarns (in other words any animal-based yarns) have skyrocketed in recent years. I went more to see how they feel, what the colors look like, talk to experts about how they're made, than to buy a lot.
Put it this way, one booth was two women who drove down from Minnesota - they're probably doing fiber shows all over the south. It's truly big business.
I was hoping to find some camel yarn there, but it was mostly variations on wool from either sheep or goats, or alpaca and llama. I was truly tempted by a couple of the wood-handled afghan hooks, but I refrained.
I could literally buy 30 Hobby Lobby hooks for the same price, and while their wood handles aren't that beautiful, they feel exactly the same in your hand.
I found exactly one shop selling fabric, it was a small amount, and at $34 for a yard, would have cost the same as an entire thrift store shopping haul netting ten to 20 yards of usable fabric.
I love being able to repurpose something that would have ended in a landfill, and I find absolutely beautiful fabrics for as little as one-hundredth of what they would sell for new from a fabric store.
Yarn, on the other hand, is really hard to find at thrift stores. I am, though, finding more and more crocheted and knitted pieces obviously made by hand, and selling for three to five dollars. Those just make me sad.
Back home - my digestive system was on its best behavior both days, no "alarums or unexpected excursions." So pleased with that.
Been reading, but kept no notes - will probably stop in again in the morning.
Later, y'all,
Love,
Lisa in AR8 -
Praying for everyone in harms way with those nasty storms down south. Please stay safe xoxo

Glad it all went well, Lisa. Just window shopping can be very inspiring. The yarn is gorgeous. I'm mostly a looker, not a buyer, but it soothes my soul to see beautiful materials.
Excellent dinner, but I hadn't realised I was out of saffron. It didn't matter that much to the taste. I went straight onto Amazon to order some. It's so unlike me not to reorder before I've run out.
Love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx

😕 I had a tough day today. I got into the safe to get something I knew was in there that I wanted to send to someone and ended up emptying everything out and going through it all which brought me into contact with a lot of stuff with huge emotional content (documents, cards, jewelry, photos) I sorted everything and put it away in a variety of places because I couldn't leave stuff out on the chance that Annie would get into it. Now I'm exhausted. Tomorrow is likely to be a TV and walking day with no emotional stuff.

Lanette right there with you trying to decipher Lisa’s code. Travel, money, ?, squirrel squirrel squirrel happy. Hope it means that despite the expense she’s having fun at the fibre event.
Whoops, Lisa as you can see my translation skills weren’t up to the task 🤪 $28 for a single skein of yarn? WOWser. Time to start carding and spinning Tumble’s and Shadow’s undercoats. 🐶
Barbie ((hugs)) just ((hugs held extra extra extra long))
The friend who was facing heart surgery called me on my birthday but I was at dog group and couldn’t chat. Then I procrastinated and didn’t return her call for a week. Now she’s not responding to texts or picking up the phone, it goes straight to voicemail. Have tried reaching out to her closest friend and her stepson, both on FB, no response. Feeling guilty, afraid and sad. 😢
Later, lighter, lovelies!

Not much happening. Walked around the parking lot. Boy, is it ever windy! Then went to church. Came home, had dinner, then went to the clubhouse to work on my craft. I’m making one of those plastic canvas tissue boxes for Jess for Christmas, It has cats on each side. I thought it would be easy to do since it’s really only two colors, but it’s anything BUT easy,
Vince said he needs bread, so tomorrow I’ll probably walk to WynnDixie, take the plastic bags I have for recycling and buy the bread there. I think I’ll probably just get hot dog rolls

Hi All
Eating some seared tuna steak and trying to catch up with all of you….
My official weigh in day was Today - I am down ten pounds since 2/22/25. I'll take it! Especially since I find no hardship in eating seared tuna steak on the regular. : ]
Also - the Bedroom furniture did remove itself rather quickly and I have my first contractor coming to give me a bid on the master suite job, tomorrow.
I will read and try to comment….

