FITBIT Syncing issues with MyFitnessPal

Look MFP, if Fitbit is not going to bring over the exercise calories consistently, can you please just give us a formula and a way to ADD EXERCISE CALories? Calories burned - calories eaten, presumably there's some other factor in there, but Fitbit calculates it, and I doubt it is a trade secret or can't be duplicated.

Well, it connected for me for about an hour yesterday after going online on my laptop to disconnect/connect. Then it stopped again. Today not connecting either on phone app or laptop. It looks like the program is in an endless loop. I select Get for Fitbit, it goes to the Allow Screen and I Allow All, but then goes back to the screen that shows all the fitness apps with a message that I have to Allow All to connect, then I do the same thing again. MFP needs to do something on their end to fix this bug. It's not on the Fitbit end because Fitbit is currently connecting to another nutrition/weight management app (which is much less well-known than MFP) that I'm using through my health care provider.

@patriciafoley1 We've had this feature for quite a long time, actually! To add a new exercise go to the "cardiovascular" section, then "create new exercise". Since this will be an individual estimate, it will be for your personal database and not the main database. You can also add in a new Strength exercise via the Strength section, however our program does not provide calories for Strength exercise.

I am having issues with syncing between fitbit and myfitness pal I have disconnected and tried to reconnect, bluetooth is on and it won't connect again.

Steps and food haven't been syncing since 21st March, tried reinstalling everything and now can link MFP to fitbit. Very frustrating that there doesn't seem to be a timeline for a fix

I have had the same issue. After revoking Fitbit access, it took many attempts to reconnect. I had to do this daily since Sunday, I think. This morning it worked for the first 1700 steps, or so, but now it’s not working

That's not what I suggested. I want a way to add exercise calories not create an exercise. I want to add what Fitbit adds.

You can't even go to the exercise tab and use copy yesterday to get yesterdays fitbit exercise calories added. It doesn't add anything.
This is REALLY FRUSTRATING

No I understand; what I am suggesting is that as a workaround, you create an "exercise" and call It fitbit calories for example, and just assign whatever calories burned number you need to.
Just trying to help!

still having issues to where my integration won’t work at all now … I’m Screaming 😩😩

I caved in and installed Google Fit and Google Health connection. Linked it all with Fitbit and MFP, and now Google fit is acting as a "middle man" and communicating my information from Fitbit to MFP. Not what I prefer, but at least I am able to get back to "normal" until this is fixed.

When is this problem going to be fixed?
There was a Fitbit glitch last year, and it didn't work for three months.
Now Fitbit, MyFitnessPal Google Fit, and Google Health Connect won't sync.
This an in-house problem from a major player, and I'm paying for two services.
Is it going to be another three months glitch?
I'm really fed up about it.

Now my exercise calories from fitbit are shownig up as negative, meaning that it is calculating them like food in the totals.
This is ridiculous.
The only reason I have MFP and FItbit (premium both) is for this function. i pay for it. It is supposed to work. Every day.

I've had no response from MFP to my last comment.
I pay Google a subscription for MFP, and for Fitbit.
I can't contact MFP online.
They haven't solved the problem in nearly a week.
They haven't given a timescale for fixing it.
This isn't good enough.
It's the second time I've been let down like this
I deeply regret subscribing to these services, and I doubt I will again.

So what is the point of this blog if we are not getting any answers from them? I cant see any single comment from MFP saying they looking or will fix in x days?!!

I agree. This is a constant problem. It's happened several times since last fall. Once it took three weeks before it started working again. It happens during the daylight savings time switchovers. It happens randomly. MFP has told me it is a FITBIT issue. Fitbit says it is an MFP issue. I don't care whose issue it is.
MFP needs to be able to force a sync with FITBIT. And if they can't do that, then please give us a formula to add the fitbit exercise calories. NOT create an exercise that specifies minutes and reps, because we don't have that. We just want a calculation that we give calories burned - calories eaten and how many exercise calories to add. It shouldn't be that hard.

I love your response and I am with you 100% I am PAYING FOR BOTH services and I feel like we should get a discount or something. I mean I rely on both. I have been doing VERY well tracking and its throwing me off.. MFP is number 3 in Health and Fitness in the apple store hahaha

Third comment in this thread.
Updated Fitbit app this morning, updated MFP app three days ago.
Tried my daily attempt to get syncing up and going and low and behold it worked. (Using the desktop website MFP to "get" everything.
Note: steps only show today - previous 10 year history is —— GONE.
Weight was updated manually so nothing lost there, but the steps are gone - off to the great bit bucket in the sky.
Note 2: MFP has stated in the past that it only accepts update from the current sync - history is not updated. It has been like that for years so complaining will just put you on the MFP ignore list. Trust me, been there done that, I am a founding member of the MFP ignore list.

Having exact same issues, including the green note shown above about reconnecting.

Dear MyFitnessPal employee,
I pay for a service from your company, and for another from your sister company, Fitbit.
Neither companies have a customer service department.
Both companies apps have a major glitch
I have left two comments here to protest at this, and ask when the problem will get fixed, but no one has responded.
In case you didn't realise, people subscribe to your service because they are obsessive about logging their nutrition and activity.
So you shouldn't be surprised that we're distressed and depressed that you cannot deliver the service we pay for.
Please will you bear this in mind, and treat me with the respect I deserve as a customer?
When are you going to fix this?
You're Google, FFS, not some pipsqueak little company.

lets hope they reply!

First, stop thinking about, and working with "Fit", it is depreciated and ending in June. That's good, because the process of doing a sync between different companies, different apps, different devices is complex.
MFP and Google began working on more fundamental and robust way of keeping data sync'd. Teach yourself about:
MFP→Health Connect and
FIT→Health Connect
Your frustration level will go down.
"With Health Connect APIs, our engineers were able to easily adapt their existing architecture in order to read and write user health data such as nutrition, hydration, exercise, and steps. With this integration, we're now able to consume data from any 3rd party application that also writes to Health Connect, expanding our users' choices while allowing them more flexibility to grant granular permissions about which data they want to share"
– Jason Peterson, Chief Technology Officer of MyFitnessPal

i have no idea where MFP HEalth connect is. Nor Fit (I presume you mean Fitbit). Maybe you could rephrase your instructions to be a little more coherent.
And BTW, we are So TIRED of workarounds being suggested, particularly when they are not coherent and/or don't work.
1 -
Not Fitbit.....Fit.
Read the thread as many other users are writing about that.

Google it when you've rested up a bit and are ready to reengage with your issues.

Maybe YOUR company shouldn't be advertising and claiming that they sync with Fitbit, if that is what you mean by FIT. Sheesh. How smart is it to blame the customer for the company's failure?
2 -
This "workaround" is completely confusing. I can't find any app called just FIT. Also, there are several HealthConnect apps, some related to specifically healthcare companies.
Where are all these apps located that we now need to connect with to get our data from Fitbit to MFP?
1 -
Why should we need extra apps to connect FITBIT to MFP when MFP claims it supports FITBIT? Fix the problem — we paid for this service, (at least I did) BECAUSE it supposedly has this feature.

I can't find any app called just FIT
Good, stop thinking about "FIT"
Work on your MFP → Health Connect
Then work on your FitBit → Health Connect

what these guys are talking about? stop thinking and then take a rest? is this the proffisonal way to communicate with customers?! if this sync is no longer supported then say so and if you guys working on fixing it, then also say so, that's all what everyone is trying to get answer for!
