Hi everyone I'm Jen. I just joined MFP yesterday, so this is my first challenge. At my highest weight ever and after many false starts in the past year ready to make a real change.
Focusing first on tracking, portion size, and consistency. Paying attention to protein as a long time vegan who recently began eating eggs again, I know how to get plant based protein but am inconsistent in prioritizing that. Also, clearly dealing with perimenopause in the past 6 months or so which I suspect has not helped my weight. Not on hormones currently.
Glad to be part of this challenge!
CW: 140 kg
Challenge GW: 130 kg
Ultimate GW: 90 kg (ambitious but still a long term aim)

New member - 51 and in permenopause with a recovering injury which is causing chaos in my body even though I am strong and regularly exercise. I am currently on Day 3 of 75 Hard challenge. Most of you probably already know the program but if you don't it's essentially thisβ¦
-No alcohol (no exceptions or cheats)
-Follow a food plan - any - but not exceptions or cheat days/meals - I am doing calorie tracking which is how I got to MFP - 1360 is my current calories daily
-Workout for 45 min 2x every day (no rest days) and one of those times has to be outside no matter the weather
-Read 10 pages of non-fiction per day
-Drink 1 gallon of water daily - I am Canadian so that's 4L for me - or 128 oz.
-Lastly, I have to take a progress photo every day. Weirdly, this is one of the harder ones.
Do I need to anything special to join this group? 10lbs is definitely reachable I think for me given the above and I am super motivated right now.

Welcome new friends! You will find lots of support here. I post my stats once a week, sometimes more because I like to write beginning and ending results.
- Highest Weight 170
- Feb 1: 162.6
- Feb 8: 163.4 ( +.8)
- Feb 14: 162.8 (-0.6)
- Feb 21: 160.8 (-2)
- Mar 1: 162
- Mar 8: 160.8 (-1.2)
- Mar 15:160.2 (-0.2)
- Mar 22: 161.8 (+1.6)
- Mar 29: 160.6 (-1.2)
FINAL STATS for March 31: 160 (2.6 for month) - Apr 1: 160
- Apr 8: Did not weigh
- Apr 19: 161.6
- Apr 26 160
- April 27 163 Started Semaglutide
- Apr 30: 161.4 FINAL STATS for April (+1.4)
- May 1 161.4
So 4 days in on Semaglutide (Wegovy, Ozempic, whatever) my appetite has definitely decreased, my desire for alcohol has decreased. no other symptoms yet. You start on such a small dose that I am not surprised my weight hasn't moved all that much. I must be patient.

I lost all of 0.1 pounds last round! I guess that's better than having gained, but I hope to do better this round. July 10th will be the fourth anniversary of my fitness quest, and I'm currently up about 4 pounds since last July 10th. I want to end year 5 with at least a small loss, but my goal is to lose 15 pounds which is what I gained during year 4.
CHALLENGE: lose 15.1 pounds by July 31 (13 weeks)
Highest weight (7/10/2020): 330
yearly gain/loss: year 1: β 87 lbs; year 2: β 18 lbs; year 3: β 16 lbs; year 4: β 15 lbs;

I would be thrilled to lose another ten pounds. That would put me at 135. It gets harder and takes longer as we go lower.
Lost 18.6 pounds in the last round. Ended the round at 145.6
It will be harder to lose in this round because I am gradually introducing a few more carbs in my diet (not going hog wild) so that is going to add carb weight. And I asked my PA to lower my BP medicine because I've lost 50 pounds, so she halved it. That means more water weight, since it is primarily a water pill. But I want to get off it, so I'll take the bounce up in weight when it comes and just shoulder through until I lose past it. (It's sweet while it lasted).
End weight of the last round on April 30 145.6
Starting weight this round 145.2 So 4/10 of a pound lost. That's a good start.
Wishing everyone good luck, and determination to make this round a success (ME TOO!) Hoping I don't go crazy adding a few more carbs to the mix!!

I've been on this journey forever. I was on GLP1s for a long time, went off them and have struggled to maintain my weight. I am planning to go back on GLP1s or HCG shots in a couple of weeks but trying to get back to where I was before I started gaining back. I haven't weighed in yet - just restarted Keto after a birthday party on Monday. I'm motivated and sticking to my plan solidly for the next two weeks. I will weigh myself tomorrow morning, but at last weigh in, I gained back about 8 lbs and TBH, I wasn't doing what I knew I needed to. I had several events (eating/drinking), then Easter (eating/drinking), then a birthday (eating/drinking). Now - let's see what the next two weeks bring. I don't want to go back to my weight loss clinic 10 plus pounds over the weight I was when I left in the beginning of April. I'd like to restart at the weight I left and start losing again. The combination of me working out, sticking to healthy meals and not drinking should move the needle.

