@faurotann congrats on 10 pounds weight loss!!
@SunnyDays930 Sorry you were sick. But you are on the right track overall- pretty steady.

@deepwoodslady @faurotann - Hiya, I have my moments believe me where I am stuck like in February.
When I am on a healthier eating streak I don’t eat treats, I don’t drink alcohol or fruit juices (95% of the time I drink water with water enhancement, tea, and protein drinks), and I don’t eat deep fried foods. If I know I am going out to eat I look at the menu online and pick out something healthy before I go and I stick to it. I keep within my calories and I plan my meals ahead of time for the day.My downfall is when I am going away to training or a conference and the food is included like I did in February. That is my kryptonite.
I have been really examining my relationship with food and what I eat and why I eat it (especially fried foods and foods high in sugar) which I think has helped. I love the taste of certain foods but ask myself how long do I enjoy the taste (until about 5 minutes after I am done) and how do I feel afterwards. I remind myself how much more energy I have and how much more productive I am when I eat well and don’t have things making me feel sluggish.
Sorry for the lengthy post, it was just as much for me to put it in writing and see it for myself as it is for sharing.Have a great weekend!

I did a no weigh this week. I had my daughter’s birthday dinner followed by Easter brunch. Lots of carbs, cake and ice cream. I couldn’t face the scale. I’m back on program this morning mentally ready to finish the challenge strong and meet my goal…. Well hopefully at least get closer to goal. 🤞
6 -
Your weekend sounds wonderful. I wouldn't weigh either. And I wouldn't feel bad about the carbs, cake, and ice cream. You're doing great.

My name is Donna. I am 64 years old and I live in the Midwest of the US. I am 5’ 5” tall. My highest weight was 253. I would like to lose a total of about 100 pounds and have been working on it for too many years (since 2018).

I am pleased with my weight this week. It is steady, at least. I have upped my protein and cut back on carbs. For breakfast, I had an egg and 2 sausage links. Husband had toast along with these things. So, I'm trying to skip higher glycemic index foods when possible.
I have upped my walking on the weekends. I am also enjoying some spring cleaning which adds to my step count.
8 more days until the end of this challenge! I will be starting a new challenge for the next three months. I'll post the link soon. Thanks to everyone for sticking with this challenge! I think it really helps us stay connected, motivated, and determined.

I will be in on the next thread for sure. This resource helps keep me accountable. Thank you @RubyRed427 for keeping this going.
My insurance will not cover Wegovy. Shocker. Through my Dr it is 500.00 a month. Through Hers I think is is 1500 for 6 months. You pay upfront. My daughter has lost over 20 lbs in 2 months on it. That is the one I am going to get. My Dr sings the praises of semiglutide. It helps with so many things. Not only weight loss but blood pressure, lowers A1C, lowers stroke risk, addiction, OCD….it's unbelievable. I wish it were affordable to everyone. The insurance companies should realize preventing these problems is A LOT cheaper than trying to fix them.
Now I just have to let the husband know I am dropping this kind of dough on this……🙃
5 -
Wow. That's so strange it's not covered. Six months would be all you need. Lowers blood pressure, A1C, lowers stroke risk. Those are huge. Drug costs are so bad. It's very frustrating. I'm thinking about the costs of treating strokes, diabetes etc. What a racket. That's all I can say.
Your husband will be OK with it as soon as he gets over the shock. I've saved a lot on my food bill since going on this diet. I love food. I'm sure I don't need to explain that.
I think my friend said Medicare covers her Ozempic. I'm glad you're able to get it for $1500. It will be worth it. Good luck.
And yes, thanks RubyRed427. We need all the help we can get.
6 -
Thank you and my husband was actually VERY understanding about it. So my semiglutide journey begins anew. I just have to remember it automatically renews in 6 months so I need to be on top of that. I wrote it on the calendar ahead just so I don't forget. 6 months should suffice. At least I hope so!

Hopefully if I stay low carb and low sodium (and low calorie) I will lost a little this week.

