Hi, I am catching up on the show DH, and I watch Married At First Sight.
Lisa, DH, and I talk on my way to work afterward. I want him to counsel that mom, but it could be a violation, so I had my manager talk to her the morning of my last day. For many years, we talked about the heaviness of my job. I also have a therapist. Working out helps, as well as my antidepressant. Living alone helps my focus. As my therapist says, focus on getting healthy and weight loss. Before being on antidepressants, I used to cry for days. I would get so attached to the kids, and then when they died, it was hard. I will never get attached like that again. I do spend money on these kids, too. If I knew how to sew, I would make hospital gowns with snaps. So, I ordered from Etsy instead. Since my baby has a trach, I ordered jumpers with snaps. You can't help but love these kids.
Barbara, I am so sorry for your loss. Sending tight hugs.
Heather, was your dad a baker? That cake was gorgeous. Sending prayers for your ex-husband. I love that you care about him.
Rita, I love your last joke and the dancing ladies.
Beth, your mom looks happy.
Rebecca, How was your trip?
Allie, I am glad Dan is taking care of you. I know you are so happy to be home. I wanted the hospital to tend to you for a few more days. Delia looks happier, and Miles is enjoying that cake.
Goodnight everyone,
XO,
Mo in Mississippi.

- thank you for mentioning you use Voltaren on your feet. I might get some yet. There was some reason I wasn't too excited about it - maybe potential side effects. Perhaps it's like most OTC meds similar to how I use ibuprofen for example - use sparingly for acute symptoms.
I use this:
And I use it maybe once a week.
Yes, I think it's like any NSAID - use it sparingly.

Hey, kids,
Just a quick drive-by posting… up too early, brain fizzing, etc.
Mo - Thanks for the answer, I really appreciate it, and the idea that living alone helps your focus, but being able to reach out to your spouse and your therapist helps you keep your balance and keep going back to work makes sense to me. I'm glad you have rich resources to draw from.
Many hugs out to those who need them. You all stay in my heart.
Later,
Love,

Beth ~ What a wonderful memory to have with your mom. You both look so cute with you St Paddy's glasses.
Heather ~ Your first husband was handsome and you were beautiful and still are!
Re ~ Your house projects sound like a large undertaking! Our first house was built in 1975 but we have done pretty well keeping it up for rentals. I know the next time we need to work on it we will need to add new windows, floors, and bathrooms. Now, the house we live in is over 30 yrs old and it too needs a lot of updating.
My son's surgery went well but he was in a lot of pain afterward. Just pray that he will heal successfully. In the meantime, my house walking has had to stop. Evidently, all that walking affected my hips and my replaced knee and leg are feeling all the residual pain. Sleeping with this is very painful. I am getting a cortisone shot in my hip next week to see if that will stop the leg and knee pain. Today I dread having to walk all the hospital halls to visit son!

😀 I got calls yesterday from five of the six people I sent boxes to. All were delighted and touched at receiving these things from Jake. The other box went to Eastern Canada and won't get there for awhile.
😥 The new coat I ordered arrived. It was beautiful but the zipper was defective so I had to send it back. I tell people that I wear my clothes until they disintegrate and that's true about my two coats. The zipper broke on the heavy one after about eight years of daily wear during the winters and the lighter on is patched all over with duct tape after Annie's puppy nails ripped it. My third coat is meant for wearing in the spring. I ordered a replacement for the defective one but it will take awhile to get here from Maine.
😥 Barbara So sorry about your friend.
😀 Re Your remodeling project sounds great. I know that I'm grateful for the large en suite bathroom and closet in my bedroom and if I didn't have them, I'd be tempted to remodel just like you.

RE I as in agree with you! The neighbors next to my son's house hired another neighbor to build a rock wall like the one she has in her yard she built 30 years ago. She is not licensed and bonded. She hired her because she needed the work. It is now two years later it is still not done. She often works at night and uses spotlights and a tent when she wants to use a space heater. Initially I allowed her to use my outside outlet because it was closer to her work. and their outlet was on an extension cord.
When she damaged the culvert between our properties and only fixed it because I pointed it out, ( got damaged because she dropped one of the 40-60 pound rocks on it.) I put my foot down and said she could no longer use my outlet. Turns out she was using my hose too without asking, too!
In trying to help her neighbor asked if I had any work for her to consider it. I considered it and NO is my answer. I am careful who I hire. I do use a handyman who I know is not licensed and bonded for small projects. The big ones roof, furnace, etc, major remodel…I hire licensed and bonded like you.

