Good Sunday!
After a really rough week, it ended okay. The phone turned on and is back to tracking. I received my extra supplies requested. I managed to make a couple of important phone calls. Friday night I got home, planned on spaghetti for dinner, put the meat in the microwave, mixed a drink, and went out to back porch to sit for a short while. DH did join me. It was so nice! We were out about 45 minutes. It was beautiful. Ended up with breakfast for dinner. Oh well, relaxing on porch was worth it! Yesterday turned out pretty as well. I helped him with a few things he wanted done, we then went for pizza carryout, ate on back porch. A friend came over and had a beverage with us and just visited while the fur babies played. Today was BUSY!!! I actually got my walk in for the first time in 3 days. I vacuumed out 6 vehicles and detailed out with windows 4 of them. We finally had the spaghetti. My hot tub is broken. I am pretty sure it is wiring from mice with the heater. So so I get a new one, trash this one, or get a repair person out for it……I paid bills, put paperwork in excel folders for 2025 taxes, caught up check books, and cleaned up kitchen. I am guessing I will feel the car detailing tomorrow. The kittens played outside most of day. They are crashed!
Debbie-I am jealous of your hair!! I miss having mine permed like that, but at this stage my hair colorist says I can perm or color but not both. So straight it is…….
Tracey- I love that chicken "balance" picture! Oh so true!
Heather- Lovely painting and great family photo!
Re- I love once remodels are done! It does make you look at what you own though.
Storms rolling in. I think I will get off here and go read for a short time.
Grateful for all of you! I appreciate the support, experiences, and encouragement!
Hail, strong winds, now just raining.
Ginny- Stay safe!
Have a good night ladies!

Heather — beautiful family. It looks like a lovely celebration.
Allie — Give yourself time. I'm sure it takes a while.
Carol — Your granddaughter is beautiful. So athletic.
I was thinking of something else, but it went out of my head.
Back to work tomorrow.

Heather - How beautiful!
Happy Mother’s Day.Re - When I had first got into the community side of MFP I read all of your blogs back in 2018. I think we were friends at that time.
I love doing the free stuff it goes so fast.Rita - that sounds like a good deal on that bag of food. We have a local produce market here that has pretty good prices.
Keeping produce fresh - when I was at Kaitlyn’s a couple of weeks ago she told me she had bought a set of Tupperware Brand Fridge Smart container. She told me that she washes and dries her lettuce in it and it stays fresh for up to 5 weeks. She told me everything she else stores too and said that the set she bought for $50 (on Marketplace) more than probably paid for itself in 3 months.I really want to get a set, I have one container and my grapes that I bought last week are still very fresh.
Allie - I don’t know if you’ll feel better without giving your body a chance to rest. You seem to be on the go a lot for being only 3 weeks out.
Ginny - I think if I could I would put money into it as well.
Kylia - You deserved that porch sitting. It sounds wonderful.
Rodger fixed the spare bed today. It had broken in February, when Michaela came to spend the night I put the mattress on the floor for her. Can’t do that to the friend that is coming.
I swept through, tidied the kitchen and made the spare room bed. I need to clean in there tomorrow or Tuesday evening. It won’t take long.Tracey in Edmonton

Kylia- thanks- When I was in high school, my mom made me set my hair on those hard plastic rollers every time I washed my hair(thankfully it was once a week). Sleeping on those things hurt so much. While I had to do that, her and my sisters all went in and got perms!!
I stopped the curlers and the barrettes as soon as I moved out.
I love that there are so many new products that work for curly hair. they didn't make any for me. Only products for black women. The product made my curls curly but CRUNCHY.
Now there are so many different products to pick from. I like having it very curly and long, without the frizzy part.Debbie

Heather: That painting is definitely worth reproducing. I love our family get togethers, too. DED had baked olive focaccia, and we topped our meal off with home baked birthday cake for grandson. His 28th birthday is today, but we combined the two celebrations.
Allie: Maybe your body needs to rest a bit more to recover after such a big operation.
I have Monday Painters after lunch today Craft tomorrow morning, Shakespeare Study on Thursday afternoon, Latin Study Friday morning, and Parchment Craft Friday afternoon I do like to keep busy.🤗🤗🤗 and 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 for those who need them.

I've been with MFP since February 2015 … and I've never gone to Premium.
I like being able to log food and exercise which they offer for free.
Well done on your loss!!

