Allie, By "the hang of things", what has changed in your routine since the transplant? Are there long term lifestyle changes necessary?

Rita, I'm thankful you have a housing plan that keeps you near the place you love.

Glad it all went well, Lisa. Just window shopping can be very inspiring. The yarn is gorgeous. I'm mostly a looker, not a buyer, but it soothes my soul to see beautiful materials.

Excellent dinner, but I hadn't realised I was out of saffron. It didn't matter that much to the taste. I went straight onto Amazon to order some. It's so unlike me not to reorder before I've run out.

Carol - Good luck with the eye operation.

Allie - Just a matter of putting one foot in front of the other at this stage! Slowly, slowly, a new life is approaching. Xxxxxxxx

Barbie: It is tough. I was the first to arrive for the Bird Watching today. A man arrived got out of his car and said his name was Paul. My husband's name. It was tough. I hope he didn't notice, but probably did. And we had so much paper and paper from his parents. I still have 9 bags in my living room and more in a storage area. It is very emotional to go through. With an organizer it would take 4 hours. For me to do it alone. It will take hours and hours. Because it is so painful. I am keeping my husbands shirts. I loved him in these checked shirts!

    Thinking of you,

Mo - My ceramics shop has been sold to new owners. I’ve met them and they seem nice, but they haven’t seem very interested in coming to learn how to make molds. Painting techniques, etc. from the current owner. Also, I just really like the new current owner she has become a friend and I’m going to miss her.

Rosemarie - Do you have a friend that could sit with you while you declutter? My daughter uses this she has ADHD and uses me for body doubling. It helps her quite a bit.
I think I’m going to make lasagna today too, you’ve had me craving it. I use ricotta cheese.
I think you should find some younger friends that want to do things with you. I feel that when we stop doing things we get old faster.

Lisa - I’m so excited for you to have your trip. I thought you said this was a quilters show, maybe I’m mistaken.
I’m curious how expensive the wood turned crochet hooks were. Rodger found a kit and wanted to try to make some.

Barbie - it must cost a small fortune to send books here. Our postal service is so very expensive.
Hugs to you, I hope you have a restful day tomorrow.

Heather - that’s a pretty cake for Bea.
    Your son has a talent.
I used to let the girls have parties like that, I miss those days.

Rebecca - I’m always fascinated about your fasting times and what you eat. I personally couldn’t do it, but am impressed with how you do

Carol - I understand the hesitation in finding a formal gown. I wore a long one at our daughter’s wedding. I found the ladies at the stores quite helpful in knowing what style fits what body type better.

Rita - it sounds like you have a good plan in place.

Allie - I had a friend that had a kidney transplant and after a few months you wouldn’t know he ever had one. You’ve got this!
Can’t Tracy or Danielle do your laundry for you? Laundry is a physical task.

Lanette - lack of calf stretches is what causes PF too. I thought I had been doing enough but apparently not.
What a great idea for a fundraiser.

Terri - Sorry for the loss in your family.

Machka - I hope you get to visit your granddaughters often :)
That’s frustrating and good that your new shorts don’t fit.

I didn’t do a lot today. I ran to the store, bought stuff for lasagna tomorrow, decided it was too late today.
I tidied and talked to my cousin and friend on the phone.

John's sister will be calling in here between 10 and 11 to pick up her car. I hope she'll stop for a cup of tea. She said the company had been better than the food this weekend! Not sure why she didn't make suggestions, as she has been to several lovely places with us. But she wasn't the organiser. I'll wash my hair when I get up in half an hour, and do a quick hoover and tidy up downstairs. It's not too bad.

Smoked mackerel and horseradish sandwiches for lunch. No idea what to do for dinner yet...… ah, homemade pizza is calling. With a side of garlicky green beans.

Love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx

So, Several hours and a short nap later, I am finally caught up!

I couldn't eat all the Tuna Steak - so MFP is scolding me, today. I call it calorie cycling… LOL

some days I eat a little, some days, a Lot. it is what it is. Tomorrow I will eat a burger bowl or a monster salad and that will make the calories high.