On January 11, before I started actively losing weight, I did a 60 km bicycle ride. I had been cycling through the Christmas break and my legs felt pretty good to start. But once I hit the hilly section, I struggled. Then I had a long time during the rest of the ride to think about things as I plodded along.
I think of weight in terms of 2-litre bottles of pop (soft drink). Is that 68 oz in the US?
On January 11, I calculated that I could definitely stand to lose at least 16 kg (35 lbs). 16 kg = 8 of those 2-litre bottles of pop.
If we were to place 4 of those 2-litre bottles of pop into one shopping bag and 4 in another and then pick them up ... they'd be fairly heavy. If we were to go for a long walk carrying them, or try to jog carrying them, or if we were to put them in a backpack and go for a ride ... they'd soon start to feel really heavy.
No wonder I struggled in the hilly section of that ride!! And then had to do the rest of the ride quite slowly.
Now I've taken 2 of those 2-litre bottles of pop and placed them back on the shelf. My shopping bags are lighter! I can walk a bit further!
Meanwhile, I have been exercising to strengthen my legs (in particular, but other parts of me as well).
Now I cycle up hills and they're not quite so hard as they once were. Now I jog and can manage 1.5 km rather than just 1 km. I did a 7.5 km walk just recently which is the longest walk I've done in a long time.
Every 2-litre bottle of pop I put back on the shelf should make the activity I do a little bit easier.
And the more active I am now, the easier it should be for me to be active as I get older.
Today, I put another 2-litre bottle of pop back on the shelf. I am down 6.2 kg (13.7 lbs). Maybe the reason I was hungry yesterday was because I didn't eat much. 😜
I bought a pair of shorts in December or January, and didn't wear them till this weekend. Now I'm going around hitching them up all the time!! 😄

I think Carol might get some of the storm. I think I might be in a part where the storm divides and I am in the clear part.
IT certainly has been a rough afternoon in other parts of the south.
Allie: I could see your daughter starting her own business through utube somehow. That would not surprise me at all. That is how some of these decluttering organizers got started. Or Etsy. Or tutoring. Some people are charging quite a bit to teach knitting by zoom. One person here was a professor and moved out of town and now does a cooking show on utube. And if you start a newsletter about parenting and lifestyle and charge 50.00 a year and it catches on you can do quite well. 50 dollars a year from 2500 people is 125,000. And so little overhead.
Someone told me about GoGo Grandparents today. I have to look more into it. But apparently seniors here are using it for deliveries. And one lady I know arranged a trip out of town through it. They have a website.
Today was a success. The Audubon Society people were delightful. We walked for 3.5 hours…mostly standing still or a slow stroll. The experts saw 40 birds. They all have bird apps on their phone. Some have nice cameras and take beautiful pictures of the birds. 3.5 hours with people and not a word about politics. That is amazing to me. I will go back! And the price is right! They do know the birds and list the birds as they go on their phones. They rotate where they go. All around the middle GA area. Both men and woman and a range of ages.
Carol: I don't even want to say what I paid for this grass seed. I could have gotten some sod for the same price. So I hope this person from the extension service is right. I am trusting him.
Best,
Rosemarie from GA

Barbie: It is tough. I was the first to arrive for the Bird Watching today. A man arrived got out of his car and said his name was Paul. My husband's name. It was tough. I hope he didn't notice, but probably did. And we had so much paper and paper from his parents. I still have 9 bags in my living room and more in a storage area. It is very emotional to go through. With an organizer it would take 4 hours. For me to do it alone. It will take hours and hours. Because it is so painful. I am keeping my husbands shirts. I loved him in these checked shirts!
Thinking of you,

Mo - My ceramics shop has been sold to new owners. I’ve met them and they seem nice, but they haven’t seem very interested in coming to learn how to make molds. Painting techniques, etc. from the current owner. Also, I just really like the new current owner she has become a friend and I’m going to miss her.
Rosemarie - Do you have a friend that could sit with you while you declutter? My daughter uses this she has ADHD and uses me for body doubling. It helps her quite a bit.
I think I’m going to make lasagna today too, you’ve had me craving it. I use ricotta cheese.
I think you should find some younger friends that want to do things with you. I feel that when we stop doing things we get old faster.Lisa - I’m so excited for you to have your trip. I thought you said this was a quilters show, maybe I’m mistaken.
I’m curious how expensive the wood turned crochet hooks were. Rodger found a kit and wanted to try to make some.Barbie - it must cost a small fortune to send books here. Our postal service is so very expensive.
Hugs to you, I hope you have a restful day tomorrow.Heather - that’s a pretty cake for Bea.
Your son has a talent.
I used to let the girls have parties like that, I miss those days.Rebecca - I’m always fascinated about your fasting times and what you eat. I personally couldn’t do it, but am impressed with how you do
Carol - I understand the hesitation in finding a formal gown. I wore a long one at our daughter’s wedding. I found the ladies at the stores quite helpful in knowing what style fits what body type better.
Rita - it sounds like you have a good plan in place.
Allie - I had a friend that had a kidney transplant and after a few months you wouldn’t know he ever had one. You’ve got this!
Can’t Tracy or Danielle do your laundry for you? Laundry is a physical task.Lanette - lack of calf stretches is what causes PF too. I thought I had been doing enough but apparently not.
What a great idea for a fundraiser.Terri - Sorry for the loss in your family.
Machka - I hope you get to visit your granddaughters often :)
That’s frustrating and good that your new shorts don’t fit.I didn’t do a lot today. I ran to the store, bought stuff for lasagna tomorrow, decided it was too late today.
I tidied and talked to my cousin and friend on the phone.Tracey in Edmonton