Yesterday, the kids, and John, were out in the garden, and I found myself talking to my son and DDIL about my ex's mother, my son's grandmother. He knew a certain amount about her schizophrenia, but not the whole story, or when it began. She was the best grandmother, and an excellent MIL, when she was on her drugs, but now and then, under stress, she would go off the Stellazine and have a full-blown episode and have to be sectioned. Once the drugs had been re-stabilised, she was out again, as normal as you or me. (!) It was scary and distressing, but some of the things she did were funny in retrospect. My boys were too young for all the details at the time, but they do remember some of it in her later life. She used to make them things like child chairs and bedside rugs in Occupational Therapy.
DDIL's brother's marriage has ended, so he is coming to stay sometime over Easter with his two kids, who get on very well with my grandchildren. He has been taking it hard, but is recovering now.
So, a very informative chat overall. 😏 We don't normally get time, or privacy, for that kind of conversation.
I've done my editing for the day, so now to get my exercises done. Kedgeree for dinner.

Part of my youth was spent right near Sylvan Lake in central Alberta. But it wasn't as built up as this. I got to see it more like this when I moved back in the mid-2000s.
I remember it something like this …

Did they give you an idea what you should and should not be doing each week after the surgery?
According to this site (which I use now and then for medical advice of various sorts) …
What is the recovery time after a kidney transplant?
On average, kidney transplant recovery time is about six weeks. This timeline is different for everyone, though. It depends on your overall health and other factors.
What are some things I can do to take care of myself during recovery?
It’s important to closely follow any instructions given by your healthcare provider. Restrictions vary from person to person. Here are some general guidelines:
- Avoid lifting heavy objects for at least eight weeks or longer after surgery. Ask your surgeon about physical limitations during your recovery, including what types of activities are safe for you and when.
- Avoid driving for at least six weeks following surgery. Plan ahead so a friend or family member can help out during this time.
So you're only halfway through the recovery process!
No driving for another 3 weeks.
No lifting for another 5 weeks.
Rest and recover!

Hey, kids,
Just a quick driveby…
Egg is itching to be petted this morning, as she's been sick for three days. It happens about this time every spring. She eats something (we think) that just makes her feel like caca for a few days. Tried taking her to the vet years ago, and the answer is, "she's got a tummy ache," and they give her antibiotics "just in case" and say give her a couple days, it will pass.
So we just don't put her through it anymore. It passes in three days whether we take her or not, and sooooo much less traumatic for her (and me) if we leave her be. Which she insists on. Won't suffer being petted, and makes it plain that all she wants is to be left alone. Just like Corey.
Doesn't mean I don't worry. Nice to have my kitty pestering me again.
Ginny, Kylia - Hope the storm caused little damage - we just got the trailing moisture, rained gently all day, and quite chilly this morning, but were spared the wind, etc.
Usual Monday morning chores, meds, laundry to fold and put away, dishes to do. Medical stuff on Friday, and other than that, just the usual week to come. Oh - and yesterday's grocery order is being delivered now.
Quick like a bunny- weighed this morning, as the last day of the month, and am one pound lighter than the first day of the month. Works for me!
Later, y'all
Love,

😀 Roasted the turkey on Friday, cut the meat off the bones and boiled the bones on Saturday then collected the good meat from the boiled bones and threw away the bones before chilling the broth in anticipation of adding carrots, celery, and onion on Sunday to complete the soup. Now the soup is ready to freeze in single serving jars, the white meat is individual packets in the freezer so I can make sandwiches or turkey Caesar salad when I want. Today I will use the remainder of the broth to make matzo balls to freeze for later. Tomorrow I'll make stuffing to freeze in single serving packets. That was a lot of work, but I'll have fun food for a long time.
😀 Allie, I will add my voice to those who have said that you sit down or lie down for a few weeks and let others take care of you.
😀We had two days of no rain and I was sure that today would be my day to learn how to use the lawn mower. Oops, it rained last night so the drying out process begins again.

Add my voice to Allie you had major surgery and were having health issues before you went into surgery. You top priority is you! Yes I know you want to help your children. The best help you can be do them is make yourself #1 right now. If they have a problem they will figure out what to do without your help. They will still love you. They might even love you more because figuring out your own problems is empowering! They want you here and well. To get well sleep, rest, diet, and PT. You could tell them my friends tell me I am in time out until I get the okay from my doctor.
4 -
I put sleep first because I am learning you can have a great diet and exercise plan but without proper rest and sleep they are not as effective in keeping your weight down and getting yourself to your best possible health.
Without proper sleep you will lose muscle rather than fat. Without proper sleep you will eat more and more of the wrong kind of foods. Without proper sleep you are more likely to become Diabetic and or other chronic illnesses like cancer.
Sleep is not a luxury. It is vital for your health and well being!
Saw this joke in an e-mail today. Thought of you Rita!