I tried my hand at some chia seed pudding, today. Not surprisingly, it's very seedy. I am going to sprout some of the seeds and use them on Salad, instead. I did order some GROUND chia powder - because it is amazing fiber and it does have an amazing thickening ability - I am just going to see if the less seedy texture is better. It's not an epic fail - but, I wouldn't go out of my way to make this, again… at least not with the whole seed. But, 239 calories - with 28 grams of protein is not to be scoffed at. Perhaps with the powder I will like it more.

I have made an executive level decision - and that is that rather than stepping down my caloric intake every time I lose another 5 lbs, I am going to just go to the TDEE amount for the 150 pound goal weight. I will learn to eat as I mean to go on. Hopefully it will be more sustainable if I get into the habit of eating for the lower pounds, now….We'll see how hard it is… LOL.

Carla - I hope you had TONs of fun at the Stamping thing - I know that the people who are really into that make some brilliant art with all those little paper cutters and rubber stamps.

    Shamac - Welcome.

Debbie - man, corned beef that is cheaper than any other meat out there… Hope you got as many as you could! Mmmmm. Taco Salad!

Heather - have you tried the goat cheese and mint thing at home yet? Can you share the recipe in English? LOL. I would be interested to try - but, I fear my French isn't up to the task. **I recall one time, I went to a Mexican restaurant where they made this fabulous homemade salsa - by the time we left - My lips were swollen badly - it was a reaction to some pepper they used. Maybe your stew was the same? Glad you got past it. Happy Birthday to Bea!

    Pip - gooooooooo.

Michele - any alternate ceramics places? So sorry for your friend - but at least all that chemo and other painful stuff is over for him.

Barbie - Agreed on the computers - It's hard to truly break them - my husband was the same way the first time I brought home a computer from work… I kept telling him - just click it - the worst thing that can happen is you'll have to restart! ((Hugs))

Lisa - Other than the text thing, I don't have much to offer - except that you can also increase the size on your browser so that all the internet stuff you find is larger. As for ADHD - Everyone I have ever met who had that problem was SUPER smart - and yes, it can be like a superpower. I think it's some kind of an evolutionary step - maybe the ADHD folk are just using more part of the brain and they trip over each other a bit… Eventually - all humans will be smarter - like YOU. : ] Hope you have a successful overnight trip!

Tracey - I know those conversations with the favorite sibling can last a long time! Your Mom sounds like a real character. I hope all goes well with her.

Rebecca - I am not a fan of Jello, either - but the colorful bowls of Jello squares mixed with whipped cream were a staple when I was a child, also. I know you probably already know it, but when you feel hungry you should try to drink some liquid - preferably non-caloric liquid. About half the time, your brain registers thirst as hunger. I do a sort of modified intermittent fast… I always have, naturally, tended to eat all my actual food in the afternoon and evening - the only exception and why I am technically not IF - I have a coffee latte every day - made with protein shake and half and half. The thing is less than 300 calories - but, I seldom get truly hungry until late afternoon - the only time I eat prior to about 4p is when I am stress eating! I currently have some zero sugar sausage sticks in my cubby at work for that very thing.

    Sue - 😊

Allie - Naps should be your biggest thing right now! I hope you are getting a lot of rest. Dan can push the buttons on the washing machine, too. It's a MACHINE - men are supposed to be good with those!

Machka - I am just like your husband with TV - although usually a few minutes into a show, I will remember having seen it, I don't usually remember the ending… unless I have seen it three or four times. Ouch, your poor feet! I know it wouldn't be cheap - but have you considered locating one of the very rare cobblers left in the world to have some shoes made for your feet? Suffering with blisters like that all the time must be awful! GRATZ on the job! I would almost rather move houses than try to find another job… I have spent years being a fabulous employee - and there is just no way to convey that properly in an interview without sounding like a complete *kitten*. LOL. Great ring, too! Double Gratz! Pottery sounds like fun! I haven't done anything with clay since high school. Hope the bowl is fabulous!

Kylia - water weight is real. You will get past it!

Margaret - I hope the weight loss helps with your feet, too! I shudder at the thought of those pointy toed shoes… I have Fred Flintstone feet. I wear only comfy shoes - because I am too damned old to worry about beauty over comfort. (I started that in my thirties, by the way… LOL)

Rita - Hope the allergies get better - mine have been awful while I have been clearing spaces in my house… Everything is dusty!