John's sister will be calling in here between 10 and 11 to pick up her car. I hope she'll stop for a cup of tea. She said the company had been better than the food this weekend! Not sure why she didn't make suggestions, as she has been to several lovely places with us. But she wasn't the organiser. I'll wash my hair when I get up in half an hour, and do a quick hoover and tidy up downstairs. It's not too bad.
Smoked mackerel and horseradish sandwiches for lunch. No idea what to do for dinner yet...… ah, homemade pizza is calling. With a side of garlicky green beans.
Love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx

So, Several hours and a short nap later, I am finally caught up!
I couldn't eat all the Tuna Steak - so MFP is scolding me, today. I call it calorie cycling… LOL
some days I eat a little, some days, a Lot. it is what it is. Tomorrow I will eat a burger bowl or a monster salad and that will make the calories high.
I tried my hand at some chia seed pudding, today. Not surprisingly, it's very seedy. I am going to sprout some of the seeds and use them on Salad, instead. I did order some GROUND chia powder - because it is amazing fiber and it does have an amazing thickening ability - I am just going to see if the less seedy texture is better. It's not an epic fail - but, I wouldn't go out of my way to make this, again… at least not with the whole seed. But, 239 calories - with 28 grams of protein is not to be scoffed at. Perhaps with the powder I will like it more.
I have made an executive level decision - and that is that rather than stepping down my caloric intake every time I lose another 5 lbs, I am going to just go to the TDEE amount for the 150 pound goal weight. I will learn to eat as I mean to go on. Hopefully it will be more sustainable if I get into the habit of eating for the lower pounds, now….We'll see how hard it is… LOL.
Carla - I hope you had TONs of fun at the Stamping thing - I know that the people who are really into that make some brilliant art with all those little paper cutters and rubber stamps.
Shamac - Welcome.
Debbie - man, corned beef that is cheaper than any other meat out there… Hope you got as many as you could! Mmmmm. Taco Salad!
Heather - have you tried the goat cheese and mint thing at home yet? Can you share the recipe in English? LOL. I would be interested to try - but, I fear my French isn't up to the task. **I recall one time, I went to a Mexican restaurant where they made this fabulous homemade salsa - by the time we left - My lips were swollen badly - it was a reaction to some pepper they used. Maybe your stew was the same? Glad you got past it. Happy Birthday to Bea!
Pip - gooooooooo.
Michele - any alternate ceramics places? So sorry for your friend - but at least all that chemo and other painful stuff is over for him.
Barbie - Agreed on the computers - It's hard to truly break them - my husband was the same way the first time I brought home a computer from work… I kept telling him - just click it - the worst thing that can happen is you'll have to restart! ((Hugs))
Lisa - Other than the text thing, I don't have much to offer - except that you can also increase the size on your browser so that all the internet stuff you find is larger. As for ADHD - Everyone I have ever met who had that problem was SUPER smart - and yes, it can be like a superpower. I think it's some kind of an evolutionary step - maybe the ADHD folk are just using more part of the brain and they trip over each other a bit… Eventually - all humans will be smarter - like YOU. : ] Hope you have a successful overnight trip!
Tracey - I know those conversations with the favorite sibling can last a long time! Your Mom sounds like a real character. I hope all goes well with her.
Rebecca - I am not a fan of Jello, either - but the colorful bowls of Jello squares mixed with whipped cream were a staple when I was a child, also. I know you probably already know it, but when you feel hungry you should try to drink some liquid - preferably non-caloric liquid. About half the time, your brain registers thirst as hunger. I do a sort of modified intermittent fast… I always have, naturally, tended to eat all my actual food in the afternoon and evening - the only exception and why I am technically not IF - I have a coffee latte every day - made with protein shake and half and half. The thing is less than 300 calories - but, I seldom get truly hungry until late afternoon - the only time I eat prior to about 4p is when I am stress eating! I currently have some zero sugar sausage sticks in my cubby at work for that very thing.
Sue - 😊
Allie - Naps should be your biggest thing right now! I hope you are getting a lot of rest. Dan can push the buttons on the washing machine, too. It's a MACHINE - men are supposed to be good with those!
Machka - I am just like your husband with TV - although usually a few minutes into a show, I will remember having seen it, I don't usually remember the ending… unless I have seen it three or four times. Ouch, your poor feet! I know it wouldn't be cheap - but have you considered locating one of the very rare cobblers left in the world to have some shoes made for your feet? Suffering with blisters like that all the time must be awful! GRATZ on the job! I would almost rather move houses than try to find another job… I have spent years being a fabulous employee - and there is just no way to convey that properly in an interview without sounding like a complete *kitten*. LOL. Great ring, too! Double Gratz! Pottery sounds like fun! I haven't done anything with clay since high school. Hope the bowl is fabulous!
Kylia - water weight is real. You will get past it!
Margaret - I hope the weight loss helps with your feet, too! I shudder at the thought of those pointy toed shoes… I have Fred Flintstone feet. I wear only comfy shoes - because I am too damned old to worry about beauty over comfort. (I started that in my thirties, by the way… LOL)
Rita - Hope the allergies get better - mine have been awful while I have been clearing spaces in my house… Everything is dusty!
Tired Mo - I hope you get your certifications all done - and don't spend too much time working off the clock… it gives your employers crazy ideas about how much you can get done in a "day."
Lanette - Hugs are crucial! I hope you get lots of them.
Carol - They can do such amazing things for your eyes now - pop lenses in and out at will. Defogging the film should be a snap. Sorry about the changes to your insurance. Good luck on the dress hunt.
Barbara - Freddies? As in Fred Meyer? That was one of the things I missed the most from Oregon when I moved to TX! ((Hugs)) Hope your friend comes around.
Betsy - 😀
Rosemarie - I feel you on the Decluttering. I am SO getting my life in order after 35 years of chaos…. but, I still have a lot of chaos to cut through!
Flea - I am also not fancy. Give me leggings and a t-shirt any day!
Terri - Sorry for Evelyn's passing. ((Hugs))
All right, Folks - a gal has to sleep… I have to get up tomorrow and keep on clearing the construction zone - as the first contractor comes through tomorrow to give me a bid.
Goodnight!