4/12 148.8 In the 140s!!!!
4/14 148.6 BIG WIN TODAY!! After 6 months of low carb dieting my blood sugar tested normal this am, at 96. That is 1/3 of what it was testing in October. And what I have been working toward. The weight loss is secondary. I have just three pounds to go before I am no longer "overweight" by the charts. And will be a normal BMI. I hope to get there by the end of this challenge, but we know as we lose weight the weight comes off slower. It will be very sweet to get there. Doubly so if I can keep my blood sugar low (which means low carb, low carb, low carb!)
4/15 147.8
4/25 147.8 got derailed into a salt retention weight gain from the easter ham but finally back to 147.8
And yesterday before dinner my blood sugar tested at 96. So while it has tested that in the morning at times this is the first time between meals that I've noticed it has gone that low. So that was a plus too

Best wishes for your journey on the weight loss drugs. It is a shame your insurance doesn't cover them. But it is good that you can pay for them, and maybe you can take the cost out on your taxes? So you would get something back.
It's also true that sometimes insurance won't pay without the right code on the claim. A few years ago my doctor insisted on giving me a vitamen D test. I told him I took supplements so my vitamin D could not be low, but he did it anyway. Then I got a bill for the test for $300 because insurance would not cover it. I complained for months to the doctor 's office because it would only have been covered if it had the right code attached to it. That is, a doctor prescribed it for some health reason. I needed him to submit the test under that. I think it took a year - the doctor office just ignored me. Finally I said I would complain to the state medical board and I actually got a thinking person call me back from the office. I think before I was just leaving messages with the receptionist. She got my information, submitted the claim again and it was approved. I wouldn't have made a fuss if it wasn't 300$ and I had not told them that I didn't need the test (my vitamin D was fine) but I just wasn't going to pay that for something that I had told them I didn't want or need. $300 out of pocket for a vit D test when I already took supplements twice a day was too much.
so maybe you can explore what is required to get that medication covered? If you are significantly overweight, have high blood pressure, or pre diabetes or diabetes, I think they would cover it. My PA would have given me ozempic when I got diagnosed with high blood pressure and diabetes, but I told them I didn't want any drugs (I'm a little paranoid about drugs) and I wanted to do it with diet and exercise and they let me try it. I'm 50 pounds lower and testing at normal blood sugar in the mornings a few days a week, so fortunately I am getting there. I'm going back for a test at the doctor's office for the first time since then in a few days. With luck and because of my weight loss and normal blood sugars, they won't insist I go on any drugs. That was my motivation these past six months. But if you want it, you should have it. There are lots of different journeys to health and we should each be able to choose our own way.
5 -
That's good information @patriciafoley1 . It's definitely worth a try. I had a guy in urgent care say something similar when I was getting treated for a fall and was worried about a scar. Maybe the doc is reluctant to diagnose something else just because someone is looking over her shoulder. @Sunnydays930, would insurance pay for a second opinion? It's really curious. All those related diseases have treatments that are covered.
And @patriciafolely1 Congrats on your blood sugar! Your doctor will be amazed. Not too many people can do what you did.

3/23 155.6
3/24 156.4
3/25 155.4
3/26 154.8
3/27 153.2
3/28 154.4
3/29 153.6
8 pounds to go to get at the top end of ideal weight.
3/30 153.6
3/31 153.0 met mini goal, next goal 150
4/4 151.6
4/5 151.0
4/8 Still 151.0 I kind of went off the rails on Sunday. I didn't eat over my calories but I ate late and high carb, so my BS went up and I had gained 1.5 pounds, prob mostly water weight and salt, yesterday. Now it's gone. Hopefully if I stay low carb and low sodium (and low calorie) I will lost a little this week.
4/11 150.0 met mini goal of 150 next mini goal 147.5

Ruby thanks for the link to our next challenge
My weight is staying in a 5lb +\- variation. Right now I’m almost down to my normal plateau 🎢🎡😊
Still doing high protein but like my weight it’s a on/off routine. I’ve started mixing a frozen vegetable serving to water and having it before a meal. This morning it was a cucumber slushy before breakfast.
Here’s photos of yesterday walk
Best wishes as we celebrate the end of this challenge and the beginning of the next
💕 Karen