Tired Mo - I hope you get your certifications all done - and don't spend too much time working off the clock… it gives your employers crazy ideas about how much you can get done in a "day."

Lanette - Hugs are crucial! I hope you get lots of them.

Carol - They can do such amazing things for your eyes now - pop lenses in and out at will. Defogging the film should be a snap. Sorry about the changes to your insurance. Good luck on the dress hunt.

Barbara - Freddies? As in Fred Meyer? That was one of the things I missed the most from Oregon when I moved to TX! ((Hugs)) Hope your friend comes around.

    Betsy - 😀

Rosemarie - I feel you on the Decluttering. I am SO getting my life in order after 35 years of chaos…. but, I still have a lot of chaos to cut through!

Flea - I am also not fancy. Give me leggings and a t-shirt any day!

Terri - Sorry for Evelyn's passing. ((Hugs))

All right, Folks - a gal has to sleep… I have to get up tomorrow and keep on clearing the construction zone - as the first contractor comes through tomorrow to give me a bid.

    Goodnight!

In the past 3.25 years, I have had 6 jobs (including the one I just got) AND I have moved house. 😛🤪

All the jobs have been within the State Government, so that helps because I have an idea of what to expect in terms of culture. Although different departments do have different cultures. Also I have only worked at 5 of the 6 jobs … there's been a lot of seconding going on.

I had been in the same position for just over 8 years, so I am glad I did all that over the past few years.

    • I got experience in different areas and doing different things
    • I gained a better understanding of 'how things work'
    • I learned a lot
    • I met a lot of people and made connections which have been very valuable
    • My confidence increased
    • I was able to move up the ladder

Now I'm hoping to settle in for a while.

It did occur to me while I was walking today that the number of years I have to go to retirement is finally in single digits!! 9 years to go!

Rosemarie and Tracey ~ I made lasagna last night for the first time in years. I use cottage cheese instead of Romano. Lots of meat sauce and mozzarello. The scale was up 1&1/2 lbs this morning so guess I'd better watch it today.

    Interesting article:

    https://bicyclenetwork.com.au/newsroom/2025/03/11/exercise-improves-our-brain-lowers-dementia-risk/

""We believe this work is important because it suggests exercise may work to improve cognition and memory by improving the abilities of insulin to act on the brain,” he said."

On that … I had a decent walk today, and ended the day with over 10,000 steps (including the ones around the house).

I also organised my pens! I have something in the neighbourhood of a gazillion alcohol pens, gel pens, acrylic pens, and watercolour pens … all for doing my colouring.

Exercise builds muscle…and muscle helps your mitochondria and glucose regulation which is good for your brain…

Yesterday I went to enjoy Kickin' it Irish with my friend from church. She makes it an annual tradition to go for St. Patrick's Day💚. A former River Dance dancer started the program over twenty years ago. It was a great program. Dancing, singing, instrumentals to clap, stomp, and sing along too!

Here is one of my favs work of art from my trip to the art museum…Reminds me of my sister and her love of horses and animals!

I wrote this in response to a friend who is struggling with the loss of her husband…Having lost a mother, father, husband, son, sister, niece, four friends, aunts, cousins in my life rather than ask myself how can I go on after so many losses I combat the losses through grace. Grace means giving unconditional love and mercy to those who are in my life. Grace allows me to be grateful to those loved ones who have died and how they enriched my life and to those loved ones like you who I am lucky enough to still share my life. I see and feel the miracle everyday in my life. Sharing lunch with friends... going to the art museum with a friend today...sitting drinking my coffee with my dog DrewB on my lap and gazing at my still up Christmas tree with its lights on. As I look at the lights I feel my loved ones spirit cheering me on to find love and share love today. This is how I honor those who loved me when I share my love I share my deceased loved ones' love. I grieved for twelve long years and still grieve in a softer way. It is through grace grief is put into perspective. For me life is such a gift I grab hold of life through the grief to stand in awe of all the colors life has to offer. In order to have a rainbow there is rain.