Im not sure about 10 pounds in 3 months, but i am going to lose some weight this month before swim aerobics starts next month!
Starting today at 183.

Thanks @RubyRed427 for the new challenge. My weight has levelled off, within a pound or two, but I really would like to lose just a few more. It is good to have afresh start. I don't weigh too frequently, mainly to avoid disappointment! Good luck to everyone. π

May goals:
less alcohol
walk on days I don't babysit, which ends up being like 12,000 steps :)
much less sugar, though will allow some treatsβ¦one has to live.
Smaller portions though as I have told you, I started semaglutide (generic Wegovy) and this is coming very easily. Really, it is a crime that this miracle drug is not more affordable.6 -
62 yo female, 5β6β and retired. In June it will be one year on MFP. I started at 160 and have slowly (very slowly) dropped the weight. I weigh on Fridays. This is my third challenge, but this one feels different. My motivation is stronger. Not sure why. Maybe itβs the weather? But Iβll run with it and push myself to reach GW by my anniversary. Good luck to all. I love this group. I love reading the posts. You are all an inspiration.
SW: 150.6
GW: 145.06 -
Good morning friends! Welcome to our new friends and it's so good to see EVERYONE setting goals.
Last month's progress:
4/14 171.0
4/16 169.0
4/17 169.1
4/22 169.7Starting this challenge:
5/2 168.9
Highest weight was Summer of July 2023 206 lbs. I feel much better but have about 20 more pounds to lose. That would be amazing! Even if I get in my 150s, that would work. I've always been curvy.
Goals:
Yoga once a week
Pilates once a week
Eat fruit everyday. Limit snacks to one small bag.
Limit alcohol

This is my fourth round on 10 pounds to lose. Thank you Ruby. It is so helpful to have this challenge. It's just one more tool for us to use. Every tool has its place. Like water, exercise, semaglutide and all the rest. We need all of it.
I lost 10 pounds last round and that is a record. I first joined in August 2024. I only joined to lose ten pounds. I was bursting out of my clothes. None of my clothes fit and I was considering whether I should buy some larger sizes. Today I am 29 pounds down and much happier.
I'm 73 years old and 5ft 6.5" tall. I haven't been 135 lbs since the 1980's when I was in my 30's (and 5ft 8 inches tall.) I'm 135.25 today. I'm within three pounds of my goal. I'm very pleased but somewhat lost to be here. I've no idea what to do next. I set my goal at 132 because I remember what that was like. But I had a young body then and I was a runner. So this is quite different.
I've decided to participate in the next round because I'm afraid of what would happen if I quit. I know how easy it is to regain and I have to learn how to maintain. That requires exercise which is my downfall. I have to learn new skills. I think hanging around here will help.
I love all of you. I'm grateful for all of you. Thank you for all your help. Every little thing makes a difference. Good luck.

@faurotann Congrats on your weight loss and feeling better! Hooray!
@lclark04957 Great to see you again!
@walkintofit Hi Debbie
@GetBackSuzy It's great to see you!
@mamalaamac It was good to read your story. I am happy you are here.

I'm in. May 1st weight is 178.8. I'd like to not cross the line over to T2D, and losing 10 pounds would help with that. I'm fairly active, but I still eat like I did when I was doing lots of marathons and had an overactive thyroid. It's time to accept that I need to make changes to get this bus turned around. Let's do this.
6 -
I hope you will stick around for a long time to come and teach us all about what works for maintenance (as you learn it). Keeping a healthy weight is a Lifetime Achievement!
4 -
HAHAHAHAHA. I'm not qualified to teach anybody about maintenance. I would never do that. I'm just hoping I can do it. Hope isn't the right word, I know.
There's a great post under Success Stories that I've read before. It's called "2 years of maintenance - 130 pounds lost." It's a really positive post. It makes you feel good and I recommend everybody read it. It's old but good. Somebody bumped it up from 2014.
Thanks for your kind words Donna. I do feel really good. But I do think about food A LOT.

I would be thrilled to lose another ten pounds. That would put me at 135. It gets harder and takes longer as we go lower.
Lost 18.6 pounds in the last round. Ended the round at 145.6
Total weight loss since I started on MFP 67.2 lbs
It will be harder to lose in this round because I am gradually introducing a few more carbs in my diet (not going hog wild, I have to see how it affects my blood sugar) so that is going to add carb weight.
4/30 145.6
5/1 145.2
5.4 144.8 met a mini goal when I passed 145. Next mini goal 142.5
today, when I clicked on BMI in Fitbit's weight section, it said 24.9 with a green dot and the caption of "Ideal". Boy was that NICE to see. I realize I am at the high end of Ideal, but 189 days ago, I was obese. So going from obese (maybe even morbidly obese) to over weight, to ideal BMI β that is a big milestone for me.