Vicki - for some reason, you are on my mind this morning. Sending hugs!
Heather - great seeing your family together enjoying a meal, as always. I had to look up kedgeree. Do you put lentils in it? What type of fish? You probably said and I skipped over it.
Barbie - late yesterday afternoon, it was windy and part of my grass was nearly dry enough to mow. But I knew rain was an hour away so stifled the urge to hop on the mower - I'd be facing big wet clumps today. Crossing fingers we'll see several days of warmer dry weather toward the end of this week and weekend. Your turkey roasting and meals sounded like a great success.
Allie - I would overdo/push myself after surgeries despite warnings from docs and friends. Half the time it was not big deal, and half the time I paid the price meaning it took longer to heal than it probably should have. My only unsolicited advice (that again, I'd probably never take 😉) is to shut off the phone when you are tired and don't be afraid to beg off doing something if you don't feel up to it. I know you like to be active and you're a go-getter so it might be hard for you. ((Hugs))
Ginny & Kylia - hope your areas didn't get any damage from the storms that blew through.
Make it a super week, ladies!

Lanette - no I don't use lentils and the fish is smoked haddock. Undyed, from the fish market. I like to include some frozen peas. John pronounced it 'superb'! I serve it with a blob of homemade yoghurt on the top. I use the Delia Smith recipe, but add the peas. I also used her trad recipe for the chocolate mousse. We had the remaining pot tonight, as I stretched it to 8.

MFP Weekly Check-In for March 31, 2025
Debbie in Napa Valley CA - Down a pound- that surprises me beings I ate three pieces of pizza yesterday(but that was it- was shopping all day, didn’t eat anything until almost 3PM) 150.2 this morning. Maybe next week I will be under 150 again.
Sue in WA - Did well with exercise last week even did some lawn mowing in addition. This week won't be quite as good. Tuesday I have dental appointment for cleaning and Wed they deliver the new washer so I need to be home. Hoping to do some more yardwork. I really need to cutback on the sugar. My weight has remained in the same range but sugar consumption has crept up. Easter candy is hard for me to resist. I only met my protein goal 3 times last week.
RVRita in Roswell NM - Down 1.9 pounds this week! I’m happy. Watching my portion sizes and staying away from sugar really helps. Walking still not up to where it needs to be, coughing and asthma putting a hold on that for now.
Barbara on the Southern Oregon Coast - Wt UP to 134.0 this am. Details later in post.
Lanette in SW WA State – weight 162, down a hair. Step average 8206, up a little from last week. Total activity minutes 220. Doing PT exercises, house walking without weights per physical therapist.

Hey, kids,
Reasonably good day. Although my noon pills did get lodged and couldn't get past my tum. A big cup of hot, sweetened tea got things moving downward again, but I found that exercising on the elliptical didn't help things out in the slightest before that…. Live and learn… Pleased with myself that in the 90 days since the New Year began, I've exercised all but nine days. Very, very pleased with that. Will bump it from 13 to 14 days in April, 15 in June, and then probably stay there.
In other news, picked up a couple pieces at the thrift store that I'm pleased with. Found an old adjustable height music stand that is perfect to hold both my camera and my printed outline beside it. Been using a tripod and taping the papers below the camera each time, and this was an easy and (cheap!) fix.
All the chores are done for the day, and a few I didn't plan on, and I've also got a bolognese going in the slow cooker. Probably with bucatini, but Corey can cook any pasta with it that he wants and I'll be fine with it.
I did go ahead and add a border and pockets to the cardigan, and am putting it up for sale at a completely stupid price, just for grins. Glad I added the edges, and will be happy to wear it next winter if it never sells… Thus the stupid price. 😹 Either way, I win!
I've already started crocheting my next one, with a deeply cinnamon-colored yarn.
Onward and upward kids…
Do love y'all,

Worst of weather was south of me. There were three confirmed tornadoes in two counties to the south. Lots of rains and downed trees in various areas-the every popular straight line wind damage. Have not heard of any people being harmed in our part of state. More strong storms predicted for Wednesday on.