In the past 3.25 years, I have had 6 jobs (including the one I just got) AND I have moved house. 😛🤪
All the jobs have been within the State Government, so that helps because I have an idea of what to expect in terms of culture. Although different departments do have different cultures. Also I have only worked at 5 of the 6 jobs … there's been a lot of seconding going on.
I had been in the same position for just over 8 years, so I am glad I did all that over the past few years.
- I got experience in different areas and doing different things
- I gained a better understanding of 'how things work'
- I learned a lot
- I met a lot of people and made connections which have been very valuable
- My confidence increased
- I was able to move up the ladder
Now I'm hoping to settle in for a while.
It did occur to me while I was walking today that the number of years I have to go to retirement is finally in single digits!! 9 years to go!

Interesting article:
""We believe this work is important because it suggests exercise may work to improve cognition and memory by improving the abilities of insulin to act on the brain,” he said."
On that … I had a decent walk today, and ended the day with over 10,000 steps (including the ones around the house).
I also organised my pens! I have something in the neighbourhood of a gazillion alcohol pens, gel pens, acrylic pens, and watercolour pens … all for doing my colouring.

Exercise builds muscle…and muscle helps your mitochondria and glucose regulation which is good for your brain…
Yesterday I went to enjoy Kickin' it Irish with my friend from church. She makes it an annual tradition to go for St. Patrick's Day💚. A former River Dance dancer started the program over twenty years ago. It was a great program. Dancing, singing, instrumentals to clap, stomp, and sing along too!
Here is one of my favs work of art from my trip to the art museum…Reminds me of my sister and her love of horses and animals!
I wrote this in response to a friend who is struggling with the loss of her husband…
Having lost a mother, father, husband, son, sister, niece, four friends, aunts, cousins in my life rather than ask myself how can I go on after so many losses I combat the losses through grace. Grace means giving unconditional love and mercy to those who are in my life. Grace allows me to be grateful to those loved ones who have died and how they enriched my life and to those loved ones like you who I am lucky enough to still share my life. I see and feel the miracle everyday in my life. Sharing lunch with friends... going to the art museum with a friend today...sitting drinking my coffee with my dog DrewB on my lap and gazing at my still up Christmas tree with its lights on. As I look at the lights I feel my loved ones spirit cheering me on to find love and share love today. This is how I honor those who loved me when I share my love I share my deceased loved ones' love. I grieved for twelve long years and still grieve in a softer way. It is through grace grief is put into perspective. For me life is such a gift I grab hold of life through the grief to stand in awe of all the colors life has to offer. In order to have a rainbow there is rain.