Re (and Margaret) - You both live in populous areas and I do not - I have two other choices for fence companies that I wouldn't have to pay added travel costs - one isn't licensed or bonded, and the other has a terrible reputation. While the guys we used did have serious issues, they took the hit for the gas line break and took the cost we paid for that repair off the top of our payment to them. And all the equipment they broke on this hard ground was theirs. They didn't bring it in under time (or even close), but they did bring it in within budget. And the fence, four years later, has held up except where the neighbors backed into it. Twice, two different sets of neighbors.
Making the best choice is sometimes making the best of not-very-good choices. Corey and I do so much of what needs doing around here, but building a privacy fence is backbreaking labor, and takes heavy equipment in this country. Very rocky soil. He still wants do it himself, but I'm willing to pay someone else so he doesn't have to do it. I at least got him to agree to me getting a bid, which is a big step. They'll have to give us a good price, and that's probably not going to happen, so it may all be a moot discussion.

Lisa- how is the purchase of the house in front of you going?
Barbara - so sorry to hear about your friend..you just never know..
This bleeding is driving crazy, but hopefully it will stop soon.

Barbara - so sorry to hear about your friend! (((HUGS))) Looks like your suspicion that something was terribly wrong with her was on the money. Perhaps deep down inside, she was worried about the aftercare that would be needed as she recovered from the surgery after living alone and not being out around others for years. So …. decided to leave this plane.
Tracey - I swear, we're related, lol. So interesting your paternal grandmother was malnourished even with all of the people stopping by. I remember being surprised when I flew back and visited my folks during the last couple years of their lives to discover they were mainly eating applesauce, canned peaches and canned soups. I think teeth/chewing problems and digestive issues made it hard for them to tackle some foods. Mom was bedridden and dad cooked (basically warmed up) food as best he could. They were in their late 80's.
Heather - very nice photo of your and your first husband, you two were a gorgeous couple. Understandable that you still have concern for his well-being even though you have lived apart from him for many years and have gone on to have a very nice life with John.
RE - the remodeling plans sound great. How long have you lived in that house? Glad you have a contractor lined up, sounds like a responsible guy.
Carol - glad your son had successful surgery. Sorry to hear about your hips and knees were worsened by house walking. I had to cut my walking short yesterday due to knee pain myself, not sure what the deal was there, I probably didn't warm up enough. Hope the cortisone shot helps and you absolutely need your sleep!
Beth - glad you were able to spend time with your mom yesterday, lovely photo of you two. Bailey's sounds like a nice way to celebrate a bit o' the Irish.
Mo - for some reason, I envision your job as a M.A.S.H. unit - though you aren't involved in the immediate emergency care, you often deal with the aftermath. Is the nurse burnout rate high with nurses in your unit? They are so lucky to have you and your attention to care for the patients and their families. 💖
Allie - did the hospital have any recommendations on the bleeding? They must have noticed but apparently it wasn't a major concern? So glad Dan is helping you for a few days! Crossing fingers you continue to heal with no problems so you can get back to doing Allie stuff!😁
Lisa - Agree 100% on looking at hiring someone for some of these back breaking tasks.
Phone problems - well, my landline conked out yesterday. Wi-Fi internet still works so the main phone line is fine, but I got a message on the answering machine "no line" on the telephone side. I even plugged in a different phone and no dial tone. Since 99% of the calls that come through on that number are telemarketers, no big deal. I think I had switched just about everyone I care to talk to over to my cell number anyhow. 😁The thing is, cell service at my house is sometimes spotty for some reason. I got frustrated trying to get through a human at CenturyLink yesterday and gave up so will let the pot soak. As long as I have the internet, I'm happy for now.

Zoom today. John will have to remember to put the duck legs in the oven. Last time he forgot until 20 mins later. I actually bought him a timer that you wear around your neck for just such an occasion, but he forgot about it. I have yet to investigate the package of pancakes. 😗
P is in her house in France, and B is in her house in Cyprus. Ain't technology wonderful! 😃
Carol - Sorry to hear you are having trouble with your hips. Do you know what the problem is?
The Minimal Mom video on YouTube was very good today. What a lot of strength and wisdom that woman has. It was based on this quote.
I took a day off writing today, to catch up on hair washing, decluttering etc. Got rid of stuff in my bedside cupboard that has been there for ever, and I have no longer any need for. It was there because it was there ... if you know what I mean.
Lisa - Fencing is sooooo expensive! Storms blew down our front and back fences, at different times. The company who fixed them were amazingly efficient, and not exorbitantly priced, but it is something we dread happening again.
Allie - Sending hugs. 😍 My mum's legs oozed for quite a while. I hope it stops soon.
Love to all. Heather UK xxxxxxxx

Family came to us on Monday for dinner, then we drove to Fermanagh early on Tuesday morning for the funeral . Crashed at B&B at 10.30pm and slept like a log.
Today I’ve had a hectic morning getting everyone packed up to return from Fermanagh, and getting granddaughter to the airport for her flight back to England. We’re home now and chilling.
Will try and read missed posts now.

So… this girl went back to sleep after my cup of coffee and slept two more hours. 😴 Did some looking, and it's apparently a thing, "coffee naps." Who knew? I didn't! Feel sooo much better. 😂
Egg has quit yelling at me, finally. She lost her tiny little mind when Corey's ring came across my phone and I wasn't making it stop. Didn't hear the phone, but I heard her! Had to call Corey back, as he had called to say good morning, and I was out cold. He also called to tell me I need to be careful driving, high winds all day.
Anyway - went to my first monthly city meeting last night at 6. Brought back a lot of memories from my days as a small-town newspaper editor. Nice to not have to take notes! Was fun to watch the only non-city person at the meeting besides me get into a wrangle with one of the Councillors. Turned out he's only been off the council for 30 days, and wasn't happy with a change they made.
And was able to talk to the mayor after and get some information I needed. I liked her - and she asked me if I might be interested in running in two years, when her term's up. She's not going to run, and is looking for a possible replacement.
I told her to ask me closer to the time… 😉 Could be interesting - small-town mayor on YouTube kinda thing. We'll see. Corey looked so horrified at the thought when I got home and told him that I started laughing. I promised him I wouldn't make him be there for meetings and such. His idea of torture. 😂
We'll see - it's paid, but it's only a two-days-a-week position (VERY small town) so it wouldn't stop me doing what I want to do otherwise,. We'll see. If I have to join any political party, it's a hard no, but otherwise, it's an interesting thought.
Anyway… the fence guy just called, and will be here in just a bit to give me a bid… trying to get some food in me before he gets here.
Later, my dearlings,

Missed while I was writing - Allie, did they say why you're still bleeding? I don't like it that they sent you home without fixing that!

Yep, my grandfather always got up so early, so by 6 pm he was normally in bed, and my grandmother followed an hour or so later. He had to get up early to sneak up to our garden and inspect. Then tell my Mom all the things she needed to be doing. Do you know when my sister bought their property after they both passed, she would have my grandfather's metal "sunning chair" out on the yard, and it would move periodically during the day, following the sun? Like he was still sunning himself.💖. She also got a kiss on her forehead when her husband was not in bed yet.

My trip isn't until the 26th of this month, I was so excited I talked about it the weekend I booked the Amtrak tickets.😂🙃. It will be amost a week leaving Thursday and returning Wednesday. The nice thing is that the hotel my sister, her daughter and I will be staying at Friday and Saturday has a pool and assume hot tub. I received Allie's swimming suits she has slimmed out of, so I have suits! Which was so nice of her to send, but that's our Allie, even right after getting home from her kidney transplant she managed to get the box organized and sent.💖. Then son fetching me from sisters on Sunday and spending Monday and Tuesday with the grandkids (Athena has spring break)! Yay!

Oh our meeting with the owners son, and management office went well. It was a trip down memory lane for the son, because he had not been back to the house since he was in high school. They must've moved east right after he graduated. He commented to husband, "man the same mirror in the bathroom, I remember looking at myself so wasted". He's like our age, the house was built in the late 1970's. Hense to reason why things were breaking etc! So many original features. Same bathroom cabinets, sinks, faucets.

you can make a comment from the page where you are reading, but it will post at the end. If you want to reply to a particular person’s comment, you can click quote at the bottom of their comment. Your final comment will still appear at the end, but the quote will remind people what you are actually commenting on, so the conversation glows. Does that make sense?
you make want to make note of what page you were on. Technically, it’s supposed to take you back to the last page read, not from where you posted, but I find that I often miss a post or two if I’m not careful.

Carol, I’m glad your son’s surgery went well but sorry for your additional joint pain.
Allie, prayers for healing.

Thank you for the nice comments regarding my mom's and my St. Patty's Day pic! Mo commented that my mom looked happy … and she was! Much of my mom's concerning confusion was alleviated when we put her on prophylactic antibiotics for chronic UTIs. She hasn't had a UTI since and her whole demeanor has changed as well. Of course, some of that is due to the quality of care she is now receiving too.
It was 78 degrees here today near Buffalo! Wonderful!! But won't see temperatures again like that in the next two weeks. Back to 40-50 highs and 20-30 lows.
I've really been struggling with my eating habits and my weight confirms it. My face was awfully round in that pic I shared. I have been very lax with my eating window and what I've been eating is just trash. I know better than that. So I'm recommitting better food choices in reasonable amounts. Another produce box is expected later today. Looking forward to that!
